Tsk Tsk Tsk Marcell. *shakes head sadly* Didn't you learn your lesson last time? I had your country completely blockaded before that thread was deleted or whatever. Do I have to do so again? Or should I just RP from where we left off? Either way, you're not going to accomplish your goal so you might as well just accept that fact. The sooner you do, the sooner you can move on.

"Deploy them as soon as it enters our airspace and immediatly declare war. We shall not put up with small nations thinking we will overlook them."

IC- Both task forces remained off Marcell's coastline, despite the obvious waste of assets in dealing with this pest. The commander of the overall operation has just received word to initiate a full blockade on the country: nothing gets in, nothing gets out...

Come on Baggera, there's enough to go around. Why don't we all single out a section of the country to wipe out? That way we can share in the interests of international goodwill.
26-09-2003, 01:01
The overlord looks pissed. That spy plane was taking too long to get to South Korea.

"Damnit, launch the fighters and blow the plane up and launch the dropships. We're not waiting."

The Interceptors roar into the sky above the geneticly engineered battle armored troops loading into the dropships.

An excellent idea!

We're resurrected so we *do* actually have all this stuff that we're going to send.

1 Nimitz carrier
1 Iowa BB
2 Wasp assault ships w/LCACs
2 Virginia SSNs
5 Arleigh Burke DDGs
3 Ticongeroga CGNs
1 Sacramento AOE

Fleet will rendezvous with UV's ships.

Well Baggera, I think you're being a bit selfish, but since you were here first you can have it. Isolationist People, my commanders have orders to await your ships arrival and to give you a section of the naval blockade. Once your ships are in position we'll have a transport helo ready to bring some of your liason officers aboard our command/flag ship to coordinate efforts. Right now I think it'll be more fun if, instead of actively bombing the poor guy, we just sit off his coast and put a complete blockade on him. He'll run out of food/ammo/supplies in general soon enough, and then we can do with him as we please. What do you think?

Under orders from the Admiralty, the DKS Agamemnon and her escorts, including the newest Shearwater-class Battleship, the DKS Neptune, and four of the eight brand new Tripoli-class Destroyers set sail for international waters just beyond the United States of Marcell, a clear warning to that nation to back down.

I guess I should go ahead and re-post all the ships I have in the area. And yes, it is quite a bit of overkill, but my sailors/airmen were bored. I have two Task Forces, and each Task Force includes two dual-carrier battle groups, so multiply the following numbers by 4.

2 Hover Carriers
4 Minesweepers
1 Command Ship
100 Hovercraft Troop Transports
2 Hospital Ships
12 Los Angeles Class Attack Subs
70 Hover Attack Boats
5 Hovercraft Transport Ships
2 Amphibious Assault Ships
15 Arleigh Burke AEGIS Class Destroyers
6 Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigates
8 Replenishment Vessels
4 Iowa Class Battleships

Aerial Assets:
40 X-29's
60 F-22 Sea Raptors
10 AC-150 Tankers
10 E2-C Hawkeyes
20 Sea Kings VIP/ASW Helos
40 F-14 Tomcats

Alright Baggera, but could you give us a bit of warning first so we can be sure our ships don't fire on you by accident? Friendly fire is such a bother... Although I still think it would be more fun to just sit off his coast and shoot down anything that moves.

Not to mention the aerial cover you can have. Just feel free to ask for it, if you need it.

Marcell, I'm going to assume these "Elite guerrila troops" were somehow in our country before the blockade was formed. However if you start attacking civilians then you cross a line that cannot be uncrossed, and with over 100 warships sitting off your coast (not to mention the countless fighters/bombers), you might not want to cross that line.
26-09-2003, 01:16

OOC---sorry, i just picked myself up off the floor. My side still hurts from laughing at Marcell's last post.

IC---Things were quieting down within the coalition's blockade when the AEGIS destroyer's SPY radars went off again.
"Is that ANOTHER spy plane he's sending out? Wait, no that's a whole flight of them! Hasn't he lost enough yet?" the commander demanded. "Fine, take these out too. What a waste of a missiles, but we have to clear the way for that Baggeran invasion force."

With that, an airborne E2-C Hawkeye vectored in a flight of X-29 fighter jets towards the inbound spy planes. The spy planes hardly stood a chance with the X-29's highly advanced maneuverability; not to mention the vastly lopsided ratio of fighters to spy planes. The X-29's loosed a total of 16 air-to-air missiles at the four spy planes and bore in after their missiles....ready to finish anything they missed.

OOC: Hell yeah!! :twisted:

IC: The First Preator looked at the proposal on his desk. The Dipolmatic Council had done an excellent job this time. The Isolationist Empire, with the help of a few other nations, was about to get a little bigger. The nation of Marcell was the target, a pitifully small nation compared to the might of the Empire. Yet they had decided, in their folly, to threaten some other nations, of which the Empire was on friendly terms with.

