The EAW-16 Tactical missile System is the Elias Army's new weapons system for engaing a wide range of land based targets from long ranges. The missile also does nto require a specialist launcher and can fired form standard M270 MLRS launchers.
The EAW-16 is a semi-ballistic missile that provides near all weather, day and night, precision strike capability at ranges beyond existing cannons, rockets, and missiles using onboard Global Positioning Systems (GPS) with antenna and software to guide the munition to a target that can be up to 280 miles away and be accurate to within yards.
Munitions
The standard missile is armed an ingenius submunition. which is similar to the new artillery shells also being sold by UE.
Anti-personnel/Anti-Armour
The M39 Missile Warhead is used against personnel and armoured targets normally dispersed over an area of 150-200 yards. Each missile dispenses a cargo of approximately 950 antipersonnel and antimateriel M74 bomblets.
M74 Bomblet
The warhead is based around the M74 bomblet:
The M74 bomblet is very similar to the M85 bomblet used in UE's
Advanced Artillery submuntions (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74839) but slightly larger.
The valuable and unique Self-Destruct Dual Purpose (Anti Personnel & Anti Armor) M85 Bomblet ensures that no hazardous duds are encountered by advancing friendly forces. A unique self-destruct mechanism detonates those bomblets that did not explode by impact and another backup mechanism prevents inadvertent arming of duds by manual means. No stored energy is contained in the bomblet fusing system, thus complying with the most severe military standards.
The bomblet utilises a small HEAT (high Explosive anti-tank) warhead
and yields about 1500 fragments dispersed over a large lethal area. The shape-charge penetrates more than 120mm of RHA steel and is ideal for attacking armour and personnel alike.
