::General Ross Speaking To General MacBeth::

Ross: General, I need those nuclear bombs for my aircraft, I would 6th Armored to hit Londonderry as soon as possible and try to take that arsenal

MacBeth: I can send 2nd Brigade they are already 200Km away and much of that is friendly territory

Ross: Understood but we need those bombs soon before those Major Clan bastards take them away, the EMP warheads are also stored there.

MacBeth: General I understand your concern, but the aquisition of Nuclear weapons is not our #1 Priority, 1st Cavalry is in Aberdeen and in a position to cut off my brigade even if we do get to Londonderry. So I'm ordering 1st and 3rd Heavy Brigades out to smash 1st Cavalry

Ross: General would like my bombers to provide support against 1st Cav?

MacBeth: That would be good, a lot of clusters should disrupt them

Ross: It will be done general

::Ross hangs up the phone and turns to his aide::

Ross: Louis we are going to hit 1st Cav by midafternoon. What can we get up in the air

Louis: 1st and 3rd Squadrons from the 445th should be able to sortie.

Ross: get them in the air and prep the other 4 squadrons to rotate so we can be constantly hitting them.

Louis: Sir what about CAP?

Ross: I don't know what to tell you there Louis other than lets hope there aren't many Enemy fighters and we'll have the element of suprise on the first raid

Louis: Yes sir.

::The 4 Regiment in the division are arrayed so that 1 has landed to the west of the base, in the mountains, one to the south, also in the mountains, and one in the east, approaching along the road with elements of the 7th Armored Marine Division. ::The leader of the 5th Cavalry Division, Bvt. Major Gen. Peter Sanders, adresses his troops on the eve of the attack::

Sanders: We've all lost some good men over the last few days; hell we've lost alot of family and friends in the recent nuclear attacks. But we will emerge triumphant from the ashes of loss. We will not nuckle under to terrorists and rebels! We will not allow those who want to hurt us to decide what we can and cannot do!

But we will lose some good men and women in the process. Already, we have lost our commander in the attack on Eatsville. Already, we have lost our comrads in skirmishes around the base. But we will not fail because of it. We will succede because their sacrifice will not be in vain!

This is Council of Clan central news.

Today our top story is the Government's use of tactical Nuclear weapons on the battlefield.

We go now to George Kohanes who is embedded with 1st Cavalry Regiment that lead the Counter-Attack. George?

George: Well Jeffery, starting at 0830 this morning, Council of Clan Air Forces began a Massive Sortie of Aircraft. Which Pounded key rebel positions with nuclear blasts, it is reported at this time 43 small nuclear devices were detonated. Following the detonation Armored units much like 1st Cavalry began a massive offensive at all fronts, achieving no fewer than 3 breakthroughs. Along with that Council of Clan Paratroopers supported by Manarthian Airborne units began landing and retaking several smaller islands. Reports coming in from the front are showing that there are massive amounts of Rebel soldiers surrendering while our armor is running rampant throughout the countryside.

Nucking them is the best thing the CoC has ever done! Think of the stablility this brings the region. I only hope their smart enough to nuke the Kusoans while their at it.

MacLean: Jeff how goes the war in Kusa?

Jeff: Well sir, I'm afraid they've pushed us back, they have been using chemical weapons. But with our MOPS protective gear we have taken little casualties due to those weapons. The fighting is grinding down to a stalemate.

MacLean: They have become yet another cancerous cist in the body of this great nation. I think we had better cut them out.

Angus: Sir, do you suggest nuclear annihlation, like we did to Celtic War Lords?

MacLean: No, they are too close to us, and such an attack would adversly affect Manarth. I'm actually thinking of granting them their independence.

::Jaws drop all around the room::

Jeff: Sir, ummm why would we do that?

MacLean: I'm not saying unconditional independance. What i'm thinking is more like the US/Cuba relations after the Spanish American War.

Bonnie: Sir, would that mean no foreign military would be able to base troops in that country?

MacLean: Exactly. This will also show the world that we can be tough and compassionate. We obliterate Celtic War Lords for being treacherous, backstabbing us while in a defensive alliance with us, while we give Kusa Independence because well, its just not worth holding onto that island.

Angus: So sir what shall i do?

MacLean: offer an armistice, the guns stop firing at oh lets say 11 am tommorow. And then open negotiations, lets let them think we are toying with the idea, and offer them much less than we are willing to give.

Angus: I'll make the approriate calls sir.

Now with a new feature! Treaties! The page now conveniently shows the different treaties Manarth has signed. Hurray! Now we can't conveniently invent a treaty just to join in the fun unless we put it in there first!

Well, that's it for today. And now on to the IC stuff

IC: Now back to the "No Spinning Hard Topics Zone" with Confelly and Wallace!

Patricia Confelly: Hello and welcome to the "Zone." We use the word "Zone" in a vain attempt to latch on to the 18-25 demographic.

Arnold Wallace: As if they'd spend a fraction of time watching us. ::laughs:: Damn Liberal kids.

Confelly: Don't listen to this conservative bozo. Just because we've got a conservative guest on he thinks he's king. Well, here's our guest now, former Press Secretary Thomas Franklin.

::Franklin walks in limping slightly. Wallace gets to his feet and helps Franklin find a seat::

Franklin: It's good to be here Wallace. Nice to see you Confelly.

Confelly: Likewise.

Wallace: So, Franklin, what have you to say about the current state of LETI/LOTI relationships?

Franklin: Frankly Wallace, I could care less about the rest of LOTI, as far as I'm concerned we should be looking out for #1 right now. At the moment, we're fighting a battle in LETI, without much backup, against Eastern Detriot. Our newly appointed head of the navy is still in command of the fleet, which is a completly idiodic move, and our ships are running low on fuel.

Not to mention the fact that we just signed a treaty that can be canceled at any time if we are forced into war with any Bulger 15 nation. I can't argue with the resoning behind becoming allies with HO, but do we really have to sign such a weak treaty to do so?

And then there is the Council of Clan. These guys have single handedly caused the most problems in LETI/LOTI history, and we're not only still allies with them, we're signing another treaty so that we're even more of an ally with them. It frankly boggles my mind.

Confelly: What of the recent reductions in tarrifs for trade?

Franklin: I don't think there's a Manarthian out there that doesn't see that as a good thing, except when it's our tarrifs that are lowered. How is our steel industry going to prevent an influx of cheap CoC steel now? I'm just glad they didn't cut out tarrifs on foriegn automobiles completely.

Wallace: Couldn't agree more. Well that's all the time we have for today. Join us next week when we have Upper House Majority Leader Robert Ionia, a stinking liberal, on the show to discuss foriegn relations with Dubelco and Edenstein. That's it for tonight. Goodbye!

::Cuts to tricia Tokanowa::

::In a flat emotionless voice::

Thank you Patricia, Today negotiations between CoC and Kusoan rebels bore new fruit. Kusa will be free, to some degree at least. Council of Clan has put terms down. There will be a ceasefire at 11am tommorow and CoC soldiers will fall back, taking with them all CoC military hardware that the rebels had seized. They will withdraw to a base they are keeping on the island of Kusa in Guantonomo Bay. The Kusoans are granted there independence , the right to self-govern and deal with all matters internal. On external affairs Council of Clan must oversee any treaty negotiated by the Kusoans and with any war the Kusoans wish to prosecute they must first notift CoC of their intentions. And Lastly CoC has reserved the right to intervene with military force any time they deem "Kusaons have threatened CoC Security".

Back to you Pat.

Harvey Limbauchter: Today on "Reading is for Liberal Sissies" we discuss the latest liberal propaganda spewed forth from "our" goverment, through their affiliates in the writing community. Today's book is "The Last Days of Tifa Island." A "romance", that is little more than a sickening look at what your government wants you to believe.

In this story, the "heros", a Carinadian woman reporter and an Edenstein businessman, try to survive the "horrors" of Crippleslovanian occupation, while being persued by the "villans" a gross misrepresnetation of a minor Council of Clan military advisor, and a Celtic War Lordian harlot.

Now say it with me!

Jake Parsons: We'll return to Confelly and Wallace's interview with Former Press Secretary Thomas Franklin in a bit, but now, breaking news.

Manarth and the CoC have anounced that their top secret spacestation, the Lewis and Clark, has been fully preassembled, and that the first launch of it's materials for construction has taken place today from the launchpad at Port Hrabe.

The launch went off without a hitch, bringing the initial living quarters and 10 Manarth and CoC workers. More details will be available later. The only comment we have so far is that Lt. Col. Glen Johnson of the CoC has been named as the current commander of the space station.

Now back to Confelly and Wallace.

::He replaces the first paper, and pulls out another from slightly further down the wall::

Potts: "Plan #43610b for the Assassination of Carl Wainright." I read something about this. Must have found this on Evans after the war.

::He replaces that paper and turns to leave. But as he does, another booklet catches his eye. He walks over and picks it up, scanning the cover::

Potts: "Plan #71249c-002 for the Dispersal of Nuclear Weapons in Major Manarthian Cities".

::He sits down and begins to read::

Potts: Opperatives in air defence fail to hit nuclear targets fired on St. Matthewstown, Quinto City, and Eatsville... What the hell?

::He continues reading::

Potts: Holy Prophet Quintus!

::Shaking, he replaces the book on the shelf, and picks up the previous paper he had on Carl Wainright. He sits down and skims it quickly, finding the part that shouldn't have been there::

Potts: No. No. This is all wrong. This can't be right.

::Quickly, he replaces the paper, and turns to the almost empty shelf. Grabbing the nearest paper from it he reads::

Potts: "Plan 108943a-112 to Assassinate Prime Minister Jarnicki and Claim Manarth as the Master Nation it Deserves to Be". ::He reads on, his face growing with concern:: The Prime Minister! She's in danger!

::He scuttles up the ladder, and out into the tunnel. Quickly, he replaces the floorboard, and runs to his civilian car, neglecting even to clock out his shift change. With his pedal to the metal, he speads off in his '96 Autoingen Avatar towards the Prime Minister's Mansion.

Zimmerman: Yes Mr. Addid. We in Manarth are concerned with the recent reemergance of Eastern Detroit units in the hills to the north of our holdings.

Addid: Well, remember that you were involved in subjugating Eastern Detroit. My soldiers can't be blaimed for trying to throw you out.

Zimmerman: That is true, but I think they'd be better served going after only Dubelco. They can't honestly have any hope of sucess, but they'll survive for longer if they dont' have to fight our forces.

O'Conell: And in return, they don't attack us. And no terroist attacks either. In exchange, we'll release those we've captured and take them to the Dubelco border.

Addid: I don't like it, but it does make more sense. Very well. We have a deal.

Zimmerman: Good. We'll be holding inside the border. And if you try anything at all, well, your hosts in West Palm could be bribed to arrange this meeting....

