Russian Forces troops arrested

WestUkraine
19-09-2003, 00:50
The West Ukraine government moved today to arrest all Russian troops on its territory. The move was in response to revelations that Russian Forces was planning to forcefully annex West Ukraine.
Though the tip came from Communist Poland, Polish troops will remain in prison. Until the West Ukraine government can make heads or tails of the situation. Communist Poland accuses RF of lying but WU has decided to investigate whether it is CP that is lying. Or if CP is telling the truth about Russia's intentions.
Meantime, the Russian field commander is being taken to the Ukrainian President's office to answer some very serious questions related to the matter.
West Ukraine has emphasized it is not at war nor hostile with the governments of either Communist Poland or Russian Forces. The imprisonment of their soldiers is only a precautionary move while the investigation is under way. The soldiers will be released and returned to their governments once the investigation is over.

Prime Minister Varde sends a message to the leader of the West Ukraine.

"This is Prime Minister Varde, Prime Minister of Redlenin. I highly suggest you release the troops to homeland. This is not a threat. I do not want a conflict. But I beg you, send them home. The prisoners are being treated well, in accordance with Geneva Convention. They are additionally allowed visits by family members and any foreign ambassadors who wish to check up on their conditions.
However, we cannot release them until we have completed our investigation.
But you are free to check on them if you are concerned about thier treatment.
We have nothing to hide.

We are already in a dilemma with foreign troops on our territory. Your presence will only complicate matters further. You are denied permission to place any your troops on West Ukraine territory.

To the leader of West Ukraine.
I remind you that your body guards are actually polish soldiers.
I think it would be most "unfortunate" if they were to allow "something terrible" to happen to you. Like a "accident". I mean a lot of stuff could happen if they went to the restroom.
Of course, comrade, you could always avoid "accidents" by releasing my soldiers and letting them protect your nation from Russia.
It is my hope that you get my meaning.

Is this a threat?
Damn, caught between two hostile countries.
President: I certainly don't like the idea that Poland is threatening me with "accidents".
Aid: The poles are harboring two international assassins that have already killed the leader of one nation. It may be they may be willing to pay for the assassination of other world leaders including yourself.
Russian Forces on the other hand, at least as far as I know, would never support or condone the assassination of another country's leader no matter how bad their relationship with that nation is.
Simply, Communist Poland is willing to have you assassinated. But Russian Forces is not.
President: Well, like I said, Ukrainians like to avoid accidents.
Release the Polish troops. Then I want the Russians deported immediately. Kill any of them that try to resist.
I want the border with Russia fortified.

We can take you and your delagtes away from here and remove the Polish threat. It is up, comrade. I will leave if you wish..But please..I beg you...Save your country..Save your people..save yourself!"

Polish Military advisor: This a threat to invade. You must take action. If you do, Communist Poland will defend you. If not we cannot be accountable for "accidents".

President: Very well, we will side with Communist Poland. Let your government know we are going to help them.
Polish Military Advisor: You have chosen wisely. It would have been most unfortunate if "accidents" were to happen to you and your people.

After the Polish Military Advisor leaves the room,
the President meets with his advisors. Both he and his cabinet had been handpicked by CommunistPoland.
Neither Communist Poland nor anyone else knows anything about this secret meeting other wise they are godmodding.
Interior Minister: I do not like that guy.
President: Neither do I. Nor do I like the feeling I am getting from Gdansk.
But I am also getting bad feelings about Russian Forces.
Intelligence Secretary: It might be best to...(makes a demonstration of writing notes. Stating that the Polish have the whole Presidential Palace including the room, bugged.)
President: Oh yes. We need to send more troops to help our communist brothers in Poland.
(On paper, we need to see if we can get some new allies that get both Russian Forces and Communist Poland off our backs.)
Defense Minister on paper: It will be hard pressed to do anything. What with all these damned Communist poles running around. And you can be sure we can't take troops off the Russian border because once they find we've deported their men they're going to invade us like with a vengeance.
Outloud: We should propose a treaty of closer brotherhood with our wise Communist Poland brothers.
President outloud: Begin a new draft of people. I want them assisting in the defense of Communist Poland.
Meantime, I am declaring war on Russian Forces.
On paper: Get to work on an a way to keep both nations at bay. We need to reassert ourselves but we're between a rock and a hardplace.
Where did you say those bugs were?
Intelligence Secretary points to the light fixture, the television, the floor, the couch, the desk, and the airconditioning unit.
President on paper: That's alot of bugs. The people in Gdansk sure don't trust their own puppets do they. What with all these Polish military advisors running about and now all these bugs.

"Comrade...It would be wise not to side with Communist Poland. I offer you once more to come with us. We will take you back to a SafeZone. You will be safe with us until you figure this out. Any attempts of attack will be in vein as your location will not be within any range of this area. This is your last chance for freedom. A vehicle waits outside for you. It will leave in 10 minutes..With our without you. You WILL be safe, Comrade. I am not a hurtful person. I give you my word."

Prime Minister Varde sits at his desk and hopes for the best. He has seen to much bloodshed. He wants it to end.

The Whittier ambassador visits Prime Minister Varde in his office:
We have fresh information that West Ukraine is very much willing to jump sides but is being pressured by the tight noose which Communist Ukraine has around its neck.
We believe the declaration of war against Russian Forces and solidarity with Communist Poland may be for show. I got the feeling they are not very comfortable with their puppet status nor how the people in Gdank are treating them.
Whittier is telegramming them to offer protection and alliance if they help us against Communist Poland. We need your government to support this offer. So the President of WestUkraine can justify his switch to his people. Namely, Whittier proposes that the allied forces agree to protect Ukraine from Russian aggression and that we will help them break the chains binding them to Poland.
OOC: No nations other than Whittier and Redlenin know about this meeting. It was top secret.

Varde pours two glasses of Rum. He takes his and downs it.

"My region will protect him. However, I cannot attack Russia. We are allies. This might help. I do not trust Communistpoland. We must do what we must do. I do not like bloodshed..But I will commit troops if needed."

We are in a very tight position at the moment. I can not leave my people. I must stay here with them. If I am to die, then so be it. I will die a patriots death.
But do not worry, I will not invade Russian Forces. Ukrainians are a peaceful people but we will defend our country.
We are most interested in the "art" of cutting puppet strings though. Perhaps you know someone who could assist us.
Also is Whittier a trustworthy nation to meet with?

OOC: Im confused..Im in a meeting with Whitter and WestUkraine? Either way.

IC: Yes. He is. He wishes to help you. We must discuss this. I can gain enough support to remove the Polish from the WestUkraine. As is the region I am. Comrade...You have my support. I trust you. Please trust me.
