Military parade planned to welcome Axackal II to Arda

Melkor Unchained

Today, the Imperium has extended an offer to Dark Lady Helena Cocytus to hold a massive military parade to welcome her and her nation into the glorious borders of Arda. The ceremony, which will culminate with Lord Alkanphel officially declaring Cocytus a formal member of the alliance, will be held sometime within the next 3 months, in theory.

The parade can be held either in your capital or ours. Planning will commence as soon as the offer is accepted [which we certainly hope it will be!]

We'd certainly like to participate in this parade of yours. Any nation entering Arda for reasons other than destroying it is always good news.

Hmph, yet another precious egg in an already overflowing basket. When will they learn? Our dark designs must be insidiously integrated into the light, not gathered in single swirling maelstorm of evil. We must corrupt the dawn into dusk in order to bring on the eternal night.

Excellent! We'll be sending planners and various officials over presently to designate the main promenade.

The parade will be 90 days from today , and we'll be sending several thousand Sountron Guard, and 2 gravship fleets, with Alkanphel leading the column. He will then meet with Dark Lady Helena Cocytus in Cythias' town square [if you have one, otherwise, some important place in public view], and present her with a token of our appreciation: a magnificent jet black pendant with the Imperial Crest, symbolizing your entry into our glorious alliance!

For the first time in ages, military regalia was broken out and donned in Lord Melkor's Imperium. 45,000 Southron Guardsmen donned their dress uniforms and piled into the massive gravship transports to be shipped to Axackal. Lord Alkanphel stood on the prow of the Dor Daedoloth as it cut through the darkening sky, his hands clasped behind his back. Soon he would be in Axackal, meeting with this Dark Lady.

He couldn't help but wonder just how she'd take it.

She was taking it quite well, preparations were well underway, the city of Cythas went under a mass cleanup as the portions of the city that were not regularly cleaned were given the old spit shine, banners flew from the buildings and Axackalian Flags were everywhere to be found, new courses in all Axackalian Classes were introduced to teach the history of Melkor's many kingdoms and the creulty he endured under the imprisonment by the Valar and later by the elves, curse their black hearts into the deepest pits of hell! Everyone in Cythas and across the Dominion was excited at this military parade that would happen in Cythas in the honor of the Dark Lady, the Messiah of Humanity.

OOC: She has ruled the nation for only three years and they are already worshiping her, ya gotta be impressed.

Lord Melkor's gravships finally broke the horizon in Axackal II, three massive Imperial Sky Furnaces taking up the lead. Oddly enough, the blast shields were open, likely to showcase the massive surnaces held therein.

The transports touched down outside the city, and troops filed out, pulse rifles slung over their shoulders, marching in a tight formation. Alkanphel's shuttle tounches down outside of the city, where he seeks out an Axackalian event planner.

"Is everything in order?" He inquires. "We'll be ready to start the parade as soon as we get the men lined up. We'll be marching up the main promenade, and meeting the Dark Lady outside the square, as you know. Is she ready?"

The planer said after she put down a report "Yes she is ready, when will you begin the parade?"

Secret IC: The Axackal Armed Forces were told to keep their ears open for the first sign of trouble. Also security forces in Cythas were doubled, the excuse being that "Due to the usual amount of laxity within the civilian population increased security and military forces in Cythas will be deployed to maintain order."

IC:

The troop columns converged into a single formation as tanks and humvees rolled in, the tanks having been dropped moments earlier by the Sky Furnaces.

A cry went up, and the men started chanting as they marched eerily into the city, in a rigid, almost mechanized fashion. Marchin through the streets, the men keep their gaze fixed on the man in front of them, heeding no distractions, even amidst the fanfare. Winding their way through Cythas, it was a grand sight indeed, the massive column punctuated here and there with MBK's. The gravships lumber slowly overhead, squadrons of Ravens swooping in low for the edification of the civilians. Jets were always a crowd pleaser.

Alkanphel strode in full regalia at the fore of the troop formation, a squad of elites around him. Behind him, a woman carries a pillow with an exquisite looking medallion on it. Soon, they would meet the Dark Lady.

Crowds on the sidewalks cheered the parade as it winded it's way through, New City (built during the rule of the Dark Lady, mainly modern architecture) and into the Old City (built during the rule of the British and the Old Republic, mainly Greek and British Architecture) and finally into Old Cabal (restored section of the old city of Cabal, the architecture highly oriental but with the touches of the old Cabal culture). The mass fanfair cheered the parade on, anyone who gave honor to the Dark Lady in such a glorious manner deserved such appaluse.

On a stage that had been built in Taipeia Square the giant square that stood in front of the gates of the Grand Palis, the home of the Dark Lady, the Grand Palis was a structure that was a curious blend of greek and oriental architecture. The Dark Lady was wearing a black dress made out of the finest silk, she was surrounded by her personal guard (ten in total) all armed to the teeth. She stood quietly, awaiting the end of the parade.

Suddenly, the Dor Daedoloth sped forward, well ahead of the column, and air destroyer escort, Ravens, and gunships followed suit, the well-choreographed formations splitting from the main line with precision.