"The fools. They have opened the gates of hell upon them." That brought a smirk to the Preator's face.

Turning to his desk, he picked up the phone and called the Chairman of Defense. "Dominus, we have a nation that has become a 'problem', and it needs to be taken care of. I'll send you what we know. Make the arrangements to take care of this 'problem.'"

The dropships and escorts fly over part of fleet blockading Marcell. The roar is thunderous as the Impulse and Ion engines push the ships through the atmosphere at Mach 3, creating a ripple of sonic booms behind them.

This is the sound that every Baggeran soldier knows. To Baggeran troops around the globe it is the sound of approaching battle and victory.

To your fleets, it's just a helluva lot of noise.

The dropships continue towards the capital, not changing course or speed. the fighters move ahead to clear the way of anything that rises to stop them.

Considering the number of ships arriving on scene, I doubt this will be neccesary, but should any of the invading countries require fire support, the Shearwater-class Battleship has three semi-automatic eighteen inch battleship rifles and two hundred and fifty Tomahawk missiles in VLS tubes. Also, the Tripoli-class Destroyers have 125 Tomahawk VLS tubes a piece. These are at the disposal of the Coalition.

High above the contingent of Kotterdam vessels circles a lone E-2C Hawkeye and a quartet of F-72 Broadsword fighters flying CAP. Their orders are simple: Keep the bottle held tightly closed while the Coalition forces go in and erase Marcell from the map. Seeing as the air crews hadn't heard of Marcell until a short time ago, there was a decided indifference to their attitude... At least until the dropships started coming in.

"Eagle Lead, this is Orpheus..." radioed the Hawkeye. "We have inbound tracks moving well in excess of Mach two. Can you confirm?"

Meanwhile, a CAP of 3 F-14 Super Tomcats and 2 F-18 Super Hornets are launched. On the deck and hangers, sailors are prepping the first flight for bombing missions on the southern section of the nation.

After doing his normal checklist, he waved to his wingman, Bobby "Iceman" Snow, giving the thumbsup "go". Positioning onto the catapult, Hammer lit the fires on his burners, lifted the brake, and shot off the deck at 140 mph.

A Hellfire streaked off the wing pylon and streaked towards the APC, blowing it apart as it impacted.

The LCACs drive right up onto the beaches and drop the ramps, and Marines come spilling out onto the sand. Humvees fitted with TOWs and MGs roll off the hovercraft and AAV7's swim ashore, turrets sweeping the beach for targets.

Only a few Marcellian units dared to say behind, and they were quickly wiped out by the swarm of Marines and their vehicles.

Retreating Marcellians, falling back from the beaches along the roads, were pounced on by the gunships. Some small towns along the coast were garrisoned, but as soon as the Freedom started dropping its Volkswagen-sized shells on their dug-in positions, the defenders quickly changed their minds.

"Swanson to Tragedy Leader, first wave ashore with minimal resistance. Second wave inbound to sieze the town of (XYZ) and secure the port. Macrellian forces are falling back inland and our Cobras are all over them. Over."

CS NewsWatch-

An aircraft, later identified as a spyplane, was shot down over the NATAC training grounds earlier today. The incident happened during an excersise in closed airspace. Western ATC gave repeated warnings to the craft which went unanswered, once the craft crossed into the airspace over the training grounds, western ATC alerted NATAC Control that it had an unknown entering their area and gave them the altitude and heading, efectively handing over control and responsiblity of the craft's disposition to the military. A UAV, which was part of the excersize was redirected to take a look at the unknown, know designated as 'bogey-U1'. After being observed by the UAV for several minutes ground controllers decleared the craft to be unknown to the region and potentally hostile as it was knowingly in closed airspace so it was declared a valid target for destruction, two minutes laterit was brought down by a 'Raptor' missile.

Re-embarking their infantry, the IFV-2s roll forth first, ahead of the tanks as their variant bretheren joined them. Even the anti-air tracks would prove vicious in any battle against the Marcellian Army. With the F-72 Broadswords from the DKS Agamemnon streaking through the sky, hunting for anything not belonging to the Coalition, the likelyhood of an airborne threat was low. Even so, there would be a use for them: That 20mm Vulcan Cannon would be as lethal against ground targets as airborne ones.

OOC: oh oh oh something to kill!

IC: Recon team - "Longbow, this is Foxtrot 3, I've got eyes on enemy...well....artillery, requesting fire mission. Grid coordinates Echo Sierra Seven-Niner. Equipment and personnel. Fire one round HE, stand by for correction."

