Guerrilla War ( Serious RP )

30-08-2003, 05:26
OOC: I'm just going to explain what's going on here before I give some IC background. This is a semi-planned RP that has a specific ending, but how that ending is achieved is free for decision as long as it stays within the parameters I'm about to set out. I need 4 volunteers to play the four major roles in this RP. The first is the "victim" or "target" nation. The specifcations for this nation are that it must use only modern tech, must be less that 100 million more or less than my population and must be willing to stick within the parameters. The second and third roles are two larger nations of at least 200 million more than my population. One nation will be my "backer" and the other will back the other nation. Basically both sides will provide diplomatic support and limited military support. The last role is of an internation news agency who will periodically sum up the events of the thread.
The parameters are as follows: 1) The nations will use primarily infantry with occassional appearances of aircraft and tanks. 2) The nations will adhere to the final result of the RP. 3) This is a guerrilla/anti-guerrilla war and will stay that way. 4) No nukes, chem weapons or bio weapons. 5) I'll periodically TG each person to give them instructions on what to do and all nations will adhere to the instructions so the RP can eventually reach it's intended ending.
The plot of the RP is that my nations highest guerrilla warfare expert and commander of our armed forces resigns his positions and goes off to fight a guerrilla war in another country ( the "victim" nation ) in an attempt to spread the socialist revolution. Eventually the two big nations find out where he is and one attempts to stop him by aiding the "victim" nation while the other one aids him with arms and intelligence. Eventually though the guerrilla war he launches fails and he is captured and killed. He then becomes a symbol of sacrifice and heroism in my country. This also leads to policy and society reforms inside my country.
This is modelled on the the final years and death of Che Guevara and the Talaaxian revolutionary character is based on him and is even named after him, General E. Ge'VeraH. I'll make an IC post immediately after this one, so please refrain from volunteering until after that one.

----Office of CinCRAFT, Talaaxia, Talaax----
President Jean Paris has been summoned to meet with General Ge'VeraH. He says it's urgent so Paris hurries to meet with him. Upon entering the office Paris fins everything to be packed up in boxes and Ge'VeraH sitting calmly behind his desk, staring out the window into Revolution Plaza. As Paris enters Ge'VeraH turns around, a serious look on his face
Paris: You summoned me, comrade? What is so urgent that you had me cancel my appointments for the day?
Ge'VeraH: *sigh* I've made a decision, Jean. I can't stay here anymore, there's nothing left for me here.
Paris: You mean at this post? You can transfer if you wish. Take a vacation perhaps.
Ge'VeraH: No, not in this office. In Talaax. The days of revolutionary romantacism are over, Jean. Only routine and paperwork remain. You know me, Jean, I can't live like this.
Paris: What are you saying, comrade?
Ge'VeraH: I'm leaving. I'm a revolutionary. I belong out there *gestures out the window* fighting the battles, liberating the people. I can't be happy here in all this bueracracy. I have to leave.
Paris: But the people need you here, in Talaax. You're an important man.
Ge'VeraH: I've made my decision. I leave tomorrow. But you mustn't tell anyone. Not yet. You'll know the right time. Take this *hands Paris a sealed letter*, open it at the right time and read it to the people. They will understand. I must go prepare now. There are many things to do...
Ge'VeraH then stands and walks out of the room leaving Paris stunned. Ge'Verah heads directly for his home to say goodbye to his family. Afterwards he boards a plane bound for allied nations. The plane makes three stops before arriving in Canadian Princes. From the airport he is wisked away by TIS men to a safe house in the coutryside to wait for the equipment and his men to arrive.
---Three weeks later---
In the presidential office the lights are on, even this late at night. President Paris and his trusted advisor, Ricardo Rojo, discuss Ge'VeraH's situation.
Paris: I shouldn't have let him go, Ricardo. He is needed here.
Rojo: He is a revolutionary, Jean, we both know that. He's need at the vanguard. That's where he is most usefull to the people.
Paris: *sigh* I know, but...I just don't know, Ricardo. He's in a safe house now in Canadian Princes. Soon he'll be fighting again. What will this bring us, Ricardo? How will they all react?
Rojo: Only time will tell, Jean. Our main concern should be Centralis and Svea Riga. They hold much influence in this region. He knows what he's doing though.
Paris: I know. ............Perhaps now is the right time. Schedule a television appearance for tomorrow. We'll read the letter.
Rojo: Consider it done Jean.
The next morning Paris steps up to the podium to make a speech that will answer many questions in Talaax. The viewing booth goes silent as he begins to speak
Paris: Friends, I've come here to make an announcement. Some of you may have noticed the lack of public appearances by General Ge'VeraH in the past few weeks. I've come here to answer some questions for you and to dispell some rumours.
Three weeks ago General Ge'VeraH left Talaax. I can't say where he is, but know that he is fulfilling his obligations to the people. Before he left, he gave me this letter to be read, "at the right time". It says:
Talaax,
If you are hearing this, then it must be the right time. I have left Talaax to be at the vanguard of the revolution again. I leave you with mixed emotions. I am happy because I have fulfilled my duties to Talaax and that I am finally getting to be a revolutionary again. I feel lucky to have such a great cause to be fighting for as global socialism. But I am sad to be leaving behind such a wonderfull people as the Talaaxians. Know this, though, I do not do this for me. I do this for the people of the globe. I am no longer a Talaaxian revolutionary, I am a global revolutionary.
On a personal note, Jean, I have known since the day I met you that you are a born leader. You have proven it time and time again during your presidency. Ever since we met in the safe house all those many years ago, I have known that always I shall stand and die beside you. I know you want to be with me here, but Talaax needs you more than I. Lead the nation as an example to all others as the correct path.
To truly be a global revolutionary I must make a few sacrifices and burn many bridges. It is because of this that I hereby renounce my Talaaxian citizenship and my rank and pay as General. I also disavow the nation of Talaax and all agency therein of all responsibility for my actions. I act alone and independantly. It is with this final acknowledgement that I must go.
Liberation or Death!
I embrace you with all my revolutionary fervor.
Ernesto Ge'VeraH.
Now you know all I now, comrades. And I believe you join me in saying, good luck General and be safe. Thank you.

OOC: Alright. That's a start anyway.

30-08-2003, 06:24
OOC: Actually, now that I reread the first post, I could also possibly take the role of the 'victim' nation's backer, depending on what kind of nation it turned out to be.
30-08-2003, 06:26
It's supposed to be capitalist and hopefully somewhat oppressive. That way the storyline makes a little more sense. The backer of that nation is also supposed to be capitalist, but does not need to be oppressive.
Centralis
30-08-2003, 06:29
Well, that poses a bit of a problem if I want to be the backer, as we're not generally in the habit of supporting oppressive regimes... however, 'mildly' oppressive (say, a nation where the government mainly confines itself to electoral fraud, or the occasional use of police to break up protests) would be acceptable for us to back.
30-08-2003, 06:31
What about a nation whose government has a bad relation with it's poor, mainly rural population.
Centralis
30-08-2003, 06:32
Would depend on how they treated them. If they just ignored them and left them to rot, that'd be fine - same if they occasionally beat them up when they protested. If they frequently went round assassinating peasant leaders, etc, they wouldn't be supported.
30-08-2003, 06:34
Mostly ignoring them is what they'd do. There would be occassional police brutality but the government usually just ignores to poor.
Note: These don't have to be the actual conditions in your nation. You can just assume them for this RP.
Centralis
30-08-2003, 06:36
Right, then... I'd be fine to back that nation (although officially we'd be unhappy about conditions in the countryside, and be pushing the country to alleviate them, really, we couldn't care less).
30-08-2003, 06:37
Alright, I'll add your name in to the orignal RP as one of the "super powers" or backer nations.

OOC: The Federation would have been perfect as a backer for the "victim" nation... but, since that role is already taken, I can have the FACS play the neutral role. hehehe... I just realized that the FACS is appearing more and more to be like a libertarian-objectivist version of Sweden.
30-08-2003, 16:47
Alright. Thanks. We're starting to get along now. I'll put you down as the news agency. *Cue snow balling effect now*
30-08-2003, 16:52
I'll be willing to play any of the backers roles, whichever you felt me best suited too. Or if any other rps a nation is involved in don't matter so much in here, I have an ally with a frightening economy and 500 mil pop, he might work well there too.
30-08-2003, 16:54
You don't quite fit into the role. The backer nations supposed to "United States" and "Soviet Union" - like. So they should be larger than I am. What bout playing the "target" nation?

The safe house was secure, or so they told him, but far from comfortable. The small one storey house on the outskirts of the Canadian Princes' capitol was shared with five other guerrillas. Three of the men were hand picked by Ge'VeraH to accompany him on this guerrilla adventure. Villi'jas, Pombo and Mass'tti, Ge'VeraH's most trusted subordinates had also left behind their families and jobs to spread the socialist revolution.
It had been a week and a half since they last heard from their TIS handler and the men were beginning to wonder. Was he captured? Had he defected? Ge'VeraH dismissed these ponderings though, as always he had faith in his fellow man.
This faith was not to be unfounded. After two weeks without contact a small white van pulled up infront of the house. The driver rolled down his window, lit a cigarette and leaned back in the seat. The signal. The men quickly shuffled outside and into the van. Immediately the van drove away, not stopping until it had reached the jump off location - a small rural farm in the Canadian Princes country side.
There the six men met up with the other thirty men who would be their brothers in arms. It was now only a matter of waiting for their weapons to arrive and marching off into the forests.
---Paris' Office, Talaaxia---
Paris:*on phone* He is? How long until he begins? That soon eh? Alright. We'll send another shipment of ammunition next week. Yes. Ok, goodbye.*hangs up phone and looks up at Rojo, who is seated infront of his desk* He's in the final preparatory stages now, Ricardo. Soon this will all start. We made the correct decision, didn't we?
Rojo: I believe we did, Jean. But, only time will tell....
30-08-2003, 17:18
OOC: Alright, now someone can react to Paris' speech on page one. And CP you can perhaps do a police inspection of the farm. We're still in the cloak and dagger and diplomacy stages right now. So stick around these sorts of things for now.

