Attican Motorwerke announces new Tank
Attican Motorwerke announces new tank:
The Cheetah Light Tank
No Pics yet
It has light armor, enough to resist bullets. It has a 120mm cannon to knock out tanks. The cannon can retract into the turret. It can be airdropped. I will have in-depth specs and pics soon enough.
The Cheetah will begin trials shortly.
Light Armor, light cannon, not enough to penetrate much armor, and pretty useless, unless in recon or defense, or even to keep the heat of heavier tanks.
120mm cannon is not a light cannon... Leopard 2s and Abrahms use 120mm.
T-96, T-94, FT-9, T80UM5 and some others use 130-155mm cannons.
120mm isnt of much use anymore.
The T-94 used a 125mm cannon. The other tanks are NS tanks, not RL. Plus, a 155mm cannon would topple a tank over.

Its unknown wether T-94 will use a 125, 135, or 152mm gun.
Pst.. my Ally, the Macabees has a tank called the Cheetah, I smell copyright infringement!!!
DT: The T-94 is a RL tank.
OOC2: I announced Cheetah about a week ago, he never said anything about it.
OOC:
I know, fas says 125mm gun, a russian site about armor which has russian sources says 152mm gun, another site says 135mm gun.
OOC: I doubt its 152, probly a type of 125. 135 is possible, but is no better than 125 really.
Regardless, the Cheetah is a Light Tank, that can be airdropped. It's not a MBT like the King Leopard.

Im thinking 135mm will be used on both it and the final version of the Black Eagle (T-80UM2).
regardless. BTW, should I sell the Cheetah tank or should I produce it for the Reichswehr only?
I am considering that. I just don't want to give possibly enemies weapons that match mine. I am the only power using King Leopards (great tank, there are better, but not many), and giving the AF-100 production rights out proved bad. Also, the Cheetah will likely support TOW missiles.
Combat Trials complete. The tank CANNOT withstand a tank shell (it is not designed to), but can epenetrate a Leopard 2s armour. It's TOW missiles obviously knocked out King Leopards.
Airdrop trials tomorrow.

A light tank with such a big gun should be primarily be used either as a consealed defence or a hit'n'run tank. Light tanks is usually used with a heavy machine gun or a small fast-firing cannon with some sort of TOW, since it usually assign to roles where the possibility where it may face more armoured tanks is small, so it is utilzed against infantery or as recon, as Freedom stated.
It might be a good tank in snowy, mountain areas where it might hard for a heavier tank to get through and with such a big cannon it could act as a form of artillary in open mountain areas as well.
Realistically a very lgiht tank like you say would do much again most regular tanks, but if you equip it wiht an ETC 125mm cannon, if is able to punch through most know tank armor(electic-thermal-chemical:very high velocity, provides mch more kick than normal cannon wiht the same size).
We are interested in buying this tank or obtaining a manufacturer's license, if at all possible.

This concept is very much like our own light tanks. Ours however need all the space in the turret for the advanced speedloading and radiator systems necessary to fire the main gun quickly. A division of them can blast a town to pieces in seconds(not that we advocate that sort of thing) if they have to, a very cool sight for the nightly news......
When you think about it, a light tank with a big gun actually makes more sense, and is more cost effective than a typical MBT, since both of them will probably be taken out in one shot anyway. Countries like myself(large manpower base, low economy) should probably realize this........
BTW Cheetah is the name of my reconnaissance cycles
I also have King Leopard tanks, which have two cannon and HEAVY armor. They are lighter than the Abrahms (AAC Armor - Advanced Armour Concepts), so they can traverse bridges n stuff. I am also working on other tanks as well, and APCs.
A news reporter took this snapshot of the top secret Cheetah tank:

As you can see, compared to a Leopard 2 or King Leopard, it has a similar overall shape, except, to try to makeup somewhat for it's lack of armor, it slopes the armor more. It is also about half the length, to account for it's airdrop suspension. It's gun is also on the far left side of the tank, so it can be retracted and locked onto the side during airdrop.
OOC: Any comments or suggestions?
OOC2: Also, for an APC, should it use Treads or Wheels?
OOC3: Should I sell the Cheetah?