Freedom Fire Control Center: "Roger Foxtrot 3, confirm coordinates Echo Sierra Seven-Niner, one round HE with correction. Mission on the way."

The battleship fired one Volkswagen-sized 16 inch HE shell, which took a little over a minute to reach its target. It landed square in the middle of the formation of trebuchets, throwing up a fountain of dirt, shrapnel, equipment, and mangled bodies.

"Longbow, Foxtrot 3, that was perfect! Requesting all guns for three salvos!"

"Roger Foxtrot 3, all guns ready, same coordinates."

"Fire for effect!"

The nine 16-inch guns of the Freedom opened up and thundered for several minutes, firing a total of 27 rounds at the trebuchet formation. When the pounding of exploding artillery shells ceased, the recon team slipped away, headed back towards the beachhead.

"Seven splashes, 2 are losing altitude, 1 still on course."

"Damn, get the CAP on it then."

~~~~
"Roger that," the leader of the Super Hornet CAP radioed back. "Going hot." He flipped up the red cover on the Master Arm switch and flicked the silver toggle with his index finger. A small green "120" popped up in the bottom corner of his HUD.
He looked left - 2 Super Hornets hung in the air, both pilots looking at him through the canopies. He looked right - the other Hornet pilot gave him the thumbs-up.
"Command, Valkyrie flight is on target and engaging." He lit off his own search radar and watched the JTIDS display light up as each of the icons representing Hornets drew a yellow line, representing a radar lock, to each of the 3 remaining "hostile" icons.
"Four, you take the guy who's holding altitude."
"Roger," came the reply, and Valkyrie Four locked up the aircraft that hadn't been hit. He and his leader were both targeting it.
"Fox One," Valkyrie Leader called as his thumb jammed down on the red weapons relase button. The AIM-120 AMRAAM dropped away from its pylon on the starboard wing and fell about 20 feet before its rocket motor ignited and sent it streaking towards the lead hostile at Mach 5.
Valkyries 2, 3, and 4 repeated the process, each calling their missile launch. They waited as the AMRAAMS tracked straight and true.
"Stand by for Sidewinders," Valkyrie leader radioed. These bastards were not getting through, not on his watch.
"Valkyrie Leader, this is Eagle Leader off the Agamemnon." crackled the call over the radio. Boring in on the kamikaze bombers, a sextet of F-72 Broadsword fighters tore through the sound barrier as six powerful air-search radars lashed the target with their energies.
"Thought you might like a hand, Valkyrie Lead." Eagle Lead's eyes narrowed as the shrill tone of weapons lock. "If you miss, we've got 'em."
---
Meanwhile, steaming in at full speed from Kotterdam, a pair of Avenger-class minesweepers fresh out of the shipyards made their first contribution to the nation's navy by eliminating the free-floating mines before they even got close. As the falling bombers arc towards the ships, every CIWS in the DKN battlegroup opened up, roaring their defiance out to the bombers at several hundred rounds per minute. Ten ship-launched SAMs, a combintion of Evolved Sea-Sparrows and SM-2-MR Standard Missiles from different ships streak up to meet them. Nothing was getting through to the battlegroup. Not two wounded bombers and one heavily besieged one.
---
On shore, the messages were coming in from home via satelite while the men stopped for rest and a bite to eat. "Gentlemen..." announced the ground force commander. "We just got word from home. Terrorists, probably funded by Marcell, have plotted to take hostages in our hospitals. They would use our sick and our injured as a weapon against us. Fortunately KISS caught wind of their plot just as the orders were given. SWORD teams have crushed their attempt. There are no hostages at home. All the terrorists are either dead or in custody."
"Eagle Lead, Valkyrie Lead. Thanks for the offer, we've got 'em locked and if the Slammers miss we're gonna jam Sidewinders down their throats."
Sergeant Vega crept slowly over the hill, crawling on his belly so as not to skyline himself. In the not-so-far distance beyond him stood an airfield... Probably the only intact, enemy held one in the country. Falling back silently, he transfered this information to his commanding officer using hand signals. They hadn't found the Marcellian leadership, but the SWORD team had, in fact, stumbled upon an air field. Quickly, they transfered the coordinates to the Neptune via zip-squeal radio to avoid detection
Out to sea, the Shearwater-Class battleship went to work. Her cannons came about, the big battleship rifles thundering as they punched out over a hundred and fifty rounds per minute, laying down a devastating carpet of fire. That airfield would never be used again.
While the other allies in the fleet were busy defending against Macell's attacks, IP's ships stayed back behind, lingering in what would still be considered International Water. But those were just the warships. Inbound to the beach were 60 Hovercraft transports and 5 WASPs to unload their troops compliments and armor assests.
Once the unloading had finished, the force consisted of 25 Mammoth Tanks, 50 Minigun Tanks,20 Crusaders with ammo carriers, 100 CFAM HUV 15B Heavy Supply Trucks, along with 20,500 soldiers. They formed into their columns and headed south, towards the closest city in their southern sector.