"So you think somethings going on way the hell out here in bumpkinville"

"Where else" Lt. marcou threw down his cigarrette, his new partner rob McDonald was not entertaining him, more like annoying. Although he had to admit he didn't like the countryside anymore then his partner. They had been assigned to the Internal Security force, and were hot on the trail of insurgents. The minister of Intelligence had personally given both of them their orders, find and eliminate them. Who exatly "them" was he didn't know, but he had an idea. He had heard as many others did that the "great" revolutionary Ge'VeraH had left his homeland, supposedly to spread his filthy communist slander around the world.

But Marcou wasn't about to let it happen, he had been particularly efficient in his past searches, none of them had gotten away. But this one was staying underground, he had already seized three houses from their owners for suspicion of harboring known terrorists, though he was beginning to doubt they had anything to do with it, it couldn't be much harm to anyone to keep the houses under guard, sure the owners were somewhat inconvenienced, but they could just get a hotel for the next few nights, and be proud to say they helped stop the tide of revolutionary splandor.

He stared across the wooded plains and eyed a house, dilapatated by the looks of it. He saw a large gathering of men outside it, not unusual for these parts for people to have barbecues or get togethers. But still, he had his job. "Rob get in the car, we're gonna go take a look somewhere"
30-08-2003, 19:03
A small group of guerrillas were sitting around the front of the farm house playing cards when one of them noticed a dust cloud about two or three kilometers down the "driveway" ( It's a long driveway and a big property ). He picked upa pair of binoculars sitting nearby and stared down at the unknown car approaching.
Guerrilla: We've got company. It's not TIS. Get everyone out the back door except us. Send them to the bivouac in the woods. Is Ernesto done shaving?
Ge'VeraH: *stepping out of the house, clean shaven and with dyed blonde hair. Although it's dyed it looks natural*Yes, I am finished. Half the men are out on an endurance march now anyway. They won't be back until tomorrow. The rest are heading out the bivouac. Try to act friendly, but not too friendly to these men. Remember, we recently immigrated here and bought this farm. We grow corn, raise a few horses and sell hay. Let me do most of the talking. Only speak to them when they speak to you directly.
With that, Ge'VeraH sat down with the rest of the men and joined in their card game, waiting for the car to arrive. The other men were already out of the farm house and out of sight down a hill. They would be arriving at the hidden bivouac in a few minutes. No weapons had arrived yet and all incriminating papers had already been burned, the men had memorized them already. The only thing they had to worry about was Ge'VeraH's extensive collection of left-wing books and poems. Most of them were safely hidden away under the floors, but some were still in the open.

LeMay - Come in.
Vance - Sir, we have gotten strong indications implying that ex. Talaaxian general Ge'VeraH has resurfaced as a guerilla leader.
LeMay - So?
Vance - If we support him, we may get useful allies that we may use of in the future.
LeMay - Hmmm...Leave me, I have to think.
Vance - Yes, sir
LeMay walk over to the coffee machine, grabs a mug of coffee, walks back to the desk. He reaches into the desk and pulls out a flask of brandy, pours some into the coffee. He sweeps the spiked coffee and starts to write orders instructing 3:rd Black Wolves squad (Black Op.) to make contact with Ge'VeraH and support him in every way. *RING, RING*

Lucretia Bialaszewiski, Minister for External Intelligence, put down her coffee as she heard her secure phone ringing. Only important agents or officials could call her on it, and wha6t they had to say was invariably important.

"Yes, who is it?" she asked, answering it.

"This is Firefront, calling from Zone 4987." Lucretia unconsciously translated the codewords in her head - this was a call from their agent in the Talaaxian capital. "Apparently the Talaaxian revolutionary Ernesto Ge'VeraH has left the country to spread revolution to other countries. If he picks any of our allies to do that in, we might have some problems."

"Indeed, Firefront. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I shall inform the President immediately. Please keep me updated on any further developments."

"Will do."

The phone line went dead, but no soone rhad Lucretia replaced it in her desk drawer than there was a loud *BING* from her computer, indicating an incoming message. She hit a key to bring it up.

*BEGIN MESSAGE*
TO: L.B., MEI
FROM: Phantasm
SUBJECT: C.P. SITUATION

We have received information indicating that there may soon be an upsurge in rural insurgent activities in Canadian Princes. There do not appear to have been any specific incidents as yet, but our soruces have indicate that something is underway.
*END MESSAGE*

Lucretia stared at the message for several seconds before hitting another key and banishing it from the screen. So... Ge'VeraH had left hisnhomlenad for an unknown destination, and then shortly afterwards, there was this. Coincidence?'Unlikely,' she thought, 'the president needs to know about this.'

Opening the hidden drawer on her desk again, she picked up her secure phone and dialed for the president.

"Yes, Lucretia?"

"Mr. President, I have received two improtant peices of information in as many minutes, and I think they're related."

"So what are they?"

"Firstly, Ernesto Ge'VeraH has left his homeland of Talaax for destination unknown, in order to spread the socialsit revolution. Secondly, our agents in Canadian Princes are predicting an upsurge in rural insurgent activity in the new future. I don't think this is coincidence."

"No, it does seem a bit suspicious... even if Ge'VeraH isn't there, though, we don't want to be caught unprepared. Inform the Canadian Princes government that we'd like to step up our assistance to them. Send some of our specialist counter-insurgency troops to help train theirs, and increase the flow of wepons to their army, especially small arms."

"I'll do that at once, Mr. President."

The Talaaxian Merchant Marine vessel TSS Julius Fucik had been in service since the very early days of the revolution. Originally commissioned the "Might of Garek", the ship had been renamed the Fucik after the rebel victory. Since then she'd been used primarily to ferry troops to and from peacekeeping duties and to make secret arms shipments to and from Talaax. This sailing was no different.
So far the trip to Canadian Princes had been uneventful except for a brief storm halfway there. But now was where the real difficult part would begin. A half hour ago the Fucik had entered CP waters. The captain expected to be hailed any moment now by the CP coast guard and hoped his cover story would be good enough to prevent a boarding.
In the event that it didn't the secret cargo of weapons and explosive were sealed in airtight plastic boxes, pre- and post-dipped in hydrochloric acid to prevent any residual particles being detected by dogs or chemical sniffers. The plastic boxes were then sealed inside metal crates which were then filled with frozen meat to hide the weapons. Only 1/5 of the Fucik's cargo was weapons. The rest were actual trade with CP.
Captain: Come about to bearing 225, 1/2 ahead helm.
Helmsman: Come about to 225, 1/2 ahead, aye.
Captain: First Officer, any aircraft or ships on radar?
First Officer: None yet sir. Shouldn't be long.
Captain: Alright. Second Officer, what's the status of the electronics mast?
Second Officer: Mast is up and active.
Captian: Very well. Make speed 17 knots, maintain bearing.
Helmsman: Make speed 17 knots, maintain bearing, aye.

Lt. Marcou and his partner sat in their hummer just outside the ranch, they had been waiting for about an hour as the backup he asked for came. When the van pulled up he simply began driving forward. About 100 yards away from it he sped up and came to a screech halt in front of the house. It was near dark, with the sun just going down behind the mountains, and the people were gathered about outside around two tables, some food scattered about.

He jumped out of his car with his baton at the ready, his partner followed suite, though in a less intimidating manner. Following them however were 6 heavily armed Internal Security response teams. In dark blue kevlar armor from head to toe, a plastic sheild, and a combination of a taser and a baton.

He pointed to his badge "Alright everyone this is a search and seizure, we believe you are harboring insurgents and are traitors to the Government of Canadian Princes."

One of the women got up and ran in front of him and the team "You can't do this, you need a warrant to enter our property, this is illegal, your not police."

"We don't need a warrant when conducting an investigation concerning this high national security. Sergeant Rizzita put these people under arrest and place them against that shack over there. Corporal Leonhart tear this place apart, find the insurgents and bring them to me, I want them alive!"

2 of the officers began placing flexi-cuffs on the roughly 25 people and placing them in a group against a shack off to the side, the rest were searching through the home, throwing over things in there way, searching every room. The citizens who were arrested were given several marks to remember how they had "assisted" the government this night.

"But but sir we were only having a freindly gathering, we are harboring no one, we don't even know what oyu are talking about.... please let us go, we have nothing" Marcou looked down at the man who was talking frantically to him, noticing that he was in charge, the only officer still in the swirl of motion. Marcou looked at him for a second, then twitched his eyes up to the officer above the man, who quickly brought his baton down on the mans back, not only hitting him with the brute force of the impact but also sending a small surge of electircity into him. The man quickly crumpled down and the officer pulled him away to the line of people.

Then he heard an officer yell something, followed by more officers yelling at each other, and a faint orange glow inside the ranch house. "Officer what is going on?" He asked an ISF officer who had ran out.

"Sir officer Gwynn knocked over a row of candles in the house while searching, the blaze is getting out of control."

Sergeant Leonhart then came up to him. "Sir we found nothing of value, a large fire is building up inside sir, if the revolutionaries were in here they must have escaped from us sir".

Marcou looked to the house then to the women screaming from the shack that her house was on fire. "Alright good work sergeant, call the local fire department, report a large fire at a ranch. Stay here to make sure everything is alright."

The Sergeant saluted him "Yes sir."

