The Department of the Navy, in the formation of two heavy Carrier Battle Groups, is looking for a new carrier design to act as our primary deployment of naval arial warfare. The design should meet at least the following specifications:
Be modern tech level - originality of design and systems is acceptable, even encouraged, but it must be capable with modern/very near future tech
Be capable of carrying a full wing (72) of fighter/strike aircraft, along with 3-6 other planes, and 4-10 helicopters
Accomidate carrier-capable CTOL craft, which requires a catapult or other device
Be very strudy - as our main fleet carrier, it will need to be able to take a beating
Be fast - we're looking at 33+ knots
Be well defended - particularly against missile and aircraft threats
Be REALISTIC - no 5,000 plane carriers or $500 million ships
Other than that, we're pretty much open to any design. We'd like to get this decided quickly, but understanding the long time it can take to work a large project like this out, we'll see about the contest closing time. The FCDA has announced that it may be submitting an entry, and have provided a concept drawing:

Just FYI: The USN ships are much faster than 27 knots. The actual top velocity of the Nimitz and Roosevelt Class Carriers are above 40.

Dark Terror, your designs have been submitted. We believe your designs could very well in tandem with eachother - i.e. 2-3 Ulyanovsks carrying full wings, one or two carrier-cargo planes, and some helos each, with a Yetkaterinburg carrying a full wing of fighters, a half-wing of EW, fleet defense, and cargo planes, and full helo ASW/transport capabilities.
Any other offers? We'll keep this open for a while, but please let me know if you're interested and/or working on a design.

I'll throw in my hat....
My AC Carriers follow the theory that it is better to buy several smaller, faster, and capable carriers over a single large AC carrier with limited range and intervention capabilities. These aircraft carriers use the Trimaran hullform that has made GINY a famous naval warship company. These hullforms allow for greater speeds and survivability in warships. Details and system info below.
General info:
http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=412238#412238
'Standard'-type (Jonathan Netanyahu-Class) Trimaran Aircraft Carrier:
Standard Capacity:
50- Fixed-wing Aircraft
15- Rotary-wing Aircraft (medium size)^
25- UAVs/UCAVs/UARs (stowed until use, not all expected to return from any mission)
Unit cost is a fixed $3.6bn.
---------
'Light'-type (Ehud Barak-Class) Trimaran Aircraft Carrier:
Standard Capacity:
30- Fixed-wing Aircraft
12- Rotary-wing Aircraft (medium size)^
15- UAVs/UCAVs/UARs (stowed until use, not all expected to return from any mission)
Unit cost is a fixed $2.8bn.