Addid: I see. Well, then it's settled. Good day to you, gentlemen. If you'll excuse me, I've got some sunbathing to do.

Tempest: When did Freedom People become part of the Clan Lands? I remember them asking us about them, but even then they were still a free ruling country that just happened to surrender to us...

Maison: ::shrugs:: Well, I would not worry about that too much Master Freemont!

Tempest: Well we should send word to Corran about the election anyway, he may be interested...

The leader of the Ragnashas, Xerba was sitting in his meeting hall deep underneath the swamps of Fetid Fens. The Ragnashas were getting restless. For 200 years they had been held captive in their caves by the unspeakable Seals. The Masters of Ortah had sent Wizards to push the Ragnasha people into these caves. No matter how hard they tried they could not escape into the night to eat the flesh they so desired. They had tried to dig new tunnels only to find their tools broke repeatedly as they neared the surface, then no one had the strength to lift the tools. They tried to swim out only to drown and the bodies washed back into the caves. They were built to catch and eat the weaklings that called themselves human. The small muscular arms tipped with three inch razor sharp claws, would hold and tear the flesh. Their large canine teeth were meant to rip into the soft bodies. The molars designed like scissors to cut tough flesh, sinew and muscle. The large rear legs designed to leap and run for long distances. Ragnashas had heard themselves described as kangaroos gone mad. These flesh eaters had to resort to eating fungus to survive. The female Ragnasha only became fertile after consuming flesh. To keep the population from dwindling, the old were sacrificed. But things were changing, Xerba felt it. Great explosions had cracked the fabric of magic and the seals were weaker. Soon, he would lead his people up to the surface of Fetid Fens and feast. Soon, Xerba would take his hoards to Ortah and destroy these Wizards. Soon!

The apprentice mage was checking signs. Everyday that her master was gone she was to check signs. The master made her repeat the spells, practice on the screeing glass, and read the ancient scrolls with maps and charts. The girl wondered why her master had to go to the Gathering. He had told her it was to pick a new Ur-mage. The Ur-mage was the leader of all mages. The Ur-mage decided the direction of magic in Fetid Fens. The Ur-mage was the intermediary to the other worlds. It made her head hurt. Every morning after she ate, cleaned up and washed the dishes she started the routine of checking the signs. It had been weeks since the old master had gone to the ice caves of the Arctic. Every day was the same. Every sign was always the same, she knew it was a waste of energy to do the checks but she knew the master would find out if she didn’t. But this day was to be different, much different.

The young apprentice Dar’Anjlemh started the now familiar chant to check the Seals the vision of the Seals began to swirl around her head the bright red spots marking the entrances on the map now filling the air between her and the tapestry hanging on the wall. There was something wrong! The red of one of the seals was a pale yellow! What did it mean? Where was the Master? Dar’Anjlemh tried to remember what the master said to do if anything changed. There were so many different signs, so many different things one had to do if they were different. Even though it was cool in the upper reaches of the tower she was perspiring. With the map still floating in the air she remembered her notes. Dashing to her study desk she tore open the large notebook. She began to read about the Seals her hands shook as she reread about the Ragnashas. If there was any change in the Seals she had to open the scree mirror to a place called Ortah. Could she do it? What would she say? How long had it been different? What did it mean? Where was the Master?

Dar'Anjlemh started the long chant to open the scree mirror. She tried to keep the steady rhythm the master had told her would send the scree to the proper place. As she concentrated on the chant she noticed the pale yellow dot in the map still suspended in the air had changed to white. She kept up the steady beat but now her hands were shaking. While she was glancing at the map the mirror began to fade, where the reflection once was now was a dark abyss. She kept up the chant, literally quaking in her boots. The black of the mirror changed to an interior view of what seemed to be a small cottage. There was no one there. She called out "Hello is anyone there?" She was amazed that she could almost visualize her voice entering the scree and being carried untold distances.

Xerba of the Ragnashas could feel the changes in the Seals, he called out for the strongest of the Ragnashas. He told them the time was near. He sent them to a Seal in the farthest reaches of the caves. He told them to dig. They were afraid, but they did not want to become an aphrodisiac either. The went, they dug, the tools did not break, they did not fall from their hands. Xerba thought soon there would be many fertile females.

11-03-2004, 03:02
Dar’Anjlemh heard a voice, and then she saw a figure in the scree mirror. The man’s face was so clear she thought she could reach out and touch him. She knew better then to touch the active scree mirror, it was an invitation to disaster. She didn’t know quite where to start. She remembered her manners, taught to her at her mother’s knee. She began "Hello, my name is Dar’Anjlemh, I am apprenticed to D' Nerbahltan master mage, of Fetid Fens......He is away......He is going to elect an Ur-Mage.....I am supposed to check the signs.....I have been checking them everyday like I was told.....the Seals always showed up in red, but today one was yellow....now it is white....I looked in my book....it said the Ragnashas.... they they they could get out of the caves. The Ragnashas are the sworn enemies of Ortah....My book said to notify the Ortah and they would send a hero....It said...he who appears in the scree was the Chosen one and and and he would kill the Ragnashas and put them back into the ground....I....I...." thud, she fainted.

12-03-2004, 05:27
Xerba of the Ragnashas knew the time was nearing, The crack in the fabric of the Seals was widening. He urged his workers on, a slash here, a bite there and progress was being made. Soon he would smell the night air, soon he would taste flesh, soon he would spread terror into the night. After the feasting he would take his fifty best warriors and travel to Ortah. There he would end the magic that kept his people enslaved.

Dar’Anjlemh woke up she was on the floor and her head ached. The map was still hovering in the air. The white spot was now bright green. The scree mirror was silent again reflecting the stone walls of the tower. She must warn her aunt and cousin. She had never summoned a bog wolf message carrier. She wrote a hurried message explaining about the Ragnashas, the hero from Ortah, and the only way to save the two of them was to use her great uncle's Sword of Tears. He had to travel to Ortah and find the hero and present the sword to the hero. He had to do it before the Ragnashas got there. She said he must take her aunt in order to save her.
Dar’Anjlemh went to the base of the tower and opened the huge door. There she slowly calmed herself down and began to enter a trance. The tendrils of her mind reached out into the swamps. She felt the tug of a bog wolf, she began to call to him. She felt him running towards her. Would he deliver the message or kill her, she wasn't sure. Soon he appeared out of the mists. The bog wolf was as high at the shoulder as she was tall. She knew he had traveled many kilometers yet he was barely panting. Reaching up she carefully tied the note to his neck. With the tendrils of her mind she showed him her aunts cabin. She gave the bog wolf an image of her cousin. She hoped the wolf understood what she wanted. She released herself from the trance and the bog wolf took off. She closed the massive doors, set the most powerful ward she knew on the doors and the tower itself.

Xerba of the Ragnashas could feel the Seal weakening, NOW was the time. He urged his workers on. several fell to the weak but still working Seal but they were getting closer. With a deafening crack the Seal was breached. The Ragnashas were free again! There was a rush of Ragnashas out of the caves. Xerba tried to keep them organized into a more effective attack, but they were consumed with bloodlust. The unfortunate small village they first encountered was destroyed. All of the unfortunate inhabitants were killed and half consumed. The Ragnashas began to fan out. Xerba had his fill, he was satiated and needed to gather his warriors to get to Ortah. They were close to the shore. Xerba gathered 11 males and 3 females on a sandy beach. They linked arms and began to hum. The combined energy of the Ragnashas went out into the lake. After several hours just before daybreak a leviathan loomed just offshore. The little band of Ragnashas swam out to the whale like creature. They climbed onto its back. The small band of Ragnashas quickly opened a fold of skin and blubber, inside was a small chamber. The Ragnashas settled in to digest their evil meals. Xerba sent the destination to the tiny brain of the leviathan. With powerful muscles the huge beast made for the Welland canal.

Dar'Anjlemh's cousin Denth' Arbula was getting settled in for the night. He had felt a rift in the magic on the other side of the mountain. Something was amiss. Though he was very attuned to magic it was his curse that his memory was not good enough to remember the long spells needed to work great magic. The title Denth' usually meant someone with a tiny spark of magic, he could draw huge amounts of energy but he very seldom remembered the entire spell or he improvised, always with disastrous results. He felt the bog wolf at least two kilometers away. He soon realized it was headed towards his small cabin. This could only mean one thing--his cousin was in trouble. He dressed in his battle dress and woke his mother. He went outside to meet the bog wolf. The great beast quickly recognized the person to deliver the message to. The bog wolf walked right up to Denth' Arbula and rubbed his massive head across Denth' Arbula's chest. Denth' Arbula saw the note and untied it. He gave the wolf two rabbits he had killed for the next days meal. With two bites the meal was gone and so was the wolf. Denth' Arbula read the note. He showed it to his mother. She went to the mantle of the fireplace and opened a secret panel. Inside was a large sword glowing with an internal blue light. She spoke "The Ragnashas are loose. We have to get to Ortah."
-----
The two quickly packed and headed towards the ruined keep on top of the nearby ridge. There they met a wizened old lady. Denth' Arbula always suspected she had some elf blood in her. They showed her the note and the sword. The aged one nodded and took Denth' Arbula's hand. She would need his power, combined with her skill, she would be able to complete her task. Coaxed by the power still resident in the old women Denth' Arbula began to draw power from the very soul of the land. With her guiding him he drew even more power than he thought possible. She began a long chant in a language he did not know. It seemed like hours they stood there together, one drawing power the other using it. He felt rather then saw something huge, very far off. As the creature drew near he could sense the energy possessed by the beast. IT WAS A DRAGON!!

Hans Jakeway: Are you sure this is such a good idea?

Marcus McMillian II: Listen, my father's death is the perfect time to do this. He was always a goody two shoes who never could sieze the oppertunity. You know he botched everything from the beginning. But now, I think we can pull this off.

Jakeway: Yeah, I remember hearing about how he could never seem to follow through with his plans.

McMillian II: Well, no more of that. I need your help though. We're three votes from taking control of the upper house, and I'm counting on you to swing them.

Jakeway: Don't worry, there's people who owe me big for their spots in parliament.

McMillian II: Good. My father will be dead soon, and I'll be in position to take control of Manarth.

Jakeway: I might be a bit presumptious asking this... but Franklin?

McMillian II: What you don't know, can't hurt you. He's old too. I don't think he'll live long enough to be involved in this.

Jakeway: I... see. Well, you're father's death will be the signal then.

McMillian: And how fitting, that both should die on such a holy day.

::All throughout Manarth, preparations are being made for the Anniversery of Rememberance; the day Manarthians honor the soldiers and veterans of their wars. Instituted in the year after the Manarthian Civil War, it serves as a reminder of the threat centralized power...