Slowly, the gravships began to fan out, creating a backdrop of massive steel airships framed against the sky in the background, as Alkanphel approached the stage with his elites in close formation. One was holding the service flag for the Imperial Army on the far right side of the phalanx, and the other held a flag with the Imperial crest.

Alkanphel mounted the stage, and his entourage stepped at ease. He cleared his throat. "It pleases Lord Melkor's Imperium to inform the Dark Lady Helena Cocytus that your Dominion is henceforth.."

With superhuman speed, Alkanphel's hands flew down to his sides, behind his cloak, pulling a fraction of a second later two laser swords. The blackish light cackled with energy as he held the points of them mere inches from her face. The guards immediately level their guns at the Dark Lady's bodyguards as a gasp runs up from the assembled crowd. The Southron Guardsmen in the parade likewise levelled their weapons at any nearby armed men, and tank turrets grimly swung around to face the perpindicular roads. Jets fanned out, but not a shot was fired.

"...annexed by the Imperium. You have two choices: submit or die."

Annilon's jaw dropped beyond the limits of what was previously thought possible for a dark elf as he watched with his farsight. "Remind me to never, ever, invite Lord Melkor over for a drink," he muttered to his advisor Nazgar.
"Very good decision, very, very good decision," said Nzgar, mentally taking notes of the entire scenario.

The IDFI operative, leaning back and relaxing in the IDFI Secondary Office (Turath), peered at the satelite data on his screen. He tapped a button his console, and words spring into place. Lip-reading computers scan the lips of Alkanphel - captured by high-resolution visible light observations from orbit (MISATs have a resolution of roughly half an inch at ground level).

It was slow, however.

Eventually-

"Idiots."

He pecked a key, and the data winged its way to the High Command. And... the operative sat back, and prepared to 'enjoy' the show.

A young man, wearing a military uniform, walked into the office of President Trei. Though the inner door was closed, laughter could be heard from inside.

The corporal asked the secretary "What's up with the Prez?"

She smiled at him. "He's watching that tape from Axackal II again."

The corporal smiles and laughs a little as well. "That was entertaining, wasn't it?"

She nods to him. "Go on in. He's expecting you."

As the hurried message went up and down the chains of Thelas High Command, one word was though of, "assasination". The local Operations Center commander was sent a message by a tight beam, satilite sent, one time use encoded pad, this was the message

Operation Center, advise possibility of assasination of Alkanphel. Chances for failure, if so possibal re-procutions.

The message was sent back by the same means

Possibal chances of succses 50%, if failure risk is minimal, could be made to look like Axackal II operation. Chance of reprocutions 20%. Reprocutions, possibal invasion, chance 10% (I am a protectorate of Menelmacar), possibal santions, chance 99.9%, possibal black ops reprocution 80%. Operations Center advises caution in any operation. Operations Center is Neutral on the matter. Comence opperation? (Yes/No)

The Dark Lady looked almost bored as she said "I choose... Neither." the Dark Lady said as she put her arm through Alkanphel's head, the rainbow distortion that revealed itself as she did it revealed that this wasn't the Dark Lady, but a hologram. "Your not the only one who can plan a trap, kill them all." the hologram then vanished, the guards on the stage took advantage of the situation and opened fire. Military forces that had been hiding in the Axor Mountains that surrounded the city came pouring out, filling the streets with troops and tank and mortar cannon, also cannons that had been hidden on the rooftops of the city were revealed as they fired on the Gravships.

A message like th earlier one was sent to the Op-Center,

You have go with mission

As that was sent, three people walked out of the house that served as the Operations Center, one carried a simi-automatic sniper rifle, two others had AK-101s. They proceded to go into an abandoned office building. As they reached a optimal possition, they set up.

As the pandemonium broke out in the streets, the sniper aimed, readied, and fired, he squeezed off shotsm, one was aimed at Alkanphel's head (it was an exsploding round, in other words, the second it was inside his head, it would exsplode), one was aimed at his torso (the bullet had a hollow chamber and a hypodermic tip, loaded with a time delay acid, about 10 seconds after the acid hits his blood stream it starts to eat him from the inside), the last one (this one had a hollow chamber filled with several deadly strains of virus) was aimed at his hip.

The sniper did not even wait to see what the result was, he pulled the triger, no shot this time. A special high temperature "sparkeler" had been loaded into the barrel, in about 10 seconds, the inner workings of the rifle (and the barrel two, not to mention the wooden stock) would have either melted or burst into flames, the other two soldiers did the same to their weapons. They ran, blending into the crowd was not too dificult (every one is running, so three extra people will not be too noticed). They ran and ran, untill they found one of Thelas' safe houses where they could stay untill they could leave the country.

"Eh," he let out.

"Yeah," the first operative replied; "almost makes you wonder why the Big Cheeses seem to think they're a threat, doesn't it? Incoherant rabble, that's what they are." He shakes his head. "Barbarians."

"Still," Ber commented with a grin, "in a way - a dark way, I'll grant you - it's all rather amusing. Alky goes to betray some bird with pink hair and a reputation for being more evil than her hair might suggest, and she betrays him after he betrays her. Still... pretty dumb move."

