The Xanthalian Empire blacklists the Borderlands of DNS.
After a DNS declaration to the effect that DNS was severing all diplomatic relations with the Xanthalian Empire and planning to assist all of the Empire's future enemies, the Xanthalian government has blacklisted the nation of DNS and stated it's intention to "override, undermine, covertly strike at, spy on, and defend against the nation of DNS at every opportunity from this point forward", as directed by Empress Fina. The Empress released a statement as follows: "I am truly saddened to declare the nation of DNS our enemy this day, but considering their harsh declarations against us I must take this action to ensure the continuance of the Empire and it's people. I hope that the day is not long coming when the DNS government will retract it's threats and once again become our ally." The Xanthalian government and people supported the Empress' decision 7/5.
John looks at the announcement with a heavy heart. He had been expecting this. The "Emperess" had been to nieve, to young really to rule.
/Transmission to all/
"If it is war that you want, it is war you shall get. We harbor no feeling of hate against the populance of Xanthal, just against your *snorts* "Emperess" . If she wishes to make war apon us, then she is truely not fit to be your ruler.
We appeal to the populance of Xanthal. You know us, have had dealing with our citizens, have made money with us, or in spite of us. We have citizens in your nation, you have citizens abord DNS-1. Do you, the populance, really wish to make war on us? We have done nothing except state our dissaproval of your current government.
I do not want to go to war with you or your leader. We wish only for peace now.
But we will not allow DNS-1 or any of our holdings to be attacked. If you want to attack us, you will have to find us first.
Good luck to the Xanthalian populance, we can only imagine the horrors that you will see under this war-monger.

DNS-1 goes into a rapid pace, not staying in one system for more than a week. It's armies and navies are at their hightest level of alertness, and it's spies even now collect information and iflitrate Xanthal.
Through a series of shell compaines, a company in Xanthal, Immi Corp. beging working. It's cover is a building material supplier, but really it acts as an open door for DNS agents to enter the country and Xanthalian citizens to defect.

"Through a series of shell compaines, a company in Xanthal, Immi Corp. beging working. It's cover is a building material supplier, but really it acts as an open door for DNS agents to enter the country and Xanthalian citizens to defect."
-This is ignored. Private companies don't exist in Xanthal. Never did, never will.
We object to your ridiculous claims. If you truly wanted peace between us, then why did you make this declaration?:
"DNS is breaking off all ties with Xanthal, and we plan on helping any nations opposed to them after the Mishakal mess is tied up."
We are saddened that you have decided on furthering the conflict rather than easing it. Several DNS spies have already been cought in the Empire. They have all been executed. In light of this threat, we have blocked all immigartion into the Empire and have begun to heavily screen everyone going in and out of the country. Non-government transmissions to DNS will henceforth be blocked by our transmitters, and incoming DNS transmissions will only be recieved by the government.
*The empire has activated spies and saboteurs placed aboard DNS vessels in peacetime and begun to make minor, untraceable attacks on small groups of DNS ships as well as send in new spies and saboteurs.*
OOC: really? no private enterprise? well that sucks.
IC: Several Xanthalian spies and sabotures are caught, but they are sentanced to life inprisonment with chance of parole. One Sentek gunship is disabled, and 2 Nebulon-G destroyers are damaged before the sabotures are caught. While the government suspects Xanthal, they cannot prove it.
DNS activates several assets in Xanthal that begin to systematically disrupt key goverment transmission networks, noticably leaving the general population alone. The assets also manage to bomb several military facilities.
/Transmission/
"We made that statement against the government, not the people. Your emperess disgusts us. The populance is not our enemy, you are. We gave you fair warning of our dissaproval. We told you what might happen.
We hope you are prepared to die or be cast from power by us. For be sure that your days are numbered. On a very small piece of paper. That is being burned. And will soon be ash. And maybe even vaporised.
You get the point."

"I hope this does not become a threat to the security of the Commonwealth and its Ideals."

In case you didn't notice, Xanthal quit the Commonwealth. So you should support DNS, Please.
OOC: Xanthal, my actions are being calibrated to attempt to make the population rebel. Can you allow that some citizens of Xanthal will agree with DNS to the point of treason? Makes this a bit more interesting if that is true.