But nowadays it is more of a festival, than a patriotic hommage to democracy and civil rights. Few remembered the days of Evans and his loyal generals, and fewer still faught amoung their ranks. The last two icons of the era, Mark McMillan and Thomas Franklin, are pushing a hundred.::

Cornfelly: Results so far, Democratic Republicans 5 members, Radical Liberals 1 member, Al Abed Asif (ED) (Part of DS party) 1 member, Conservative 6 members, Democratic Socialists 7 members.

Wallace: And the DR and DS block in the senate is 60%. So you can expect more than the one they need to hold the place.

Confelly: Breaking news... It seemes the Lower House has voted, and... What the F***!

Wallace: Yes! Conservatives and Democratic Republicans have formed a last minute deal! Giving the new C/DR block 65% control of the lower house and a 16 member block in the Upper House!

Confelly: Unpresidented folks, it looks as though we will have a conservative PM for only the third time ever.

Wallace: Now let's not rush to conclusions, it could be a trick by the DR to get one of their more moderate guys in power.

Confelly: Well, let's see the voting in the Upper House...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PM Zev Killian: And the votes are as follows...

Killian: 8
Bradshaw: 1
McMillian: 15
Ionia: 1

Congratulations Mark McMillian II, you are Manarth's new Prime Minister.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confelly: Amazing, Mark McMillian II, son of the legondary Mark McMillian, a former DR party member, is elected on the conservative ticket, with DR votes of simpathy for his father's death.

Wallace: *Grinning ear to ear* And so the son of a Eastern Detroitian imigrant and a Council of Clanian imigrant is now in charge of the great country of Manarth. Should be fun to watch.

Confelly: That's all for now, join us next week when we go over his selections for office. This has been Confelly and Wallace.

In the southern peninsula of Fetid Fens the Ragnashas have been ravaging the small towns along the Swamp Gas Mountains. The wizards, sorcerers, hedge wizards, bush sorcerers and anyone else not at the wizards conventions have been working to contain the Ragnashas. They have set up an invisible wall that is holding the onslaught from entering the city of Miresburg. They are weakening from their efforts and the Ragnashas seem to be tireless, attacking at every perceived weak spot.

Dar'Anjlemh hopes the Hero from Ortah arrives soon. The Ragnashas appear to have a new leader, Brineth. Brineth is as ruthless as the former leader Xerba.

Dar’Anjlemh had set the wards on the tower and temporarily moved to Miresburg to help with the invisible wall to protect the city. She had received the strangest message from the Imperial Palace. The good news was that the Hero from Ortah was on his way. The strange part of the message was he was on a mechanical levithan.

She asked the old half-elf woman if that was possible. The old woman mearly shrugged her shoulders and Dar’Anjlemh was left to wonder if the woman knew about such things or simply dismissed them from her mind.

Brineth, leader of the Ragnashas was directing the attack on the shimmering wall stopping any progress towards the human city. Almost all of the Ragnasha women were with cubs, but the humans have been taking a toll on the Ragnashas. These new weapons that throw little spears through the air have been injuring many Ragnashas. He wanted to tear into the city and push the humans off the peninsula. With a little rest the population of Ragnashas would double soon.

Brineth felt something it caused the hair on his neck to rise, it felt very similar to what he felt before a mating battle but different. If he had known the emotion of fear, he would have know what he was feeling.

For the first time in almost two centuries a Hero from Ortah was walking on Fetid Fen soil. Brineth should have been looking for a place to protect the women and a good place to battle. Brineth was very big for a Ragnasha, he was an excellent fighter both of Ragnashas and of humans. This is a necessary quality to be a leader of the Ragnashas, but it is not the sole quality, intellegence is also a very desirable character trait, one that Bineth was sadly lacking.

The small band of Ragnashas looked up from their feast and noticed a human standing nearby. This human looked different, and he didn't seem to be cowering in fear of the Ragnashas. They didn't care, their bellies were full, their minds empty. They started towards the swordsman walking along the beach.

E-C-N Corporation has just set up on a rocky spit of land 30 miles off the coast of West Palm Beach. The only structure on the Island is an 18th century chateau, Chateau Castor Peau, built by the French during the fur wars in the early 1700s. There is a very modern pier with fuel, electric, steam and potable water hookups.

No matter what the population stats say the real population is stable at 1,500 people give or take a few operatives. They all live in the chateau or the underground training facilities.

The amount of antennas on the island is impressive.

The CEO of the E-C-N Corporation, Aldolpho Locoaleman, is in the topmost room of the highest turret in the Chateau Castor Peau. Aldolpho is a slender man about 5' 8" with hazel eyes and dark brown hair. He is a ruthless man and has risen to the top of El-Cosa-Nazi by murder, mayhem, and coldblooded slaughter. He is talking with his number two Ranceed Carne.

Aldolpho is agitated and he says "That butcher of Manarth is now in power. He tried several times to wipe us out when he was Assistant to the Under Secretary of Improbable Intelligence for all of Manarth. I want you to plan the perfect assassination and then one of the Aryan race will be declared leader of Manarth.

Aldolpho dismisses Ranceed with a wave of his hand. He pushes a button on his desk and deep in the recesses of the Chateau a buzzer rings. Aldolpho says into the intercom "I want a liter of lager, now."

The shadowy man guides the parachute down to a safe landing in the middle of an empty 4 lane highway. This place is creepy. He thinks. There are no cars, people, it is quiet with nothing but a slight breeze blowing. It's a short ride the pilot said -- "hah you need a vehicle first" the man says to himself. He loads the TAC-50 onto his shoulder and begins walking down the highway.

After about 6 kilometers he finds an abandoned car and it looks like it might run. There is a skeleton in the drivers seat. The man sweeps the bones out of the car and tries to start it. It acts like a dead battery. The car is on a slight incline so the man pushes it down hill and manages to jump start the engine. It runs erraticaly belching smoke out of the exhaust.

It will do until something better comes along/ he mulls. He finds himself running over 3 headed toads for sport along the way.

The man, Pierre Le Pom, has been talking to the voice in his head for about 6 months now. "I'm going to find the perfect place to do this job"

"I know, I know, but he just took over as Head-of-State he won't know much about security."

Pierre chuggs into the seedier outskirts of Lake Clark City and finds a used car lot. As soon as he pulls into the lot an oily looking salesman comes out to greet him. The salesman steps back with furtive glances around him when he sees the rather large TAC-50.

Pierre tells the man to come closer, he wants a car that doesn't smoke as much. "A deal is a deal" the salesman shrugs and asks how much Pierre wants to spend.

Pierre answers "The voice in my head says $200 is about right for that beat up VW Bug."

The salesman usually an excellent bargainer decides a man with a huge sniper rifle and talking to voices in his head should be handled with care and quickly. "You have a deal, sir"

Pierre says "Good put some temporary plates on this baby and I will be out of here." He pays the man $200, glues the temporary plate in the back window. He askes how to get to the government offices in Lake Clark City. Against his better judgement the salesman tells Pierre how to get there. Pierre takes off.

Pierre Le Pom parks the VW bug in a side street and pulls out his duffel bag, he quickly snaps a few pieces of plastic around the TAC-50 and some more around the large noise suppressor. He buckles a large foam, velcro adorned "Soft cast" onto his foot. Using the camouflaged rifle parts as crutches he hobbles down the alleyway.

He starts muttering to himself "Diego Jenkins, the job is Diego Jenkins" after a slight pause where Pierre seems to be listening to someone. He continues "Of course the one in Manarth, not the one in New Edenstein" another pause "No, he didn't say which one, it has to be Manarth."

Pierre finds a convenient bush overlooking the main street and more importantly the steps of a large government building often used by the Prime Minister of Manarth to make political announcements.

Pierre starts another conversation with no-one around him "Yes, I know they sometimes use this building right next to us" a pause "This gives us the best shot and it is only 1200 meters to the steps." a longer pause "If they show up next to us we will deal with it. Don't worry, we can handle this, and quit shouting at me." He settles in behind the thick bushes and sets up the MAC-50, attaching the noise suppressor. He says to the bush "Nobody will suspect a cripple could do an assassination. We will get out of here don't worry."

Jane: Sir's the Undersecratary is here to see you..

Charlesburg: Send him in...

*Undersecretay Ulonovich walks in wearing a military uniform, he takes off his hat and puts in under is arm as he shakes the two mens hands*

Ulonovich: Gentleman, sorry I am a little late, it appears your country has not installed an airstrip capable of landing the HALO shuttles at, you will have to upgrade your stips when we begin to move in troops and heavy equipment such as tanks and dry dock facilities...

Charlesburg: Well.. yeah.. umm... we'll talk about that latter..

Astair: Sir what was it that you needed to speak to us so urgently about.

Ulonovich: I see getting down to buisness... Well we in Edenstein are concerned about the course that this colony has taken... the trade agreement with Manarth should of been forwarded to our office.

Charlesburg: Well sir, it is of concern to us, and our immediate well being, and we figured that letting the people decide what course to take..

Ulonovich: Don't you see... the people don't know whats good for them... I noticed in the voting results there was opposistion to it... That is not good government policy

Astair: There was opposistion.. because the people representatives where opposed to it... obviously they thought that a treaty was a bad idea...

*Ulonovich turns and looks out the window.. and sees that the walls surrounding New Linux are nearing completion*
Ulonovich: Well, then you must silence that opposistion, Your jobs are here to make the people think that they have a voice... make appearances at shopping malls, kiss babies and what not... all matters of international relations and domestic issues are to be forwarded to our office for the *turns and looks at the two men* Proper authorities to decide...

*Astair's face turns a deep shade of red... Charlesburg's jaw drops*

Astair: With all do respect Undersecretary, we are here because the people voted for us... to look out for THEIR intrests... we will continue to do so... we left the LETI region because our people where feeling like their voices where not being heard....and it is obvious today.. that we where right in that assumption...

Ulonovich: Well sir... need I remind you that you are STILL Citizens of Edenstein, and are under a charter that was given by the governmnet to settle here....

Charlesburg: Now Undersecratary, we have been overworked as of late setting up all the vestiages of the government, and VP Astair has been under considerable stress....

Ulonovich: I understand....*He puts his hat back on* You will have a report within the afternoon as to your duties and responsibilities... good day gentleman... *Ulonovich turns and opens the door from the office and returns back to Edenstein, the President and the VP remain in the office*

Charlesburg: I think I'm begining to see why the government gave us our charter in this region...

Astair: Yes it has become very painfully obvious....

Diego Jenkins, acting prime minister, is holding his first major press conference to discuss current relations with Featherstones America (CSA or FA for you new people) and the newer nations of LOTI. A gruff but short man, he'd gained noteriety as a fighter pilot, and the first Manarthian in space (Aboard a CoC spaceship, but no one really remembers that).

