Vethage Settlement, 18 Sept. -- Alcardian United Nations Ambassador Alex Baron, the infamous RPA party member who attracted global attention after declaring the United Nations "trampled the soverign rights of independent nations and should be scaled back intensely," said today he is considering resigning from his post.
Baron, who has served as U.N. Ambassador since former President Arden Rana's death in 1478, said, "It has been very strenuous as of late, doing this job, being away from the family for weeks and months on end. I'm considering spending some time with my wife and children, away from the hustle and bustle of the political scene."
When asked if he was considering the resignation because of his fiery speech against the U.N., Baron vehemently stated, "No, not in the least. I'm not sorry for what I said, nor should I be. The United Nations tramples the individual freedoms of nations, and should never have approved some of the resolutions that came up."
Baron's wife Sylvia was by his side as he held the conference. "I have complete faith in Alex, and always have. He's not a man to make the wrong decisions about anything - that's why President Everdale was so adamant about choosing him for U.N. Ambassador."
President Everdale released a statement one hour after Baron's announcement sent shockwaves through Vethage Settlement. "If Ambassador Baron were to step down, Alcardia would truly lose a great politician," the statement read, "However, I can understand the situation Mr. Baron is in, and would accept his resignation should he choose that course. Mr. Baron will always have a place in our government and in our hearts."
"I wouldn't wait up for the announcement," Baron joked, "I'm not done putting the United Nations in its place!"
