The dark night, frigid night was not getting any warmer as the young dashing agent John Silver sludged across the snow. He was only a day older than 25, his birthday having passed while he walked through the ice-chilled forest to his destination now in sight.

Silver's best description was tall, dark, and handsome. Although, his face was obscured by a three days growth of beard, eerily giving the man the look of a storybook Pirate.

Silver and the rest of his team of Praetorian Guards, were all dressed in Winter Camouflage and equipped with various weaponry. They were the best of the best, the very "Will of the Praetor", the Praetorian Guard. Ordered on an extremely dangerous mission that would be infinitely beneficial to the Drakonian Imperium.

Ahead the bunker, barely visible between the trees and the snow that lay all around the concrete building in the middle of nowhere. The snow had been cleared from the access road, but a thin layer had fallen in the night, leaving the road a mucky brown-white mess, but Silver was walking through the forest and not on the road.

http://www.cncseries.com/ren/images/game/equipment/vehicles/nodbuggy.jpg

Drifting away down the road was a red armored, Buggy. It's lights going off into the distance. No guards were posted on the outside of the building but Silver had expected as much. In this weather, who would want to be outside. Nearby on the access road was another building a small garage, no doubt from where the Buggy had come and where the Praetorian Guards would ensure their escape.

OOC: Simple Rules to this RP, both John Silver and Taska Jamali cannot be killed since they are characters used in present RPs. This is also a main invite-only RP, to get invited telegraph, the "CoVar Corporation". Also, in reference to time frame, this is shortly before the death of Umun Resi and the creation of the CoVar Corporation. Also, OOC, post are be too extremely limited.

For a second, John Silver's near photographic memory flashed back to the breif.

The officer standing at the front of the room in front of a map of the region controlled by the Brotherhood of Nod. "After making you HALO jump, in here." The officer indictated on the map where the team of elite Praetorian Guard would make a High Altitude Low Open or HALO jump out of the cargo jet.

"You will meet you contact at you DZ," the Officer continues, referring to the Drop Zone where the Guards would be landing. "We except light patrol and a small garrison at the bunker. Reconnaisance by the DIA agent, that will be you contact, suggests that NOD only has a couple of Buggies and Recon Bikes at the site. Still we suspect that there will be patrols in the area from the nearest Hand of NOD. Caution is advised."

Then it was out into the night and where he was now. Ahead of him the form of the Drakonian Intelligence Agency (DIA) contact walked forward in the deep snow. Behind Silver his team pulled forward. Silver shivered the freezing wind cutting through his thick winter gear for a second. Slowly the group of Praetorian Guards and their DIA guide advanced.

The Brotherhood base S-26, located in the Himalaya, Nepal, was a combination of a small training facility for new Black Hand agents and a research facility for nuclear research, although the Brotherhood's interest in nuclear weapons had rapidly declined after Tiberium had been succesfully used as weapons of mass destruction. At the moment, the base was rather quiet with only some 500 troops stationed there to guard the outpost and the research centre and to train the new Black Hand agents. The new agents made up 200 of the total number of troops stationed there and were usually not used for standard tasks as guarding things or keeping order in nearby towns (who weren't there much really), although they would certainly hold their ground after one year of military training, four years of military service, and almost two years of Black Hand training so far. In total, the outpost had 20 Buggies and 15 Recon Bikes at their disposal, and various radio- and satelliteconnections with a larger base some 150 km. to the west.

The team advanced on the outer perimeter bunker, which was apparently lightly guarded. Their plan was to gain entry to the bunker, acquire NOD uniforms and then move into the interior of the base. From there it would simply be a matter of gain access to the central computer and downloading the research.

It all sounded easy, but recon had been light and apparently conveyed incorrect data. Still they were the best of the best that Drakonia had to offer.

http://invisionfree.com:54/118/74/upload/p19.jpg

The team spread out, taking covering fire positions out side the perimeter bunker. Off in the distance, a hand clutched up at the sky holding in it a globe. It stretched from the NOD barrack, called appropriately the Hand of NOD. As two snipers took their positions, training their sights on the doors into the bunk, Silver and two other Praetorians crawled forward. The remainer of the team (5 others) and the Drakonian Intelligence Agent took cover and prepared for a quick shoot out.