"Lt. McDonald, let's get back to the Capitol, come on, we have to report everything we've gathered to the Director." As he got back intohis hummer with Mcdonald, as he was driving not too far from that ranch he spotted another one, a smaller gathering of men was around it, and one of them caught his eye. Soemthing familar about that face...... something a poster perhaps? It didn't matter much know, he would come back tommorow to check it out, he was tired anyhow.

When the fire department finally arrived they found burnt ashes of a house, a shack standing up, and 6 ISF officers getting into their van. A great tragedy was reported in the countryside, 23 people burned alive becuase of negligence when using gasoline in a barbecue. There was no mention of the ISF anywhere in the report.
31-08-2003, 04:51
OOC: Ok. That wasn't our ranch, right?
31-08-2003, 04:52
OOC: Nope, the ranch he saw when leaving was, and he'll be back tommorow so...... might wanna leave.
31-08-2003, 05:01
OOC: That would raise quite a bit of suspicion. More than a small group of men working on a farm. Never the less, most of them will move into the hidden bivouac tonight. Go easier on the men left at the farm house,as the aren't poor like most of the people here.
IC: Ge'VeraH stared absently at the smoke rising in the distance, knowing exactly what had happened. Perhaps it was time to move out. No, the weapons were still due to arrive. Moving out would mean missing them. So instead he decided to leave seven men behind at the farm house and take the rest to the bivouac for a couple of days. They would also take along his left-wing literature. The men left behind would be Villi'jas, Mass'tti and five other guerrillas, two of whom were CP volunteers from the CP Communist Party.
Later that night the men moved out to join the others at the bivouac a few kilometers away. It would be a tense wait, but it had to be endured. The weapons were due to arrive in five days, hopefully they would be able to ship them here on time.
31-08-2003, 05:09
OOC: Also, are you going to respond to the sailing of the TSS Julius Fucik? It's integral to the thread as it contains the weapons for the guerrillas.
31-08-2003, 05:28
On board the CCS Toronto, captain Teller stood on the bridge at the commanders station. He had been sent out with his light frigate to check out a large freighter and escort it into the nearest harbor.

"Sir ship to starboard, heading towards the mainland, present speed..... 17 knots."

"Thank you Mr.Abutto, Lt. Dobei, change our heading to intercept the freighter, and send a message to them requesting they stop for confirmation of their cargo, and wait to be escorted to Halifax."

"Yes sir" The Lieutenant moved off to fulfill his duties. He had orders to search any freighters from Talaax with the recent disappearence of their famed general, and the recent increase in internal problems, had led the government to become paranoid. TSS Julius

First Officer: We have contact with the CCS Toronto, sir. They request we stop for confirmation of cargo and also that we send them our cargo manifests.
Captain: Very well. All stop. Rudder amidships.
Helmsman: All stop, aye. Rudder amidships, aye.
Captain: *picks up intercom microphone* Attention crew. We have contact with CP ships. Prepare to be boarded. Comply with their requests. The officers will deal with them, all enlisted men are ordered to proceed with normal duties. Officers report to your stations and be ready to comply with requests.*puts the microphone down* This is it. First Officer, you and I will meet them on the midships gangway.
First Officer: Aye, sir.
With that the captain and first officer leave the bridge and go to the midships gangway to meet the CP boarding party. This will be the most difficult part of the mission, but both men have faith in their men and the TIS' ability to hide the weapons efficiently.
With them at the gangway are two enlisted men armed with 9mm pistols, the only armament on the ship. Each officer is also allotted a 9mm pistol but none of the bridge crew carry them. Also with them is a copy of the ship's cargo manifest.

.:Inside the council of foreign warfare:.
Commander Alexander is about to speak - Silence in the room, we have to decide whatever to react or not in the Ge'VeraH issue, I want the council to approve just one phone call to the Talaaxian governments and sort this thing out before it's to late

He gets interrupted by another man, probably one of the high councils most respected and mightiest men.

He speaks with and old voice, he's been around in the council for allmost 45 years all the way back to the revolution days - I think not, we've seen enough of wars and horrors here, we've allways interfeared with other countries when there's communism in the way, I will not vote for an interfearing this time...Alexander can't we just leave the world alone?

The council members begin to mumble.

Alexander looked allmost shocked - No, we cannot leave the world alone, what if we were to leave Skargarden alone, they'd attack us in an instance, I urge the council to vote for involvment in this issue, communism is the right way, why shouldn't we support it wherever it is in the world?

Again the members begin to mumble, and one of the members in the "tower" stands up and they all fall silent.

Very well, let the voting begin

A couple of hours later Alexander storms out of the council and walks up to his secretary - Call the Talaaxian government for me

Ensign Fredric Werner at the SABSS (SpAce Based Surveillence Station) Heimdall registrates rather unusual information traffic in and out of the Talaaxian capitol. He contacts the officer in charge, Lt. Zender. Lt. Zender deems that this is important and relays the information to the information desk at the Ministry of Defence.

The Minister of Defence, Major Steinman thinks that more information is needed before the right action could be done.

He contacts the Leader Henry LeMay after a breif discussion they have come to a desicion(?).

Major Steinman orders that surveillence in and on the Talaaxian Capitol should be increased.

---Office of President Paris, Talaaxia---
The phone call from the Svea Rigan government comes in the middle of a meeting with TIS* head R'ev Tensh, Foreign Affairs Minister Benj Ta'l and newly appointed CinCRAFT** General Hal' Garen. The three men are discussing the recently police activity around Ge'VeraH's safe house and the situation with the TSS Julius Fucik.
Paris: What exactly happened, R'ev?
Tensh: The CP police raided a neighboring ranch. They were looking for insurgents, although that wasn't in any official reports. The place was burned to the ground and no one survived. Officially some dumb farmers burned themselves to death with reckless use of gasoline in a fire.
Paris: Hmph. Sounds typical. Has Ernesto contacted our agents in country?
Tensh: No, we have no reports from his ranch. Recent satellite over flies have shown fewer guerrillas on the ranch. He's probably moved them to a back up location. We'll look for it on the next pass in ..... 4 hours.
Paris: Very well. Garen, what's the situation with the Fucik?
Garen: She's stopped sir. The CP authorities are preparing to board her, they may have a look around too.
Paris: Should we be worried about them finding the weapons?
Tensh: No sir, every precaution has been taken to prevent that from happening.
Paris: Good, Ernesto needs those weapons and we need that ship. How do we think the CP government will react once Ernesto starts up his conflict?
Ta'l: Tighter restrictions, curfews, crackdowns on rural citizens. They may resort to more violence on rural farmers.
Paris: Al --*Phone rings* Hello? Yes this is he. Alright, hold on. * to the other men* We'll pick this up in an hour.

(( OOC: Sorry it took so long for more from me, I was away for most of today, should be here for most of tommorow though))

The President sat in his office reading through papers of the increasing unrest in the major cities. The percentage of the population dissenting wasn't really that big, but it was growing slowly, like a malignant tumor trying to make it's way to his brain. He hadn't slept well in a long time, but he had heard he would be getting some good news when he arrived.

His minister of defense burst in the room. "Mr. President I have great news, the nation of Centralis has been increasing the level of aid we receive, and sent counter-insurgency troops to help our own outmatched soldiers."

"Most excellent news, perhaps now we can get rid of this annoyance, have the Minister of Foreign relations set up a teleconference with Centralis, I'd like to ask them exactly how they plan to help us, becuase we could use it"

"Of course Mr. President, I'll inform her immediately"

"Oh and Mr. Abore, next time your puppets search somewhere, make sure it is the right place"

Abore stood there for a second, he hadn't told the president about that.
"Of course sir, we will be more careful next time"

"I know you will" The president let out a sigh and sat back in his chair as Abore left the room, suddenly things weren't looking so glim.

-- On a small boat heading from the CCS Toronto to the TSS Julius Fucik --

"Commander we are coming up on the ship" The seaman driving the dinghy yelled from his post.

"Great to hear, bring us beside her" He didn't bother to tell him as the captain of the ship he preffered to be called captain, though his rank was only Lt. Commander.

He had with him a search crew of 5, each armed with a Berreta M29FS, and the dinghy pilot and another crewmember would stay on the dinghy with FAMAS rifles should more fire be needed. He doubted it would, most searches were fairly quiet. He felt the boat bump as it came up beside the freighter, the search crew and himself climbed aboard the ship, 2 men and 2 officers were standing there waiting for him.

"Hello, I am Lieuteneant Commander Jim Teller, of the Canadian Princes Coast Patrol, I assume that is your cargo manifest."

He and the captain of the Taalaxian ship exchanged greetings, then he handed over the cargo manifest.

"Ensign Ibertson, take this with your search crews, make sure this is what they are carrying, try not to harm it too much, then transmit it back to the mainland to confirm this is what they should be carrying."

"Aye aye sir" The search team left to conduct their search, they were fairly efficient but the Toronto had not been back to port in several weeks, and he wasn't sure the crew was on it's usual edge, but the team would do it's job.

He and another seaman stood on the gangplank looking at the other ships captain, something about him made him uneasy.

