Genetic Engineering Program Begun

We are starting a genetic engineering program that will hopefully result in the elimination of all genetic diseases and general annoyances such as bad eyesight and allergies. Eventually we will move on to more complex changes that will be improvements instead of elimination of faults.
OOC: This is military in nature, given how our compulsory military service works. Eventually we hope to have the most elite of our soldiers much like those of the Clans in Battletech without the limiting factors of their society that stop them from being truly dangerous.
EDIT: No, the entire SLDF is not going to be composed of super soldiers, the end result will be several strike forces composed of these soldiers. This is to stop the cries of "godmod".

OOC: Have fun.. and do me a favor, make the soldiers look nice and gruesome... maybe engineer them to look like Harlequin children!

OOC: I don't think so, they will have to interact with society and be useful after their career in the military and that would not be possible if they can't even look presentable in public.

OOC: Well, you could just mass breed so many that horrific ones that no standard citizen needs military service. It would instill fear in the enemy and most would just drop their rifles and flee if they saw an army of living Harlequins walking towards them... they actually look... "cute".

It's my firm belief that people haven't put themselves in a position where it is possible they might die for their country then they have not earned their citizenship. Also, mass bred things would not be able to live the life of a child and would not have friends and family and thus would be more liable to question loyalties. Trust me, I've got this figured out, but I encourage you to do so if you wish to have an army of harlequins.
If everyone has the same genes there will be inbreeding because of a lack of diversity.
