A small object falls from the sky over a rural town in the nation of Death of Life. Entering the atmosphere, it bursts into flames and has all the appearences of a shooting star, except for the fact that it is perfectly spherical.
Impact.
The Earth shakes. A little, not much. A car alarm goes off, but is soon silenced. The "metior" hisses, and steam as well as some other "gasses" begin to emerge from the spherical form. Seconds later, the sphere collapses into its base atoms, which are scattered to the wind.
The next morning, people in the area begin to report seeing strange butterfly-like lights. The twenty four hours later, everyone in a thrity mile radius of the "metior" landing site is dead.

For this bioweapon, the name "virus" is misleading because it is not a virus, or bacteria, or anything at all. It is simply something that destroys a person's nervous system. See, the disease is made up of self-replicating nano-machines that are made up of protein and that eat nervous tissue. To disguise themselves from the naked eye, these machines group themselves into what appear to be lymph cells, thus allowing them passage through the body's lymphic system. After a set amount of time, the false lymph cells will be programmed to dissolve themselves, leaving no trace but a slightly higher than avarage amount of protein in the victims' blood. In a best-case scenario, the victims will have their brains reduced to infant intelligence, or even vegitive states. The worst-case scenario for the victims is, of course, death.))