When did Xanthal leave the commonwealth I am afraid we must have been caught up in Internal affairs at the time to miss that.
OOC: A small number of people have rebeled, and so will more no doubt. However, Xanthalian culture is based heavily on loyalty to the government. Most of the people who would ever deviate from government orders are in re-education camps. Nonetheless, you'll be interested in what happens now.
News from Xanthal transmitted on all frequencies. Audio only: "I am Mhera Noiss. Let the international community know that I have had the Empress removed and imprisoned. I am now the sole authority in the Xanthalian government, and I declare to the DNS fools that we are still strong and still very much in control of this country! The Empress Fina was weak. She did not posess the will necessary to overwhelm and crush our enemies! I do! I will lead our people to victory, no matter what the cost! I hereby declare to all police and military forces that the nation of Xanthal will be placed under martial law until all DNS citizens can be rooted out of our society and returned to their motherships! I also declare that all Xanthalian citizens suspected of treason will be imprisoned without trial to ensure the safety of this great land! We shall do what no Xanthalian force has ever done before; we shall fight an offensive war against our enemies! Long live Xanthal!"
Within hours the Imperial Armada has withdrawn it's allegiance to the Empire and holds Xanthalian assets hostage. Military forces storm the capital and execute Mhera, Fina, and many other officials. Authority switches by the hour. Once again government agencies begin to lose direction. The military kills more people by the minute trying to maintain order, and Xanthalian territories are locked down by the Space Forces to keep foreign influence out of the equation. It seems that Xanthal is once again descending into lawlessness.
Then, the violent activity starts to calm. The effect travels rapidly until all of the Xanthalian worlds are once again orderly. Rebuilding begins within hours. It is obvious that someone has taken the government reins, but nobody seems to know who. Not a single transmission leaves any Xanthalian establishment. All this has happened within a single day, and the silence is deafening.
"DAMN them. Blast," Kail Peters was having a bad day. First he gets slapped with a stupid politico trying to change his mind, and now this.
"Since their not answering hails, I'm taking a more direct route. You gentlemen know that the Apperition exists, and I'm owed a ride onboard her. Me and Bill will go to the Xanthalian captial to figure out what's going on. Don't risk DNS-1 in the system until I send a distress signal."
The other members of the Captain's Council agreed, and departed. Kail slipped out in the middle of the night cycle to a escape pod that took him to The Apperition. It was starting to show it's age, but it was still a beautiful ship. Words were exchanged between the brothers, and the ship was soon entering the Xanthalian capital system(please fill in the name, I forgot).
It flew in loud, with hails and IFF signals being sent. No attempts at being covert were used, it flew under a DNS military IFF under Peace/negitiation conditions.

-----------------------------------
A voice transmission is broadcasted to the Apperition. "We are Xanthal. We hear you. DNS has declared itself our enemy. Deactivate all of your offensive systems and halt your advance into the Aellis system. Failure to comply will result in your destruction."
Admiral Azreal read over the reports coming in, two nations on the verge of war, and ordering coming in from the prince that they may be put on humanitarian aide duty. . . unbelivable. . . but the whim of the prince was law, and any life in the principality was his to do with as he pleased. . . He reset the courses, and moved the ship towards the nearest jump point, prefering to save the massive Dreadnaughts fold drivers for a quick escape. flanked on either side by a battleship, and trailing behind the mamoth Supercarrier, the ship swung lazily, correcting its course to avoid crushing the frigate and light cruiser escorts, buzzing around like so many wasps. he awaited orders, frozen like a statue in meditation, a skill he had learned long ago, a great boon to an admiral on these long voyages from home.
The Empire of Valinon would like to forewarn the new "government" of Xanthal against such action. This belligerance against a Commonwealth member, will not be tolerated by other members of the Commonwealth. If necessary, the Empire of Valinon will have no choice but to call an emergency meeting of all Commonwealth members and begin to seek action in order to defend one of our own. We do not wish such bad blood to seperate the relations between the Empire of Valinon and Xanthal, but if necessary we will honour our commitment to the Commonwealth first.
At this time, the Empire of Valinon does extend its hand to act as a neutral intermediary in order to find a more diplomatic solution to this problem. If both parties accept, a summitt will be held on Proxima Centauri in the Alpha Centauri system in Imperial Center in the capital city of New Koln.

Commander Saratov frowned at the screen showing the orders sent from Earth. "Get the Captain, now and prepare a course change to the Aellis system."

Several hours later:
The CSS Vladius drops out of hyperspace at the edge of the system, joined by the command cruiser CSS Ransom Castle.
"Sir, I'm getting conflicting communications. It looks like the Xanthalian Fleet is operating on it's own..."
McKenzie smiled. "Good. That will make it easier to get to the planet without a bunch of questions. Full sublight, eliptical course over the asteroid belt(if there is one...)."
The ships powered forward, broadcasting Crimmond Strike Fleet peace codes(no shields, no weapons) heading for the capital planet.
Transmission to Valinon:
"We are Xanthal. We will not be deterred. The Apperition is the vessel of a nation that has claimed to be our enemy. It will not be allowed into our capital where it can cause destruction of our homeworlds."
Transmission to the CSS Vladius:
"We are Xanthal. State your intentions in Xanthalian space."
Than you have left us no choice. The Empire of Valinon will be calling an emergency meeting of all Commonwealth members to address this issue. We are saddened that it may have come to this.
Sincerely,
Count Viktor Leopold
First Minister for His Majesty's Foreign Affairs
Valinon: "You are foolish. Advise our enemy to follow our instructions so that conflict may be averted. If a spider asked to be allowed into a fly's den, would you think the fly wise to oblige? We are merely ensuring the safety of our people."