Silver crawled to the door of the bunker avoiding the security camera. Training his gun on the door he drew his cattle prod from his pack. He intended to stun the first NOD soldier to come out. Seeing that the others were in position he knocked on the door and waited....

A security guard walked towards the door, responding to the knocking of Silver, his rifle ready. All patrols had been recalled because of the storm that was approaching, so who could this be? Apparently he managed to reach the door without me noticing, but that happens sometimes when I'm not paying attention.... Still, he had a strange feeling about this. He opened the (rather large) door and peered outside...

Silver dove his cattle prod into the NOD soldier's neck. The man convulsed painfully, his finger jumping down on the trigger from the burst of electricity travelling through him. There was a quick burst of gunfire and then the body dropped dead in the doorway. Silver stuck his head inside scanning the area, hopefully the sound had been lost in the winter night. Behind him his team advanced, they had gained entry to the bunker.

Fortunately for the infiltrators, the only enemy within hearing distance of the gunfire was the guard whose body was now lying on the ground, as the storm began, covering the earth with snow. The base was deemed too small, too unimportant by High Command to have a copy of CABAL running the security and communications, meaning no AI's picked up the gunfire either. The nearest CABAL-incarnation was in the main base in this region, 150 km. to the west, near Kathmandu, Nepal.

However, while all patrols had ceased because of the approaching storm, this also meant that all soldiers were now inside the barracks of the base...

Silver and another Praetorian moved into the bunker, causatiously searching as the first burst of snow came down. His gun was ready. They were looking for where the small contingent of NOD soldiers in the bunker would be sleeping. Only a few would have sleeping quarters in the bunker, but at least one would be an officer and the sleeping quarters would be where the uniforms they needed would be stored.

A couple of Silver's team moved in and dragged the body out into the snow, where they promptly stripped it of it's uniform, weapons, and equipment. They then buried partially in snow, with the first of the blizzard now obscuring their vision the body would be lost in the snow within minutes. They rushed inside with the rest of the team, the equipment, uniform, and gear from the dead soldier with them.

Meanwhile, Silver and a couple of other Praetorians were searching the bunker. Silenced-Submachine Gun in his hands and the cattle prod at his waste. Sticking his head into a room he saw another NOD soldier sitting in a chair along the wall to the door. The room looked like a small armory or storage area, weapons were hung along the wall and crates and boxes were stacked against the wall.

Taking the cattle prod from his belt Silver, enter the room and stabbed it at the NOD Soldier resting in the chair.

A Black Hand team, consisting of 5 well-trained agents, watched the display of a small device, on which the exact position of the Praetorians was displayed as they moved.

"They're going into the secondary armoury. Shouldn't we stop them now?" one agent asked.

"Yeah. We're going in. Take positions in the room adjacent to the armoury, it only has one exit for safety reasons. Try not to hurt our informer." the leader answered. "And try to keep the rest alive as well, orders from Kane."

The group went carefully to the room the Praetorians just moved through on their way to the armoury.

The NOD soldier slumped dead in the chair, his body jumped involuntarily from the electric shock that had killed him. Silver took a quick look through the room, before exiting a waiting at the door.

http://www.tiberiumsun.com/renegade/screenshots/images/thumbs/hires002copy.jpg

A couple members of his team entered the room and stripped the dead soldier of his uniform and equipment, in a few seconds one emerged appearing to be one in the service of Kane.

Down the hallway another of his team was also dressed in the uniform of dead Brotherhood cannonfodder. The rest of the team was spread out. Two other Praetorians with the apparent NOD soldier were the rearguard in the hallway, three men searching the armory with the other apparent soldier of the Brotherhood and now Silver who entered and moved to the other door in the room, another two in the hallway searching ahead, and finally one Praetorian in with the DIA agent waiting outside the doorway to the armory. They were spread out, but they were ready.

