With populist Sec-Gen Wright approaching the end of his third, and final, term in office, national elections were held by cyberdemocratic vote. Citizens of voting age across the country made their voices heard from either their personal computers or electronic polling stations by submitting their vote to the secure National Electorate System.

Rear Admiral Annalise Brown, formerly a captain of the FNS Narwhal and chief of operations for the Tiamat development project, was elected with 67% of the vote. Her experience with command authority, dynamic presence on the online and offline media forums, and strongly laissez-faire economic views are widely believed to have been the key factors in her election. Admiral Brown will resign her commission in the Federation Navy just before her inauguration.

Current Vice President Jason Irriwady earned 23% of the vote. Despite his reputation as Sec-Gen Wright's "right-hand man," political commentators widely described the former academic as simply not charismatic enough to maneuver into the lead position. Reports are circulating, though, that Sec-Gen-elect Brown is in talks with Irriwady and his people about working together to form a coalition government in the coming weeks.

The remaining 10% of the vote was divided amongst candidates representing a wide variety of special interests, ranging from advocating full civil rights for all living creatures (including bacteria) to improving the Federation's environment to an extreme nationalist group pushing for the abolishment of the City-state Concord.