---Aboard TSS Julius Fucik---
After exchanging greetings with the CP Commander the Captain and First Officer gesture for the 5 men to follow them. The lead them down two flights of stairs and down a ladder. Along the way they run into several crew men who look suprised and quickly get out of the way. The two officers are friendly men, so it would be strange if these men were afraid of them. (OOC: Many "common", ie; those who don't travel abroad etc, Talaaxians are xenophobic. Many members of the merchant marine enlisted corps are not different.) They lead the search party down into the vast cargo hold.
Inside the hold 200 large metal crates stand stacked upon each other and some moved to the floor infront of their respective stacks for inspection. The stack containing the weapons is piled up over the weapons so the weapons crates are in the middle. The "inspection crate" is filled with frozen meat.
Captain: Here you are gentlemen, the cargo hold of the TSS Julius Fucik. I believe you'll find everything in order. If you have any questions please direct them towards my First Officer, I'll be heading back to the bridge now.
---Ge'VeraH's Safe House, Canadian Princes----
The five men left behind waited around anxiously, watching for cars and playing cards. Two of them Villi'jas and one of the CP men regularily went out into the fields to till and plant them. It was only a matter of time now before the police arrived for their inspection and it had to look like they'd actually done some work on the farm.
Meanwhile, Ge'VeraH and the rest of his men kept a low profile, sleeping in hammocks and eating smoked meat to avoid having to light a fire. Many of the men disliked the smoked meat, but endured it for the sake of the revolution. Many of the men here knew what it really meant to fight a revolution. Over 3/4 of them had fought in the Talaaxian Civil War and were more than proficient in guerrilla tactics. Each one, more or less, had ben under fire before. They were ready to go, all they needed were they're weapons.

In Henry LeMay's office:

Major Steinman - Sir, our intel. gatherers in CP have learned that a freak gasoline fire killed a couple of peasents.
LeMay - So?
Steinman - The interresting is that it happened just before intensiv radio traffic going in and out of the Talaaxian Capitol, some of it went to Svea Riga. And a another interresting fact is that a famous Talaaxian general Ernesto Ge'Vera'H resigned some toime ago, and went under ground.
We have grounds to suspect that Ge'Vera'H are for the moment in CP in order to prepare a revolution, but we are not sure and Svea Riga might be supporting him.
LeMay - This sounds interresting. Keep the surveillance online and send Santa's little helper's to CP to try to make contact with the ex-general, if they cannot make contact, tell to wait to the right time.

The President and most of his cabinet sat in the room, the line to Centralis now opened. They were arranged in a circle in front of his desk, the Minister of Defense however was no where to be seen.

President: "Greetings to our allies in Centralis, we've received the transmissions that you will upping the amount of support you give us. We'd like to know exactly what support you will give, and discuss what support we want."

"At the moment our internal security forces claim to have the situation under control, but my Minister of Intelligence says otherwise, we've been receiving a disturbing amount of burst transmissions from outside the country, most likely from Talaax, and we believe the "famed" Ge'VeraH may even be somewhere in our countryside. We definetely have a handle on our major cities, but we have miles and miles of feilds and only limited forces to secure it all at once. We also are running short on funds for our military, I believe it may be corruption and am cracking down on the government, but we would ask for infusions of money to train and arm new soldiers"

The room seemed to hang on those words, waiting for the response
Centralis
04-09-2003, 09:58
"Well, it looks like you're in luck," the President said, shuffling through the myriad papers on the table in front of him to find the relevant ones. "Under Centralis law governing foreign aid, you qualify for a much larger total of aid than we have previously been sending - much larger - and we have decided to increase the aid flow to maximum. Foreign Minister Von Weiser is also quietly negotiating with senior parliamentarians for an increase to the upper limit.

"This increase in aid should be enough to meet your current needs. It will provide funds and training for new soldiers, and for an anti-corruption program if you want any help with that, and also additional equipment and troops specifically for counter-insurgency - scout aircraft, surveillance systems, and crack troops to train and assist your forces. All equipment provided will be the ebst available for the job, direct from the manufacturers in Capitalstan and El Hongadura. We hope this will prove adequate, but if it doesn't, we're ready to provide more.

The Humvee stops outside the road leading into the capitol, they make a quick tire change for urban warfare and then proceed to Clancy's Pub.

The two cars kicked up dust on the country road, driving for endless hours from the Capitol to continue their endless searches. There were 3 Internal Security Force soldiers in one and two officers in the car in front, Lt. Marcou leading them. He wa returning now to check out the little farm he had seen leaving this area awhile ago after reporting a fire. It had taken weeks to get the Command to give him permissions to go back to a searched area but finally he had gotten permission and a few soldiers to boot.

His partner was droning on about something, doesn't make enough money, wife is in jail for protesting, that one he had been on about for awhile. He still got to talk to her, she was being held back at Command in the lower levels, had been protesting the "shady" new ISF actions, reports of citizens disappearing, black helicopters, the usual. Of course..... most of it was true, but most people didn't believe it, they had their bread and games.

He stopped the car in front of the ranch, there were a few people outside tending the crops, the soldiers piling out of the other car behind him. A man ran up to him from the crops, some kind of farming instrument in his hands.

"Why hello officers, how can we help you"

"You can move" One of the soldiers pushed the guy aside on his way to the house. "Just sit back, we won't be long, hopefully"

Something seemed off, all the people tending the crops seemed to be staying at him out of the corner of thier eyes, and didn't really seem to be doing anything except milling about. Then one of the soldirs came out of the doorway holding an AKM assault rifle. The mans eyes widened as he saw the soldier running up.

"Sir, sir! We found this in one of the bedrooms, under the bed, fully loaded. Looks like it hasn't been used either, and the marking that once identified who made it or owns it have been scratched off"

Marcou took the rifle from the soldier, seeing the scratch marks on the barrel. The clip was loaded in and the selector on full auto. "Strange that a family of farmers would be holding such a weapon"

"We found it in the feilds, a group of men moved through a few nights ago, a large group, they were pretty loud, when we went out to look for them we found this, the things we found looked like they were following the road to Halifax, we just found it out there, had to put it under the bed so none of the kids found it" He was cut off as Sergeant Leonhart shoved him out of the way.

"Sir shall we call for a wagon, we need to take all these people back to Co.." he was cutoff as the man jumped on him, batting with his fists at the armor the Sergeant was wearing. Marcou grabbed the man by the shoulders and was promptly kicked off, then two of the armored soldiers ran over and pried the man off. He was screaming something about murderers and his neighbors and the truth.

Sergeant Leonhart stood up and wiped a small trickle of blood from his face, the one unshielded part of his body. He muttered something then lifted up his baton hitting the man on the head, the electric end was on, sending an electrical shock through the man everytime it hit. He hit him again and again going back and forth.

"Alright Sergeant, that is Enough! Get the guys back together, call for a helicopter, we're bringing them all in and you....."

"Sir in the bushes"

Marcou looked to the soldier who was pointing off in the distance, he followed the soldier's finger to a large group of bushes about 200 feet away, then saw the glint shining off of something in the bushes.... a camera.

"GET TO THOSE BUSHES!" The team sprang to life, 2 of the soldiers and his partner running off towards the bushes as they started shaking, whoever it was, they were on the run now. Marcou and Leonhart both scrambled back to the cars and sped off down the road to circle around the large patch of trees. In the confusion no one stayed behind to watch over the "farmers" they all took off to get to camera.

(( Ok, didn't make any arrests in case some of these guys were important, the camera was a tv camera with a news crew in the bushes, they will get away and air it on TV, then the government will close the news stations, Marcou will be closing one of them with a team as my next post, this should help give credence to a revolution beginning. ))

OOC: You shouldn't have really found any weapons there, but it will speed things up a little. We'll just assume the Fucik got it's cargo to the guerrillas. Most of them are in the forests waiting right now, so it's ok.
IC: Mass'ti looked at Villi'jas alarmedly as the CP authorities ran off to catch the cameraman. Almost as if they were thinking the same thing the two ran into the house and returned a few seconds later with two AKMs each and passed the extra one to one of the CP guerrillas. Villi'jas was also carrying a backpack with ammunition, radio codes etc in it.
As the CP authorities reached the bushes where the camera man had been, four of the guerrillas left behind at the farm house took off running, followed shortly by Mass'ti after he had thrown a Molotov cocktail into the farm house. The men ran to the other side of the house, to put the house between them and the authorities and also to take the most direct route to the bivouac area.
Meanwhile at the bivouac area
Ge'VeraH looked worriedly towards the plume of smoke rising out of the horizon in the direction of the farm house. A couple of the CP guerrillas asked to be excused from the expedition and sent home, but were harshly reprimanded and ordered to go without food for two days.
As the plume rose harder Ge'VeraH ordered the men into ambush positions along the paths leading into the bivouac and posted scouts with walkie-talkies ( Military grade, not the ones children have ) at the edge of the forest to watch for approaching government troops. Whether he liked it or not, the revolution had begun ahead of schedule...

After a day's wait in the bivouac area and no sign of government troops, Ge'VeraH ordered the bivouac packed up/torn down. Once this task had been accomplished he sent his messenger Pombo to the CP capitol to make contact with the urban networks to get supplies and recruits moving. With Pombo on his way he ordered the men to march out and deeper into the forests. Forming into one large column they began marching to a predetermined location in the forests about 10 kilometres from a rural CP army garrison.
Throughout the 30 kilometre march the guerrillas laid groups of AP mines along the trails at 5-10 kilometre intervals to slow down any pursuers. After setting up camp the men once again went into ambush positions and awaited further supplies and recruits.
Ge'VeraH knew he must act soon and had already begun planning his first move. The first target of his campaign would be the rural garrison 10 kilometres to their northwest. The small 20 man garrison should be an easy victory, which is exactly what the guerrillas needed right now.
CP Capitol, Urban Network Safehouse
Pombo had arrived at the safe house the previous night and was only now hearing of the recent clamp downs on media and personal freedoms. Although he had been told to expect this, the violation of human rights shocked the young man, who had only been a young boy during the reign of Talaax's own dictator K'hal Garek.
As he sat there thinking a young woman, the keeper of this safe house, walked into the room.
Pombo: Ah, good, you're back. How many recruits do we have for Ernesto?
Woman: With a depressed look Only 15 and we have only enough weapons for 7 of them.
Pombo: But you assured us your countrymen would fight this war...
Woman: They will, but they still fear for their safety. I assure you that once you gain a foothold my countrymen will join you in droves.
Pombo: I hope so, for all of our sakes. I'll take them out of the city tonight. Have them brought here now so we can prepare efficiently.
Woman: Alright. Opens the door and turns back for a second Good luck.
With that the woman exited the room and Pombo went back to his silent contemplation, waiting for the recruits to arrive.