Admit it - you totally cheesed this one out. Not true. You only assume no one trusts him. I've seen plenty of folks have dealings with him with no problem whatsoever. It's plenty farfetched. Unlike Iesus, who has played a completely nutball leadership who's often stabbed folks in the back, I've seen Melkor operate more above the board than many so-called 'evil' folks. Look at it as a more lawful evil approach if you will. No, there are no guarantees, but I could post links to back it up if I thought it was even worth the trouble.

Sure he's the lord of evil and all that, but you know what? Of late, I've seen more of the supposed 'good guys' pulling the backstabbing manoevers and dirty double-dealings than I have Tall Dark and Menacing. Figure that one out.

You cheated. Plain and simple. Say what you will, it's another stain on your already seriously tarnished reputation.

And no, I really couldn't care less if you know folks or not. There are plenty of us that follow the forums more than play on them, you know. Doesn't make their opinions any less valid. Sometimes, perhaps, moreso given the endless floods of useless posts some have the nerve to call rp. Or continually spamming the forums with thread after thread in attempts to get attention and blow one's own horn - not that we know anyone around here like that, of course.

And falling from the orbital station LASS Vengence Preparation came 36 Diablo fighters, sweeping down towards the plaza of the Axackalian capital.

As they reached firing range, they opened fire into the crowds of innocent people with their plasma cannons, and plasma meant to melt through heavy armor began to strike unarmored flesh. Then from under the wings flash kinetic missiles, accelerating at 300 gravities towards the foundations of the buildings hiding the Axackalian troops. As they passed over the burning crowd, and the city as a whole, their high speed was enough to shatter any window glass for miles.

The fighters then began to circle, awaiting targeting directions from the Melkorian commanders, their allies, who had never once betrayed them.

"Comrade, I've just heard that this Axackal II nuisance is going to get crushed by Melkor Unchained."

The Emperor's Palace

Emperor Herasi Jon II's advisor burst into the Emperor's study, his glasses were crooked on his face and his voice squeaky.

"Sir, sir! I have urgent news! Our intelligence agency has good reason to believe that Melkor is planning an annexation of Axackal II! Shall we intervene on the part of Melkor?"

The Emperor turned his head slightly in his cozy chair so that he could see his advisor, " I know you dimwit, I'm watching it all on television! -He pointed to the plasma T.V. showing live coverage of what was happening in Axackal- I don't want to make any decisions to soon, but until further notice order the gravship fleets to be put on high alert as well as the rest of the military, if Lord Melkor should need our help, we will be ready. Now go along!"

The advisor rushed out of the room to give the Emperor's orders, which were carried out with accuracy less than 10 minutes later. The Rukemian gravships stood ready to reach Axackal within 3 hours and plans for a ground invasion were already being drawn up, only for precautionary measures though, since the Emperor had yet to make his decision.

The devastating rapidity with which the gravships answered was stunning. All three Imperial Sky Furnaces immediately initiate surface burns, the massive ships immolating the city with masses of plasma flame. Arrayed in a formation so as not to compromise the troops in the center, the Furnaces managed to burn out a good chunk of the city within a few minutes. Buildings crumbled burning to the ground in seconds, and Axackal's "ambush" was held off, if not destroyed outright.

The Southron Guardsmen begin to fan out, spraying everything that moves with pulse rifle fire, as the MBKs begin blowing out the support beams of nearby buildings, sending them crashing to the ground as TCD drones crawl out of their storage bays.

The metallic, vaguely insectoid TCD's crawled quickly around the block, ignoring the fleeing civilians, converging on the Palis from the other side, 20mm cannons blazing at any and all resistance.

Alkanphel lowered his swords as his bodyguards opened fire on their Axackalian counterparts. Two sniper rounds tore into Alkanphel's body, causing the Maia to be mildly annoyed, if not outright pissed off. Running towards the Palis with his entourage, he cut clean through several guards on his way up the steps as he made his way to the entrance. He knew she'd be in there.

The gravships immediately begin harrying the approaching ground troops as the Hithlum prepares for another surface burn. As the Axackalian troops rush underneat, the furnace is purged again, sending more flame spewing over the heads of their reinforcements. Long range missile strikes are initiated on any nearby military installations, and the Dor Daedoloth's massive rail drivers level themselves at the nearest air force base, sending a volley of nine gigantic explosive shells plowing into the airfileds. Ravens keep alert for incoming fightercraft as more troops are dropped in from the two Fleets to compliment the Southron Guard.

Back in the Imperium, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th fleets begin the journey to Axackal, complete with the Second Transport division. This would be a quick campaign if the Dark Lady would not buckle.

OOC: I would like to keep this country, it's the largest one I have got, if that isn't too much for you to manage. Oh, and the Dark Lady is not in the Grand Palis anymore as she is currently in the nearby city of Aidus, about 200 miles away.

