Hello to all who may be watching this broadcast... Today is a very solemn day; I do not address you to talk about a new military technology developed, or to make fun of Dark Terror. Today, I address you because it has become clearly evident that the events that will take place in the near future will determine the fate of Tisonica and the citizens who reside in it.

At exactly 4:00 pm Eastern Time an AP wire service in Jeff Mcnelly reported that Tisonican Black Op teams assassinated their president, Jeff Mcnelly. In this report, vice president Nell Mcnelly allegedly called for the disarmament of Tisonica. Despite the complete lack of evidence of this and compete denial of involvement in this by the Tisonican high command many countries immediately took hostile actions against us.

It is our belief that members of the NCA staged this assassination, or perhaps even the NCA leader, Fantasan. The early founding of Jeff Mcnelly and immediate joining of the NCA upon founding is very suspicious. And the fact that many nations in the NCA dislike the Free Land of Tisonica and the nation of Fantasan has recently become very hostile to Tisonica because of the countries political stances only adds to the suspiciousness of this act.

Nevertheless, it seems as if many countries are determined to invade Tisonica, despite the lack of any reason. So we must take defensive measures to ensure the safety of our country. The following measures have been taken;

Many naval vessels in international waters are being called closer to home.

Anti-aircraft and Anti-missile defenses are being set up around the country.

Reserve Air superiority aircraft are being mobilized.

A portion of the citizens of Tisonica who had been trained for National Guard services are being mobilized to defend the country. This is the first time in over 200 years Tisonica has done this.

Non-populated parts of the coast are being built up with naval defenses.

Border security has gone up, and Tisonica has considered shutting down its borders.

And finally, Tisonica has eliminated the fee to get a license for a gun; ownership rates are expected to skyrocket.


What we do now will be judged for centuries, we can't know what the future will be, we can't be sure if our decisions are the right ones, but we do know, no matter what, if we don't do anything, we have already lost the war. Thank you for your time, and goodbye.

While our land is not in any position to provide any military support for you, Tisonica, we want you to know that you have the strengths and the hopes of all the people of Thelas Aleksandrov.

The President sends his condolences to Tisonica, but has wired a transmission informing the government that New Genoa cannot send anything but moral support that they may stop the NCA scum in their tracks.

In an international statement the President said:
"We despise the attacks of the NCA upon Tisonica, and we sympathize with their people. We can only hope that the NCA will back down as Tisonica is no immediate danger to their alliance. Seriously, they're so huge, he would be but a fly to them. Furthermore, reports have been sketchy lately and we wish to know what the reasons are behind this war. The true reasons. Perhaps, then, we shall change our stance. But, with the past atrocities committed by the NCA and its members we cannot support any of their hostile actions."

While Agrigento has a relatively large stock pile of nuclear weapons, and practically no other WMDs, no such weapons will be used by Agrigentian Armed forces as they are not part of our Offensive Military Doctrine. In fact the only reason a Nuclear Weapon, or Biological/Chemical weapon for that matter, would be used is when in retaliation.

Your nation itself is safe, and if this war does occur we promise to minimize civilian casaulties. We also assure the world that POW's will be properly treated, as following the Wolfish Convention's guidelines as well as Agrigentian Tradition.

So, targeting these specific planes could do an enormous amount of damage to your military divisions? Frankly, I don't see that as good logistical military strategy.

Supervolcanoes are eruptions and explosions of catastrophic proportions. These types of eruptions are absolutely apocalyptic in scale. It is difficult to imagine an eruption this tremendous. The main factor governing the size of this type of eruption of the amount of magma available. If an enormous amount of magma has accumulated in the crust, then you have the potential for a very , very large eruption.

The exact geological conditions needed to create a vast magma chamber exist in only a very few places on earth, so there are only a few known supervolcanoes in the world. The last one to erupt was Toba 74,000 years ago [Rampino, Self, 2000). No modern human has ever witnessed a supervolcano eruption. Volcanologists are not even sure where all the supervolcanoes are but one that is known is Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone is America's first and most famous National Park. Every year over 3 million tourists visit this stunning wilderness, but beneath its hot springs and lush forests lies a monster of which most of the public is completely unaware [Smith, 1980].

Most people's idea of a volcano is a symmetrical cone and this involves magma coming up, reaching the surface, being extruded either as lava or as explosive eruptions with ash, and these layers of ash and lava gradually accumulate until you're left with a classic cone shape. We volcanologists know this smooth flowing magma contains huge quantities of volcanic gases, like carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Because this magma is so liquid these gases bubble to the surface, easily escaping. There are thousands of these normal volcanoes throughout the world. Around 50 erupt every year, but supervolcanoes are very different in almost every way.

First, they look different. Rather than being volcanic mountains, supervolcanoes form depressions in the ground. Despite never having seen a supervolcano erupt, by studying the surrounding rock scientists have been able to piece together how supervolcanoes are formed. Like normal volcanoes they begin when a column of magma rises from deep within the Earth. Under certain conditions, rather than breaking through the surface, the magma pools and melts the Earth's crust turning the rock itself into more thick magma.