Immediately after arriving at the safe house the 15 new recruits were briefed on their obligations and the dangers. As they were about to leave for the forests Pombo gave each man a chance to back out with honour and suprisingly not one left. The urban network had managed to scrape up weapons for the men without any, but they were mostly hunting rifles.
Laden with supplies for their comrades in the forests the men loaded into a cargo truck and were smuggled out of the city to a prespecified position about 35 kilometres from the guerrilla camp. Using only a compass Pombo led the men deep into the forests. For the bulk of the trip there were no problems but about 5 kilometres from the guerrilla camp one man, an experienced hunter, reported he heard a strange noise in the forests to their left. Skeptical at first Pombo decided to take two men and investigate himself.
Creeping through the forest, AKM in hand Pombo began to hear voices in the bush ahead of them. He stopped the other men and listened carefully. The men infront of them, by the sound of it weren't CP ( I'm asuming CP citizens have a distinct accent for the purposes of this RP ), but neither were they Talaaxian...
Throwing caution to the wind Pombo stood completely upright an walked through the last couple of metres of brush. Immediately upon clearing the bushes he was met by several men in strange uniforms with automatic weapons leveled at him. But the uniforms weren't CP. Taking one more chance he spoke:
Pombo: Don't shoot! I'm Talaaxian! We are rendevousing with Ge'VeraH...
Hoping these men weren't CP special forces Pombo lowered his weapon and signalled for the other two men to show themselves.
OOC: Derto, these are your troops they've stumbled across. I'm just trying to get you a little more involved.

Pombo looked at the man for a second before responding.
Pombo: We aren't the main group. I am bringing recruits in from our urban networks. The other men are just on the other side of the brush. Follow us and we'll take you to the current main camp.
With that Pombo led the men to Ge'VeraH's main camp. After introductions and deployments of troops, it was decided to test the men under fire. Leaving 5 men behind at the camp Ge'VeraH led the men 10 kilometres to their northwest. Arriving in the forest around the rural army garrison around nightfall the men were ordered to rest for the night, the attack would come at day break.
At around 5 am the "officers" were awakened and briefed as to the plan.
Ge'VeraH: The plan is simple. Those of you who were with me in the civil war will remember something like it. I want Mass'ti and Villi'jas to take fifteen men and a light machine gun each. Mass'ti you will circle around to the right side of the garrison and set up your machine gun to cover the exit of the barracks building. Villi'jas you will take your men around the left side of the barracks and set up your machine gun to cover the main entrance and the two guards there. Myself and the rest of the men will set up the RPGs and heavy machine gun. About 30 minutes after the two of you leave we'll open fire with the RPG incendiary rounds on the barracks building along with heavy machine gun fire. Once we do that Villi'jas will take out the entrance guards and Mass'ti will eliminate any survivors of our attack on the barracks building. After ten minutes I will take my men and directly assault the garrison. Any questions?......No, good. Wake up the men and get in position.
Immediately after the men had gathered they set out through the forests to their designated positions. After exactly 30 minutes Ge'VeraH ordered the HMG and RPGs to open fire. Immediately four RPG round flew towards the barracks building, three of which scored direct hits. The RPG gunners reloaded and fired again just as the HMG and LMGs began to open fire.
OOC: The garrison is a small 100x100 metre enclosed camp with the usual mess hall, small firing range, barracks building and two supply stores. The garrison contains 20 men, most of which are asleep right now. CP and I have already agreed upon the results of this, but I'll let him RP the garrison's reaction to the attack.

Lieutenant Lanius was checking over the food and ammo rations in the northwest supply shed. He was the commander of the outpost, and was worried over the dwindling supplies, Command hadn't sent him a shipment in weeks and he was beginning to worry.

Suddenly he heard several loud explosions and he ran out into the base proper just in time to see the barracks building go up in flames. Several soldiers came running out, some just running, others engulfed in flames, but they were quickly chopped down by a machine gun somewhere in the woods outside the camp.

Things were continuing to get worse, only a handful of men weren't in the barracks and they were on patrol. He ran towards the firing range where he knew a light machine gun was always. He heard the patter of machine gun bullets slamming into the dirt behind him as he ran and jumped into the trench that marked the beginning of the firing range.

He was not the only one with this idea as two more soldiers jumped in a few seconds later, he also saw an additional two holding to the ground about 40 yards away, pinned behind a few boxes by the machine guns.
"Soldier help me move this thing" The private quickly responded and thye lifted the machine gun from it's position to facing the direction of the attack. Once set the soldier began to feed ammunition to it. The other soldier was firing off shots with his BM-59 rifle into the bushes where the machine gun was firing from.

"Alright good, Soldiers, get your assess in this hole now!" He shouted from the trench to the two soldiers pinned down. He began firing the machine gun spraying fire into the bushes to suppress the enemy machine gunner. The enemy gunner had gotten the message and stopped firing, the two soldiesr stood up and began running for the ditch. Then a blinding light and a heavy push launched Lanius back into the rear wall of the trench.

When he stood up he saw that several RPG's had fired at the soldiers and killed them. It was now hopeless, there were only 3 men left to defend against an overwhelming enemy. He traversed the machine gun back and forth raking the trees with fire but he could still see things moving. Then several people came from around the mess hall and began firing on the men in the trench. The two privates could handle them, they were beating away with their BM-59's but he was sure extra ammo was already gone. He saw the supply shed not too far from his position, if they could get there the explosives in it might turn things in their favor.

One of the privates had gotten that idea before him and was already hefting himself over the trench, just in time for 3 bullets to slice through him and he toppled back down. The remaining soldier threw down his rifle and Lanius thought he was about to surrender. But his eyes pulled him away from that soldier to a group of people charging out from the trees and through the broken perimeter fences. He looked from them to his machine gun, about 15 rounds, then back to the group, and for a moment recognized one of the faces, someone he had seen on a wanted poster in the mess hall.

Involuntarily he pulled back on the trigger and the gun began to spout it's last ammo, he fired into the group hoping to kill as many as he could. He lifted his finger once all he heard was clicking and without thinking turned to the rifle the soldier had dropped. He saw the soldier lying there dead, he had been killed while Lanius was firing. Lanius grabbed the BM-59 but just as he was pulling it up saw what looked like a stick thrown into the ditch, then all he saw was a bright flash and flames.......

Acheron, the Capitol....

Lt. Marcou stopped the car in front of a towering glassy building in Acheron, the headquarters of the nations premier News network KWPX. He got out of the car and straightened his jacket, along with him this time was a notice from the President's office and two six man teams of the ISF. He burst through the doors followed by these men and went directly to the receptionist's desk. "Hello dear, is your president available"

"I'm sorry sir, Mr. Actoee is not available" her eyes darting between him and the armed men in armor behind him "if you would like to set up an appointment I can...."

"Then where is he?"

"In the newsroom sir"

"Thank you, you've been so helpful" Marcou stepped away from the desk and walked over to the elevators, he heard her yell something about not being allowed up there and two security guards tried to step in his way, but were quickly butted away by two of the ISF soldiers. "Alright you two stay here, the rest of you get in one of the elevators" The soldiers piled into the elevators, not the best tactical decision but he thought taking all the time through the stairs wasn't so good. The elevator stopped on the 17th floor and he stepped out, the other elevator had arrived just on time too and the other team of ISF soldiers filed out.

He raised his hand, a document in it. "Alright everyone, this news station has been shutdown, a government team will come in and take your place for a limited amount of time"

A broad-shouldered, but greying man stood up from one of the panels. "You can't do this, this is violating our freedom"
"Wrong, I am doing this now please step aside, all of you go to the far wall"

"Like hell you are, this is about that tape isn't it? Yeah, you guys think you can just barge in and stop us, well I'm gonna run it right now" Anger stirred in Marcou's stomach, so it had been a TV camera crew that day in the feilds. He had chased them for more then a day but nothing had been found, at least he would keep his job. He dropped the document on the panel in front of him and pulled out his pistol. "Sir I advise you to put your hands in the air and move to the far wall"

"You can't stop me, all these cameras and people around you'd lose your job and your life if you pull that trigger" He kept moving towards a set of panels that featured VCR like machines, the tape was in one of those and he was going to play it live on TV.

"Sir, stand down and move to the far wall NOW!" He yelled at the man, but he just kept walking towards it.

The man stopped for a second and turned to him. "Go ahead, wanna stop me? Shoot me" He turned back around and kept walking towards it, then a loud bang came from behind him and he crumpled to the floor, a large hole in his back.

Marcou stood there a second, then moved the pistol towards the people still seated. They abruptly got up and stumbled there way over to the far wall where team 1 began handcuffing them.

"Team 2, clear the rest of the building and someone get......" He stopped as the elevator opened again, this time the governments broadcasters stepped out.

"Place is all yours"

"Thank you" one of the technicians said, they filled in the seats that were vacant and a rather nice looking blonde took the anchors seat. After a few moments they went live.