IC: In the city of Aidus, the City of Sunsets the Dark Lady looked at the latest communications from Cythas, the last communications and thought, "Just as I thought, the bastard betrayed us, well, time to put the icing on the cake." She then whispered an order to her aid to ready her jeep and to launch a nuclear missle at Cythas, she would rather see the city destroyed than give up an inch of her nation, the lives of the people were hers to do with what she saw fit and she would never give up the nation, she would rather kill it.

At a nuclear missle silo several hundred miles away the orders were recived and one missle was chosen for the unhappy task, the countdown began, in 20 minutes the city of Cythas, a city with a history that spanned seven centuries would be no more. The twenty minute delay was so that the Dark Lady could be well on her way out of Aidus and towards an uncertain future.

You said in that post that she was standing outside the Palace. Something like this came up once before when AMF started this charade about killing elves, and his posts were so ridiculously simple that it allowed him to make stuff up about them later.

This stuff can't happen. If I wanted to do the same thing, I could just say I sent an insertion team to whatever city Cocytus is in, and that they're waiting for her already, since technically I never said I didn't. But FFRP just doesn't [or rather, isn't supposed to work that way.]

OOC: Now you see why I avoided this kind of RP for so long, I just don't have the writting skill for it, much less the mind for military tactics. Maybe we should start over.

[ooc: look, if its RP know-how that you want, the best way to get it is to actually do it instead of avoiding it all the time. That's sort of what I had in mind when I started this: I was thinking at work about how I could run you through how to pull off a decent war RP. Given that I have an IC motivation to do this, it might make for a good story arc. And I perfectly understand wanting to keep your main character alive: just about everyone will bend a few rules of physics here and there to keep their main man [or in this case woman] from dying. Even though you have no way of knowing, I wasn't planning on killing her outright anyway, as that would leave you with no room to RP.]

Secret IC: The Sailing of the Fleets

Three of the most powerful Ruhrian Fleets left their home ports fully stocked and prepared for a full scale war. The Indian Ocean Attack Fleet, headed by Fleet Admiral Richard Rickerridge; the Artic Attack Fleet headed by Fleet Admiral Stephania von Wulfe; and the Atlantic Attack Fleet, headed by Roger Wilham had begun their respective journies that lead to victory or defeat.

Their purpose was pure, at least that is what the government told them. An anonymous bidder had hired the use of the Ruhrian Military for the outright conquest of a nation that "plagues the real world with evil." Well over two hundred ships made up these fleets, each traveling in task forces to meet their optimal strike positions. At two thirds-speed, the surface ships were loud and fast. Some traveling at well over thirty knots to begin their tiresome defence efforts. This was a difficult task. These fleets had to operate mostly from what they had, a few troop transports and the airwings of their Hamburg and Munich Class Carriers. Three supply lines were established, and several divisions of troops began the long journey to their landing zones.

The Fleets had hoped to catch their enemies offguard, leading to a quick victory over the sea campaign. The Arda Sea was going to be familiar, many Ruhrians died here in the attack on Melkor. This time, they would come out supported rather than defeated. This time, they would not have their shoestrings tied. This time, they would win.

Just one more day, and the fleets will have made it there. Axackal II will be defeated, and the Ruhrian Empire will have fullfilled its duties in making the world a safer place.

Oh for chrissakes, do be real. If that bastard Resi hadn't been mouthing off earlier, you'd have not had a clue. Resi, if you read this, so help me - learn to mind your own damned business, such as it is, you friggin idiot. You insist on folks leaving you be to carry on the lamness you call rp with your thrice-damned nation selling - do the rest of us the courtesy of keeping the hell out of things that don't concern you either.

That being said - No. Melkor is of course evil, but for the love, he's not stupid. This has got to be the most blatant use of ooc knowledge for ic gain I've seen in a good long while. I continue to be supremely unimpressed with the player behind this and previous nations, and their ability to friggin accept as well as dish out.

I've got news for you - you play an arrogant bastard nation, you're going to attract the wrong sorts of attention, unless you manage to do it with class and style - something you've proved time and again you're entirely incapable of. Honestly now, your initial response to Melkor's invite was a 'Sure, why not?' Hell, I'd take that as a blatant insult, let alone your public admission that you saw this alliance as no more than a military cover for your ass.

Admit it - you totally cheesed this one out. If you knew it was a trap, you'd have accepted to attend the parade in HIS lands as he mentioned, and sent the hollogram there, NOT invited a whopping great load of his troops and machines into your country. That was a HUGELY stupid move on your part, and not one anyone with any grasp of tactics, planning, or scheming would have made. If she was so smart, she'd never have gone this direction. Melkor can spin this any way he likes now, and folks will probably believe him - ie: "We came for a parade, and damned if they didn't open fire on us. We responded."

This caught you off guard, and you're reacting to it in a totally bastard way.

And I seriously doubt you're going to convince anyone otherwise.

OOC: If you hadn't posted this, I would not of even know you had existed, so in responce, I had a hunch long before Resi posted his "giveaway" that Melkor would try something like this, no one IC trusts him so this wouldn't be too farcetched that Axackal wouldn't have a backup plan just in case this would happen.