Silver stood outside the door, a little alarm going off in his head. Something was wrong, in fact, something had seen wrong from the beginning of the mission. He couldn't place it, but he knew something was off. Putting aside his concerns, Silver forced himself to continue.

There was a slight crackle on the internal radio, "Next Door in Hallway, marked 'Quarters B1'," the scout informed Silver, waiting for a go. Silver motioned for the other Praetorians and the DIA agent to move up to him. They did and he prepared to open the door, which led from the armory to the same room the scout was standing outside of.

"Go," Silver ordered and the Praetorians burst into the room from both doors. At the other door the scout, dove for cover as the Praetorian backing him up was took to shells in the throat. The man fell to the ground, gasping as his chest spasmed. Blood was everywhere around the man, as he slowly suffocated and drowned in his own blood.

Silver, too took cover as the Praetorian ahead of him took several hits to the chest and was thrown backwards. He wasn't dead, his kevlar vest having saved him, but he was dazed. Silver fired a spread of bullets from his silenced submachine gun and drew his long knife from his boot.

The other three Praetorians burst into the room, someone yelling, "Ambush!" All hell had just broken loose....
Drakonian Imperium
23-09-2003, 19:56
The Knife raised as Silver prepared to throw it into one of the Black Hand Operatives. As Silver thrust it forward, he was struck by the DIA Agent as the Intelligence Operative dove for cover. The Knife missed sticking itself into the wall, leaving Silver and the DIA Agent sprawled on the ground.

Across the room the Scout firing away dove backwards out the door and rolled behind the frame to get to cover. He continued to fire into the room quickly popping out from his cover in the hallway, firing, and then disappearing again.

http://www.cncseries.com/ren/images/game/characters/gdi.jpg

From where Silver was now sprawled another Praetorian burst into the room. He held in his hand a Mini-Gun, firing it off in the direction of the Black Hand, the Praetorian took two shots into his leg and another one straight through his head. He fell to the ground a puddle of blood spreading around his body.

They were being slaughtered. Unprepared for the apparent ambush, already two men were dead and another three stunned. Only two more were firing back at the Black Hand and so far the Black Hand had taken no causalties. No doubt in seconds, more NOD soldiers would be converging on their location.

Another Praetorian rattled away at the NOD Black Hand agents from the doorway behind Silver. He fired away emptying the clip on his Silenced-Submachine Gun. From behind him a NOD Soldier appeared and pull the Praetorian back out of the doorway. There was a thund along the wall and then the NOD Soldier calmly entered the room again.

"Stop shooting," he ordered the Black Hand, but they didn't listen. Instead the NOD Soldier was riddled with bullets. He fell to the ground. The Black Hand had not been fooled by the disguised Praetorian Guard.

The Praetorian with the Submachine Gun was again in the doorway firing, having reloaded his gun during his "fight" with the NOD Soldier. He opened up again on the Black Hand only to retreat out of the door when he was grazed in the arm by a bullet.

Silver struggled into a crouch preparing to retreat. "Abort," he ordered and made a dive for the door. A heavy wieght hit him mid-jump, slamming him against the ground. Silver drew his Cattle Prod planning to stab his attacker, only to have it jabbed into his gut.

The pain was extruciating, his entire body convulsed. There was a stream of pain from his attack, who Silver felt pull away. All of Silver's attention was shattered in fuzz. He couldn't think straight. His eyes wouldn't focus. He tried to focus on escaping, but all he could think about was how quiet it had suddenly become.

Silver rose to his feet only to stumble and fall on the body of one of the dead Praetorians. His mind lost cohesion and collapsed among the dead and unconcious Praetorians Guards. Those who had not escaped the massacre. There was a flutter of thought, These were his men, and then everything simply went black....

"All targets down, hold your fire" the Black Hand leader ordered, entering the room. "Any casualties?"