Gov't Women: "Good evening citizens of Canadian Princes, as of 5 O'clock this evening the President has declared a state of martial law following the murder of several soldiers in the rural areas surrounding the capitol. A full mobilization of the military has begun and they have begun to post patrols and guards on the streets of the major cities. All citizens are told tos tay indoors and not move, anyone disobeying voernment orders will be arrested immediately, thank you for your time"

They set it on an auto-repeat to make sure everyone heard it, around the clock until the situation was over. Marcou got a nod from one of the technicians signalling they had it from here, it was time to go back to HQ for a new assignment, he would probably be assigned to a team hunting the rebels.
14-09-2003, 22:54
The attack had gone well. The garrison was wiped out but Ge'VeraH had hoped to capture a few prisoners. Nonetheless the guerrillas had captured most of the supplies in the camp and had won a major morale boost. 7 Guerrillas lay dead along with the CP soldiers and two more were lightly wounded. One of the guerrilla's light machine guns had been disabled by a bullet in the center of the barrel and was abandoned.
Knowing there would soon be reinforcements in the area Ge'VeraH ordered the guerrilla camp packed up and marched his men 35 kilometres to the east and set up camp there. The next plan of attack was to ambush any enemy forces passing by near the camp. To detect enemy reinforcements as early as possible Ge'VeraH ordered round the clock two man recon patrols. In the next few days there would be more bloodshed.
14-09-2003, 23:59
(( OOC: Actually I thought you did want a prisoner, that is why I said there were 6 soldiers who weren't in the barracks, and only rped the death of 4 of them and the Lt.))

The President sat in the war room, Military generals and admirals all around him, they had spent the last few days discussing strategies. They had at their command over 1.3 million soldiers, but this was only frightening on paper. In truth most of these soldiers were either upholding martial law in the cities or marching to reenforce garrisons.

But they had a pretty good idea of where the rebel soldiers were marching, it had taken a few days but a report about farmers disappearing was guessed to be where the rebels once were. And they had attacked a small outpost near the Toronto-Halifax highway, a team of 50 was on the way there but it would take time. Now they guessed the rebels would want arms and supplies, not to mention any intelligence they could find. And only one place matched all this, Fort Bigone on the Halifax-Toronto highway. It was about 200 kilometers away from the reported areas of action and was shaping up to be the command center for the fight against the rebel faction. Currently it had a garrison of about 1,200 soldiers and over 46 vehicles including 6 M60 tanks and over 45 peices of artillery. Marching from Toronto to Ft. Bigone was an additional 3,500 troops and 60 peices of artillery to supplement the defenses and began operations against the rebels.

The area was fairly rural, the nearest city being Toronto which was quite far away, and the lack of modern planes or helicopters in the area or most of the nation for that matter would make it an infantrymans war. Those forces he was told could hold Bigone from any attack, and now it was up to him to get the second part of the job done.

The phone line was setup, and he was told the Centralis government was listening.

"Greetings, we have to thank you very much for your help, we have been able to at least stem the tide for a short while, but now the rebels have made their first move destroying one of our outposts. I have declared martial law and we have a plan to hold the rebels in one area. But we require more then money. We want weapons, trucks, helicopters, and help from your intelligence services to track these rebels and destroy them. We cannot tell you how desperate our situation is, if the rebels get out of the feilds and to a city, a major uprising could occur and we may not survive, do you want a hostile nation near you?"

(( Second OOC note: Ok, set what could be a battle up. And to give the supplier a lot to do I guess one of the Centralis ships sending me supplies could be threatened by a Svea Ridge ship, a sort of standoff for a bit, if this is too much or too off subject that's cool ))

EDIT: Ok, my editing feature isn't working well so had to make a new post.

Ok after discussion the troop numbers have been changed a bit. The overrall number has not gone down, 3,500 are still marching to reenforce the fort and began operations against the guerillas, but the actual numbers of troops in the Fort have been changed. There are now 600 troops in the fort, with the other 600 deployed in smaler outposts in the surrounding areas.

It just stayed there outside the CP coast, and then suddenly it started its engines and drove towards the coast, when there's only 500 metres left they increase propulsion and heads for a beach.
Where a normal fishing boat wouldn't go further but crash into the sand this boat continues up on the shore.

Three days or so after the successful attack on the garrison one of the surveillance patrols detected a company of CP troops ( about 120 men ) camped a few kilometres to the north of the guerrilla camp. With a little bit of map work and logical thinking Ge'VeraH was able to estimate with a good deal of accuracy the enemy's likely path through the forests. It was quickly decided that this company should be ambushed immediately and orders went out to the now two guerrilla columns.
In the past two days the guerrillas had been infused with more recruits, 30 of them had come from CP cities and another 10 had deserted from the army. With now, more than one hundred guerrillas Ge'VeraH decided to split the forces into two columns, one under his command and one under the command of Mass'ti. The commandos from Derto had been assigned to stay with Column 23, so named as to confuse the enemy.
The two columns set out that morning, with 55 men each and 500 metres seperating them. The two set up on either side of a road leading to Fort Bigone with about 500 metres seperating them. The plan was to let the first two platoons pass Column 9 then have both columns open fire on the first and last platoons with machine guns. This should trap the middle platoon ( three platoons to a company ) in between the two columns and hopefully destroy most of the other two platoons.
Along the edge of the road infront of Column 23 were several explosive booby traps to stop the enemy from charging up into the forests. The trap was set, all the guerrillas needed was the enemy to come down the road...

(( OOC Note: Yes it is true that I did miss the response from Centralis at first, but I did respond to it, check my posts on page 6 ))

Captain Arnold swiped at the kamikaze bugs flying into his face. For two days he hed lead Force Z through the woods surrounding Fort Bigone, a miserable assignment indeed. His time at the fort had been pleasurable, then these damn rebels had to start shooting, then Colonel Early had decided it best to deploy large forces of soldiers in the area to deter any attacks until the reenforcements arrived.

If he had only had taken that damn transfer he would be on the island of Kiu'she'a in whatever passed as "martial law" there. But he had stayed, and now he was wading through rivers, chopping through forests, and camping in mud, damn concious. The company was spread out in 2 staggered columns with another staggered column in the rear, he was walking with the right column.

Then he saw the columns abrubtly stop, the soldiers stopped down, signals coming down the line, something must be near. He made his way to the head of the line where Lieutenant Arkaw was kneeling behind some tall shrubs.
"Sir, Private Kynisch says he saw something moving in the woods ahead, most of us saw it too, and some soldiers have reported strange sightings in the area we've been walking through, someone might have already been here."

"Great, we could be surrounded by a couple thousand rebels and not even know it, have Sergeant Hammer deploy the machine guns in defensive positions but try to do it queitly, don't bother with the HMG's won't have time to set them up without making to much noise."

"Yes sir!" The Lieutenant then moved down the line and began to give the orders, a few minutes later he returned and nodded.

"Alright" He turned and pointed at the Lieutenant and 7 soldiers and pointed to the trees in front, blossoming formation.

The soldiers nodded then came up from a prone position to a stoop and went forward blossoming out, about 20 yards out the Leiutenant turned around to signal Arnold, then a clik was heard.............

OOC:CP, should I respond or should Talaax respond to your post?, couse I've got something that might interest you.

Just before the booby trap went off Ge'VeraH noticed the enemy troops taking up defensive positions. As he reached for the radio the booby trap exploded, killing anyone within about 5 metres.
Ge'VeraH: Damn it! *over the radio* Open fire, don't let them get into defensive positons!
Almost immediately all the guerrillas up and down the road opened fire on the still mostly exposed troops below. Rifle and machine gun rounds began to tear through the air around the soldiers below. Both guerrilla columns had three machine guns, one HMG and two LMGs, each one raking up and down the troops on the road below. The Talaaxian guerrillas were by far the most experienced of the guerrillas, each one having fought in the Talaaxian Civil War and having recieved Talaaxian military training. The 150 metres between them and the enemy troops was an easy shot.
Using a tree and a large rock for cover, Ge'VeraH fired single shots down range with his cherished M2 Carbine. He didn't know how many, if any guerrilla casualties there were, but he was sure the enemy was taking casualties. As he reloaded his rifle he felt a surge of confidence and he knew that this revolution would be a success. It was only a matter of time.
OOC: This is the turning point in the civil war, from this point on everything will go down hill.
Svea Riga - You should respond with your troops actions during the ambush.

(( This is another post for Centralis to respond too ))

The President sat at his desk, head buried in his hands, the last few days had been longer and harder. Rain had stalled the relief column heading to Fort Bigone, so it was still on it's own for sometime. Strange reports of a boat that drove into land were coming in from the main island, the forces in the area were slim but attempting to find it.

But today had brought some hope, his generals had given him some good news and a sound plan. First a ISF officer, Lt. Marcou, was said to be on the verge of uncovering the insurgents suppliers, linked to the major cities. With their support network out they could be easily isolated in the Fort Bigone area and destroyed. Now it was his time to put the final touch to the plan.

They needed more modern weapons and vehicles, the area was crawling with infantry, and the vehicles they had could not operate easily. So they were turning to their main supporter, who had been training their new soldiers and giving them money to purchase arms. Another request had been sent and he was told the Centralis government was thinking it over. But he needed more, so he was sitting at his desk, pen on the desk beside a peice of paper addressed to the Government of Centralis.

To: Centralis
From: President of Canadian Princes

First, I would like to thank you for your support, it has been invaluable in keeping our problems contained. But things are moving much faster now and we need a lot more. Our Army is underarmed, most of our equipment is outdated and not much better then the rebels, we require modern arms, and lots of them. Second, our soldiers in the areas where the rebels are most present are mostly foot infantry, to effectively close a trap on the rebels we need trucks and jeeps to move supplies and soldiers to encircle them.

Now those are the things we need to take out this particular rebel group, but we require something else, a lot more discreet. Our forces are spread far too thin to break up there urban support network, and even martial law doesn't stop it enough. We ask you to send some of your most elite troops to help our soldiers take down their support network in one swoop. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this.