I think Dominae got most of the point. However, if you saw it coming, per your claim, why didn't you do a little RP to that effect? Have Miss Cocytus chuckling in her lair? Melkor certainly couldn't have pulled out then, without looking like the OOC knowledge abuser you seem to look like right now.

[ooc: and as a side note, guys, bitching at Mish and saying all this negative stuff is never going to get him/her--or anyone for that matter, to take a step back and honestly critique their abilites [or lack thereof]. Hurling insults at people will only make them more defensive, and decrease the already slim chance that anything will change. Just keep a level head and explain things rationally instead of namecalling, please.]

[ooc: I'm sorry, but that is pure, unadulterated horse shit. Read my Telegram please.

You know, this is really upsetting. I wanted to RP with you because I was sort of hoping [silly me] that the general consensu about you was wrong, and that as usual the general NS public was full of shit when they told me all these stories about how horribly you godmod. I guess I was wrong. To suggest that

a) you saw it coming,
b) you had a hologram set to accept a pendant [which anyone will tell you they cannot do], when you said in the receding post:

On a stage that had been built in Taipeia Square the giant square that stood in front of the gates of the Grand Palis, the home of the Dark Lady, the Grand Palis was a structure that was a curious blend of greek and oriental architecture. The Dark Lady was wearing a black dress made out of the finest silk, she was surrounded by her personal guard (ten in total) all armed to the teeth. She stood quietly, awaiting the end of the parade. .

Now, reading this post, it becomes pretty evident to the reader that Helena Cocytus is, in fact, present. When playing Free Form RP, the only thing you can really go on is what the other person posts. If it's too vague, it allows the other player to just start pulling stuff out of his ass, as you have done. A better approach would have been to have some kind of secret IC post indicating the presence of the hologram. Such as it was, no mention of it was made and it is therefore godmodding to just create it out of nowhere. If it was in fact a hologram, Alkanphel would have seen it from miles away. A body double would have been more acceptable.

c) your leader isnt even in the capital city? give me a break. Again, I point to the above post wherein you said "She stood quietly, awaiting the end of the parade." Not "Her hologram stood silently" not "a corperal manifestation of Helena Cocytus stood silently awaiting the end of the parade," but ratehr "She stood silently awaitng the end of the parade. Yes, I'm going to kill you with semantics.

In short, this attack was much too well choreographed for me to allow you to just pull stuff out of your ass and godmode out of it.

Edit that post please, as its the most ridiuclous, steaming pile of cow dung I've ever seen.]

IC: The girl who was the bodydouble of the Dark Lady looked at this monster and said as she took of her pink wig to reveal blond hair in a hairnet, "I don't have that kind of power or authority." The girl the tore open the front of her dress to reveal a small bomb and before anyone could react she pushed the detonator that had been hidden inside a ring on her hand.

In the Grand Palis
"Wasn't expecting this stab in the back from an ally." Lee Corbin said as he looked at the television screen. His goddess patted his hand and said, "Oh well, lets see what we can do to get Melkor to let me keep my plaything (OOC: that is what she calls Axackal II in private), but first, just in case..." she then picked up the phone and whispered orders to her Generals. Within a few minutes all of the nations nuclear and biotech arms were being readyed for war.

The Streets
Needless to say the streets of Cythas were thrown into chaos as people ran in all directions after the podium exploded, soldiers and police forces that had been stationed in Cythas for the event began to open fire on the Melkor soldiers wherever they could, communcations were sent to all military barracks within five miles of the city orders were sent and the cities forces went into high gear. War was here and Axackal II had no choice but to fight.

Regaining his composure, he reaches slugglishly for his sabers, igniting them as he throws his arm forward, calling the rest of his men to action. "Storm the Palace!" He shouted, and a few hundred Southron Guardsmen descended upon the Palace as squads of Southron and Easterling marines were dropped onto nearby buildings via transports helicopters and gravships, looking for SAMs atop the buildings.

The three Sky Furnaces purged their blast furnaces, destroying a healthy cunk of the city instantly, leaving a small portion immediately surrounding Melkor's armies still intact as the remainder of the ships loaded up their munitions and fired at nearby barracks and airfields. Raven escort flies over the surrounding countryside, looking for incoming fighters.

MBKs began filing neatly up the roads to secure a perimiter around the Southron Guard, and complimenting marines. TCD drones crawled out of their storage bays, spreading evenly around the Grand Palis, IR sensors intently scanning the interior for signs of life. The doors on the humvees fly open, and more troops pour out into the streets, sending the survivng onlookers screaming into the charred wastes of what used to be downtown Cythias.

Back in the Imperium, a kinetic missile attack was prepared, as the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Gravship Fleets deployed, along with the 2nd Transport Fleetm packed with troops. Targetting power stations in the area, 150 silos cleared their missiles.