He is accompanied by Robert Ionia, the current Chief of Military Operations, and Press Secretary Howard Ansley as well as the military leaders of most of the locally based units (for PR).

As for guards, Jenkins has four marines as part of his honor guard. In addition, marines and army MPs have set up a perimiter and are checking the identity and cargo of anyone entering the area.

As the Marines patrol, they ignore the crippled man who is already there, everyone assuming someone else has delt with him.

Ansley: Ladies and gentlemen, collected members of the press... We are under some serious stress as of late, but we are doing everything we can to make sure everything is running smoothly....

His speach goes on, meanwhile, inside the building, Jenkins and Ionia are argueing...

Jenkins: We can not attack Featherstones America! They are doing what is purely within their right as a nation, and I will not risk alienating a LOTI nation. Plus there's Dubelco!

Ionia: I don't care, Dubelco kidnapped our PM, and we can't just let it slide like nothing's happened. What if they brought him out, put a gun to his head, and forced him to sign a treaty requiring Manarth to surrender? The people would follow it. See if they don't. But with an enemy, you see, we can galvenize the public. And what better enemy that a big old scary dictatorship in our own back yard, and a big scary dictatorship in big scary LETI?

Jenkins: I will not throw away the lives of my countrymen and women to satisfy some sick sense of revenge.

Ansley: And now the acting Prime Minster Diego Jenkins will say a few words...

Jenkins: Listen, after the speach I'll let you in on a secret. You're the CMO, you probubly should have known from the start. We just can't risk letting everyone know about this.

Ionia: Okay, then get the hell out there.

Jenkins walks up to the podium and begins his speach.

Pierre sees the Manarthian acting Prime Minister Diego Jenkins appear at the podium. "Yes, Yes I see him." Pierre says to the voice in his head. He lines up the shot and again argues with the voice in his head. "A head shot is better, there is no doubt." after a slight pause "Ok, if you insist center body mass it is."

Pierre waits until there is a clean shot and holding his breath and timing the shot between heartbeats he squeezes off a shot from the TAC-50. The noise suppressor does its job, but there still is a loud thwapp and the unmistakable crack of the projectile breaking the sound barrier.

Unfortunately, the shot wasn't perfect. Unfortunatley for Diego Jenkins, because it hit his right shoulder, and the high power bullet tore his arm completely off, sending him spinning one way and the arm another.

"It wasn't the best of shots I know" he says to the voice in his head. "If you could keep you mouth shut when I am lining up I would have done a better job." This time a little louder. Pierre has forgotten the crowd and the fact he is trying to blend into the mob of people bent on getting away from the assissination. He carries on the argument with the persistant voice in his head.

Estabi: Well, who's behind it? That's the first thing I want to know. We've been awfully tollerent about terrorism in the past, and I think that's been our biggest mistake. What we need now is a target, any target, so we can make an example of these creatures.

Ret. Gen. Zimmerman: Intelligence thinks it's one of the following groups; Stranded Kusoans for a Manarthian Free World, El-Cosa-Nazi, Dubelco hired help, some other group of Orthodox Prophetians pissed at the secular steps our country has taken, Eastern Detroit freedom fighters... no offence sir.

Estabi: None taken. I sometimes consider myself more Manarthian than EDan.

Zimmerman: With all respect sir, the EDans are Manarthians now, sometimes they just forget it.

Estabi: Correct, continue.

Zimmerman: Featherstones America operatives. We found evidence of a WPB cargo plane that dropped something over the ruins of St. Matthewstown two days before the attack.

Admiral Orpheus Smith: And that's FA how?

Zimmerman: Simple, it flew out of FA, stopped in WPB to pick up "things" and continued through our airspace to the FA and Dubelco bases to our north.

Estabi: All circumstantial. Any hard evidence who's behind this?

Zimmerman: Intell has nothing hard, but simply choose from our list and we'll lie convincingly...

Estabi: Not how I want to do things, unless I have to. Meanwhile, we're here for a more important reason. Featherstone's ships are blockading Port Hrabe. Now, we've manged to move in some ships under heavy escourt, and they've been letting the foreign ships alone for now, but obviously it's severly limiting our ability to conduct trade out of that port. Not to mention ít's the home port for the newly commissioned 5th fleet, which has almost run out of fuel escourting our ships in and out. We just can't let it continue. Any suggestions?

Gen. Paul Welland: I'd like to be brought up to speed by the folks in charge of our militarys before I make any statements.

Gen. Paul Isaskis: We could start shelling them. We've got surface to surface missiles stationed in the hill sorounding the bay, it wouldn't be hard to start fireing. One run of B-1Bs, and a salvo of missiles should scare them off. Hit a few, cripple a few more, and we'd have made our message clear.

Gen. Ivan Illych: Why not just take them all out. Massive airstrike, overwhelming their airpower. We've got the 2nd Air Corps based out of Port Hrabe and Euclid, why not use them. They'll be more than enough to take out one archaic Kitty Hawk Carrier and some WWII era battleships. Plus a handfull of subs. No problem at all.

Adm. Orpheus Smith: Are you people daft? That subpack is more trouble than anything else they have. Six Seawolf class subs, two Silencers, and an Ohio hiding in international waters as a reserve? Yes their fleet is mothballed at best, but they've got a lot of what they have, and they'd hit back. I'm not sure why Diego Jenkins was trying diplomacy so hard, but he must have had his reasons. Let's not start GLWIII here.

Paul Welland: Okay, here's what I think. Give them a warning shot. One round of B-1B's fireing blind. Target locks, but with out guidence systems on their rounds. If they don't take the hint, we go with Illych's plan.

Smith: But....

Estabi: No buts now. We're going with Mr. Welland's plan. Now, who has any thoughts on the FFW treaty?...

In a small row boat off shore from New Edenstein

Jacques Grimaldi is squinting at a small sandy beach not far in the distance. He is the leader of a small band of commandos hired to take out a foreign dignitary. He is talking with other members of the group "The boss is getting cheaper and cheaper, he wouldn't let us even have a motor this time."

Nigel Weatherson, second-in-command "I know, this used to be a first class outfit. I was talking to Susan Smith, you know, the assistant to the Chief Financial Officer and she said the boss had lots of money tied up in some operation up north."

Fernando Sanchez was carefully checking out an advanced stinger missle launcher and beside him was a large metal case containing two stinger missiles. He asks Jacques what the job is this time.

Jacques answers "We are supposed to take out some Edenstein pest, keeps bothering the new people here in New Edenstein, that's all I know. His plane is due at the airfield North of here in about three hours." He continues "We want to shoot the plane in the air, that eliminates any firefight with his security guards. His name is Ulonovich or something like that."

The small boat lands on the sandy beach and the crew hurriedly drag it into the underbrush and erase any evidence of their passing.

Jacques Grimaldi's team finally makes it to the end of the newly constructed airstrip. They have been slogging through the primal forests for almost 2 hours. During the trip Jacques received a call from headquarters. He relays the message to the team "Ulonovich is on a commercial 707, it will be arriving in minutes."

Fernando Sanchez checks the settings on the stinger and hoists it to his shoulder.

Soon the team sees a speck off in the distance. Jacques is the first to notice "They are landing in the wrong direction, they will be on the ground by the time they get in range. OK change of plans. When the plane lands it will be right in front of us to turn and taxi back to the terminal shack. When it is half way turned open fire on the wheels. When the plane stops and they evacuate with the inflatable slides, that's when we take out Ulonovich."

Jacques teams never have a problem with ammo. Jacques is a firm believer in If 100 rounds is the right amount, then 200 is better, 300 makes more sense and so lets take 400.

The team lines up a combination of AK47s M16s and an M4 with Jacques using his favorite .300 Weatherby. If it can take out an elk at 1,000 yards then a human should be toast.

*the bullets blow out the tires on the left hand side of the plane, (One closest to the terrorists I'm assuming), it starts careening to the left as the pilot tries to gain some control of the plane, the bullets hitting the wings penetrate deep, hitting the fuel tanks and they begin to leak. Normaly, this would have been avoided by the self sealing fuel tanks, but on the particular 707 the tanks had not been serviced. The fuel flows out on to the runway as the pilot is able to bring the plane to a halt. From the terminal fire crews and airport police head down the runway, but are still almost a mile away*

Jacques Grimaldi watches as the 707 comes to an unsteady stop. He is waiting for the doors to open and then get their target. He sees the fire trucks approaching and still no activity on the plane. He tells Fernando Sanchez to take out the fire engine with one of the stingers.

Fernando Sanchez launches a stinger at the fire engine. Jacques tells Nigel Weatherson to fire an incendary grenade at the fuel on the ground. "That will get the rats to abandon ship." He expounds. Nigel fires a grenade from his grenade launcher, at the leaking fuel around the left wing of the 707.

Jacques lines up his Weatherby on the rear door.

*Neal tibits, a junior firefighter on his first day, is driving the lead firetruck, he is excited to be on a call his first day, he honks on the horn a few times as some of the other fighter fighters laugh at him, he cranks up the siren as they go barreling down the tarmac. Neal checks his mirrors and looks forward just in time to see the stinger hit the front of his truck, vaporizing him instantly, and most of the rest of the firefighters, the truck careens to the left and takes out the truck right behind it*

*The incindiary grenade hits the ground beneath the plane and sits there....

and continues to sit there.....

still waiting....

The rear door right behind the wing swings open as a flight attendent opens the door and the inflatable yellow ramp springs out... she has on the yellow life vest for a water landing

As the grenade finally goes off, ingniting the fuel on the ground and sending shrapnal everywhere, including into the flight attendent, she grasps her chest and falls out of the door and is dead before she hits the pavement*

*Ulonovich gets up out of his seat and retrieves his handgun from the overhead compartment, pure unadulterated mayhem is ensuing, he makes his way down the inside compartment as other people make their way for the exit. He runs into two Edenstein Marines who stand up and salute him*

Ulonovich: Men, we need to get out of here, that last explosion sounded like a grenade, lets get out of here and let these rats fend for themselves...

Marines: Sir Yes Sir!

Ulonovich: Lets head to the front of the plane.... I that will probably be the easiest to get out....

*they head to the front of the plane against the massive flux of people*

*On the tarmac itself, people are spewing out of the plane, and after the explosion of the fire truck, 3 Huey Cobra's have been dispatched to the area, as well as a company of infantry*

Grimaldi asks Nigel "Where did you get that IC grenade?"

Nigel "In the stockroom before we left."

Grimaldi "Do you have any more?"

Nigel "Yes, look it says Made in Dubelco use before 1979"

Grimaldi "Great, next time pick newer equipment. Sanchez take out the lead chopper with a stinger. The rest of you start eliminating the ground forces moving towards us. Nigel, you and I will try to pick off this Ulonovich guy and anyone with him."

