The R-8 Dropship [In Flight]
Equipped with the revolutionary Directionally Vectored Thrusters(C) (D.V.T) The R-8 Requires no runway or previously constructed landing ports, meaning it is capable of landings prior to the establishment of dedicated facilities. The R-8 is equally at home landing troops into a blazing warzone as it is transporting reserves to a quiet research station.

The R-8 is capable of transporting up to Sixty fully armed and equipped soldiers within its Transport bay, as well as being able to hold over fifty tonnes of additional cargo such as additional weapons, rations & anything else a regiment might require.

Flexibility is the name of the game concerning the R-8, and it once again does not fail to deliver- The Transport Module is fully interchangable. Allowing the R-8 to function as-

The R-8 is also more than capable of protecting itself. The rudimentrary weapons package includes autofed twin linked chin mounted Auto-cannons, and a heavier gauge twin artillery cannon mounted on the foredeck.

Again, where flexibility is needed the package can be upgraded.
At the time of going to press the R-8 is avalible in only the Military class, however eventually it is hoped to be made avalible as-
R-8A- A civillian model. A trusted and reliable transport, ideal for use away from established trade lanes, and difficult to reach areas [E.g Maintanance of Mining Facilities]
R-8B- Black Ops. The R-8B will expand on the Original R-8. By reducing the Transport capacity to around thirty, the extra room created is used to house the latest in stealth technology. Ablative Radar diffusers and various other countermeasures render the R-8B the ideal stealth Transport.
Weaponry aboard the R-8B is beefed up to provide against the unexpected,.
The R-8 Is capable of Orbital flight, and of functioning in high-altitude enviroments, making operation from a Mothership to planetfall a tantalising prospect.
However, the R-8 lacks long-term Life Support systems, and without esxtensive modfications is not advisable as a space based vessel.
To us here at Khandras-Yutai, the safety of all who use our products is of paramount importance. Thats why the R-8 comes equipped with an Emergency Escape hatch in addition to the primary exit at the rear. The Emergency exit can also act as an airlock, and is equipped with pressure suits- increasing the survivability of passengers, even within the cold void of space.