It'll blow the shit out of his bodyguards probably though, but the bulk of the troop column is far enough away to remain largely unaffected. Grand Palis
"I am going to have to flee through the underground tunnels." the Dark Lady said as she changed into a pair of pants and a black t-shirt and running shoes and armed herself with several guns and throwing knifes. "Of course it won't be an easy journey but it can be done. You my beloved must stay here to protect me." she then kissed her plaything Lee Corbin on the forehead before leaving her bedchambers and walked down the halls and stairways down to the depths of the Grand Palis that lead to the escape tunnels, already the sounds of battle could be heard from above, battle had been Helena's nursemaid and mother ever since she was thirteen, death had been her playmate and one that she played with to this very day. "I can only hope I can reclaim my playthings soon." she thought as she went down the flights of stairs, going deeper and deeper into the depths of the Palis.

The TCD drones methodically stalked their way around the Palis, searching for alternative means of entry. Some went in through ventilation shafts, some through windows, and a few even stalked in through the main entrance, 20 mm cannon fire blasting anything in the way. Meanwhile, Alkanphel charged through the Palis with a contingent of Southron Guardsmen complimenting his every move. He mad ehis way thoguht the Palis with alarming rapidity, hacking and slashing his way through anything that stood between him and his objective: the Dark Lady herself.

No reports from the perimeter guard had come in yet of anyone leaving the palace, so it must be assumed that she was either still inside, or had found another way out. Sonic data from the gravship's ground-based sensor drones indicated a network of underground tunnels as the most likely means of escape.

In the streets, Morgoth's Elites began to do battle with the Axackalian rank and file, MBK's advancing grimly, Sponson particle autocannons dispatching any nearby enemy human threats. The troop column surged ahead of the lumbering MBKs and met the approaching enemy head on, engaging them in brutal, head on combat. Humvees rolled to the lines, trucking more troops forward to mee ttheir new foe. Gravitic gunships swooped low over the enemy troop columns as they approached, strafing them furiously with chaingun fire, a good number of them dropping napalm for good measure.

Nuclear Missle Silo, 30 Miles outside of Port Aidus
5...4...3...2...1, FIRE!

At the end of the countdown the two soldiers who had turned the keys that had activated the nuclear launch program watched as the Silo's nuclear capabilities were used, the missles had been aimed and locked on Melkor Unchained, as the missles left the silo on their fateful goal the same thing was going on at five other sites acrossed Axackal II. Melkor was going to pay for his betrayal... with interest.

The Underground of the Grand Palis
The sounds of death were growing dim as the Dark Lady put the pedal to the metal of her red Ferrari as it sped through the tunnel system, each mile it went put her further and further away from Cythas, further away from danger, so as long as she survived the Dark Lady would find a means in which to keep her plaything. "At least my puppet Lee will keep them distracted long enough for me to get away." the Dark Lady thought as she looked at her nails, still perfect and didn't require a touch-up.

The Battle of Cythas
The ground forces were taking severe hits but the various forces were dealing their own sort of damage. The tanks and infantry divisions were dealing massive blows to the enemy and several soldiers were using bazzokas to full effect, even a couple of experimental laser weapons were being deployed. The jets and aerial bombers were fighing the Gravships with everything they had, one General was considering ordering the Atomic Bombing of Cythas to ensure the enemy would never have it, the only thing holding him back was the thought that the Dark Lady might not have escaped just yet. "We need to buy her more time, none of our lives are important, only SHE is." he thought as he chose to wait a little longer.

Grand Palis
As the enemy stormed the Palis the security forces and military troops that had been ordered to defend the Palis at all costs. Priceless objects, vases, artwork, and rugs were trampled into oblivion by gunfire and the jackboots of Axackal Palis Protectors. The leader of the assaults on the invaders, Lee Corbin, the Dark Ladys lover was at the head of the fighting screaming the name of his Goddess as he killed and killed until all of his upper arms were soaked in blood. The true power of the fanaticism that the Dark Lady had sown was more than obvious by now.

By now, TCDs were crawling all over the inside of the tunnels. A number of them were tracking Cocytus' movemtns through the tunnel systems via long range IR scanners. After a short while, the Palis is taken byt the Southron Guard as the perimiter around the building is strengthened. Press releases are immediately dispatched to the general public that Helena Cocytus has been found and killed, urging the populous to bow to their new master: Lord Alkanphel, who sits now upon the throne of Axackal.

Sky Marshal Marcus Garrand listened to the report from war veteran Radek Antares, who was a part of the ground operation: "So far we've taken moderate losses. Reporting 77% operational capacity on the ground, armored columns at 85%. No TCDs have been comproised yet to our knowledge: they're scouting out the tunnel systems for traps. Cocytus is heading east [?] through the tunnels in some sort of vehicle. We don't know if anyone's with her or not."

Garrand nodded. "I'll have Glaurung send a gunship down there: you guys need to make sure he's got a path through the Palis to send one."

Antares looked over his shoulder and sized up the area. "I think it should do just fine. The tunnels are pretty wide, and most of the rooms in the Palace are equally large."

Garrand nodded. "He's on his way."

Moments later, a gravitic gunship retrofit for tight-quarters fighting began stalking its way through the corridors of the palace, winding down the long paths which would eventually lead it to the tunnels which Cocytus was using to flee like a coward. Glaurung, the Gravship's AI designed for operating the gunships, rechecked his calculations, and activated Active Sensor subsystems, working in tandem with the TCDs that were steill stalking the tunnels to try and find any traps. The Imperium wasn't about to be fooled by a 16 year old girl. Engines engaged, and the gunship began screaming through the tunnels after its quarry.

