A New Universe
Space was calm. It was serene. It was space.
Space was wavering. Space was splitting. Space was being replaced by a Sub-Space portal.
Out of nowhere a sub-space portal of massive proportions appeared. It was larger than any previously seen. Either whatever coming through was massive beyond all comprehension, or this portal stretched to the end of time.
Out of the portal launched the GTD Bastion, closely persued by a pair of Seraphim fighters which were soon snuffed out.
The Bastion slows and it's engines power down as it mourns it's allies and awaits its own death.
"That's it then. We've done all we can."
"No! It can't be! There must have been some sort of sensor malfunction, maybe a glitch in the monitors"
"Damnit Jenson, you know it as well as I do. Earth is gone. The GTA is gone. Humanity is gone. We're all that's left."
"But sir, there must be something we can do."
"Do, there's nothing left to do! Don't you get it, we have LOST. The Shivans won. All we can do is sit here and wait for the end."
"Well, I'm not going to just sit here. If we're going down, I'm taking every last one of those bastards with us as I can. Sensors, where's the closest Shivan cruiser?"
"We're not reading any Shivan vessels sir. Nor any Vasudan distress beacons. They've been going like made since Vasuda Prime fell. It's as if the Shivans and Vasudans just disappeared."
"What? How? Wait, show me the recordings of our jump. There was a power surge. Could we have overshot Delta Serpentis, maybe ended up in some distant corner of the universe?"
"No sir, sub-space doesn't work like that. From what I can tell, we're still in Sol. But, so is Sol. it's still there."
"What the hell? How is that possible?"
"The power surge. it connected us to our own sub-space node. We switched dimensions. We're in a different universe."
"Dear god. We escaped, we can restart the species. We can go back, and wipe them out!"
"Sir, I don't think we'll need to. I'm getting million of broadcasts from all over the galaxy. Human broadcats. They're already set."
"Then lets go!"
"This isn't their war. They haven't encountered the Shivans. lets not drag them into a war they can't win. We need to rest, repair the Bastion, and restart the GTA."
"Your right Jenson. Helm, set course for the nearest inhabited star system. Transmit a distress call, tell them we need help. And tell the crew to prepare for shore leave, we have a hell of a mission ahead of us."
OOC: The Bastion is an Orion class Destroyer. It is a ship with a population of 20,000. All the nation info on the nation screen doesn't apply. (It's population stays the same, we don't have forests, there is no Uranium mining, etc.) What we're trying to do is reform the Galactic Terran Alliance and go back to our universe to take it back from the Shivans.
OOC: Does anybody own the Ross128 system?
OOC: The Galactic Alliance owns the Ross128 system, they have a shipyard and military base there

the Adornian destroyer ANS Imperial Dragon was on routine patrol near the edge of Ross 128. (OOC: I'm part of the GA, so...) On the bridsge was Captain Kyle Whitestone.
"Captain, I'm picking up distress call, inbon on Ross 128. I am also picking up one Orion class destroyer. No ID codes, sir."said the sensors officer
"Hail them"
"Aye sir, opening a channel"
"Attention unidentified ship. This is the ANS Imperial Dragon.Are you in need of assitance?"

We are refugees from what we think is another universe. The GTA has ben over-run, our planets destroyed, our species extinct. We need any allies that we can to return and take back our galaxy. We also have a number of Vasudans aboard. Do not be alarmed, they are an alien species but an ally. (remember, where these people come from there's only Vasudans and Shivans. They don't know that everybody is used to alien species)
If you know of anybody who can help us, we would be greatly in your debt. Bastion out"

OOC: No, really? I wanted to be able to use FS tech, but not get on the bad side with the people who already use it. So, I'm from an alternate reality, I have the tech, but haven't stolen it from them or anything
"We copy Bastion. Prepare to be escorted to space dock. And don't worry about the aliens. We've encountered a few before.Oh, and once you've settled in for repairs, I'd like to invite you to dinner on board the Imperial Dragon. I have manyquestions, as you can imagine. Whitestone out."
Whitestone tunred to the bridge crew.
"An alternate universe? Sounds crazy sir."
"I know. Put the ship on yellow alert."
The Imperial Dragon sidled up alongside the Bastion, preparing to bring her in.
"Thank you for the dinner invitation, but I must decline. There is much work to be done here. We are approaching the dock."

"I don't know sir. In our universe, Ross128 was the first base the Shivans destroyed. Heaven only knows what it's like in this universe."
"My thoughts exactly. Bring the ship back up to Red Alert (somebody has got to think up a better name for that), I want everybody prepared for whatever happens. And make sure the Ursas are ready, we might need their punch."
"Sir, we don't have any Ursas left. We have only 2 Beams and 7 Laser turrets active. We can't handle a fight."
"Damn, let's hope these guys are friendly."
"Attention GTD Bastion, this is Admiral Petrankis aboard the GA Installation Riviera stationed in Ross128. Once the Adornians bring you to the station you will rendevous with the...uh...with the GAD Bastion. You will dock on the starboard side and we will commence repairs."

