Slideck Institute of Technology
Slideck International Institute of Technology; Proposal
Capacity: 30,000 students
Slideck Tech will specialize in degrees in:
Bachelors/Masters
Computer Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Aerospace Engineering
Civil Engineering
Masters/Doctorate
Physics
Just Added:
Chemistry
Chemical Engineering
Materials Engineering
ROTC
Law
Slideck Tech is currently seeking accreditation, but has found no professional societies or accreditation boards in existence. Therefore The Rogue Leader of Slideck wishes to set the standard in technical undergraduate and graduate studies.
Slideck Tech will be a fully featured campus, providing on-campus housing and dining. Financial aid will only be available in the form of scholarships. All scholarships are provided by the Rogue Leader of Slideck and are based on need and merit. No loans, sorry.
Cost for one year's tuition and fees is expected to be $12,000, or $48,000 for a Bachelor's
Completion time is expected to be 3 years. Cost is projected at $300,000,000. To cover the cost for the first year I must fill the capacity of the college to 6,250 students. The Rogue Nation of Slideck is a very intellecual people, so results are expected to be good.
APPLY NOW!
Incoming transmission from Auir II, to the nation of Slideck.
"Greetings human. It is pleasing to hear that your nation takes education so seriously, and understands its importance to modern life. We have a question though. Are all the teaching slots already taken? We ask because we are a very technologically advanced race, and feel that we could help in certain academic areas by sending out some of our experts to teach. We would be happy to send an expert in Aerospace Engineering to teach, if you wish. Please inform us of your decision. Once again, we applaud you for these actions."
What is your salary?
Slideck tech is also looking for a police force, and a construction crew willing to build the institute. The going price right now is $300,000,000, but negotiable. I will need applicants willing to pay ahead FIRST, though, as Slideck is still a very small nation and does not wish to take out a loan of that size.
"Zanaroth Trakis' current salary is roughly $65,000 per year, minus taxes. He is an Aerospace expert, and has expressed a great deal of interest in the position."
I will think about it. It depends on how many aerospace applicants I get. Slideck, while small, is fairly sophisticated. I think we can handle possibly 2,000 aerospace students. We'll see what it looks like. I have had one bid in the NationStates forum for 1,000 students so far, but he/she has not specified the field of interest.
"As you wish. We may also send a select few of our, ahem, 'intellectual elite', to this school, as it sounds most promising. You could expect perhaps 75 and 100 students in computer engineering and mechanical engineering respectfully. Of course, these are only rough estimates, these are just what we predict."
Sounds good. When the population goal is met, you will be inquired for a final number. If I exceed 2,000 aerospace students then I will employ your professor.
*bump* a little over 1100 students? thats it? higher education has MANY benefits! Think of how much better you will be able to manage your computer systems, you'll have an easier time developing aircraft technology!
Better R&D for new types of weapons systems!

hehehe....i was offering to put a construction company up to the job....
hrm. Can I see some of their work?
The Rogue Leader of Slideck has decided to add a (not so)short course in Network Security and Administration to the list. Cost will be 14,000 but the course will only last one year.
now just IMAGINE what you could do with THAT!
Slideck Tech, Your One Stop Brain Shop.
Gradenk Professional Educational Accreditation board(GPEAB) would be willing to accreditate the programs you intend to offer.
The GPEAB is a government backed institute which promotes quality education. All universities , private colleges and schools in Gradenk,Graven and Oxnard Montalvo have been certified by the board.
All our schools are good as the criteria for evaluation by the board is very strict. Our standards are much higher than that of ISO 9002. Thus you can be assured of a better rating when your institute is grade by us. Each sucessfull applicant usually receive between 2500 - 5000 students from the Empire of Gradenk. (On some cases, we have nearly 67k of students just in one particular country.
Professor Emeritus Rudy Shanmuganathan,
Chairman,
Gradenk Professional Educational Accreditation Board.
Chairman of Accrediation Council
I would be very interested.
We're delighted of your interest.
As soon as the construction have commenced, We will send our officers to grade the institute.
Our criteria.
Based on the following list.
1) Institute's facility
2) Faculty members
3) Security
4) Accomodations of student :
- does it meet normal human comfort level
- is it conducive environment to studt
- the facilities available for students.
5) Lesson Quality
- How lessons are conducted
- credentials of Lecturers
- innovative ways used by lecturers to instill knowledge in students.
Do note that we might add additional criterias to ensure that your institue is on par with other major institutes in Gradenk as well as those around her Empire.

