"Of late, we have seen a growing interest in the colonization of the planet Venus. Wazzu has been one of the leading nations in this attempt, but we ask that others please slow down.

"The nation of Menelmacar claims complete ownership of that planet. While we in Wazzu do not recognize any such claim, we do recognize that Menelmacar is a powerful nation that has whown its willingness to use extreme military force.

"The government of Wazzu is negotiating with Menelmacar pending the readyness of our own colony ship. But rash actions by forign governments and corporations threaten those talks...they also put colonists in danger.

"If your a colonist, we strongly suggest and ask that you hold back, wait a while longer. If your a concerned citizen of your nation, ask your leaders to hold back for the safety of the colonists. If you are a national leader, then please hold back any attempt to colonize. To move foreward now without caution is to invite international incident, and perhaps war. We do not wish this for anyone's sake.

We have no intention of letting ANY nation hinder our attempts to settle Venus. Venus is our dream and we will see our dream come to fruition.

The Empire of Valinon wishes to know if it would be possible to lease either land or a small town and make it into a treaty port. We will of course be willing to negotiate a lease term period and compensate Wazzu handsomely for either of these options.

OOC: I'm trying to bring more influence into the Sol System. So far I have twelve treaty ports on Earth, with a possible thirteenth in the works. I also have recently acquired some land from Sunset to build a treaty port on Mars. Actually that port is near your border with him Wazzu.

There is no response from the Wazzu government. It had already stated its position, its request.

But somewhere in a somewhat spartian office (for its occupant), Brian Walton lowered his head and sighed.

OOC: Wazzu doesn't have any territory on Venus...yet. Once it does, it remains to be seen if it will be of any value (depends on what Menelmacar does).

Interesting about the port though...Wazzu's most developed areas are along the ocean, and near Sunset and Kajal...best trade there.

We will not let anything stand in the way of us helping turning Venus into a utopia. We have forseen that the once hostile planet will be transformed into a major power in the Sol System like Mars has. Venus like Mars is the future!

We require more information on this WorldRing, its location, and of your own nation. Currently we have had no diplomatic contact with the Snels.

The Worldring currently resides in Venusian orbit. It is a topological torus, inner diameter approximately 74,000 kliks, outer diameter 74,004 kliks, squared off with a trapezoidal cross-section, average minor base 1.5 kliks, average major base 3 kliks. The majority of the structure is scaffold. Approximately 10% in inhabitable.

We are seekers and custodians of knowledge. To get more specific information, you must ask more specific questions.

This arrangement sounds unacceptable for the scale of a treaty port we had previously imagined. However, we wish to know how open you are to members of the seekers of knowledge from other nations? Provost Academician Zakharov of the Imperial University might be very interested in establishing contact with you. Finally, what type of experiments and scientific knowledge do you pursue at the WorldRing? And more importantly, is it the only home of your race?

The research conducted aboard the Worldring is of many types. Depending on its current orbital velocity, we may or may not be able to engage in experiments requiring a zero-g environment, including, but not limited to, aerogel production, optical lense production, carbon and/or titanium nanotube production, and spaceborne biology. Consistent activities include genecraft, artificial life and artificial intelligence research, spacecraft/aircraft design and construction, propulsion system research, design, and construction, microelectromechanical systems research, sociology, archiving, and planetology.

The Worldring acts as a macrolife arcology, intended as an auxilliary captial in the case of the disabling or inavailability of the Arkship. It is capable of housing the majority of our population in the event that asylum is required. If a 100% interstellar exodus is ever required, the Worldring will become our only home. Until then, it is not.
