Battle for Chernobyl
Whittier

Whittier troops and their Ukrainian allies began their assualt on Chernobyl.
The ony battle they've had to fight since Whittier troops arrived in West Urkaine.
Whittier's General had much respect for the enemy commander. Here was a soldier who knew something of honor and was willing to die for it rather than listen to politicians back home.
Too bad he had to die for it.
He ordered his men to begin the attack.
43 artillery shells and 12 M1A1 tanks opened fire on the Polish positions.
The battle had begun.

Polish troops fought bravely but were ill prepared for the huge enemy surrounding them. They had lost 500 men in the battle and another 700 had been valourously wounded in combat. The wounded who could not hold a weapon were moved to the city hospitals.
Though odds were against them, they continued to fight on.

But the men were tired, hungry, some were very ill and they were rapidly running out ammunition.

Whittier and Ukrainian forces begin advancing into the city.
Firing as they advance.
The Smurf Commune collectively objects to this war. We offer pretty flowers to all involved and urge all parties to make love not war.

A single robot with a gaiger counter quietly strolls through the area, listening to the faint beeps, and stopping from time to time to take soil samples. It stopped, stretched, and turned around, ready for its video game break. Then it began to feel the faint rumbling of approaching troops.
As the horizon began to darken, the lone robot dove into the remains of the melted down nuke plant, cowering in fear of the approaching enemies. True, it had plasma beams and such, but it was a single unit that could probably only take out one tank at the most before it was filled with twice its weight in lead. Besides, it owed no allegiance to either side in this conflict. So it sat, and trembled, and waited for the coming storm.
((OOC: just trying to RP something that'll lead up to a little comic relief. Tell me if it's not appreciated. :) ))

The colonel checked the ammo supply.
Damn. They were now out of ammo.
He'd done his job. The best he could.
An ally promised help but didn't show.
He had lost a total 5,800 men to the battle with 12,000 more wounded seriously. The 5,000 that were left had no ammunition to fight with.
He looked up, saw his second in command ordered him over, and ordered the surrender.
You can only fight the fight if you have the tools to fight with. Gdansk had denied them the tools. They had done their best.

Yet, as they surrendered to the allies, he wondered about the fait of his troops. If they would be executed. They were just doing their duty. They had not attacked any civilians while here. Their unit was most respectful toward civilians of all the Poles deployed to West Ukraine. But his own government would have executed them all.
50 troops move in with Stunner Guns...
firing as ready to torture the Ammo-less troops!

Since this unit fought with honor and refused orders to committ genocide and other atrocities, they will be treated with the same respect we give our own soldiers in addition to that guaranteed by International Law.
They will be disarmed, given new clothes and fed.
Then we will interrogate them and let them go home to their families.