--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
Each of these vessels have the following:
Has 3 elevators* (2 for the light model) and a stealthy, low-slung design. These carriers use virtual and telepresence technology to eliminate the large "island" on the deck of the carrier, which is replaced by a squat, radar deflecting station about 2 stories tall as with the other designs, and to allow for better command and control of crew. Raised (with portions retractable) "radar shields" will prevent the activity on the ship's deck from reflecting radar signals towards receiver stations.**
Has 1 ramped launch lane (for VSTOL and high-lift aircraft(STOL) such as X-47 Pegasus UCAVs) and 2 "standard" launch lanes (for other planes and non-combat planes). The catapults use the EMALS (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System), which cuts down on the 'down time' between aircraft.
Armaments:
Mixed-use Offensive/Defensive Systems
1- Ship-based MTHEL II system (WA advanced version, extended range, improved ID and tracking ability (based on Counter-battery radar, to assist in return fire from the fleet), and improved operating system)
6(4 on light)- Sea Sparrow integrated missile pods (48(32)missiles)
6- MDG-351 35mm "Millennium Gun" stations (advanced CIWS, mounted at open spots and in gaps in the )
2- Mk.32 Integrated Triple-mount SVTT (surface vessel torpedo tubes)
Defensive Systems:
Large Area Surface Radar Baffling (LASRB, the "Radar Shield," actually a part of the ship shell, which extends down to the water at an angle that is intended to deflect signals either up into the sky or down into the water.)
Large-spread EW/ECM station (placed at ends to provide fleet/task force-wide EW/ECM coverage. Based on the AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare (EW) system)
PCMS (Passive Counter Measures System. Uses absorbant materials
Degaussing (MCM) systems
MK-53 Nulka Decoy Launching System (DLS)
Machine Noise Reducing Measures (Torpedo Counter Measures)
Prairie/Masker II Noise Masking System
Dragged Torpedo Decoys
Several Wide-Area Navalized "Shortstop" Electronic Protection System (WANSEPS) (a proximity fuse electronic countermeasure system that prematurely detonates artillery shells and other fuses at a safe distance from the target)
Barak Point Defense Missile System (a mini-VLS S2A anti-missile system)
--------------------------------------
Notes:
*- The elevators are not the 'normal' aircraft elevators. To avoid problems with the radar baffling ("radar shields"), the elevators are large rectangular lift structures placed in areas of the ship and they're adjacent so that a large number of aircraft can be rapidly lifted at once and then rapidly deployed.
**-Sea Sparrow and other missile pods are integrated (hidden) in motile panels of the "radar shield," so when a missile is required to fire, the panel is simply dropped out of the way and the missile(s) are fired towards the targets, torpedo tubes are also included in the baffles. Also included in these panels are and Active Phased Array/Multi-Function Radar (APAR/MFR) hidden in panels and countermeasures equipment.
----
The Standard version has a TOTAL crew of approx. 3,500 and the Light has a crew of about 3,100 thanks to the fact that I bother to build my designs from scratch (unlike the USN, using a 40 y.o. platform....) and so I have automated systems. These automated systems include facilities for moving munitions and vital equipment, usually used to allow small management crews move large loads. Also included in automation are several of the engine components.
The top cruise speed is over 38 knots (45 MAX speed) for both ships (they use high-power nuclear reactors for their electric-powered waterjet and screw engines) and the average cruising speed is about 35 knots. The ships are about average length for their class but the ship is wide enough to place the two conventional catapult lanes on either side of the ramped lane. Also, the ship has a visible height of about 1/2-3/4 that of the Nimitz-class, which helps when sneaking up on enemy shores.
There are also 2 'empty' integrated missile stations that can be used to launch box or rail-launched missiles of various sorts.
There are currently no aircraft included, but EW aircraft (Prowler and Growler) as well as F/A-18IEs and F/A-18IF's are sold by me in the fixed-wing category.
Rotary wing aircraft for this vessel of numerous types are also available for sale if you are interested.

Thanks, FiK. Your entry has been submitted, and I'm quite impressed. (Does it really need 3,000+ man air wing?) We're still accepting designs, so get cracking, everyone! :)
Our Eagle-class CTOL Aircraft Carrier, designed in 2002, is a very capable aircraft carrier.
Basic Specs:
Length: 372 meters
Width: 96 meters
Propulsion: 2 Honjak Electrics HKNN-22-3N Nuclear reactors, 4 shafts.
Aircraft: 80 Fixed-wng aircraft, 15 Rotatry-wing Aircraft. 4 Elevators.
Max. Speed: 34 knots
Armament: 6 Honjak Arms AHN-45M 30mm CIWS mounts, 3x 4 Rolling Frame Missile SAM box launchers.
To promote business for others:
Large carriers: We normally recommend Free Rumania's "supercarrier", but Western Asia's carrier is more cost effective, and still very powerful.
For small carriers, we'd recommend Western Asia's --- definately.
All of the carriers mentioned above faced combat at least twice.

WA, looks great! Although it would require splitting up air wings between two carriers, it's still a viable option, and would, I'm supposing, doulbe the sortie rate of the fighters. Entry submitted.
Omz, that's a very ideal size for what I'm looking for, and an overall well suited to our requirements. Some more detailed specs, if availiable, would be nice, but aren't required. Entry submitted.
I'm thinking of Monday or Tuesday as a deadline.