The team begins to lay down a withering fire at the approaching ground forces. Sanchez launches a stinger at the lead chopper and loads the last stinger missile into the launcher. Nigel and Jacques scan the ground around the plane for Ulonovich. It is getting harder to see anyone because of the fire and smoke. To add to the confusion the passengers are running in all directions to get away from the fuel fire, the cross fire from the E-C-N operatives, the noise of the choppers and the crash of the fire trucks.

Jacques "Crap we are getting nowhere, Sanchez thread that stinger into the door in the aft of the plane, try and get him that way.

Sanchez launches the stinger, as soon as he does that the entire team moves to the North about 300 yards, in the same direction the plane is pointed. They stop firing at the oncoming ground forces so they don't give their position away.

Jacques "That should be enough confusion to slow the infantry advance."

Breaking News!

Confelly: I'm Patricia Confelly, here with my co-host William Wallace. Our top story tonight, continued killings of Dubelcoan born immigrants in all parts of Manarth is continueing despite the best police efforts to the contrary.

Wallace: The most recent victim was Achmed Al-Rashad Usla, a Eastern Detroitian born under the harsh rule of Dubelcoan soldiers. He fled his fatherland, but was killed in Northern Brittania after being targeted as a citizen of Dubelco.

Confelly: That's right William. He joins the list of five others of Dubelcoan citizenship that have been killed in recent weeks, mostly in Northern Brittania. The government speculates that it is a retaliation by private citizens against the Dubelcoan siezure of the Manarthian Prime Minister Mark McMillian, though no one has claimed responsibility for these killings.

Wallace: I agree that this has gone too far. Although McMillian was the best PM we ever have, and the current administration has done nothing to get him back, there is no reason to kill innocent Dubelcoans who most likely have simply fled to a better life in Manarth. We should look at this instead as an example of why we need a better police force. I mean, hell, MadderMike is almost lower than we are in crime.

Confelly: I like not having intrusive searches, and if that means I have to have a security guard walk me to my car every night, so be it.

Wallace: *sigh* Well, on to other news. The Manarthian Fighting Doves signed star running back Thomas Quincy to another extention...

The napalm blasts incinerates the forest just behind Grimaldi's little task force. Two of the operatives catch fire and start running around screaming, and setting more of the forest on fire. Grimaldi yells at them to drop and roll, but they continue to run around. Grimaldi and Sanchez each shoot one of them to quiet them down.

The remaining 4 team members start to run away from the flames. The fire is intense and spreading rapidly. Bullets from the infantry company whizz through the brush like angry hornets. Sanchez catches one in the leg and goes down. He waves the others on saying "They will never catch me alive." He crawls to a good defensive position and lines up his ammo and a few grenades and waits for the advancing troops.

The three remaining operatives sprint to a position overlooking the forward part of the 707. It is very difficult to see much of anything with the napalm started fires, the plane burning and the smoldering aft part of the 707. Grimaldi thinks maybe he shouldn't have had the fire engines destroyed.

Sanchez uses the butt of his rifle to dig into the earth near a large tree. He hides behind the trunk of the tree in the shallow depression he has managed to dig out. With his M16 he fires short 3 round bursts at the muzzle flashes of the advancing infantry. After he fires he again hides behind the tree trunk. The sounds of angry bullets whizzing by and many thunking into the tree is a constant reminder to Sanchez to stay alert. The loss of blood is beginning to take its toll. To stay awake Sanchez throws an anti-personnel grenade at the troops.

Grimaldi and Nigel watch as the front door of the 707 opens. Several shadows emerge from the plane. Grimaldi and Nigel start shooting as best as they can. When a human shape appears in the smoke they take a shot at it. They are shooting at center body mass, no time for head shots now. They cannot determine if they have hit anything.

President Charlsburg it has come to my attention that you are setting up a new nation in LOTI. My advisors inform me that you are trying to establish a new order for your people. As you are probably aware this region is a smoldering powder keg of nations each with their own agendas. These nations may not always respect the Sovereignty of a small emerging nation.

I would like to begin a discourse in how we may work together to allow your nation to survive and thrive in this region. We are always looking for new customers at the casinos and of course trade. We offer some of the finest tobacco, buffalo hide, and hand made leather. We are always seeking supplies of silver and turquoise for our heritage jewelry.

We have a large naval presence in LOTI and a modern airforce. Our ground forces are trained and use modern equipment.

Please contact this office to continue these discussions.

At the airport, Ulonovich is scoping there area, evaluating the situation, he stands up and begins walking towards the action, he sees two muzzle flashes when a person drops down from the plane, the two bullets blast through the hapless passanger killing him instantly, the bullet from Jacques gun passes through the passenger and into Ulonovich's right shoulder, the other bullet remains loged in the left lung of the previous person.

Before Ulonovich Hits the tarmac he manages to fire off two rounds from his 44 Magnum towards where the muzzle flashes came from, the first shot is fairly accurate, the second one is aimed high, due to him falling backwards and the recoil from the first shot.

Jacques jacks another round into the Weatherby and hears a bullet clipping through the underbrush. It clips Nigel alongside his head, putting a neat part in his hair, probably a little low to be fashionable. It will be most difficult to hide the missing top third of his left ear. The energy in the .44 magnum knocks Nigel to the ground unconcious.

Jacques watched the man who fired the shots fall to the ground. The smoke obsucres all but his foot and what is probably the crotch of his pants. Jacques shrugs his shoulder and fires once more this time at the crotch.

The brilliant flash of light startles the other concious member of the squad and temporarily blinds him. This has an odd effect of calming him and he loads another magazine into the AK47 blindly. He fires a series of short bursts towards where he thought the oncoming troops were.

::Premier Reginald Bartlett Holds a press conference::

Cristina Rather CNN(Clan News Network) News: Mr. Premier what of the massive call up off CoC forces, The entire Military seems to be on a High state of Alert.

Bartlett: Well while our nation was in its Isolationist stance too much happen and we are just trying to make up for it

Rather: Like what?

Bartlett: Mainly the seizure of DPM land, being DPM's Oldest and closest ally we feel we had a stake in that land, also having forces nearby we were ready to take said land, well we seek to remedy this. And with this remedy we ask a question. Why does Dubelco come into our lake, Establish military bases, basically setting themselves up to strangle our great nations interests in this region and the world in general. Before they had no reason to post a permanent fleet here, Now they have half a dozen naval bases and a setup that could seel us within this lake, unable to come to the aid of our Allies outside the region should they be attacked. Also what is the reason for these bases? what is in Lake Ontario that is so precious that Dubelco needs to protect? Featherstones America? I think that is one nation, One nation that I deeply respect, that can handle itself. Plus there have been no major threats to Featherstones America, ever as far as I can remember or see. So what are they in need of extra protection for? Can they not protect themselves or do they need a Dubelcoan Big Brother beside them at all times. Mr. Featherstone, I would definitely like to work out a profitable relationship within this lake between your great nation and our own. One that excludes the overactive invadeaholic Dubelcoans. Need I remind you about Eastern Detroit. Dubelco was a close staunch Allie of Eastern Detroit and when Eastern Detroit was complacent and had its back turned, the entire Dubelcoan Military came down on them like a ton of bricks. Dubelco is definitely a nation that backstabs their allies. CoC has done none of that, they may have pulled support in an allied war but they never flat out attacked a nation they had a Mutual Defense treaty with. We even offer you the entire Island of Kusa if you boot all Dubelcoan Forces out of your nation and lands you control, which should leave their base count much smaller, and I believe that will help keep the region stabilized, and less threatened.

Sorry there got off on a tangent.

Oh and West Palm Beach Companies, whatever Dubelco is paying for their bases, we can pay you more if you do not grant them any leases.

Rather: Ummm wow, Mr. Premier, you still have not explained why you have mobilized forces.

Bartlett: Oh that, that was just a rather expensive test, to prove how fast my forces can be mobilized and where they are able to strike on short notice, they are standing down and returning to base at the moment.

::Across the nation forces come off alert, Warplanes are pulled back into their hangars for maintainence and Ships begin returning to their regular patrol zones::

Bartlett: And if that answers all of your questions good night.

Rather: ONE MORE QUESTION!!?!?!?!?!!

Bartlett: Fine, what is it?

Rather: what of the 16th Airborne MP brigade that is currently in MadderMike

Bartlett: Oh them, they are there to help train up the MadderMike MP corps, to make the MadderMike Military a much better Unit, so they are conducting Exercises with MadderMike MP's.

Rather: So they have nothing to do with MadderMike's Ultimatum to New Dubelco?

Bartlett: Nothing at all.

St Lawrence River

Hungry Trout is making his way back to Indian Casino Operator in his little sloop. He made the sloop himself from 100 year old plans. It was a suprisingly agile and sturdy craft. He had been fishing and relaxing before getting back to his job as a blackjack dealer.

He notices a fierce firefight at the normally placid Manarthian outpost. He can't make out who is fighting who but this is obviously no drill.

Hungry Trout gets on his homemade Ham radio putting out a massive 5 watts of power and sends a morse code message to anyone who can receive his message.

In an LHA off the coast of the lands formerly known as CWL

Radioman Second Class Stupid Crow has been listening to the ham radio frequencies during idle time. He is a morse code fanatic and gets quite a kick out of doing the translation in his head. He hears a faint broken-up message about some sort of battle in the St. Lawrence River. The message is repeated over and over. Stupid Crow records the message and calls the Comm Officer over to listen. By now Stupid Crow has typed the message for all to read.

Not sure what he has the Comm Officer takes the message to the CO. The CO gets on the scrambler and notifies Chief Standing Bull. Chief Standing Bull not sure what he has either sends a Flash message to Chief Howling Wolf.

Chief Howling Wolf not knowing what is going on sends a message to Prime Minister Estabi

Another guard is shot by the covering fire, and lies clutching his arm, on the ground. The guards continue to fire towards the advancing Dubelcoans. Suddenly, a light streaks out towards the Briefing room.

Guards: RPG!!!

The grenade hits the room, and blows the walls inward, crushing one of the guards, and Westbrook, under a cascading cluster of rubble. The guard's scull is smashed, and Westbrook's legs are pinned under the rubble.

One of the dock workers, trying to be stealthy, and with Guard coverfire, has run towards a undamaged PT boat, trying to get at it's .50 caliber Machine gun.

Chief Howling Wolf sends an encrypted Flash Message to Chief Standing Bull apprising him of the situation and telling him to make haste in assisting the base under attack and appointing him area commander.