"Jake here has been hit in the shoulder, he needs medical attention."

"Call for medics and have him taken to the hospital. Search those intruders. At least two should be alive."

"Yes sir."

The team's leader, Patrick o'Brien, answered a radio message, then turned to the team.

"Apparently a group of them escaped, we're going after them now. The base personnel will clean this room and deal with any survivors. Two buggies are at our disposal at the garage."

A few regular soldiers entered the room and dragged those alive out to the guarded area of the base's medical facility, as the remaining four Black Hand agents took two buggies and began the search for the escapees.

Silver, the DIA Agent and another Praetorian were captured, with at three other Praetorian mere bloody corpse the mission had been shot to hell in one fell ambush. The mission was a failure. The thoughts dashed through the mind of Michael "Scout" Whitewolf. Now he was in command.

Michael Whitewolf (or Scout as his fellow Praetorians called him) was a thin muscular tanned Cherokee Indian. His long raven brown hair pulled back and tied together flowed out from under the white combat helmet as he surveyed the situation. They had escaped the Bunker and were now rushing back to the Drop Zone, the blizzard covering their retreat.

As snow blasted around him, Whitewolf kept his team close together. For a second he lost sight of the Praetorian who was still disquised in the uniform of a NOD Soldier. There had been no time for him to change back to his Drakonian Military Winter Gear, nor would there be.

"Call High Mountain," Whitewolf ordered the Praetorian with the long-range communications gear. "Tell them what's happened. We'll need a rescue team out here. They'll torchure anyone who survived the massacre."

And then they trudged on into the blizzard.

The call had come in and then they were dispatched. The lone droning of the cargo plane, as it drifted over the high mountains of Nepal, could be heard not at by those miles below. But inside it was as loud as a thunderstorm. The team of DIA Operative prepared for the HALO (High-Altitude Low Open) jump that would bring them down to the blizzard swept ground below.

http://www.military.ie/images/halo_jumper_small.jpg

Leading the team was Taska Jamali, a former Naval Marine, daughter of two decorated Drakonian Naval Officers. Standing in the doorway of the cargo plane she prepared to make the jump. And then the jump light went of and with a signal to the rest of her team she bailed out into the sky, many miles above the earth.

http://www.sealphotos.com/images/index.2.jpg

HALO jumps are extremely dangerous and all of the rescue team knew that as they sped down toward the earth at terminal velocity. They shot down through the storm clouds falling alongside the terrendial snow. Frequent checks were made of their altometers in those heart pounding seconds and as they neared the ground shoots were pulled.

http://www.angelfire.com/super/22ndsas/halo.jpg

Unfortunately, not all of them made it. Speeding down and unable to see the others in the milky white flurry one of the DIA Operatives pulled his shoot to find that it would not open. The ground shot up to meet him, before he could even realize what had happened.

*The team landed safely... minus one, and Taska unhooked herself from her chute, motioning the rest of the team to follow her. Stashing the chutes in the bushes they made their way to where the one member of the team had fallen. Crouching down next to the man she kept the hardened expression on her face. Inside she was nearly crying over the man she'd worked with and helped train herself. It was pointless to check, he was dead, and it was obvious. With a sigh she motioned silently for two others to drag him into the bushes. Her training kicked in as she stood back up. The team knew what to do. Take his tags, hide the body, cover the blood in the snow quickly, and move on. No time right now, none at all to mourn. They'd come back later and retrive him if they had time, but she doubted it. One of the men handed her the other man's tags, she pocketed them and adjusted her coat a bit. Pulling off her helmet her blonde hair fell around her face, and she pulled the hood up on her coat. Addressing the others only loud enough to be heard over the storm, she kept her instructions short. They knew their job*

We need ta 'ead out towards tha base. You boys know what ta do. We gotta find tha survivors an' git out quick... we shouldn' be too far from where Whitewolf and 'is men are.

