Trucial States starts rearmament

13-09-2003, 17:04
The Commonwealth of The Trucial States has announced a major military build up surpassing even that of 1914 on the eve of the great war. Sadly it seems apparent that war is again the only option for our nation and we will rise to this challenge effectively.

Conscription will soon begin again as new weapons and equipment arrives from Walmington-on-Sea.

As well as new aircraft and armour being imported the government has announced a 'serious effort' in indigenously manufacturing war supplies for the first time in hsitory.

New Projects

-Construction of four new 'Flower' clss corvettes to be built exactly the same as the British design and the other types of this class in service with the Trucial Navy.

A possible design of the proposed aircraft.

Many other projects are also commencing, such as improving airfields for larger planes, building defensive positions near the border and improving telecmmunications. Also a major plan has been released to improve railways between major cities.

The government of Walmington on Sea (the one with the hyphons, sadly, is a pre-existing nation with which we have no affiliation) congratulates The Trucial States on their brave effort to stand on their own two feet in the middle east.

(Again with the pedantry ;) )

OOC:oh sorry about the hyphons, BTW do you think this is acceptable bearing nin mind we don't want to appear too advanced?

ooc:I think so. It's hardly Tiger tanks and battleships, eh? I doubt anyone can complain- the corvettes are really defensive weapons, and won't constitute a significant power shift in the Med. The bombers, as you asy, might be a bit of a stretch, but it's something to aim for over time, and after receiving our light bombers you've a base to begin research from, I suppose.

OOC; Just a question, is the US playing a similar role to Britain, ie: an NPC? Or are we just pretending they didnt join in?

I'm not 100% sure how involved they'll be.. at the moment they're vaguely considered to exist, but to have remained isolationist as in the early C20th, or perhaps more extremely so. Iansisle has apparently frosty relations with them, over his nation's previous refusal to cut off oil supplies to Japan. America's reluctance to allow Iansisle access to the Panama canal was causing problems, and worsening Walmington's opinion of the States, but that may have been resolved by Japan's recent sabre rattling against the Iansisle/WoS/Calarcan allies, which has resulted in Iansisle's toughening position against them, meeting with American approval.

Yeah, so they're sat there, acting as a bit of a barrier but with no single player control. I think it works for most of us?

Check GLACORP, we have a variety of passive defences as well as bio/chemical weapons. IM afraid most of the other things in my store are future tech. But we arent datist, like SOME people.