In an LHA off the coast of the lands formerly known as CWL
Chief Standing Bull has had the radio rooms of the three LHAs triangulate the location of the radio signal and they have come up with a best guess estimate of the base under attack. He has sent a request to ICO intelligence to see if there is a spy satellite pass in that area. The satellite images are actually routed from MadderMike who in turn steals them from other countries. Everyone thought with the whaling fiasco that this would have been cut off but the MadderMikians probably forgot about the whole thing.

Chief Standing Bull estimates they are still about 45 minutes to an hour from being able to launch the choppers to get to the attack site. He sends a message to OP-Command in ICO asking if military units are in the area.

After a very tense 10 minutes a reply comes in that the latest experimental Sea Shadow catamaran medium endurance cutter from Clydebank Shipyards, bearing two MK38 25mm machine guns and 15 Indian Scouts (Seal Team) are about 10 minutes away if they go at full speed. The cutter has not yet been certified to attempt a full speed run.

Chief Standing Bull sends a Flash message to the CO of the cutter, explaining the situation, the probable location of the base, and takes full responsibility for any damage caused by doing a full speed run at this stage in the acceptance trials.

The CO of the cutter LT Frying Bacon acknowledges the order and gives the order to proceed full speed ahead. The crew estimates the ship is moving at 45 knots or more. The CO briefs the leader of the Indian Scouts as best he can, unknown layout, unknown enemy, unknown status of the defenders, unknown size of the enemy force, unknown reason for the attack. "Do your best." is all he can say.

At Mu-1 base...

Omega Flight, still not advancing, shoots at any guards/forces they see.

At the docks...

Bravo Flight begins to move when guard fire from the dock catches them off guard. Omega 6 is hit.

BFL: 6 is hit, take cover!

They hault their movement. Bravo six is hit in the left arm, bleeding badly. Bravo 8(Saw Man) begins to fire on the guards on the dock more sustained. Omega 7 see's someone moving along a PT boat, but can't see it well enough from his position. He yells for someone to RPG the boat, but the others can't until the suppresion fire allows them to move, as they are flat on the ground.

Alpha and the Engineers make their way through the buildings picking off anyone they see. Alpha makes it to what appears to be the armory and fans out.

AFL: Ok boys, set up screen here. Engineers, plant explosives on all buildings.

Moving in groups of 2, one setting one covering, the engineers begin to set C-4 remote charges on the buildings. Alpha waits for any guards to appear.

The guard that mannaged to man the .50 opens fire, raking the Dubelco possitions around Alpha Flight. Two more guards are shot during the Dubelco advance, bringing the total of incompacitated or dead Manarthians to 7, with one wounded but fireing. 12 remain unhurt, plus 2 in the rubbled briefing room.

The dock workers that tried to reach the armory are also quickly shot by the attacking soldiers, before they could take up defensive possitions. The remaining 9 flee towards the main base.

At the main base, Soldiers awoke to the sounds of fireing, and have begun to collect their gear. Some of the faster ones have begun moving towards the port on foot. ETA, 4 minutes (2 posts) for about 13 of the fasters soldiers, in ad hoc squad formations. ETA 6 minutes (3 posts) for another 21.

At Mu-1 base....

The men of (I'm assuming it was a mistype) Bravo Flight get raked by the .50 cal. Bravo's 3, 5, and 6 are wounded badly with not much hope.

BFL: Damn that gun! Alpha leader we are pinned down and taking casualties.
....
AFL: Copy, we are not in a position to help, Engineers still working.
....
BFL: Copy that.
....
AFL: Engineers, how long!
....
Eng.3: First charges set. 2 more minutes tops(one post).
....
AFL: Screw it all, Alpha 2, 3, and 6 with me!

Alpha leader moves down through the remainder of the base towards the waters edge countering any guards they may pass.(I'm guessing its not a small place) Upon clearing guards and ground they take up positions and open fire on remaining dock guards and PT-Boat with RPG's/XM-8's.

Omega Flight is taking heavy fire now from the base.

OFL: Alpha leader men are moving in the base, perhaps towards you. We are taking heavy fire. Omega 6 and 7 are hit.
....
En route to the dock...
AFL: Copy that, 2 minutes more, wait for my signal to pull out.
....
OFL: Copy that. Omega, use up the RPG's!!

Omega's 2, 3, and 4 switch to RPG's on command and begin to fire until their ammo is used up, firing at any guards they see.

Of the remaining 12 soldiers, 2 are shot by Alpha Leads run towards the PT boat.

The reinforcements, coming from the main base, have hit Omega before they could arrive at the base to help. Hit with RPGs and fired on from defensive possitions, they take heavy losses. 5 are hit, 2 are killed instantly, and 3 more are wounded. The remaining 7 halt, and take up defensive possitions, awaiting reinforcements.

In the rubbled breifing room, Hawthorn has taken charge of the two remaining guards, one of which is busy trying to free Westbrook from the rubble pinning his legs.

Hawthorn: Just leave him for now, he'll be fine once we clear out these attackers. Follow me.

Hawthorn and the two guards exit the building through the now ruined wall, Hawthorn only stopping to pick up and turn the safety off of the fallen guard's OICW carbine. Suddenly, Alpha lead, and his troops run across his path. Their covering fire goes wide. He and the guards open fire, though they aren't sure if they hit anyone.

Hawthorn: Come on now, we can't waste time on these small frys. We've need more men to win this.

They head off, towards the main base, in order to flank Omega and free the reinforcements.

By the docks, a PT boat has been sighted farther down the river, and racing towards the Manarthian base. It is holding fire for now, not sure what part of the base is held by friend, and what is held by foe.

The explosion is big. As Hawthorn is thrown to the ground by the blast, he can distantly (actually kinda close, but to his ears it's distant) the sounds of rounds cooking off in the armory.

The base is devistated. The docked ships have capsized, the infrastruction is totaled, the helicopters on the ground are so riddled with bullets that only one is really salvageable. At this point, the remaining guards and soldiers (those that lived through the blast) are more concerned with tending to the wounded than actually figuring out where the remains of the attackers have run off to.

Admiral Steven Portlage, the commander of what remained of the Manarthian navy, sat uncomfortably in the cramped quarters of the Silencer class submarine. Fortunately for Manarth, during the Northern Brittania attack, almost every sub was out performing routine patrols, and avoided the fate of the fleets stationed there.

His hastily assembled submarine wolfpack was about to do the unthinkably stupid, but staffed with only volenteers, were more than willing to die for thier goal to succeed.

Captain Mark McMillian Rutters (named after the Marine leader), looked through the periscope and consulted the sonar and surface radar opperatives. Then he nodded.

CPT Rutters: Admiral, we've made it all the way undetected. I can't guarentee we'll have a free ride in, but I've got you this far. Good luck, and Prophet speed you past the void.

The Admiral ran to one of the waiting helicopters, as the Captain relayed the order to surface to the rest of the wolfpack. Soon, the rotars turning, the helicopters took off through the open canopy, and speed off towards the land in front of them.

Looking out, the Admiral could see fourty one other helos in the air, moving in formation behind his own. Streaking low to the water, they watched as the subs resubmurged and slunk back to Manarth. As they approached the mainland, no fire shot out to greet them, the black sky blanketed them from the ground. Touching down in a cratered field, the helicopters set down, and everyone disembarked, including the pilots. Grabbing everything they could from the helos, they moved foward toward the thin sliver of water they could see in the distance...

The Welland Canal lay before them, and somewhere a pocket of HO soldiers needed to break out. It was up to them, a band of 884 soldiers to break an entire invasion force, and save the day...

Admiral Portlage was sweating, but was still in fair enough shape. This was the most moronic plan he'd ever had, but he was going to make it work, or die trying.

The special operations submarine RNS Oilslick glided almost silently into the Main Teepee harbour. In a cramped briefing room, agent Elder Whale was briefing the rest of his team. He wore an immaculate tux even on the submarine. His sleek black hair was probably a toupe, and knowing Nimzonian special ops, had at least fifteen different types of weapon concealed in it.

"...and lemonsh around the edgesh. Sho, doesh anyone have any queshtionsh?" he finished, and looked around expectantly.

"I have a question." said Agent 'Glacier Mint', who was short and fat, and looked like some kind of harmless middle aged shopkeeper in his grubby overalls, "What do we know about... Hatchet Face?"

"Well, she... I'm asshuming she'sh a woman, although the picturesh I've sheen were ambiguoush. She'sh the head of the Indian Cashino Operator intelligenshe network. I'm afraid our dosshier on her ish rather shparshe. It reccomendsh not judging her on her ferocioush appearance, as she ish more cunning than she at firsht appearsh." He showed them a blurry photograph.

"Well, that's really helpful." said Agent 'Ice Queen', who actually did look like some kind of mythical arctic witch queen, with here pale complexion and high, angular cheekbones. Her silver-blonde hair was tied back in a serious bun, that was so tight, it looked like it might collapse in on itself and form a singularity at any moment. "How did she manage to get a job in intelligence with a face like that? She'd hardly go unnoticed."

"Her other talentsh musht clearly compenshate." said Elder Whale. "Now, are there any more queshtionsh? Shub Zero?"

The agents turned and looked at the final member of the team, who was sitting slightly apart from the group, not out of choice, but because the others subconsciously sat as far from him as they could get. Nothing in the fourteen-year-old's expression seemed to suggest that this bothered him. In fact, it was probably this lack of expression that had earned him the codename Sub Zero in the first place. Sometimes he smiled at a witticism or suchlike, but the others suspected that this was a coached reaction. They also believed that his hair was dyed black, and his eyes weren't brown at all, but the reasons for that were classified.

"No questions." he said, flatly. The others breathed a sigh of relief. Nobody really wanted to have to explain anything to him.

"Right." said Elder Whale, and loosened his collar tightly. They sat there in silence for a few moments. Sub Zero seemed to exude silence. Elder Whale cleared his throat. "I exshpect we should have arrived by now. I'm going to er... shpeak to the captain."

Shortly afterwards, the captain of the sub surreptitiously informed the harbour control of their successful docking.

Hachet Face stood on pier three in Main Teepee harbor exuding ugliness. She watched as the RNS Oilslick slowly approached the docking area. As always the seamanship of the regular Nimzonian Navy was impeccable though the reserve Navy wasn't nearly as professional.

She was pretty sure Elder Whale was the Nimzonian spy who almost always wore a tuxedo. She had watched some of his exploits in Spain and France. She felt he was quite successful in Spain but let his distain for the French override his mission. She wasn't sure but deduced the Nimzonian team was going to contain the fat one and the beauty queen. Probably some others. This mission was important, she was so well known that there was no way she could get into Samotopia, it would have to be the Nimzonians.

With the sketchy information she had on the Samotopians she hoped to give the team at least a good insertion point. She had arranged to have the ICOS Eagle battle group come close to Samotopia just when the Nimzonian team was to get in. This would draw attention to the impressive battle group concentrating the Samotopian navy to the Northeast and the Nimzonians could come in from the south.