"Find out what the hells going on"
BattleFleet Repentance heaved into view from the Rakis system. After weeks of journeying, Admiral Hyten was glad to be back in civilization. After a few days here, his fleet would fly off for home. He noticed something strange. The fleet quickly went into aggressive standby mode. "Riviera, what in the name of God is going on here?"
OOC: Actually, nothing is visibly strange. All that you can see is a damaged Orion (The Orions are in use by me, LRR, the GA, and many other nations) being escorted to the space docks.
((Any non GA ship in GA space is something strange))
OOC: How do you know it's not a GA ship? Klonor told me that the GA also uses Orion destroyers from FS. Our ships should look exactly the same. Am I missing something?
OOC:Flags, whatever. Please bare in mind that Hyten is a mentat. He could feel something odd. Tidak ada-ada. Just answer him. Don't get locked in on the details.
OOC: See, you didn't say he was a mentat. You use Dune? If you are using the mentat as the mentat from Dune, you are the first person I've seen using the mentats from Dune.
IC: "We don't know. The GTD Bastion, the damaged Orion, is claiming that it's from a different universe. There, the entire human species has been wiped out by a species called the "Shivans". They're the last survivors and managed to come to this universe when they got a power surge during their sub-space jump. So far their story stands up, what with them being an exact copy of our Bastion. We're still trying to untangle everything."
OOC: You knew I use mentats. I told you! Ah, well.
IC: "Very well. Permission to land? I have 1 million people here who need some relaxation."

I knew you used Dune, I didn't know you used Mentats. Bastion, a mentat is like a human computer.

"Permission granted. Dock on the port side, we want to give these new guys some room."
Hyten looked at the station. He grimaced and opened up a contact. "I have one RSD, 5 Wombats, 800 Hawks and 300 Enforcers. You want me to dock? Do you have shuttles I can use?"
((RSD's are flagships. You're not gonna see one on it's own.))
"If you'd like, you could use the phase gate. But I don't know if you have that technology."
"Try us." Hyten said, from just behind the Klonorman.
Phasegates don't work like that. And only I and Pedaphiliac own the technology and I don't think anybody bought it from him besides me.

"Yes, very nice. So, do we prepare for a war?" Hyten was inwardly thinking, I wonder what that world's Roania is.
Just go with the flow. Okay? Hyten is now next to your admiral, and a big fleet is outside your door. That sums it all up.

All we've got is a ship pleading for help. I don't see where war would come in.
I think the shivans would be following them, don't you? Imagine: A single base and it's men, aided by untrusted allies, have to stand against the evil invaders.
It could be a new NS Civil War! People would look back and say, that's how you do a space rp, that.

And no, the Shivans wont be following. They're still in their universe. Remeber, there was an energy spike when the Bastion made a sub-space jump which is what made it cross into our universe. That didn't happen to the Shivans, so they don't know what the hell happened to it, or how to follow it (me and Bastion worked this out yesterday, he wanted to make sure I was okay with him using FS tech)

He'll probably have no clue what the hell's going on. He leaves when he's docking and you're arriving, he comes back and we're planning a major war
Heh. I actually think it would be nice. We could get rivals to throw aside their differences to attack the Shivans. It would be like the Riftwar books!
Man, you really missed a battle. That's exactly what happened. And what happened in FreeSpace. The Terran-Vasudan War had raged on for 14 years, no end in sight. The shivans show up, start wasting everybody and the two species unite to fight them off. I think you'd like the game.

Whitestone watched as the Bastion was brought in for repairs. It was all very confusing. He turned to his Aide, James Tilburn.
"James, send a message to President Forrest about all this. He'll want to know."
"Aye, Sir."
Whitestone turned back to the viewport. This could get interesting...
OOC: Could somebody give me an update? I started this as a way to introduce myself into into this forum, and now I hear people talking about starting wars and stuff. I'm a bit lost.
Well, I believe someone brought a fleet infor R&R, so...I'm confused too.
Okay, let's start over. The Bastion is hurt, Adornia is escorting it to the station, and nothing after that has happened yet.

"Attention Adornian vessels, we have the GA base is sight and are moving to dock. Thank you for the escort."
"No problem. Contact us if you need anything. We'll be out on patrol Imperial Dragon, out"
OOC: Okay, so this is now over. No war or anything.

The GTD Bastion docks with the station and repairs commence. Already contacting other nations to resupply, the crew transfer over and relax for the first time in years. And they relax well, they have quite a journey ahead of them.

No, that wont be necessary. I don't plan on much combat. After all, it's only one single ship. Powerful as hell, but still just one ship.