Meanwhile, 20 C-141 Starlifter's and 25 C-5 Galaxy's lifted off from their bases in the Empire, along with their escorts of Super Tomcats, Super Hornets and RF-11 Archangels. After inflight refueling, they will reach their drop point in 1 hour RL (don't know if I'll be here). Their course would take them towards the biggest airport and military base in Macell.
Remiesian Marines cheer and wave as the IP heavy armor rumbles by.
Engineers are setting up a supply depot just inland from the beach to sustain any armored drives. Once completed it will be available to all Coalition units.
The last of the Marines are being ferried ashore and will form up with the first wave.
Eagle Lead whooped his way through a victory roll, throttling back to a more fuel-efficient cruising speed.
"Confirm three kills, Valkyrie Lead." Eagle called out. "Damn, but that looks good on camera. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at least one of those was yours."
---
Now the battle would truly begin. The force from Kotterdam was inferior in numbers, but superior in equipment. Their Level III body armour would take at least five hits from the enemy rifles in quick succession. Their big 7.62 x 51mm rifles would wreak havoc on their targets. That and the armoured vehicles would make a hell of a lot of difference.
Again, the 16 AV-19 Lightning IIs took to the air. Laden down with cluster bombs and rocket pods, they sought out the Avengers from low altitude, using hills and other terrain features to conceal themselves from fire while they scouted out the locations. Where possible, they tore into them with rockets and cluster bombs. When not, they called on the DKS Neptune to bombard them with naval fire.
Alright everyone...sorry I've been gone for the past two days, but I'm back and ready for some more slaughter...
The 8 Veritasean amphibious assault ships in the blockade have fully deployed their Marine contingency to various points of Marcellian territory. Meeting little opposition, they continue their track inwards towards key strategic sites. As they move in closer, the various naval ships in the blockade begin bombarding Marcellian shore heavily. The very ground and sky seem to shake from the noise. The destroyers also begin keying up their Tomahawk cruise missiles for more devastating blows. Deep penetration air strikes have begun, and the skies have been declared coalition-friendly. Most SAM sites have been struck, and any airfield has been demolished.
28-09-2003, 05:44
The beachhead has been set up and the supply depot is finished. All coalition forces in this sector now have a rearming/refueling point.
Reinforcements can now land freely in the Remiesian sector and move inland without any Marcellian threat.
In other news, 2,000 remiesian Marines have begun a push inland and are encountering little or no resistance. Artillery and air support stands by, ready to blast anything that stands in their way.
The Veritasean Marines have pushed their way inland and are currently within the former Marcellian capital. The Veritasean flag has been raised over the capitol building, signifying the loss of Marcellian control. There are still pockets of organized resistance that could take a while to sort out, but a major Marcell-led offensive seems unlikely. Assault helicopters and fighter-bombers are searching out any military bases and destroying them, while the coalition's assault forces secure the major cities and attempt to revive law and order. Food shipments have been allowed to pass the naval blockade and are being handed out by coalition forces to the starving Marcell populous.
Kotterdam
28-09-2003, 20:24
The Kotterdam forces, shifting from an offensive mode to a more peacable stance, take up policing roles in an attempt to prevent the descent into lawlessness that would occur in a complete power vaccum. Troop transports laden with engineers and military police begin ariving in the Remiesian sector to help rebuild the infrastructure and maintain order. High Command wants to send a message to the populace that the war was waged against the government, not against the people.
28-09-2003, 21:18
While other coalition forces were setting up their bases at the beachhead and pushing inland, dozens of C-141's and C-5's flew overhead to deliver their loaded paratroopers. The roar of so many transports flying overhead created a loud roar, as the escorts of the transports flew in and out of formation, waving their wingtips in welcome at the friendly forces below.
Once at the designated point, hundreds of troops throw themselves out of the backs of the planes, dropping down to take control of the military base outside of (abc?) city.
Approaching the city from another direction was the first column of IP troops and armor unloaded before.
IC: Empire Press News Report - In Marcell
Once on the ground, the paratroopers moved in quick succession to capture the leading personel on the military base, and to take the base commander prisoner. The armory and other strategic places were also seized within the first two minutes. However, there were a few casualties in this attempt, though they were far fewer than expected. Overall, 38 IP soldiers were wounded in gunfights on the base, another 15 were injured upon landing incorrectly, and still another 7 were killed by Marcellian soldiers. Though the news of light casualties were very much welcomed, IP commanders were confussed to learn that the base only contained a skeleton crew of soldiers manning their posts.
