In his recently published book "All About Tilsitsin: An A-Z Reference Guide", author Harold Benkins spared no expense in showing both the Tilsitsinian public and international readers the more disturbing elements of the government, while also creating a highly readable and entertaining reference on the country.
For the 1st time in it's history, the Tilsitsinian government is trying to stop the further publishing of a book..
Selected Excerpts:
Tilsitsinian Government: (See also- National Assembly, President of Tilsitsin, Government Structure)
The modern Tilsitsinian government was created in the wake of the great civil war between socialists and monarchists, which resulted in a socialist victory. The government was initially formed with a National Assembly of the People containing representatives from all of Tilsitsin's 28 provinces, headed by a premier authorized to execute the day-to-day policies of the state.
With the transition of the country to a capitalist system, the now-renamed National Assembly gained much more power, with the new executive position of "president" replacing the once-powerful premier. Tilsitsin's justice system is not seen as authorative or even effective when compared to even the power of the office of the president.
Harding Beach Island: (See also- HBI Conflict, General Reygand, LGR Defense)
Second largest of Tilsitsin's provinces and the largest of the Tilsitsinian-controlled coastal islands, HBI (as it is known) serves as not only a large population center when compared to the other Tilsitsinian provinces, but it is also home to over 30 military installations and a large portion of LGR Defense assets, in addition to having the largest economy of the Tilsitsinian provinces. Unrest has plagued the island for some time, and this culminated with the HBI Conflict in which scores of civilians were massacred for the sake of maintaining HBI as a Tilsitsinian province.
General Reygand: (See also- Harding Beach Island, HBI Conflict, Guard-Reserve)
Commander of a Tilsitsinian reservist corps of the army, General Reygand is most notable as the defacto leader of the HBI independence movement-in-exile, and commander designate of it's armed forces. The general was seen widely by HBI citizens as a patriot, but he later showed himself to be a hotheaded and troubled leader. Nevertheless, the general is still said to have a large base of support with the lower class, socialists, farmers and "old guard" of the socialist era on HBI.
President John Walters: (See also- Tilsitsinain Government, Panteran War, Transition to Capitalism)
Current president of Tilsitsin, and also the last "premier" of the socialist era of Tilsitsinian government. Currently serving in his 2nd 6-year term as president. While viewed as one of Tilsitsin's greatest leaders, he is also seen in most circles as both indecisive and overly prone to act on emotion in dealings with foreign nations. Recent governmental changes after the disasterous Panteran war sought to reduce the powers of the president, largely due to his poor personal handling of the war.
Tilsitsinian Foreign Office: (See also- President Walters, Panteran War, Balance of National Power)
Once feared as the most decisive force behind both internal and external Tilsitsinian policies, the Foreign Office was seen as the powerhouse that controlled easily both the National Assembly of the People and the premier during the socialist period. The office in theory acts as the main conduit through which international policy is both created and executed, but in practice it's power went far beyond this.
The transition to capitalism saw the office loose none of it's deadly influence, and only with the brutal Panteran War was the power of the Foreign Office finally routed. Many socialists in the country long for the return of power to the Foreign Office, but under the current government it is unlikely that it will ever gain back the power it once held.
