I'll assume this is not serious then, correct?
Benderland

Yes, it's serious. Whether this effects you or not is up to you.

It depends where you obtained it. If you recieved it within our borders, and someone profited off of it, the person you gave the money to would be fined and your money returned. Repeat offenders are jailed.

Benderland

Not all clothes are music related. And yes, art is free.
11-09-2003, 20:02
And so would every other technology. This is a ludicrous legislation you have passed.
Benderland
11-09-2003, 20:03
Why would every other technology be free?
11-09-2003, 20:05
Because it is an art-form.

We don't consider a tank to be free just because some weirdo is obsessed with it. Same with cars, buildings, etc.

We're a very logical and systematic society, seeing how we are robots. Art is what we consider expressions of individuality. And as we see it, if it serves a practical function (as in helping achieve something, not leisure), it's not art.

In a drastic action today, King Bender has announced that the sale of musical albums, musical-related clothing, sheet music, and anything that expresses music within the borders of Benderland, be it domestic or imported, is illegal. Much to the confusion of much of the populace, he followed that statement by declaring that anyone may distribute anything music related without fear of being charged with any penalties. When asked to clarify, the King himself had this to say:

"Music is an art form. So why are we putting prices on art? Music is not about money, it is about someone expressing themself. There's too many "musicians" these days that are in it for the money. They don't even write their own songs! While much of the hard-working musicians who actually put effort into their compositions go unnoticed, due to their image, or unwillingness to sign with a big recording company. For example, I'm sure none of you knew that I'm taking up guitar! Listen!"

The King then proceeded to "play" an acoustic guitar while attempting to sing. There were no surviors.
There are unconfirmed rumors that the King later had the guitar executed for 'crimes against the crown'
Benderland

Those rumors were later dismissed, upon viewing footage of the interview which clearly shows the King smashing his guitar and making cheering noises after his long solo.

The tape was obtained by the tabloids and is now going up for bid.

What about professional musicians? do they go bankrupt? do you still have to pay for concert tickets and posters and stuff? and what about composers like john williams? if he doesn't get paid for his music, then he's got no reason to do str wars, and the olympics, and indiana jones and all of em.

or are you simply going to drive all musicians out of benderland and try to get them to send you their music for free? :)

this idea is flawed. Your economy will crash within the next year, badly.

With this news, Tahar Joblissan music exportation has immediately quadrupled in volume to Benderland, anticipating reductions by other foreign traders.

"There's no time like the present to cash in on market share and edge out those profiteering capitalist entrepreneurs," declared CD shipper Fred G. George Jr. "Smell that? That's the pheromenal panic-scent of capitalist pigdogs on the run."

Further increases in exportation may be down the road, depending on how events play out in Benderland.

Well it depends what you mean by "professional musicians". If you're talking about the ones on MTV, they're not professional. They don't deserve to be making money.

As far as composers such as John Williams go, music sales for the purpose of promoting a product is not illegal. I should've clarified that. Businesses may purchase music for the sake of advertizing, and so may film crews, etc. But the individual can obtain music for free, provided he's not giving it to a business, movie, etc.

We track the transfer of any goods anywhere. Even if you exchange a muffin for a quarter on a street corner, we know. And we can tell if a business is using an individual to obtain music.

rage against the machine, mutha f-----!

[/edit] i should clarify that statement. It was intended as a pun, or play on words. rage against the machine is a musical group (as many may know) and also a fight against a higher power... in this case the corrupt government of Benderland that has decided to ban all music. dirty bastard.

I've banned the sale of music. You can still distribute it for free.

you didn't answer my question. If musicians make no money, then there won't be any music, except by those who make music merely as a hobby. No multi-million dollar soundtracks to a movie, that makes movies boring. Really boring, so boring no one will go to see them anymore. Theatres start only playing old movies, and eventually, go out of business because people like their old DVDs better. After 5 years, your people will start rioting, demanding to know why they haven't heard anything new in the last half a decade, and why they are trying to bring back the frikkin macarena. And then you reply "I just thought it should be free!!! weee!" wrong. Entertainment keeps national morale up, and keeps them sane.

that is outrageous. You might have well banned music all together. there is no way that musicians and music publishers can continue to produce their product if they cannot sell it. Sure there are some people who can and will donate large sums of money, but that is not enough to keep the music industry alive and running.

Why don't you go ahead and make all medical care free! Say good bye to your doctors.

so far then, 3 of your top-making jobs are gone, poof. Lawyers give up cuz the law is crazy, so there is 4.

Days after the law was passed, King Bender repealed it, appeasing to whiners everywhere.

"You people are no fun!" he said, then promptly slammed the palace doors in the reporters' faces.

There were no survivors.

As a formal apology of acting on personal opinion, King Bender has decided to throw a kegger on the palace grounds. Drinks are free.

There will be no sur...
*news reporter is promptly knocked out by blunt object*
*someone comes in and drags him off the set, while another asks "Who hired that guy anyways?"*