As the RNS Oilslick drew near an Indian sailor approached Hatchet Face, he was very drunk and amorous until he saw her face. He stopped dead in his tracks and sobered up quickly saying "No man could be that drunk." She sneered and told him to go back to his ship or she would tell all his shipmates that she slept with him. He dashed off quickly.

Hatchet Face announced herself to the topside watch as the RNS Oilslick docked. She told him to tell the captain she wanted to meet the team onboard. There is no reason to let any spies in Indian Casino Operator take photos of the Nimzonian team. She thought.

The Nimzonian sailor scurried off to relay the message immediately, glad to be out of Hatchet Face's presence. Later, he would swear that some kind of sea monster had risen from the depths, and accosted him.

Hatchet face was then led down to the covert ops briefing room. This led to an even more uncomfortable situation in the cramped space, as the team decided whether they would rather sit next to Hatchet Face or Sub Zero. Eventually, they reluctantly sat nearer Sub Zero, because at least he looked human.

"Ah, Hatchet Fashe" Elder Whale greeted the Indian intelligence chief, "Sho pleashed to finally make your acquaintanshe. My name ish Whale - Elder Whale, and theshe are my agentsh."

He waved a hand around, to indicate the others in the room. Only Sub Zero seemed prepared to look Hatchet Face in the eye. The others seemed to find the ceiling or the floor suddenly very appealing.

"Glashier Mint, Ishe Queen, and Shub Zero." he introduced them. Ice Queen and Glacier Mint (who had grown a new moustache since the last photo of him had reached indian intelligence) nodded vaguely. Sub Zero's expression barely changed; perhaps a slight, barely perceptible raising of the edge of the mouth.

Elder Whale clapped his hands together in anticipation, "Sho, letsh hear what daring deedsh the Indian Cashino Operator intelligenshe network hash in shtore for ush!"

Hatchet Face outlined the plan to have ICOS Eagle battle group provide diversion for the insertion of the Nimzonian spy team. She further explained that they had very little information about Samotopia. Very few of their people gambled at the casinos, so they couldn't be set up as spies when they lost their life savings at the blackjack tables.

She kept looking at Sub Zero wondering if he was part of this GELF experiment. That was her second priority - to find out more on this GELF issue.

She explained how Martin Shone was going to be given a small ship to harass the Samotopian fishing fleet using the excuse the Samotopians are not using dolphin free nets to catch tuna. The fact there are no tuna nor porpoises in Lake Ontario won't stop Shone from attacting the news media. She further hinted that any excuse for the Indians to shoot him out of the water would be used -- Then she got an inspirational flash -- How would the RNS Oilslick like to torpedo him as payback for all the trouble he caused up North? This could easily be blamed on the Samotopians and get them in hot water in the international community.

The 7 man guard team lead Martin Shone to a leaky well worn tiny tramp steamer. Right on cue appeared a crew of 15 idealistic young men and women ready to follow Martin Shone, leader of Blue Peace. Blue Peace is an attention seeking environmental group with the stated goal of cleaning up the world's oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams. The unwritten goal is to make Martin Shone famous and rich.

Shone gathered the crew, started the steamer and in less than two hours chugged out of the harbor. The craft was barely seaworthy but loaded onboard was state of the art communications gear set up to allow live satellite feeds to the major news networks. This was one of Shone's tactics - to show some country's environmental mishaps and make news out of it. Keeping his face on the news and the donations rolling in.

Elder whale nodded at points throughout Hatchet Face's explanation. He seemed particularly pleased with the idea of torpedoing Martin Shone.

"Yesh, I think the captain will be highly appreciative of that idea." he chuckled, "If he shurvishes yet again, we had a few gamesh of texshash hold'em on the way here, to shee who'd get the privelige of shooting the revolting little man if he ever made a nushianshe of himshelf again."

"Do you even know if they like coffee in Samotopia?" asked Glacier Mint, "I can't work without coffee!"

"Do you even know if they like coffee in Samotopia?" asked Glacier Mint, "I can't work without coffee!"

Hatchet Face looked at the smooth skin of Ice Queen and thought She never ventured out in the Nimzonian winter, was she tough enough for the job? She answered, "We don't know much about the type of government, other than somebody named Sam is the Head-of-State. We know military service is compulsory, we don't know the size, readiness, state of their equipment, whether they even have an Airforce, Navy, or Marine Expeditionary Force. We need to know if they have a nuclear deterrent, if so do they have a delivery method, if you can get a feel for the mood of the general populace it will be most helpful.

"As for coffee, I don't know. I'm positive that Nebulabucks has started making inroads into Samotopia. They are spreading like a cancer upon LOTI, masking their over priced bitter tasting product with incredible marketing. Thank God we still get Fetid Fens Blue Mountain Coffee here." Hatchet Face summed up.

She ws beginning to like Sub Zero, maybe he was a robot but at least he didn't throw-up while looking at her, and he didn't turn away.

"One final detail, here are some documents for each of you, I have MadderMikian passports, and Holy Toledo passports all you have to do is insert your photos and seal them up. "Jusht code shwitch between English, Arabic, and Latin, and I'm sure you'll be fine." said Elder Whale.

Elder Whale handed out the documents from Hatchet Face, "Shomeone fetch a camera. We'll do the picturesh shtraight away. Glashier Mint, you shall hang around the coffee houshesh and barsh and such, and shee what the people think of the government and itsh polishiesh, and shee if you can work out their idioshyncrashiesh," The others frowned, not quite sure what that word was supposed to be. That'll be the more dangeroush part, but hopefully nobody will shushpect a kid hanging around a military bashe."

Sub Zero tilted his head slightly, in assent. Glacier Mint cheered up considerably, thinking himself to have rather the easier end of the deal, or at least, the more enjoyable. Ice Queen maintained her expression of general disgust at her immediate surroundings, so whether or not she approved of her role was unclear.

"Onshe theshe photosh are done, we'll be ready to commenshe, I think." Elder Whale addressed Hatchet Face again, "Ish there a shpeshific time conshtraint for the operation?"

2am, on a quiet stretch of Indian Casino Operator Coastline

A group of shady gentlemen were waiting impatiently by the edge of the woods, for a signal from the sea. They were all clad in heavy coats and hats, and tended to assume hunched postures to further conceal their features, even though it was dark, and there was nobody for miles around.

Someone expecting a gang of smugglers or other seedy criminal types, would have been surprised to learn that the group consisted of a number of high ranking Nimzonian military officers. The seniormost was Field Marshall Helstag, supreme commander of all Nimzonian ground forces, and among his cohorts were General Tobiassen, commander of 1st Army, General Hanstveit, commander of 4th (reserve) army, and a handful of Major and Lieutenant Generals. They had all managed to time their leave at the same time, and had all gone on extended vacation, taking routes via various different countries to all congregate in Lake Ontario at the same time.

"I hope you know what you're doing." Muttered Tobiassen to Helstag. Helstag blew a cloud of smoke from his cigar in Tobiassen's direction.

"Of course I know what I'm doing." said Helstag, "E-C-N will jump at this opportunity, you can count on it."

Tobiassen nodded, and stared back out to sea. After a while, he thought he saw a flashing light. "Hey!" he said, "Is that the sub?"

Helstag looked through his binoculars, "That's them alright. Signal the response."

One of the lieutenant-Generals lifted a lamp, and flashed a reply. The group of officers made their way down to the beach, where, after a few minutes, they were met by a Psyevdorusskiyan manning a raft.

"Greetings, Comrades." said the Psyevdorusskiyan, "Boss Grishenko will be glad to see you have all made it safely. Please, step aboard."

The Generals clambered into the raft, and were ferried out to the waiting submarine Penguinsk, an old November-class sub that, although it belonged to the Psyevdorusskiyan navy, was effectively controlled by the mafia. They were shown down into a meeting room, where a fat man in a fine suit was awaiting them. The room had been decorated as best as a submarine could be, with various trappings of wealth, but occasional rust and rivets showed here and there.

"Comrade Helstag!" Grishenko, the fat man beamed, "So glad your little cabal could make it. I've had my own problems evading the watchful minions of him upstairs, but we are all here safe and sound! Wonderful!"

"Evgeny!" Helstag smiled thinly, and shook the Psyevdorusskiyan's hand, "Let us hope that the E-C-N nazis are as welcoming."

"Hah!" chuckled Grishenko, "With our proposal, how could they not be? Ivan! Fetch some wine and food for our guests. This ship may be cramped and smelly, but that does not meen we must endure discomfort!"

The submarine dived, and headed for the rocky little spit of land near West Palm Beach, where the E-C-N corporation supposedly had its headquarters.

Northeastern Coast of Samotopia

The ICOS Eagle battle fleet was nearing the edge of Samotopia's International 12 mile limit. She turned into the wind and began launching F14s.

In the disputed fishing grounds

Martin Shone arrived in his battered, barely seaworthy rust bucket. He gathered his idealistic crew and addressed them "Tomorrow at daybreak we will once again begin our war to save the environment. The Samotopians have been fishing for black-necked tuna without using dolphin free nets. You all know that dolphins are more intelligent than humans, that they should be recognized as an independant sentient species and given human rights." He was getting the crew energized as they believed the only hope for dolphins was the crew of this little ship.

Shone continued "At sun up we will show the world the despicable practices of the Samotopians. The world must know what is going on here in Lake Ontario. We have to push back these barbaric practices and lead the world into a perfect harmony with the fragile environment."

He made sure the crew knew how to operate the cameras and the satellite uplink feeds to the various news services. The news services like to pretend they don't "Pay for News" but they know Martin Shone's tapes bring in large audiences and he charges dearly for their exclusive use. Martin then turned to one of the more attractive crew members and invited her to his cabin for a lecture on the mating rituals of the lecherous sleeze bag.

The Great Spirit created the hunting grounds of the Adirondak Bark Eater Tribe then tripped over the tallest mountain squashing them down to their current height. He cried out in pain creating the rivers and lakes of the North. When he saw the Chosen People of the Adirondak Bark Eater Tribe were hungry he created fish in these waters. Once Hatchet Face had departed, and the captain had clearance from the harbour control, RNS Oilslick moved away from pier three, and out to sea, heading for the suggested insertion site on the coast of Samotopia. The pictures had gone reasonably well; Glacier Mint was quite jovial when he wanted to be, so it only took one attempt to get a good photo of him. Despite considering smiling to be undignified, Ice Queen managed to produce one after two or three attempts. Elder Whale only took three attempts to get a good photo, because of the way his teeth kept twinkling whenever he smiled. Then, it had taken them most of the rest of the evening to get a good photo of Sub Zero. Elder Whale had tried to explain that a smile wasn't simply a matter of contorting one's face muscles.

