We of the United Socialist States of Zvarinograd would like to purchase production rights to a troop transport dedicated aircraft that has the following requirements.

- Must be suitable to paradrop from or be VTOL
- Must have minimal weapon systems (preferably none) and armour, to maximize cargo load and speed.
- Must have decent carrying capacity.

Tell me the number of trips it has to make and the estimated time it takes to transport 20,000 soldiers on it's full range

That is all.

OOC:

Another requirement, it must not be futuristic.

Come on, BUMP, aren't there people, BUMP, willing to reduce, BUMP, the number of people who, BUMP, teleport armies instantly?

Well our CFU-12 might fit your needs, it is certainly paradrop cpaable with moderate lifting capacity.
To air light 20,000 troops would require 200 trips (actually less but we are allowng things for unit splits etc with max loading the number would drop to around 170 trips).
Speed isn't really a factor for large transports, above mach 0.8 cruising speed things just get far too uneconomical.
details can be found here: (scrool down a bit) http://www.meatballs.terminator.org.uk/crookfur/aircraft.html#planes

Perhaps as an unusal solution how about soemthing that offers VTOL operation but with prop transport economy of operation?
i offer the H15A Roc heavy light rotodyne as an option:
http://www.meatballs.terminator.org.uk/crookfur/aircraft.html#rotos
for 20,000 troops it would take about 400 journeys (real value closer to 340) and while slower than a full strategic transport plane it is faster than any helicopter.

Look around for Ell's storefront, the Sky one would fit your needs, it's VTOL and about the size and capacity of a 747.

Only in NS..... lol