*She signaled her man with the comunications gear to start trying to make contact now that they were on the ground. Glancing around she frowned. This snow was making it hard to even figure out what way was up. Pulling out a compass she thought things over, and they headed off in the direction they had been told to go. They had to find that base quickly*
Drakonian Imperium

Michael Whitewolf and his team trudged deeper into the snow covered terrain. It seemed to be white everywhere. White from the blowing blizzard that scattered snow throughout the air, and white from the snow that was almost knee deep around the Praetorian Guard team. They move blind in the direction their compass directed. It could only be hoped that the snow would slow a search the Brotherhood made of the area.

There was a crackle on one of the radios and then the voice of one of DIA Operatives could be heard. "Sir," one of the Praetorians called to Whitewolf. "I've got contact with the DIA team."

Whitewolf brightened from his low mood. "Tell them we are about a click south of the LZ," he ordered, referring to the Drop Zone or Landing Zone, as was a common military acronym.

OOC: I forgot to tell you, I'm leaving team number up to you. Take in mind this is DIA team (therefore civilian) and the other team is Praetorian Guard (therefore military), so they need not be the same or even close.

*The man on the comunications device shook his head a bit, reciving the message. Luckly his father had been x-millitary (retired of course) so he understood most of the millitary jargen. Grinning he jogged up next to Taska and relayed the message. She simply nodded, and they changed direction just slightly to meet up with the remander of the other team. The communications man sent word that they were on their way.*

*The trek through the blizzard was almost unbareable. It took them much longer then it should have to find the Drop Zone, and slightly longer to head south from there. By the time they spotted the other team Taska was mentaly kicking herself for not wearing an extra layer. Waving in the direction of Micheal's group, Taska jogged in their direction, the rest of her team following behind her. Her team consisted of 6 members normaly, unfortunately they were down to five now. When she spoke her accent was thick, almost sounding like a mix of Caribbean and Jersy. Oddly enough, it didn't sound to bad coming from her lips.*

Micheal Whitewolf... *she nodded firmly in his direction* What exactly do we 'ave on our 'ands 'ere?

*Her arms crossed over her chest, the others standing behind her, looking around the area. Taska was known for her unconventional methods of dealing with problems. The thing was, once people started realizing they got results, they stopped moaning about it. Her sharp eyes flickered over what was left of Whitewolf's group... hmmm... not a good sign*

Whitewolf looked hagard. "Three Praetorians killed. Silver, another Praetorian, and your agent, captured," he informed her. "Expecting NOD search parties out looking for us."

The snow continued to beat down, making it hard to hear anything far off, but for a second Whitewolf thought he heard something. He listened, but the sound didn't repeat itself.

"They ambushed us," Whitewolf continued, his voice relaying the cold facts. "They new we were there and they knew we were coming."

And then he heard it again. The low almost inaudible whine of an engine. The sound trailed off, but Michael "Scout" Whitewolf knew he had heard it. A NOD Buggy was near, probably hunting for them.

"Buggy," Whitewolf yelled to everyone. "We've got to get out of here." The remains of his team spread out readying themselves for a fight.

I need that buggy Whitwolf. Its gonna be our best bet tah get inta that damn base.

*Taking a few steps back she pulled her hood more around her face. Of course everyone in her team, including herself, were dressed in white from head to toe. The team readied weapons, and stayed down*

Try not tah mess it up too much... I need it lookin' its best.

*her eyes darted to the one man still "in diguise"*

Whitewolf motioned to the disguised Praetorian. The man nodded and then Whitewolf ordered his team to take cover. Everyone waited tensely for the Buggy to arrive.

John Silver awoke, suddenly. Pain racked his body. It seemed as if every muscle was crying out for an end to the suffering, but it would not end. He was lucky the cattle prod had not killed him, but that did not stop the pain and if anything just made it worse.

Slowly his mind detached itself from the pain, drawing it attention to the thing that had awaken it. The air was full of the retreated gut-wrenching cries of a man being tortured endlessly. It seemed only to grow quiet for the second it took the man to breath and then the cries continued.