Sincerely,
President of Canadian Princes

(( Ok, you can rp the troops with Lt. Marcou taking down the guerilla support, and if you want to send some to help in the final battle, that would be fine too ))

Arnold watched in horror as the Leiutenant and his advance team were blown apart. His ears were still ringing when he heard several more explosions behind him, turning around he saw fire raking up and down the line of soldiers behind him, an ambush!

He was still forming a strategy in his mind when three bullets cracked through the bush in front of him, this wasn't good cover. He scanned over the soldiers he could see, about 1/4 of his forces were hit or dead, but the others were re-organizing themselves, the light machine guns that were set up returning fire into the trees around the dirt road. He looked beside him, perfect! There were two ditches, not very deep but sufficient, that were used to make rainwater drain off into them to limit the mud.

"Sergeant Hammer! Get the men into those ditches, set up the Heavy Machine guns now!" He grabbed a soldier beside him and dragged him down into the ditch with him, then when he looked at him he realized the soldier had been hit four times in the chest, but was still alive.
"Medic! Man down" The bullets began racketing off the dirt in front of him, he looked up seeing the guerillas moving in the forests around him. He looked back over his troops, good the living were now in the ditches on the ground returning fire, but the battle was still not in their favor. He turned back to the guerillas in front of him and raised his M14 and began to fire into the woods at anything he saw moving.

As he was firing he began to hear the Heavy machine guns opening up, this was good, with that going the Guerillas wouldn't risk a frontal assault. He continued firing into the wooded areas, but everything he fired seemed to come back three times as worse, two soldiers around him had been shot in that last return. Then he heard an explosion and spun around, the heavy machine gun had exploded and was inoperative. Damn weapons, he could only guess how old even his rifle was, they had not been assigned newer weapons but Command said they were on the way, but that didn't help him now.

He got up to a stoop and ran down the ditch past the riflemen to the near end of the line, but something seemed missing, like soldiers. And he heard the firing pick up in intensity, looking over his shoulder he saw a large body of guerilla's were coming out of the woods with the machine gun out of commision, the right line might not hold. He remembered why he come back here and found Corporal Henderson. "Corporal, get on the radio and cal...."

"Already ahead of you sir, and sir, Leiutenant Axel reports the rear column stopped behind us and is not engaged, they are forming up to split into two forces and surround the guerillas that are surrounding us, then we push the ones in front of us"

"Great news, now just guide that support in" Referring to what he had come for. If he could hold his forces here for a bit longer Lieutenant Axel would smash into the flank of the rebels. He saw the guerrillas still moving towards the line, he began to fire at them but they kept charging towards those troops, grenades now tearing giant holes in his line. Damn it, the line wasn't going to hold, then he heard bullets patting into the dirt behind him and he remembered there were mor rebels in the woods, Leiutenant Axel might come in to face the rebels in our own position.

The rebels were getting closer when he heard it, the long whine then a blossoming explosion further behind the rebels, not good range. Then another whine, and another, the first once again overshoot but the second landed dead center at the rebels, he watched as some were blown clear over the right ditch onto the road. He shook his hand in victory, there was a nearby firebase with 3 105MM howitzers that Corporal Henderson had called in support from, this stopped the rebels long enough for the second HMG to be deployed, and he doubted they would risk another attack.

"Great work corporal, now call that firebase and tell them to cease fire, they might hit Leiutenant Axel's forces."

"Yes sir" The corporal got on his radio talking to the firebase commander.

Arnold looked over his forces again, less then half of his men were still shooting, he couldn't risk a charge at the guerillas until he was sure Axel was winning, so now he would wait. He heard the distant cracks of riflefire that was further away then the rebel positions, it was Axel now beginning to clamp down on them. Things were looking up now, he raised his rifle again and fired the last remaining rounds in his rifle at a rebel in the forward line and began to reload.................

Chief heared the highpitched screams of incoming mortars before the fell to the ground.
-DOWN!! , he gets down and smell the sour jungle dirt. As the mortar round explode he lifts up and slams back inte the ground.
-Move boys! We gotta take out middle squad! Frogleap!
The commandos starts to advance, some laying down cover fire for their comrades and the other advancing, finding and starts to give cover fire for their comrades and so on.
They succeds in advancing and even punching a hole in the enemy's line. Then they dig in and give cover fire for the guerillas so they can advacne and use this little breakthrough to maximum.

OOC: This should be considered back-dated to before CP's latest message to Centralis.

IC: "Then you'll be pleased to hear, Mr. President, that all of that can be supplied under the regualtions currently in place. If you could transmit a precise list of your needs to our Foreign Aid Department, we can have it on it's way very rapidly."

OOC: Just post a rough list of what you'd want, and assume it's approved and on it's way via ship - and the idea for a standoff between the arms ships and Svea Riga seems a good one. There'd be some light anval vessels escorting them, but nothing heavy.

OOC2: This is the response to the latest message.

IC: Reply from the Centralis International Affairs Ministry:

Your requests has been considered and approved. A large quantityof military-grade transport vehicles should be on it's way to you via ship with 24 hours, along with more modern weapons - as many as you need.

Regarding the issue of troops, we agree as to the necessity of sending them, and thus they will be despatched ASAP. They will come in on unmarked transport planes purchased from neutral thrid parties to mask their origin, and will be instructed to land at miltiary airfields only - please maintain utmost security to ensure that word of their arrival does not get out. The troops to be sent will include those from the Raven Guard, Condor Battalion, and the Ghost, Phantasm, Wraith Divisions, specialising in both rural and urban counterinsurgency and a variety of anti-subversive tactics, such as the infiltration of opposition movements and the arts of assassination. They will be under the overall command of Brigadier-General Esmerelda Felderbaum, one of our top experts on counterinsurgency, and will be under isntructions to co-operate with your forces to the fullest extent possible. Once we have the matter of landing groudns cleared up, they should be there within hours.

The panzerboat as he called it was quite agile for being a tank in the jungle, the commander thought.
The HMG and TOW-missile stations were set up onboard the tank, it wouldn't stop a tank regiment but from what he heard the pathertic CP army wasn't much for a resistance.
But they had guns, and guns can kill people, and for this mission he needed every last man.
"Halt" he screamed when sudden explosions and gunfire was heard.
"Get position and satelite uplink" he screamed, everyone to battlestations.
The few men onboard (about 25) runned to their stations there were 7 HMG, 2 light ones, 3 TOW-missile station and 1 auto-grenade launcher.

They set 3/4 spead ahead and after a couple of minutes they could spot figuers shooting and some taking cover in the jungle.
They saw wich ones were guerillas and wich were ordinary military.
"Open fire" the commander shouted pointing at the group of men runing towards the battle.
5 of the HMG were pointed forward and they opened fire...

-Sir, I don't think it's a CP tank, it's firing at the CP military.
-Well who the ever got it, I could kiss he's pinky ring as thanks. Shit, mortar DOWN!
The mortar explodes...
Chief sees the sky go dark, and thinking "This is not right, it's midday not

"Chiefs dead, kill those SOBs for him!!"

OOC: Just to fill everyone in, the guerrillas are supposed to lose this one. By down hill, I meant downhill for the guerrillas.
IC: Everything was going well until the centre platoon began advancing towards the guerrillas. The platoon alone wasn't enough to challenge the entire guerrilla force but it did have more troops than the now depleted Column 9 ( OOC Comment: I'm going to have your Lt. Axel advancing on Mass'ti's men so Ge'VeraH can survive to start the "chase" ). Mass'ti was beginning to get flustered, his men were dying and now this new threat had shown itself. Always the gambler, Mass'ti decided to mount a charge towards the new platoon. The numbers were about even, so it had a 50/50 chance of success. Not good odds, but if it did succeed he'd be a hero. So, in the name of the revolution, but mostly for his own glory, Mass'ti ordered the charge and the men began charging down the hillsides into the enemy positions.

Further up the line Ge'VeraH's men were winning. The ambush might be a success. But then he saw it, down the line the guerrillas were mounting a charge. It was foolish at best and suicidal at worst. Ge'VeraH picked up the radio and began to shout orders to stop charging into it, but the orders fell on deaf ears. Mass'ti had left his radio behind. Ge'VeraH could do nothing but watch and hope...
OOC: Mass'ti is to be defeated and Ge'VeraH forced to retreat. Derto and Svea Riga, you guys will be responsible for withdrawing your own troops once Ge'VeraH begins retreating. This is the beginnning of the end of the guerrilla force. If everything stays on schedule the RP will be over by Sunday night.

Corporal Henderson jumped from ditch to ditch to get to the forward end of the line. Things were good and bad at the same time. Axel had smashed into the rebels on the right and the guerillas there could not hold, but on the left some kind of armored vehicles had appeared, firing at the soldiers pinned down in the rain ditch. He didn't believe it would annoy them for long, he had seen two soldiers with Carl Gustav Anti-tank weapons dashing into the woods, probably to hit it in the rear with the heavy round. To add to this once they hit the tank with their weapons a flight of 2 outdated Typhoons were to fly over. This was the only air support in the area and once they dropped their 8 bombs they would have to leave, so he had to make sure they hit the tank.

He turned back when he heard and onrushing scream, the rebels that had been flanked were now screaming towards the line. He fired off his BM-59 into the oncoming rush, the Heavy Machine gun and supporting Light Machine gun were ripping holes into the rebels. He could hear Axels forces still pushing them forward, rifles firing. The wave of rebels finally came out of the treeline and smashed into the ditch forces. Things dissolved to close hand-to-hand. Some soldiers dropped their weapons and began to use their fists or rifles as blunt weapons, he kept his rifle raised, firing at anyone that came near him.