That was a design consideration but we were looking for a design that could equally well support both standard, fixed-wing aircraft as well as rotary-wing and unmanned aircraft. With a reduction of the rotary-wing and unmanned numbers you can employ more complete air wings per vessel. As it is, our designs have drifted more towards stealthiness and self-defensive systems, as most of WA's operations tend to be involvements in low-intensity operations or conflict interventions. Our fleet structure accounts for a wide flexability in deployments so we don't have to send an entire airwing to deal with a small dispute but, at the same time, we could send the equivalent of several normal fleets' worth of aircraft on short notice (and at lower costs).
The semi-automated re-armament systems and computer-guided diagnostics, repair, and launch systems help the mechanics process aircraft more rapidly, maintaining a lower 'down' time. The EM-driven launch system needs basically no time between launches to prepare for the next aircraft, unlike steam-lanch systems.

Description:
After production began for the first two of the Amon Amarth class aircraft carriers Haaregradian military planners drew up plans for a larger aircraft carrier, able to carry larger aircraft and operate for longer periods of time. Naval Command of course went back to Lyulka Shipyards OKB due to their long experience with designing large vessels and the result was the Carpathia class carrier and it's sibling, the Fortress class battleship. The end result was a very powerful carrier that was rather modestly priced, at little over $4.5 billion.

Description:
Pan-Haaregradian Defence Institute and the Pan-Haaregradian Armed Forces: Naval Command issued a call for a large vessel capable of operating as both a battleship for ground bombardment and an aircraft carrier for force projection. It was believed a vessel of this nature would be able to both fight with devastating effectiveness and perhaps even be able to dominate the waters through fear of it's possible useage. The vessel was designed like most Haaregradian naval vessels are, tough as nails and covered with weapons. The armor is thicker then any comparable WWII vessel(USS Iowa for example) and uses newer, much stronger steel alloys. The vessel is very fast for a ship of it's size.
The Marx class dreadnought excels in many roles, however it is truely devestating as a marine support vessel in conjunction with smaller amphibious assualt carriers. It can launch heavier aircraft then can Wasp class amphibious assualt carriers, and can provide the type of firepower needed to devestate enemy positions before the Marines land.
In the recent Haaregradian/Metropolis Industries war the vessels proved particularily devastating against smaller enemy ships that had become pinned in their harbour.
The Marx class dreadnought was designed and produced by Lyulka Shipyards OKB, who previously designed numerous other vessels for the Haaregradian Naval Command, along with several large tankers, cargo ships and cruiseliners.
The total cost of R&D on the vessel is currently classified and the cost per unit for Haaregradian Naval Command is also classified.
Price for foreign sales is $7 250 000 000USD. This price is also pending approval for export.
Time to build is 1 year NS(however long you play a year as).

After an FCDA announcement that they would no longer be submitting a design, the Navy made a final decision regarding their carrier purchases.
For two heavy Carrier Battle Groups, 4 Ulyanovsk class aircraft carriers and 2 Yekaterinburg class supercarriers will be deployed. $24 billion has been wired from the military expansion budget.
In additon, the Navy would like a lighter, quicker deployment option, and for this role it has chosen the Western Asian designs. 3 of both designs are being requested, and the required funds ($19.2 billion) have been wired.
We are satisified with these designs, and hope they will serve us well into the future.
Thank you.

While the active shipyards of Western Asia's GINY company (Greater Israel Naval Yards) are currently occupied in the fulfillment of Kekkosmaa's order of a large number of 'Standard'-type (Jonathan Netanyahu-Class) carriers, three more shipyards will be opened to address the demands. A mixed force of 2 Standard-type and 1 Light-type carriers will be delivered in 10 months and the rest of the order (1 Standard-type and 2 Light-type carriers) will be delivered some 8 months after that (OOC: about 9-10 and 16-18 RL days, respectively).
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Ferrussia for choosing GINY for its warship needs.