Silver mind filter the noise back into the background as he carefully opened his eyes and surveyed the area of his imprisonment. It was a dark, dank, and small cell. Fill only with two bunks, a toilet, and more grime then was imaginable. Silver was on the bottom bunk, thrown unceremoniously by some Soldier of NOD.

There was a thump as something dropped from the bunk above where Silver lay. The other man looked down on him. "Your conscientious," the DIA Agent announced more loudly than Silver would have liked.

"Quiet," Silver responded gruffly. He slowly lifted his head to get a better view of his surrounding and was given a raging migraine for his trouble. "Was anyone else capture," he whispered, forcing himself into a sitting position as his body responded with more pain.

His answer came in the sound of a pained scream, this one much louder, than the others that had been filling the air.

"Yes," the DIA Agent responded solemnly, and they both knew who was doing the screaming.

They listened for a second, hearing everything go eerily quiet. Apparently the tortured soul had either lapsed into unconsciousness or worse. Silver waited. They would be coming for him soon, he knew.

"What's that?" the gunner of one of the buggies said.

"Looks like a dead grunt" the driver replied.

"Report to the base, they'll send someone to get him. Or not. We have more important things to do right now."

"OK."

"Special agent Silver, Drakonian special forces, codenumber 155346? Please come with us." a small man with a Hitler-like mustache said to Silver. It wasn't really a question, the next moment Silver was dragged on his feet by two Black Hand guards and escorted out of his cell.

"You're going to Interrogation", the man continued. "This was just the, ehm, groundwork. If you're anything smart, you'll tell us everything we want to know voluntarily. The Brotherhood has it's methods in extracting information from unwilling individuals, we'll get it out of you anyway."

"Maybe, they'll be merciful," the DIA Agent called after Silver. Shutting up after a look from the Interogator was sent his way. The looks on the faces of his captors did not look 'merciful' to Silver.

Can you get a good shot on the driver from here?

*A crackling voice came over the line*

sure can ma'am.... hold on

*She hadn't wanted to do things this way, but now she had no choice. Her sniper took aim from his spot behind a snow drift, and a moment later he took the shot. The silenced weapon was deadly in the man's hands, and Taska knew it as her man aimed for the driver. Each team member had been chosen for differant reasons. Taska unholstered her two hand guns, and whistled. It was time to say "screw it" and just jump the buggy. The rest of her team came out of hiding (except the sniper) and they headed for the still moving buggy*

The driver of the second buggy immediately knew something was wrong when he saw the driver of the first buggy dropping out of his buggy, dead, and he immediately reported to the base. "Man down, we're under attack! Send immediate reinforcements!" Then he transmitted his coordinates to the base.

The gunner of the first buggy managed to take over the steer from the now-dead driver and drove away from where he thought the attack came from for a moment to get himself installed. Operating the gun while driving was tricky, but he didn't really had a choice. The two buggies headed towards the attackers, their machine guns ready.

The communications officers in the base, after receiving the call for aid from the buggies, immediately dispatched a team to the coordinates given by the Black Hand operative. Two Apache's were being readied, and a Chinook with ten additional Black Hand troops prepared for battle. Estimated arrival at the site: six minutes.

Silver tried to clear his head as he was dragged along, but for all head did it was still fried from the original shock of the cattle prod. He wondered if it had hurt him more than he had original thought possible.

A bump jarred him from his analysis and Silver looked up to the Interogator who had not replied to his earlier comment about his serial number. Must get 'I will never talk' a lot around here, Silver decided.

As a part of the pain and fog cleared Silver considered the Interogator's knowledge. In fact, the man had got the first six digits of Silver's Military Serial Number correct, which was surprising considering that Silver was part of the Special Operation's Branch of the Praetorian Guard.

How did he know so much, Silver wondered. Had the other Guardsmen talked? It was unthinkable, they were the best Drakonia had to offer. It was also a bit terrifying. Could the Interogators of NOD be that effective? Silver certainly hoped not, but feared it was true.

OOC: Umm...BUMP!
