That's no cruise missle! That is a multi-bomblet dispenser used for bombing ground targets, particularly those targets that are lined up in a straight line.
During flight, it pops open and the mini bomblets rain-down on the target.

WI: its a RL weapon similar to the Apache runway denial weapon but very different usage.
15-09-2003, 19:57

I HAVE FIRED THE DAMN THINGS!!!!

It is a cruise missile until it reaches the target

AND NO, I AMNT BREAKING COPYRIGHT IN RL (its copyrighted by the photo taker  ) AND AM ENTITLED TO SELL IT!!!

And fine, I will use a different photo.

UE - if you think you have a case - try to make it, but you're initial post is a bit harsh don't you think?

Wolfish:

you're right sorry.

I belive that using exactly the same pic, or one taken at a slightly different angle is not on. Epecially when it is intentional as FC bought the originals and found the pictures using my thread.

These photos are not public since the thing is not a common weapon nor is it officially in service. I repspectfully request that Freedom Country reomves the piscture and the post itslef until a complelty different image is found.

I've actually been using Storm Shadows for months now i just haven't sold any.
And belive me to anyone in the UK who has watched anything about the latest war in iraq and has the slightest interest the storm shadow is well known. 27 (the MOD keep changing the exact figures) or more of them have been used in anger

FC if you want different pics i think there are soek nice ones on the MBDA webby, they might not be direct linkable but save them and then edit them a bit and upload them to your webspace, or i could do some scans from AFM.
16-09-2003, 08:57
Thanks

And have you seen some of them being fired?

They are not very secret, you know.

They were showing them off at a well known public airshow for god sake.

I am gonna put up an ASRAAM soon.

Not yet but airforce monthly has had lots and lots of pictures, i haven't been able to make an airshow this year (i was thinking of yeovilton but it's my sisters 18th birthday and she is having her party on the day and my parents away so i have to look after her. BAH.

Anyway i sell the asraam but i already have a far better homemade version.
See if you can find info on the german IRIS-T (which can finally deal with the whole Russian short rnage sams being claimed to be better than AIM-9X and ASRAAM, of course there is still python 4 to think about...)
16-09-2003, 10:46
Im telling you now, when you actually launch one of those things..... whoa!!!!

The annoying thing is the weight gets on your nerves.

And next time you go to an airshow, look out for the mad guy in the Tornado F3  .

I am on a years leave right now, but I flew at the Leuchars airshow.

They had a Storm Shadow in a display. You caould actually touch it if you wanted.

And Airforce Monthly is full of crap, all about decent american planes