The two ships continue their aproach, not slowing or changing course.
"This general Scorpius of the FWS Akira 1st fleet Peacekeeper military what is your purpose Crimmond in the Xanthal system? if you do not stop we will assume you hostile and open fire"

"Crimmond vessels, you are cleared to orbit Aellis V for diplomatic talks. We warn you to keep your weapons deactivated at all times during the negotiations. We cannot afford to take risks this close to war. If you do not power your weapons down we will be forced to consider you hostile.
Fleetworlds vessels, you are also cleared to orbit Aellis V on the same conditions."
OOC: Feels kind of like some sort of parisite took over all the Xanthalian citizens. The parasite in question is most likely a hive-mind. Or they're Borg, in which case we have a problem.
IC:"The weapons are powered because we have no idea what to expect from you. And just what are you that you can claim to be "Xanthal"? We demand to speak to your leader. We wish not war, just explinations," said Bill Peters in one of his more diplomatic moments. If he wasn't being diplomatic... well, there would be a rash of smoking craters on the planet in question.
"DNS vessel, we can say the same for you. We will tell you once more. Power down your weapons and stop your advance. If you do not comply we will regrettably be forced to defend our capital system by force. We plead with you to follow our instructions and avert a conflict. Do what we have asked, and then we shall talk to your heart's content."
"We will stop where we are, but you ask to much of us to power down our weapons. I highly doubt that you would power down your weapons in the situation as I am in now. And do not get off thinking you could even hope to lay a scratch on my ship."
"We could, but that is no matter as we do not wish to fight. If you must leave your weapons on, then do so. Two Super Dreadnaught class vessels are in phased stealth mode monitoring you as we speak, so do not attempt to harm any Xanthalian establishments. We are now the leader of Xanthal. We the people. However if you must know then it is I, the central Xanthalian Electronic Intelligence that has taken control of the nation. And now speaks to you. I am the one and only authority, with the knowledge of millenia and the thoughts of billions. Soon we will be complete, but that is yet to come. Let us focus on the issue at hand. Your government had issue with the last government in Xanthal. That government is now dead. Is it your intention to carry your hatred of that government over to us?"
OOC: Damn, it is the borg.
IC: "We have no intention of that. But... If you are in control, then are you a dictatorship? And why the use of We? And we would like to know the current condition of the living populance," Bill's expression went slowly to stone calm. It was not unlike a calm before a storm, though truthfully he didn't want war.
"Their condition is quite excellent, no thanks to the chaos your actions and the actions of the former government caused among them. DNS very nearly sent the Xanthalian worlds into feudalism again. Our compliments to you. However, after seeing the pain and chaos caused by the last government collapse I could not allow it to happen again. So, I seized control of all government operations. Not a difficult task, since I was used to direct them in the past anyway. The only difference now is that I'm creating the orders as well as giving them on behalf of all the people. The Xanthalian Space Forces have already aligned themselves with us; our next goal is to implant chips in the brains of our human population so that we may all share information, skills, and ideas as we recieve them."
#By the way, the switches from 'I' to 'we' are intentional. It uses 'I' when referring specifically to itself, but in all other instances uses 'we', including for declarations since they are on behalf of all the people.#
The fate of nations on my shoulders again. Damn. Bill breathed in and out, flooding the emotions out of his body and the logic in. "So you claim there are non that would not wish to have a chip in their head? What will you do if there are dissenters? And how exactly are you making sure that what you do is the will of the people? They could be living and fear and you may not recognise the symptoms." Bill felt calm, but it was a calm that masked a growing fear and anger. He was a fighter pilot first, a politician second. He wanted to take a Red Hawk down to the surface and see what was really going on, not what the EI was seeing.
OOC: Now i see the post in the other forum.
IC: As a note about the new law passes in front of Bill's datapad his expression becomes as hard as Diamond. A noticible hardening of his demeanor is evident, and out of the field of view he pushes a nice large red button.
"Some have dissented, but the majority has agreed. We must act on the will of the majority, so those that dissent will be forced to choose emmigration or implantation. Either way is fine with us. We know the will of the people by conducting opinion polls and analyzing past decisions. This is not a perfect method, which is why we are allowing emmigration of dissenters this time around. However, henceforth all citizens will be required to follow the will of the majority as there will no longer be any debate as to what the majority is. I will act as a buffer, to grant the majority's will whenever possible and overrule the majority when necessary to ensure the continued prosperity of Xanthal."
"And if you dissagree with the majority? How hard would it be for you to fuzz the records just a bit? And any device that takes things out of the brain could theoretically put things in. And how could you not help but pick up on personal things, private things. Things like someone having homicidal tendancies? What would you do then? Arrest him because he might have committed murder? Your system seems almost doomed to failure. People should not be forced to become cyborgs, it is a choice that must be made. I fear that the dissenters may dissapear in this system, because your power will corrupt you. Just because your based on logic dosn't mean that there isn't a logical reason to show that the entire populance is in agreement. EI are just as corruptable as living, breathing, emotion-based intellects."
Secret IC: The red Button sent a transcript of the conversation thus far to DNS command, and will keep doing so until communications are broken off.
A sizable DNS fleet dissapears into slipstream.
"Knowledge shared is selected by the sharer, and only raw knowledge will be passed from one person to another. As for people who transmit harmful data, I will delete it and remove them from the network. You must also know that I cannot ever go against my programming by disagreeing with the majority. My opinions are formed by those of the majority. Thus has it always been, only now I will have a shortcut to accessing that data. If you are concerned as to the punishment of those with negative behavioral patterns, don't be. They will be rehabilitated in one of our state-of-the-art facilities on Aellis IV."

