Press Release - 1855 Hrs - Craznovian Ministry of NewsTonight our Reporter Viktor Miklos recieved and exclusive interview with General Hoarthy (commander of the Szent Laszlo Division ABN) of the Peoples Craznovian Army.
VM - Sir, first, I must thank you for your heroic dedication to the People of Craznovia and the incredible care you have for your soldiers.
GH - Thank you Viktor! I understand that you were a member of the Szent Laszlo Division before I was the commander!
VM - Yes sir! I was a member of the Pathfinder team that parachuted in during Operation Cobra Eagle.
GH - I must salute you! That Operation was successful because of the actions of the Pathfinders! Thank you for your heroic service!
GH - I understand you wanted to discuss the training and composition of the Modern Craznovian Army?
VM - Yes sir. I understand that since I left the service, there have been a number of changes to the force structure, training, and equipment.
GH - *chuckle*
GH - thats one way of saying it Viktor. The Craznovian Fireteam of today contains more firepower than the squad of yesteryear. Fireteams are now led by NCO's, and include at least one Squad Automatic Weapon. Some specialist units contain a second Squad Automatic. Leaders are now equiped with shortened Carbines fitted with Grenade Launchers, while riflemen and other specialists are carrying either full sized rifles, or Carbines. We've also added optical sights for rapid target aqquisition to most rifles and squad automatics. At the Platoon level, every platoon in the Szent Laszlo Division is equiped with a Sniper or Desginated Marksman.
VM - That must have increased training costs!
GH - yes Viktor, it certainly has, however we believe that the increase in lethality offsets the increased cost.
VM - I understand that the Division now has Armoured Assets included in its Table of Orginazatoin and Equipment?
GH - Yes Viktor. I understand that one of the primary complaints of troops who participated in Operation Cobra Eagle is how slowly Armour moved in to support them.
VM - *chuckle*
VM - Yup. We were starting to run low on Anti-Tank rockets and ammo when the Tanks finally arrived, however The Pathfinders did account for the highest kill ratio in the entire army during that opperation.
GH - well then, you'll be proud to know that theres an Armored Platoon attached to Every Infantry Company in the Division now! While our new Airborne Tank is not quite as heavily armoured as an Main Battle Tank, it is proof against up to 30mm Cannon fire, and heavily resistant to Chemical Energy rounds such as HEAT and HESH. Bolt-On Armor Packages are being developed to increase resistance to Kinitic Energy Kill rounds. Its presently armed with an 105mm cannon, and multiple machine guns.
VM - how many Milimetres of Armor is the main gun capable of penetrating?
GH - In the interists of National Security, Im sorry but I cant provide that Information.
VM - Thanks ok General, I can understand!
VM - some of my old friends from the Pathfinders have told me that the Pathfinders have been Re-Orgainzed?
GH - Yes Viktor, they have. When you were in, There was the Pathfinder Battallion, right? Well, Its been broken up, and each Infantry Battallion now has a company of Pathfinders. Pathfinders often go train with the Special Operations troops as well, bringing back some of their training to assist training their battallion. We've found that this increases the units effectiveness, especially with regards to recon.
VM - You just mentioned the Special Operations Forces, have they been reorganized also?
GH - Definately. Their training programme is now much harder, and its certainly paying off. They say that if its costs 1 Pehzouzeur to train a man to 90%, 10 Pehzouzeur's to train him to 95%, 100 Pehzouzeur's to train him to 99%, id say these guys have been trained to 99.9%. Im told that only 3 in 100 who enter selection succeed. The rest fail, and cannot reapply for 1 full year. The failures are returned to their units, where they are honoured for even trying! Selection is hard enough to get into!
VM - has the Szent Laszlo Division been engaging in training with other Units of the Peoples Craznovian Army?
GH - Im glad you asked that Viktor! A few years ago, we opened a classified facility in the southern jungles, and an sister facility in the northern mountains, a sort of National Training Centre. Both facilitys have a permanent staff who's primary mission is to defeat in mock battle any and all Craznovian Units who go there to train. From this, we are able to better assist commanders with increased knowledge of how to fight a war, and how to win. Im happy to report that the Szent Laszlo Division was the first unit to defeat the NTC staff this year. The lessons learned there will ensure that our soliders are the best. An Litre of Sweat saves a Kilolitre of Blood!
VM - Incredible . . .
GH - another great inovation is the increased co-operation between the Aerospace Command and Land Warfare Command. Due to upgrades in the communications network and increased training for AC forces, they are able to deliver increased firepower in an Air Support capacity, as well as additional Airlift capacity.
VM - How does the Peoples Navy fit into this?
GH - The Craznovian Marine and Army training command has been consolidated into one system. Marines recieve additional training with regards to ship defence, boarding actions, and beach assault. The Navy is coming up to speed with regards to their Communications. Our Forward Observers can now contact Naval Battleships and Air Assets to call for Artillery Fire or Airstrikes. Army Forces will parachute in behind an beach position, while marines assault the beach. Between the two forces, an enemy will be isolated, cut off, and destroyed. There is a certain rivalry between Army forces and Marine forces, one that I have to confess is being fostered somewhat by commanders seeking to make their unit the best. It is a friendly rivalry, and since im with the Craznovian Army . . . Im sure you can see where my loyalty lays.
VM - Yes General, and the People appreciate your loyalty! I wish we had more time to talk to you, but I understand that you're about to go have a meeting with our glorious Dictator?
GH - yes Viktor, its been a pleasure talking to you today! I look forward to visiting with you again. You should come to my command post soon, and we will go together to visit some of your old comrades in the Pathfinders!
VM - Thanks General! I'll certainly do that!
