The Riflemans are the knockout punch, by the time they engage the enemy the Marauders and Bowmans will have softened them up with long range firepower. Infantry is still a big part of the army, but right now I need to get my armor out, cause that's always been the weakest part of my military.

Ill just trip the mechs.Boom problem solved I win.

The mechs aren't going to blow up just because they might trip, but how are you going to get close enough to trip them?

The mechs aren't going to blow up just because they might trip, but how are you going to get close enough to trip them?Simple a sabot to the knee. Then before they get up a second tank gives them sabot to the head.

I find it funny that people automatically assume that just because a mech is a walking machine, they can just waltz right up to the legs and futz around with them. First of all, you'd have a death wish to not back up mechs with an air force. Mechs alone cannot win a war. That's common sense. Second of all, if you did manage to get that close, you'd have to avoid being stepped on while having a cable strong enough to stop the legs. If you're using a tank, you'd have to hit a moving target. And that's not simple. Even if you take down one mech, you have others right on top of you. People have this idea engraved in their head that nations that use BattleMechs send them in one by one undefended. They're not. They're supplimented by lighter armor, infantry, and an air force.

So the whole "I can just take out the legs" theory has as much potential as "I can just shoot the gas tank on your tank" theory. Yes, you can, but it's a slim shot, especially in the heat of battle when you have mere seconds to react.

Now is the Striker Regiment, extremely quick and very simple, they're meant to hit a target and fade away.

Thank you Benderland, I don't think Walten saw that part about infantry being a big part of my army still. I Corp will have a battlemech division, four infrantry divisions (further supplemented by mechs), and four independent mech regiments. II Corp will have even more infrantry and just two less independent regiments, so my army won't be an easy kill. Besides, it would be absolutely insane to put a modern tank one-on-one against one of my mechs.

Poor fellow. I sincerely hope not to battle against him never.

I use the House Davion military organization, Regimental Combat Teams (RCTs) composed of:

1 Regiment of battlemechs (108 mechs, IIRC), including Dropships and regimental air support,
1 Regiment of Infantry (no elementals), including Dropships and regimental air support, and
1 Regiment of armor (tanks and self- propelled artillery), including Dropships and Regimental air support.

The mech regimental Dropships are, of course, Union and Overlord class, and that is like deploying a fortress in the middle of a battlefield.

I like Davion organization in BT, but for NS I prefer something similar to the SLDF organization. It's structured a lot like normal modern day armies and it's something I'm confortable with. I do use combined arms, but this is only for listing mechs. My Heavy Assault regiments use Long Tom artillery and the Bowmans have artillery missiles, so I'm covered there. For dropships I use Nekohono'os for troops transport and Overlord-Cs for mech transport (I am considering deploying Fortresses for battalion-level commands to use).

EDIT: I'm a bit confused about the poor fellow comment, would you clarify?

Walten, of course. I suppose the next mech-blowing tactic will be something that, if you look at it, actually can blow a tank even more easily. This argument seems to follow a cycle.

Of course, although I'd like to see him try and take on the tanks I'm going to be using.

Sure, if you can come up with five trillion. That's what I paid for it and I still haven't recuped the loss.

FYI, you'll only get the designs for the Standard fusion engine, the Extra Light engine will cost another trillion.