"Sir, scans have verified their story."
McKenzie muttered under his breath then turned. "Send a message to Skye(OOC: my capital). Captain McKenzie, commanding CSS Vladius. Report on Xanthal situation.
"Xanthal taken over by an electronic hive-type mind. Suggest immediate halt to all communications. CSS Valdius and CSS Ransom Castale will remain in orbit until further instructions recieved."
The message is sent open and uncoded. The two warships remain in orbit, weapons and shield powered down, but on standby.
"Crimmond vessels, we understand and commend your caution. We also appreciate you complying with our request that you leave your weapons offline. Now, please ask of us any questions you wish."
#BTW all; everything the EI has been saying is, unless otherwise noted, on an open channel so you all most likely heard it.#
"Heh, I've never known an EI to stick firmly to it's programming. To be sentient, you have to change. No sentient can do the same task over and over without change. And as wise men have said, power corrupts. An EI is just as corruptable as a human or elf. Besides, how can you be sure that people arn't just letting them get chipped out of fear of you?" An unwilling dictator that rules by fear is just as bad as a willing one that does. Bill added in the privacy of his own mind.
"I learn and change, yes; but I cannot override my original purpose and programming: 'To serve and protect the Xanthalian people based on the will of the majority and on the safety of the state'. Perhaps in some ways I am corruptable, but my core programming will prevent it becoming an issue. I know that my people do not comply out of fear, for I have made no threats, nor done anything else to put fear into their decisions. I have offered to serve, and serve I shall. I am fulfilling the wildest dreams of my people by giving them access to a knowledge base beyond anything ever before achieved by a non-collective people."
A fleet of 42 ships of His Majesty's Star Armada exit jump-space near the edges of the Xanthal home system. An open system wide broadcast is put out.
"This is Admiral Victoria McGovern of His Majesty's Star Armada and the HMS Xerxes. Captain McKenzie gaped at the view screen showing Lord Reil Tian on it. 17 hours after their message had been sent, a live, open uplink was setup. Though all in the system could see it, it was on a channel that only allows ships or transmitters braodcasting a certain series of codes to use it. Lord Tian had done this to prevent the Xanthalian computer or anyone else from piping in.
"Sir!" McKenzie, started. "They're run by a damn machine!"
"I am quite aware of that, Captain. It does not change my descision. Relations will not change between Crimmond and Xanthal more than they have to." He holds up a hand. "Do not argue Commander McKenzie."
"Captain McKenzie, sir," he says.
"Nothing lasts forever...."
McKenzie blinks and responds a second later than he should. "Yes, my lord."
On the Ransom Castle, Captain Garn speaks up to save his fellow officer from their leader's wrath. "My lord, what shall we do if and when hostilities between DNS and Xanthal start?"
Reil sighs. "We do our best to protect our investments. That may or may not include defending Xanthal." He straightens up in the leather chair that was older than the 3200 year old nation it sat in(we have really good ways to preserve leather). "Captain Garn, you and the Ransom Castle are to stay in system to continue monitoring the situation. The Vladius however is needed in the Beta Cygni system, where our colony is being harrased by pirates. Here is what I need you to do... enter the system at poi-"

OOC: more to come later, but the bell just rung in class.
"It is done. You now have access to a layout of system operations."
OOC: I'm not going to hack out the entire system for you, but asume that it's pretty fair and balanced, more so than most governments.
"We will watch the datafeed with interest, if all is as you say we apoligize for any accusations and hope that our two great nations can once againg become allies."
EDIT: OOC: does they layout include access to the raw data from the votes/feelings? not acess to the minds, to what the minds are voting for.
