Vethage Settlement, 18 Sept. -- Alcardian United Nations Ambassador Alex Baron, the infamous RPA party member who attracted global attention after declaring the United Nations "trampled the soverign rights of independent nations and should be scaled back intensely," said today he is considering resigning from his post.

Baron, who has served as U.N. Ambassador since former President Arden Rana's death in 1478, said, "It has been very strenuous as of late, doing this job, being away from the family for weeks and months on end. I'm considering spending some time with my wife and children, away from the hustle and bustle of the political scene."

When asked if he was considering the resignation because of his fiery speech against the U.N., Baron vehemently stated, "No, not in the least. I'm not sorry for what I said, nor should I be. The United Nations tramples the individual freedoms of nations, and should never have approved some of the resolutions that came up."

Baron's wife Sylvia was by his side as he held the conference. "I have complete faith in Alex, and always have. He's not a man to make the wrong decisions about anything - that's why President Everdale was so adamant about choosing him for U.N. Ambassador."

President Everdale released a statement one hour after Baron's announcement sent shockwaves through Vethage Settlement. "If Ambassador Baron were to step down, Alcardia would truly lose a great politician," the statement read, "However, I can understand the situation Mr. Baron is in, and would accept his resignation should he choose that course. Mr. Baron will always have a place in our government and in our hearts."

"I wouldn't wait up for the announcement," Baron joked, "I'm not done putting the United Nations in its place!"

<< Imperial Press Release >>

Imperial Decree to all Nations:

The actions taken by Mr. Baron are explainable and valid but as a delegate myself I must attempt to persuade Mr. Baron not to take the actions he is prepared to take. It is his duty to try to deter such ignorent propositions from even being started.

Plus, a UN without him is not a UN at all.

-- Ambassador Baron sits down to his desk as the sun dips behind the hills and reads the press release from The Macabees. Moved enough to respond, he pulls a pen from his pocket. --

"Your views are much appreciated, and it is fantastic to see that my voice is not the lone trail of sibilance in this wide political world. However, any decision that I come to within the next few days will not concern the United Nations. Perhaps that is the problem, that I fail to consider the views of the United Nations in this entire matter. However, I am a father and husband first, an Alcardian second, and an ambassador to my fine nation third. I'm sure you can understand."

)( OOC: Yes, I'm aware that I use a different time scale than most everyone else. Just think of it as being in your time frame. 1483 Alcardian just evens out to whatever time it is in your nation. It's not that hard when you think about it. I don't operate the nation on Earth time, really, because it's just more fun this way. )(