Although it is not clearly understood why, but in the case of supervolcanoes a vast reservoir of molten rock eventually forms. The magma here is so thick and viscous that it traps the volcanic gases building up colossal pressures over thousands of years. When the magma chamber eventually does erupt its blast is hundreds of times more powerful than normal draining the underground reservoir. This causes the roof of this chamber to collapse forming an enormous crater. All supervolcano eruptions form these subsided craters. They are called calderas.


Such is the case with Yellowstone - it is the largest single active system yet discovered.

When Yellowstone goes off again, and it will, it will be a disaster for the United States and eventually, for the whole world. We volcanologists believe it would all begin with the magma chamber becoming unstable. Observations would begin by seeing bigger earthquakes, greater uplifting as magma intrudes and gets nearer and nearer the surface. An earthquake may send a rupture through a brittle layer similar to breaking the lid off a pressure cooker. This would generate sheets of magma, which will perhaps rise up to 30, 40 or 50 kilometers sending gigantic amounts of debris into the atmosphere. Pyroclastic flows would cover the whole region, killing tens of thousands of people in the surrounding area.

The ash carried in the atmosphere and deposited over vast areas of the United States would have devastating effects. A plume of material that goes up into the atmosphere, globally, from the eruption would produce the climatic effects. This would spread worldwide and have a cooling effect that would most likely destroy the growing season on a global scale.

As Dr. Ted Nield, of the Geological Society of London, stated once, “When a supervolcano goes off, it is an order of magnitude greater than a normal eruption. It produces energy equivalent to an impact with a comet or an asteroid.” “You can try diverting an asteroid, but there is nothing at all you can do about a supervolcano.”

The eruption will throw out cubic kilometers of rock, ash, dust, sulfur dioxide and so on into the upper atmosphere, where it will reflect incoming solar radiation, forcing down temperatures on the earth’s surface. It would be the equivalent of a nuclear winter. The effects would last for four or five years with crops failing and the whole ecosystem breaking down.

I still hold strong on my belief that if somebody added up how much you actually spend, you would be 3-4x over your budget.

Regardless of that, it's still underpriced, and doesnt even look physcically possible. Just use normal transports, I'm tired of having to debate in every war, just go by things that are not controversial, it's not like it would matter in the long run.

I know that Tisonica is a good RPer but I know from experience that the attacking nations are, down to the very last country, some of the worst RPers in the game. Do I really want to get myself into something that will turn into a stupid OOC fight? Anyhoo... I would suggest that Tisonica just ignore these losers. Trying to RP with them (and war is type of RP, DT) is pretty much pointless.

I would say that it's perfectly legitimate. It's actually amazing how if you do enough research, you can find some spectacular science articles about advanced technology. UCAV fighters using SCRAMjets for one.

There is more to RPing than "typing out how your generals shaved." I personally generally prefer not to do that as well. However, a detailed description of your military strikes is needed to make a proper war. That is RPing.

SCRAMjets could pretty easily be placed on fighters (in around 10 years). All they need to figure out is how to get the combustion to happen in the windtunnel and some advanced jetfuels (J something I can't remember) would do it (they need to work the specifics out). They estimate that within eight years, small, unmanned planes could be equipped with SCRAMjets. Edolia uses SCRAMjets that don't go nearly as fast as the mach20 ones though. Mostly, that's because it's no fun to have planes that are so powerful but also because there are some realistic concerns about making them go that fast (overheating mainly). However, in general, there's no real reason why SCRAMjets couldn't be used in the relatively near future.

Great Mateo is a new and still quite small nation, but as a fellow member of the RAS, we will do what we can to support Tisonica. In the event of war I will place 10 tank squads, 5 artillery launcher squads, and 10 of my highly trained SpecOps squads under Tisonica's control.

I have no quarrel with people who play slightly less futuristic. I general play present-day +10 years which is what I belive most people play (or something around that). If I was RPing with people who played at say... 2005 levels, I'd just take out the SCRAMjets, making the plane slower. It doesn't really matter to me.

Im mainly 2006 except for scramjet cruise missiles and naval ralguns.. which is 2011.

Actually, it might be good that Tisonica ignored me. Hell be as dead as ever, but he cant go and make anti dark terror coalition #5.

I don't know yet. I will be and I'm sure members of the UNAOTO will be as well. However, the UNAOTO rarely takes military action as an alliance. e like to form coalitions instead. I would suggest starting a new thread when the war actually starts though.

We already have many vacant air basesm where would you like them. And what type of fighters are they? (VTOL, or ones like the F-22 that take up alot of runway).

We do not have any VTOL craft though most of our planes do not require very long runways. The newest ones (which we will be deploying in great numbers) are very small (unmanned) and so do not require very much of a runway at all.

Ok, we have some small bases in the mountains near the pacific coast, and 2 larger bases near the atlantic coast, on the southern side. The rest of the bases are mostly inland. If you need us to construct more coastal ones we can do that.

A trade embargo does absolutely nothing to the NCA as between us we can supply each other and make profits doing so.

It is ashame this can not be settled peacefully. Carpage will of course assist the NCA by engaging and destroying opposition military units should this war actually happen.

As usual we, with we being the military forces of Carpage, will not attack civilian targets. In the case of war, we highly suggest civilians go to designated safe shelters.

What we would like to see is an independant moderator nation step in and try to diffuse this situation. (OOC: If someone does, please tgm the parties involved with the thread heading)