Back on the Dor Daedoloth, Garrand conferrs with his officers as the Furnaces lumber slowly over the bulk of the enemy troop column, Furnaces set for another purge. "I want streaming data from our spysats: I want to find out where these tunnels come up and have kinetic missile strikes ordered on them. At the very least, it will turn the exits into rubble and trap the 'Dark Lady' in her own tunnels. After that, it's only a matter of time before Glaurung ensures her return to us."

One of his officers, Roman Lieuchenko nodded. "We're on it. Lord Melkor has already made the orders. We're expecting the stike should take place after this next one, once we get all the data in."

An aide burst into the room, clutching a datapad. Spreading the edges of it apart, missiles appeared in the nanoscreen. "They've launched ICBMs!" Shouted the aide excitedly.

Garrand pushed his brows together and sighed. "Already?" He shook his head as the aide nodded. "Idiots. Very well, if they want to play that game, order all gravships to load our gauss cannons with nuclear artillery. We'll give them a show they won't soon forget. Also... get on the horn with Missile Control on 4th Deck and have them put a nuke on... what's that city?" he asked, turning back to the conference table.

"Aidus, sir" answered one of the officers.

"Yes.. tell him to prep our warheads for a nuclear strike on Aidus. We've already taken Cythas for the most part, pending our next surface burn..."

Some time later, LRM strikes plowed into powerstations in and around Aidus in an attempt to compromise their missile defense systems. Another salvo was immediately launched at outlying military targets: mostly airfields, as the massive 50mT nuclear warhead closed rapidly on Aidus, having been launched from the Dor Daedoloth itself.

Meanwhile, over Cythas, Raven escort harassed the lumbering bombers that were attempting to attack the 1st and 2nd fleets. The quick, agile craft darted around the bomber formations impeccably, particle cannon fire ripping merciliessly through their hulls, most of them destroyed before they could even initiate a bombing run.

The remainder of the gravship fleets, and the bulk of the invasion force was set to cross the border. Soon, the country would be overrun with Imperial Legion.

***
SDI systems around the Imperium was brought to bear on the incoming ICBMs, which were being launched froma relatively close positions [for ICBMs at any rate]. the ones not aimed at major metropolitan areas were ignored entirely, as SDI concentrated all of its power on warheads aimed at Angband, Ali'Staan or Udûn.

A retalitory kinetic strike was initiated to destroy Axackal's capacity to launch such weapons. All known silos in the country were targetted by the oncoming kinetic barrage.

[ooc: OK, before I can make my next post, I need to know a few things frm Axackal:

one: how big are your nukes?
two: where does your tunnel system let out?
three: where is Cocytus going?
four: what kind of traps await my gunships and TCDs in the tunnels, if any?

also, my nuke artillery isn't as powerful as a warhead, if that's the impression you got. each of them has a small nuclear warhead of sorts in it, but it ends up being around a 20 kiloton blast: enough to devastate anything int he immediate vicinity, more or less:

Yield (megatons) 0.02 /Thermal radiation radius (3rd degree burns) : 2.3 kilometres /Air blast radius (widespread destruction) : 2 kilometres /Air blast radius (near-total fatalities) : 752 metres /Ionizing radiation radius (500 rem) : 1.5 kilometres /Fireball duration : 0.8 seconds /Fireball radius (minimum) : 90 metres /Fireball radius (airburst) : 110 metres /Fireball radius (ground-contact airburst) : 150 metres]

As four PA defense satellites orbited the Earth, their path took them near Arda, and they detected the ICBM launches against Melkor. The information was immediate shot to base, and directly to the President himself.

D'ron, know for his hatred of Melkor, was awakened from his bed, in the arms of his wife.

"Sir, we've got a ICBM launch against Lord Melkor by Axackal II, Mister President."

D'ron eyes widened, and he responded, "Shoot them down." He rolled over and kissed Lesley, and fell back asleep immediately.

High in space, the order was communicated back to the satellites, still tracking the weapons. They opened fire, sixty kinetic counter-missiles speeding outward at 1000 gravities, and Point Defense Laser beams flicked on, sending 5 mW of laser power at each of the ICBMs the missiles did not destroy.

Federation Laser Signatures were very unique, and the kinetic kill provided by the counter-missiles was as well. It would be enough to remind everyone that the Federation watched Melkor with great interest, but that realpolitik would play a factor.

Nukes were just wrong. The satellites also detected the weapons used by Melkor's forces, but couldn't do anything about those, as they were atmospheric.

<A small tramp-frieghter floats off the coast of Axackal 2>

"Captain... you're sure she'll make for the coast?"
"The ambush was predictable, frankly, though I don't know why she let the troops in. With the troops there, she loses Cythas flat... she might have a second city to fall back to, but her military isn't near enough to face what Melkor can bring in within a few days. Really, the "Dark Lady"s only option is to flee and plot a return. She might have a boat waiting, she might not... that's why we're here."
"I've seen the videos of some of what she does, Captain... I'm not saying anything but the men are concerned: are we really getting paid enough for this?"
"Don't worry, Bosun, you can tell the men we are getting paid very well indeed... and you have my word the men will see a fair share of the bonus on this one."

