In a recent announcement, the C in C's for both the Googlewooper Defence Agency and the Googlewooper Space Agency have announced the start of the design stages for a new joint project.

The only details made available so far are that the project is a new concept CONVENTIONAL weapon delivery system and that the projects code name from this point forward is to be 'Daedalus’.

The subsequent weapon being developed is to be code named ‘Icarus’.

OOC:

This post is only meant as a future reference for any accusations of GODMODDING and will be used as a forum to update the progress of the project.

And yes, I know some of the more educated (especially in Greek history and mythology) among you will be able to guess straight away what this new weapon is due to the obvious clues scattered throughout this entire post, but please don’t spread it around, it takes away some of the fun of designing it.

Today the usually quiet of the Great Googlewooper Desert was disturbed today as the sounds of blastoff echoed from the Hephaestus (Greek god of fire) Space Centre as the GSA’s newest orbiter, the X-1 or ‘Hermes’ (Greek messenger to the Gods), blasted into space carrying the first of the new weapons.

As only a few suspected, the project is a High orbit satellite, nicknamed ‘Zeus’ (Well duh, chucked lighting bolts) with the ability to launch ‘Icarus’ (Man from Greek mythology who fell from the sky after flying out of prison) cruise missiles, designed to safely penetrate the Earth’s atmosphere and then strike targets with pinpoint accuracy. This with the added ability to be fully reloaded within a few days of an X-1 launch means that Googlewoop now has the ability to strike anywhere on the planet with a weapon literally no anti-missile system can counter. However Googlewoop’s value of peace and its democratic processes of course will mean that this weapon will only be used in dire situations and only on those who ‘deserve it’.

The X-2 or ‘Artemis’ (Greek God of the hunt) is also only just finishing construction and has its cargo bay pressurised and fitted with two benches of five seats each to carry a new breed of soldier. The Googlewooper Air-force, Navy and Infantry divisions have jointly trained one Regiment (100 men) to man ten X-3s. These men and their equipment are trained and designed to be deployed in the newest battlefield, space. Each soldier and in turn platoon have similar roles to that of a regular infantry division with five troopers, sniper, rapid suit repair engineer (closest thing to a medic – also has medical training for treatment in artificial atmosphere of space plane), long distance radio trooper (able to contact earth without the aid of a parent vehicle), heavy trooper and explosive projectiles trooper. At the present they are being trained in the interception of satellites and in rare cases launch vehicles. In the future however this arena may truly become a battleground and they are being trained as best they can to counter enemy ‘space troopers’

In other news, a third shuttle the X-3, ‘Selene’ (Greek god of the moon), is being developed for a first Googlewooper landing on the moon.