800, if i may put them in
I am assuming that the nation of falastur will be constructing the college. I project the build time to be 3 years. I still need about 5,000 more students, though.
SIIT needs a police force. Name your price. machine or human.
800, if i may put them in
I am at a loss... put them in...??????
On another note, interest in education seems to be a bit low, save a few countries. I must note that having an education is like toting a gun held by the brain. Those of you that are hosting factories would probably be interested in having several aerospace and computer engineers for advanced development projects. Perhaps you find an abandoned vehicle during war time. Do you expect a regular foot soldier to be able to reverse engineer the technology that is held within?

OOC question....how do you put pictures into forum posts?
I am not sure what you mean, but it doesn't sound like anything crooked or underhanded so I will probably say yes. I need a better understanding of what you want, though, before I do.

OOC put basically, in order to show you pictures of my most recent constuctions, i need to be able to put some pictures in this thread...which i have never done before..
unfortunately, its late and i need to keep some sleep....so i will just hope you accept my construction offer before i wake up in the morning....
I'm sorry, that was in reference to the person who posted before you, lol.

OOOOOOHHHH 800 per class? EDIT: !@#$(pardon the french) thats a lot! are you sure?
no, just 800 poeple, each one takeing all the class', and how much $?
Let's see here. Core courses for the first 2 years. After that 2 extra for each major. 4 majors for engineering courses, and an additional 4 years for physics for a masters. This comes out to be...
(EDIT) 134,400,000
note that this will take 14 years for each student to complete.

S&J already has many higher education institutions, and don't need to export our students. However, we are shocked at the limited range of courses your school will offer, and would like to donate money for a chemistry department to be established.
Thanks! Chemistry will be added to the curriculum
(ooc: I don't know of a lot of majors that are "information technology" related so I couldn't really list a lot of majors... plus I'm n00b... lol)
EDIT: along with chemistry, Chemical engineering will also be added, along with materials engineering.

OOC--I'm not too worried about my NS IT students, but I'm an RL chemist student, so this sort of thing is always a concern of mine.
bob; No I am not going to RP this. This is simply a market of sorts. A market for education.
Also, I am not really looking for money (except to build...) so much as the human capital to bring the majors forward. You seem like you have the capital for Law and ROTC if you would like.

You seem like you have the capital for Law and ROTC if you would like.
i don't understand
Look at your country's profile. Your country seems very militaristic, which would be good for ROTC and Law, but nothing hints at it being scientific or artsy. In fact, it seems the other way around.
Bob the 3ed
21-09-2003, 02:33
i know that, but do you mean i'll teach it?
No, you just provide the capital, for ex. you send your people over here. :D

i can't spell... sry
still?
i don't know
lol... ok. See, you have a military state. So the number of people that would have the intelligence to run an ROTC or law program is much higher than in mine, which tends to be a pacifist state. Basically if you want to see those programs over here then you need to send those kind of people over here. It keeps us in good diplomatic standing (because I will lose those people if you decide to take them away)
Does that help?
Bob the 3ed
21-09-2003, 02:58
i send people to teach, right? or is there more to it?
that's it. You just send people to teach. Unless you want money, which I don't really have at the moment. Eventually SIIT should turn a profit, and I think fairly soon.
Bob the 3ed
21-09-2003, 03:19
i could send all the $ and not worry
SIIT also does R&D  But so far we don't have enough money to finish the building! If someone would like for SIIT to lean in favor of his or her country when it comes to R&D, a hefty grant might be nice.

200 Servent/Body Guard 'bots
http://www.angelfire.com/art/embil/robots.jpg
Are you tired of having to keep(if you do) paying servants, feeding them, and yet they still exhaust within a few hours? Do you doubt they will be a body guard when you need it the most? Don't worry any more! These robot servants will never give you a reason to complain about service or doubt they will save your life! And, best of all, it's a one-time fee! No feeding, paying them, housing them and yet and the end of the day still tiring! They will never tire! They will never need food, or paying! They can also be programmed to do almost anything else, such as: Entertain, act as a nanny or drive you around! The more of these you have, the better off you are!

800 Jennifer Government, by Max Barry
http://www.maxbarry.com/images/JenniferGovernmentWallpaper.jpg
Welcome to paradise! The world is run by American corporations (except for a few deluded holdouts like the French); taxes are illegal; employees take the last names of the companies they work for; the Police and the NRA are publicly-traded security firms; and the U.S. government only investigates crimes it can bill for. Hack Nike is a Merchandising Officer who discovers an all-new way to sell sneakers. Buy Mitsui is a stockbroker with a death-wish. Billy NRA is finding out that life in a private army isn't all snappy uniforms and code names. And Jennifer Government, a legendary agent with a barcode tattoo, is the consumer watchdog from hell.
i'm nice when it cames to school(not)
Wow! the addition of the construction units should help to speed up the construction of SIIT. I recalculate construction time to be 2 years now. Donated reading material will be used in the curriculum. The Guard bots will make good police officers, as well as help with food and custodial services.