This is what he does. He tries brinksmanship until he takes it waaaay too far, then he abandons a country. Did it with Mishakal, and he'll do it with Axackal.

Nuts. :x
OOC: Yeah. I still remember when Menelmacar, Ravenspire, Europa Brittania, and I declared war on Mishakal, he used the excuse of "too much homework" and got away with it for a while. Then, when we finally kicked Mish's ass, he abadoned his country.

This is just his tricks, believe me. I have seen him in his puppet this morning, when I'm using a school computer in the morning.

OOC: Actually, I kicked his ass after he'd abandoned the country. Mainly because I'd said earlier that I would do so if he tried ignoring the whole thing for no reason. *shrug*

Omz and EB (and DNS and Aelosia, I think) did engage him, and kicked his ass, before that, though.

OOC: I'm here because I'm sick with the flu and I have nothing else to do, I have tried to log in under my Axackal name yesterday but when I tried to get on the forums with that name all I got was PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED so I'll try agian and if it doesn't work I'll just give the country over to Melkor.

OOC: Ravenspire: I abandoned my country because you being an asshole were going to rob me of the nation despite the fact that the reasons for the war were all dried up so I chose to give it over to someone else other than you.
OOC: So under your definition, Ravenspire, Menelmacar, Europa Brittania, Melkor, and me are all "assholes"?

Melkor: I'll post a responce but can you edit your post? It's a little godmoddish I mean what happened to all those military troops and guards attacking you? Did they suddenly dissapear?
Melkor kicked your ass and now you are calling him godmode? Didn't you do this to "The Coalition Against Mishakal" earlier?

OOC: Go easy on him Omz, the last thing I want him to do is a repeat of the past and just say "screw it". I think he just wanted time to RP his troop response before Melkor posted that he had already taken the city. This has promise to be a good RP, so let's just give him time to type up a response.

[ooc: true, but I imagine an army of 50k wouldn't have much trouble taking it. I didn't have any numbers to work with really, and Maia tend to cut through battlefields like a knife through butter. Ok...I dont know if he noticed this, but Melkor is a special kind of evil, Evil of an uncompromising sort. He should have known they were going to do something like that. Melkor isn't a god mod, just a good planner!

OOC: Yeah. I mean, we actually reacted as though he'd nuked Paris for no reason, just because he nuked Paris for no reason. And then we ignored the peace treaty he posted to try to end the whole war in three lines, too. We were obviously in the wrong, because everyone knows any country that had been invaded and had its capital nuked would be happy to freely sign a treaty giving their invader the right to build military bases on their territory.

Melkor kicked your ass and now you are calling him godmode? Didn't you do this to "The Coalition Against Mishakal" earlier?

I'm waiting for the post saying he's ignoring Melkor because Melkor had no reason to declare war. 8)

OOC: Dickweed? Ok, I'm gonna act like I never noticed that because I don't want to start a flame war over something that dumb, anyways, you shouldn't have any trouble knowing where to begin, just start off with your troops fighting Melkor's in your capitol city, he'd said he'd give you a chance to reply.

OOC lets cut the chatter here, and moreso cut the name-calling.

This thread may look like it has an inevitable conclusion... but it hasn't reached it yet.
There are many ways it can go... the realm could be subjugated (resistance, rebels and conspiritors), the place could be glassed (a firm end, but unoriginal) or there could be refugees / renegades / government in exile...

In the end... most people just want this thread to finish. Completion. Ending. Even if its very soon.
Please?

[well, I started deleting the ooc posts, but I realized "what the hell am I doing? no one's even paying any attention to the thread anymore!"

So in short, Axackal: if you PROMISE to start making IC posts, I'll delete the rest of the ooc, and any further ooc in the thread [unless its about something important, you know.]. But I'm not going to do it unless its worth my while.

On starting a new thread: this is generally a bad idea because it becomes nearly impossible for the defender [in this case, you] to act as if s/he has no idea about what's going on. It's far too tempting to take precautions that you didn't take the first time around.]

Alright, Ax.. my patience is wearing perilously thin with this situation. It's become quite obvious to me now that since you've been posting with your puppets with astounding regularity throughout this week, that you're simply avoiding this thread because of the ass-kickage that will come from it.

I will have nothing of this. Make an IC post within 24 hours, or I'm assuming zero resistance for the entire operation, and you can consider Axackal "The Axackalian Imperium" henceforth.

As for your leader, she will be imprisoned in Angband indefinately.

OOC Well this looks like it has died.

I'm sorry that you don't find the consequences of your actions as amusing to play out as the actions themselves, Axackal 2. But as for the 'out of the blue' remark... well I could see it coming. I even said "apparently Melkor is going to kill her himself" on another thread before this one even started. Paying attention helps.

I had an idea how it could end... since A2 really isn't interested enough in it, I'll make it to Melkor.

But it would have been far more fun to pull off properly.