At one point, later that evening, the sonar station reported picking up an underwater contact. After failing to detect it again, the captain gave the order to continue to the insertion point as planned. That was as close as any Nimzonian military units came to detecting the Penguinsk, and its high-ranking passengers.

The RNS Oilslick surfaced, under cover of darkness, hopefully undetected thanks to the distraction provided by the ICOS Eagle battle group. The four agents, with all their kit and tools, climbed aboard a zodiac piloted by one of the Oilslick's sailors. It made its way silently to the beach; Elder Whale had managed to suppress the argument between Glacier Mint and Ice Queen about whether she really needed to bring two fur hats.

The zodiac dropped them off on the beach, and without much further ado, made its way back to the ship. Elder Whale addressed his team, "We'll shtick together until we reach the firsht major shitty," Glacier Mint stiffled a giggle. The only one who could keep a straight face when Elder Whale tried to say 'city' was Sub Zero. Elder Whale eyed Glacier Mint, and continued, "Then we'll shplit up and go our sheparate waysh. Henré Autoeaux was on watch at pier 6 waiting for a signal from friends of the Count. He methodically swept the dark lake with his binoculars for a sign from the Nieureijk Nimzonians. His 10X50 Nikons quickly picked up the flashing light from the Penguinsk. He relayed the signal to operations and they told him to answer with the instructions on how to enter the covered submarine explosive handling wharf.

No reason to let those pesky spy satellites spot the incoming vessel. The entrance to the wharf had overhead wires crisscrossing the entire area. The purpose of these wires was to generate a heat signature to appear as a blur in any infra-red spy satellites.

The Penguinsk acknowledged the instructions, and maneouvered its way into the concealed wharf. Commander Andropov, at least, was relieved to find E-C-N so well equipped; he would hate to have to explain to Psyevdorusskiyan naval command if he was caught on satellite doing errands for the mafia and other conspirators. Not that naval command would mind the fact that he was doing errands for the mafia; it would be getting caught doing it that they minded.

The Nimzonian Generals, along with Boss Grishenko and his lieutenant, stepped out onto the quay, still having their conversation. A haze of cigar smoke hung around them.

"So, how do you manage to get a submarine out here for us, without Boss Petrenko noticing?" General Tobiassen was asking.

"Ah, I thought someone would ask sooner or later," Grishenko chuckled, "Commander Andropov was already doing some of Boss Petrenko's dirty work in Lake Eerie. There's a fellow who knows the meaning of discretion; he didn't ask any questions at all, when I and my men turned up to 'oversee' the operation."

"Let us hope for both our sakes, that Petrenko doesn't find out." Field Marshall Helstag admonished, as they were led to the meeting location.

A tall buxom woman approaches the gathered generals and the Psyevdorusskiyans, at a distance she looks very interesting, as she approaches it is clear that she is in her mid 60s and she has two deep scars on her face showing through many layers of make-up.

She greets Boss Grishenko obviously memorizing his photo. "Welcome Boss Grishenko, gentlemen, Dr. Locoaleman is waiting for you, please follow me. She directs them through a an archway carved thru solid granite and into the depths of the island. After what seems to be 1/2 a mile they enter an elevator and are wisked up to the tallest battlement and into a meeting room.

"I am Dr. Aldolpho Locoaleman, welcome, we have been expecting you. This is my number two Count Roue De La Manx. Please sit down, there is ice cold vodka for the Psyevdorusskiyans, large flagoons of ale for the generals, or if you prefer some fine imported wine."

28-09-2004, 19:44
The consensus among the Nimzonian generals is that ale is preferable, although Field Marshall Helstag accepts a glass of wine. Some of the generals even have large beards suited to quaffing. The conspirators sit themselves down around the meeting room, with Field Marshall Helstag and Boss Grishenko taking central positions.

"Greetings, Dr Locoaleman, Count De La Manx, and thank you for your hospitality." Field Marshall Helstag begins, "As much as I could beat around the bush, I will get straight to the point; My comrades and I feel the time has come for a change of regime in Nimzonia. General Jaarinen has become more centrist than ever, and too many undesirable minorities are becoming disproportionately influential."

He pauses slightly, as the other generals nod and murmur in agreement, and continues, "Unfortunately, the president has, over his two and a half decades in power, built up rather a cult of personality. It would be foolish to attempt a coup by direct action; most of the armed forces are steadfastly loyal to the Anchor party, and many military units and the people's militia would rebel - the civil unrest could last for years, and would be very undesirable indeed."

Helstag pauses again, to let that part sink in, before continuing, "In order to successfully seize the reins of power in Nimzonia, we cannot be seen to have a hand in Jaarinen's downfall. This is where I need your help, Dr Locoaleman. If the key figures in the Jaarinen regime can be successfully eliminated by an unknown third party, and my men and I can legitimately take control of the government, we can purge the remainder of the Anchor party loyalists at liesure."

"I would offer my men to perform this task," explains Boss Grishenko, "but with the close ties between General Jaarinen and Boss Petrenko, it would be political suicide for me to be seen in connection to this. Once General Jaarinen is out of the picture, I can eliminate Boss Petrenko, and maintain the friendly relations between the Nimzonian government and the Psyevdorusskiyan mafia." he smiles broadly, "And, of course, some of Boss Petrenko's lucrative little operations will require new leadership."

Field Marshall Helstag steeples his fingers, and turns his attention back to Dr Locoaleman and Count De la Manx, "So, can I rely on your help in this plan, gentlemen? I can assure you, your efforts will most certainly be well rewarded."

The four Nimzonian agents were gathered in Elder Whale's hotel room, discussing their plans. A map of Samotopia was spread out on the bed, along with a couple of tourist brochures.

"Sho," Elder Whale was saying, "Tomorrow, Ishe Queen and myshelf shall get a train to the capital, Wutai, and shtart from there. Elder Whale turned to Sub Zero, "You will have to find out where the nearesht military bashe ish, and go and inveshtigate there."

Sub Zero nodded. Glacier Mint was looking through one of the tourist brochures, "Wutai Beach city... says here it's Samotopia's biggest casino city! Woohoo! I didn't get to visit the casinos in Main Teepee!"

Elder Whale frowned, "Remember, don't shquander your mission fundsh!"

Glacier Mint nodded seriously, "Oh, yes, of course."

Elder Whale stood up, and started to usher them out of his room, "That'sh shettled then. Get a good night'sh shleep, and we'll get our plansh underway tomorrow."

The other agents all shuffled back to their rooms. While the other three agents had all insisted on plush, well furnished rooms, Sub Zero had been quite content to take a cheaper room, since the concept of luxury was mostly lost on him. He locked his door, and began going methodically through his equipment and supplies, making sure everything was in order.

One bag was entirely full of drugs. Not suspicious bags of white powder, or anything of that sort, but miscellaneous tablets and capsules, of a more medicinal look. Sub Zero took a selection of various pills and swallowed them with water. After that, with pretty much everything else in order, he stripped down his 9mm sidearm, cleaned it, and put it back together.

About then, the light came on his satellite phone, and it started to vibrate. He picked it up; the LCD display informed him the caller was Uncle Walrus.

"Hello, Uncle Walrus." he answered the phone.

"Ah, Sub Zero, lad." came the voice of the intelligence chief, "Just calling to make sure you'd got into Samotopia alright."

"Yes." said Sub Zero, flatly, "Elder Whale is the mission leader." he added, hinting that Uncle Walrus should be phoning him instead.

"Yes, yes, I'll bother him in a minute." Uncle Whale said dismissively, "I just wanted to check up on you. Have you been following your prescription?"

Sub Zero glanced briefly towards the bag of drugs, "Yes. It seems to be working effectively."

"Good good." said Uncle Walrus, "Oh, Magnetic North says hello. You remember her? She was the agent who-"

"Yes." said Sub Zero, who still hadn't quite got the hang of conversations.

"Oh... good." said Uncle Walrus, who was quite capable of having a conversation with himself, and wasn't usually perterbed by Sub Zero's lack of verbosity, "Anyway, she was saying to me how pleased she was with the progress of Project Plough. She wanted to introduce me to Colonel Elsson, but of course I wasn't having any of it, and then-"

"Uncle Walrus," said Sub Zero, "I'm currently on active duty."

"Oh yes, of course, you're right." said Uncle Walrus, who didn't usually let the fact that his agents were behind enemy lines get in the way of a good blather, "I'll tell you all about it when you get back."

Sub Zero rolled his eyes. Uncle Walrus continued, "I suppose I'd better let you get back to whatever it was you were doing. Must be about eleven in the evening where you are... I hope you're not planning on staying up much later. Remember to brush your teeth, and-"

"Yes, Uncle Walrus!" said Sub Zero, slightly more firmly.

"Well, and, er, take care, that's all I really wanted to say. I'll be going now..." Uncle Walrus finally hung up.

Sub Zero lay back on the bed, and wondered which was worse; Uncle Walrus' constant fussing and blathering, or Quisling with their stun rods and electrodes.

Wutai Beach City

Glacier Mint was at the blackjack table, drinking scotch on the rocks. He hated it, and had barely sipped it all evening, but it was what all the cool spies were drinking these days. He thought longingly back to the era of dry martinis. Apparently, they were a bit trite these days. There had been that rebel period, where they'd had them stirred, not shaken, but even that had got old fast.

He had been hanging around the roulette tables, but it was all frenchmen and widows, so he'd moved on to Blackjack. He was playing fairly cautiously, to make his money last, and was still breaking even, looking around to try and get a feel of the place.

He saw Red 13 come over, with his pockets full of previous winnings, and made some space for him at the table, "Hey there, you look like a regular here. Care to join the next round?"

"Actually, this is my first time in Samotopia." said Glacier Mint, amiably, as he placed his bet in the box, "I don't get as much time to travel as I'd like."

He glanced down at his scotch on the rocks, and pushed it away. He noticed Red 13 drinking some kind of wine, "I've heard about the fine wines they have in Wutai Beach city, but I didn't know where the best places to sample them are. Perhaps you could show me?"

Glacier Mint didn't fare too well either, having been dealt 16 to start with. He turned away from the table, leaving his drink behind.

"Yeah, let's go... I'm Eric Bung." he replied, offering a handshake as they moved away from the blackjack table, "I work in sales. What about you? What's your job?"

As they got closer he say a man he owed $500,000.:: We must avoid him.:: He told Eric Bung pointing to the man. When they got to the bar Red 13 said:: Well hello Jack how have you been.

Glacier Mint tasted the wine, "Mmm... I haven't tasted one like this before. So, you work in the government? I had an uncle who was a civil servant. He used to moan about the bureaucracy all the time. What's it like over here?"

He glanced down at Red 13's glass, "Oh, how rude of me. Please, let me buy you a refill!"
