After long years of development the Agrigentian Air Force (AAF) has just released information following a public demonstration of the Drago 3000 Air Superiority Fighter Aircraft.

The Aircraft incorporates state of the art avionics and sensor equipment. It can out fly and out perform the EF 2000 Typhoon and is better armed than the F/A-22 Raptor and its low radar signature gives it an advantage against Su-37s.

It incorporates a limited number RAM ceramics surfaces. The curves on crucial surfaces and edges, which lessens the need for RAM. For example, new ceramic-matrix RAM is utilized on the engine exhaust nozzles to reduce radar and IR signatures, and a greater amount of wide-band structural RAM is used on the wing edges.

That is a pretty big order, heres a warning, when these things do come out they are going to cost a lot.

You're the first person I've seen use Italian engines. What's the projected cost?

Kudos for Agrigento.

While many n00bs build fleets of several kilometer long uber-space-warships, Agrigento here has done something reasonable.

Agrigento, glad to see someone doing it right.

I'm not sure yet, still working it out at the moment. Been really busy lately.

What do you guys think will be a reasonable price, I have some ideas, and I just wanted something to compare with.

compare how much you needed to develop it, compare how much all the components and avionix costs, to how much you want a profit. Of course, if your economy is like ours, (shit), then you might want to up the price. But we'd say that for an advanced capability fighter, from around 90 to 200 million would be a reasonable price range.

Well it beats the shit out of Walmington's latest aviation effort :)

Personally I'd worry about having a modern-age air superiority fighter with no long range missiles, but it looks pretty and does..good stuff.

I should certainly be more awake before commenting on things, eh?

And Melkor- don't they only fire from one at a time? why would the rest need to be exposed? surely only the bottom one need be?

They are interior dude, just like the M61 Vulcan gun on the F-22!

Believe me, I spent quite some time researching this.

(*reminds self to contact Agrigento while designing MPAF-10 "Cobra" and -11 "Peregrine"* (Yes, I think the "Derby" will be the last Iansislean flyer with a horse-esque name - I'm running short of ideas :) )

Awesome looking planes, dude. Sorry about not responding to this earlier. Um, I would ask you some technical questions, but I don't know enough about next generation aviation to not sound like an idiot  )

But only one fires at a time, and they all rotate so they all fire at the same place so you only need one hole and modern tech is so nice the 20mm shell only needs a hole 21mm wide to come out....

That's what I said! I hope!

Yeah, I did. Woo.

Er.

Well it seemed for a moment like a great achievement.

Look at the pretty plane, people. It's all Italian and s..tuff. Classy.

So NICE......

*Drools*

But theres a problem....

It's got a tail....

I'm making one myself that doesn't have a tail....

Go look....

Here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71076)....

But it's not for sale so Agrigentos sales are safe....

No offense meant here cause that is a SWEEEEETASS fighter...

BUT

All these people that create"super" fighters with added weapons etc, etc and charge 100M and over...

These things don't have much adnantage if any over a conventional F-16, F-18, and definitely still don't out range the F-14.

The extra price isn't worth it.

That said though, I like initiative and your design is excellent.

I'll take 10 for experimental purposes when they come out.

Okay, well those 10 are ready for delivery.

They are to act as a replacement for my F-22's and F-15's

um googlewoop, responding to your stuff about that plane getting whooped by the F16, F15, F22, i dont think that would happen.
For starters, the Drago is significantly more maneuverable despite its speed, as canards increase its ability to pull tight turns, loops, rolls and such substantially. Its range is better than an F15, F14, and such, especially since that thing has wargamed my F22 air division and won, if by a close margin. Since the F22 can defeat the various other F-types mentioned above, and it is defeated by the Drago, logic dictates that the Drago should be able to prevail against F15s, F16s, and F14s. The armament, sensors, and engines are also superior, and being of an Italian design, it is doubtless heir to a rich aeronautical tradition, one that has nevertheless been overlooked.

So yes, they are capable of defeating the planes you mentioned above.
