J8A2 "Nifty"
Crew: 2 (gunner and commander, driver)
Weight: 31 tons
Engine: 1800 horsepower hydrogen turbine
Max Road Speed: 85 mph
Max Ground Speed: 70 mph
Description
The J8A2 Nifty is designed to be light, extremely fast, lethal, and easily transportable. The Nifty can also be air dropped. The Nifty is very small, with a frontal profile if 1.8 meters and a small profile of 6 meters. Combined with it's high speed and great handling the Nifty is a very hard target to hit. Also, because of the Nifty's hydrogen engine it is almost invisible to thermal sensors. The turret is unmanned, increasing crew survivability.
Another great feature of the Nifty is it's reliability. This vehicle keeps going and going and doesn't break down. The armor is very modular, making repair and replacement by the crew a matter of minutes. The entire turret, barrel, treads, and pretty much everything else on the vehicle can be replaced entirely in less the an hour by the crew.
The Nifty has a hitch on the back, making it a good makeshift workhorse. The Nifty also has a plow on the front, making digging firing positions, and clearing minefields easy.
Self Protection
The Nifty is not designed to be heavily armored. It's armor is a network of silicon carbide, steel, titanium, and other highly resistant but light materials. The armor is about 4 inches of such material all around.
The Nifty is also protected by either Kaktus-5 or Kaktus-10 ERA, depending on the threats it will face. Kaktus-5 has shown to make the Nifty immune from HEAT type attacks. Kaktus-10 is heavier ERA, reducing the effectiveness of long rods by 40% or so. Both ERAs also provide vastly superior protection against ATGMs
Also protecting the Nifty is the Arena-5 defense system. The Arena uses an instant scan radar to detect incoming ATGMs and then launches a protective grenade. The grenade intercepts the ATGM and destroys it.
The Shtora-5 defensive aids warns the crew when being lasered and automatically pinpoints the enemy tank then relays it's position over the IVIS system. A smoke generator and flare launcher are installed to defeat IR and lasers.

Weapon Systems
The Nifty has extensive offensive capability provided by a 152mm electrothermal smoothbore cannon. This cannon can fire APFSDS, HEAT, and air bursting HE-FRAG ammo. The cannon is autoloaded and can fire one round every five seconds. The turret's autoloader can be customized to fit anything from 40 rounds or 23 missiles. The turret's swivel time is extremely fast, for a complete 360 turn the turret only takes 2 seconds.
The Nifty can also fire the LAHAT missile system. The LAHAT missile has a range of 8 miles and can be designated by something other then the firing tank. The missile goes over the frontal arc and can defeat any known armor threat in existence.
The Nifty can also fire the Stinger JA1 missile system. This missile gives AA punch to this little vehicle. The missile is basically a modified Stinger with more range and explosive power. After flying a certain time (set by gunner or computer) the missile goes into seeking mode and homes in on IR signatures.
The Nifty can also fire the J345 Little Guys. The Little Guy is a small radio controlled drone that is controlled by the gunner. The little drone has a range of 12 miles and is equipped with thermal imaging and x10 zoom. The Little Guy is very small and quiet. They are fired from the barrel of the main gun and can be reused if found again.
The Nifty also has a 25mm OCSW mounted next to the cannon. This weapon fires 25mm airbursting grenades to a distance of 2,000 meters. Also mounted is a 7.62mm machine gun
Fire Control and Observation
The Nifty is designed to see it's targets before it sees it. It is equipped with the EYES observation system. Mounted around the Nifty are five cameras with a x15 zoom and thermal imaging. This gives a complete 360 degree view at all times.
The Nifty has GPS, and the J-RAY communication system. The J-RAY has the location of every other vehicle using the system and allows instant almost jam proof radio communication with it.
The JoHn fire control system allows the Nifty to lock on and engage any moving targets while on the move. The system takes in all necessary factors and adjusts the aim for the gunner on the fly in less then a second. All the gunner must do is lock onto the target.
Propulsion
The Nifty is powered by an 1800 horsepower hydrogen turbine. This engine gives the Nifty incredible acceleration and speed. The engine is reliable and rarely breaks down.