One guerilla had forced his way past two other CP soldiers killing them, and was coming at him. The guerilla had an air about him the same as Lieutenant Axel had when around, this man had to be a leader. The man came at him with some kind of stick, or maybe rifle, he couldn't tell, but Henderson threw up his BM-59 parrying the blow then slid the butt down into the mans face. The man fell backwards dropping the weapon, and while Henderson recovered and prepared for another blow, the man fumbled about a bit and took out a pistol.

At this Henderson let out a scream and charged at him, the rest was a blur, he heard two loud cracks and searing pain in his thighs, then he felt his BM-59 hit something, without thinking he pulled back the trigger and several bullets ripped into the man's chest. Henderson began to revive himself, still blury, he was hit, bleeding in the ditch as the last of the rebel attackers were being killed. The man he had shot appeared to still be breathing, but he would die any moment now.

Then he saw Arnold run up to him. "Henderson, you alright son?"

"Sir.......yes sir"

"Good, tell those typhoons to bomb that tank now, heavy forest cover so give them the coordinates and pray they are right, the Typhoons won't be able to see it clearly until they are over it and they are not going to dive-bomb it."

"Yes sir" Arnold ran off somewhere and Henderson hefted the radio off his back, still bleeding he began to manipulate it to the right frequency, time to make some things go boom.

Column 9 had been mostly wiped out and Column 23 was taking casualties. This battle had been lost and Ge'VeraH knew it. He picked up the radio beside him and took cover.
Ge'VeraH: *over radio* This battle is lost! Retreat with all the men you can find. Rendezvous 5 kilometres to the north-east. Move now!
With that he shoved the radio into his backpack and ran back into the woods shouting to follow him. The guerrillas began to retreat, some laying down covering fire, but most just running with Ge'VeraH. Ge'VeraH didn't expect the army forces to follow them right now as they would be dealing with their wounded. ( OOC: And they won't until the next day )
A half hour after giving the order to retreat, 38 men had redezvous'd at the specified point. All but two had come from column 23. Ge'VeraH decided not to waste any time and ordered the men to move out in a south-easterly direction. The men marched until nightfall, covering 23 kilometres, then set up camp for the night. Lighting a fire was forbidden so the guerrillas had to resort to eating canned food. The next day would be full of challenges. Before turning in for the night Ge'VeraH sent off a message to the main safehouse in the capitol.
Ge'VeraH: We suffered a defeat today. Many casualties taken. We need supplies and reinforcements. Send them to us ASAP. We cannot hold out much longer. We expect the army to pursue us tomorrow. We will attempt to be at the number 2 designated meeting point at co-ordinates 225, 113. We hope to see you there.
OOC: CP you can track that transmission to the safehouse and use it as a pretext for raiding it. Also tomorrow we'll have a brief firefight between the two sides then the next day you can ambush the guerrillas at the meeting point. From there the guerrillas will be surrounded in a 10 square kilometre area then we'll pick up on the plan for capture.
17-09-2003, 02:06
(( Ok, got it, I'll persue with Infantry and the firefight will happen, but I'll be waiting for the Centralis ship laden with trucks and jeeps to arrive, after their standoff with the Svea Ridge ships. I'll focus on the safehouse takedowns, Centralis I'll be using 2 CP Teams to take down the main safehouse and one other, CP Intell has located 7 more, which I leave for you to rp your forces breaking into the safehouses ))

Marcou stood before the crowd in the darkened room. This was the third time today he was repeating the near same mission breif. The odd thing about these breifings was the newly arrived men, for the longest time he had not been told who they were, but upon his promotion to captain after his intelligence discovery, he was let in. They were from the nation of Centralis, rumors flew around about them. Some people said that was a cover, they were really mercenaries, others said they were a shadow organization in the governmentp, but he didn't really care at this point.

The room darkened and a map of Acherons center came up, the Command building and Presidential offices highlighted in dark blue, but there were also several places highlighed in yellow.

"Welcome everyone, first, a catch up on recent events for all of you. The rebels on the Main island have been really acting up, an outpost was destroyed, and recently we've received word that a column was ambushed, no one is sure what exactly happened out there. But the Government has a plan, and we are the crucible to it. We've been monitoring transmissions to and from various points inside our nation to other nations, we've been able to catch most of them and thier headings, but exactly where they came from we can only guess. With these leads we began to monitor these houses, and follow the occupants around. From that we identified at least 5 other safehouses, and this afternoon the lynchpin came in and we identified easily the largest safeouse we believe there to be."

"There are 17 safehouses spread through the nations, with at least 9 of these in Acheron. So, I will be leading a team into the main one, supported by a team of our....... freinds. Another ISF team will take down the one in the northwest sector of Acheron, and our friends will take down the rest of them, supported by ISF and Acheron Police forces. These will all be coordinated to go down at approximately the same time, but with forces being told to do this on four seperate islands over hundreds of miles nothing is foolproof. So move as quickly as you can when you get the message. Our objective is to take the safehouses down, but try to capture whoever and whatever you can. But do NOT touch anything in there until it has been cleared for explosive traps."

"Understood?"

The room in unison "Yes sir"

"Alright, start to get geared up, we're moving out soon. Dismissed."

The men in the room filed out leaving Marcou lone in the room except for one man in a darkened corner. He could tell it was one of the mysterious Centralis soldiers. Marcou nodded to him then left the room.

A few minutes after Marcou had declared the briefing over, Brigadier-General Felderbaum met up with her immediate subordinates to begin making more exact plans for the raids.

"Right, so..." she began, "given the conditions, the Raven Guard should probably stay out of this - you guys are more into rural than urban stuff. Ditto for the Condors - you're good at hunting guerillas through lightly populated areas, but not at fighting in cities."

There were mumbles of agreement from the other officers.

"That leaves the Ghosts, Wraiths and Phantasms. Now, the exact plans will have to vary for each location, but this should be a good basic one.

"Firstly, the Phantasms will discreetly take up positions around the safe-houses, armed with sniper rifles, and an array of non-lethal weaponry such as sonic pulsars. They wil keep the buildings udner observation and prevent anyone from escaping.

"Next, the Wraiths will move into positions where they'll be able to attack from cover with an element of surprise. Once they're in position, the Ghosts will arrive via police helicopter, and they and the Wraiths, along with the CP forces, will storm the safehouses and do as Marcou ordered. I'll let each unit commander pick and choose who to send where; you can adapt this plan as you see fit, depending on the circumstances. Now, get moving."

The officers nodded, saluted, then hurried off to get their units organised for the operation.

Captain Marcou ran across the busy street in the heart of Acheron to a brown apartment complex that stood between two slightly larger greyish buildings. As he entered the first floor he shed his outer coat to reveal a Police riot uniform and MP5, he was followed by 7 other agents who likewise shed thier guises. He had seen the Centralis soldiers going in the back alley to come in on the second floor of the safehouse.

Months of radio traffic and attacks had led them here, and now they were going to take down the rebels command and control. His team would break into the third floor room of the safehouse, while the Centralis soldiers would take down the fourth floor room to seal off any attempts at escape. His team ran up the stairs and arrived in the hallway, only two doors were on this floor, one to the safehouse another to a storage room.

The team fanned out on both sides of the door, whiel one soldier went to the front and with his hands firmly on the battering ram swang it back and slammed it into the door breaking it open. Th team then flooded in, each soldier in charge of a specific area. The occupants of the room were obvoiusly surprised, and the closest to the door were already down and being flexi-cuffed. A man in the far room got up to head for the back and broke into a run, Marcou raised his weapon and pulled the trigger, a beanbag flew out of it striking the man in the back and dropping him.

In under two minutes the room was secure, the occupants under arrest, and the bomb teams on the way up to begin an extensve search for booby traps. He heard the Centralis soldiers in the floor above securing it, and at this time teams all over the country were repeating the same attack on all the safehouses................

"Ghosts ready, all targets."

As she listened to the reports coming in over the secure communciations network, Felderbaum kept her eyes on the timer which was counting down to the planned attack time, now approaching zero.

'Right on schedule...'

She picked up the transmission microphone.

"Brigadier-General Felderbaum to all units: attack at will. Don't let any of them get away."

* * *

A few heartbeats after Felderbaum's transmission had been received, sleek police helicopters - recently sent from Centralis to help modernise Canadian Princes law enforcement - swept down over the two safehouses, some landing on the roof, others on the streets around them. As they landed and their cargoes of CP police and Centralis commandos piled out, the Wraiths swarmed from their hiding places around the building and joined them, surrounding the building and heading for the entrances. Meanwhile, more Ghosts were emerging on the roof and would be moving in from above. There would be no escape from these attacks.

"Not much, sir," someone replied, but we've been picking up some anomalies on sonar - things in the water that aren't marked on the charts. It's hard to tell, and it could be nothing, but it could be something important."

Butler sighed; his hopes of a trouble-free voyage were fading by the moment.

"Yes, it could be nothing, but if I know my luck it won't be. Someone tell the other ships to raise their alert status, and start sending out ASW helicopters to patrolthe waters around us. I don't like surprises."

The guerrillas had been on the run now for almost two months. In an attempt to avoid government troops, Ge'VeraH led the small band of twenty guerrillas down into a small ravine. Unbeknownst to the guerrillas government troops were taking up position around the ravine as they began to enter it.
The ravine, about 200 meters long and 100 meters wide, was covered by bushes and boulders but provided lots of cover. The guerrillas made their way carefully through the ravine, peering up into the early-morning light to the top of the ravine in an attempt to see any enemy troops. About halfway through the ravine a man in the center of the guerrilla column saw what had to be a man on the edge of the ravine and shouted out to the others. Almost immediately gunfire began to erupt from the sides of the ravine and started ripping into the guerrillas. The guerrillas scrambled for cover.
Ge'VeraH took cover behind a boulder, carefully returning fire with his cherished M2 Carbine. After about five minutes of fighting the guerrillas were split up, with a group of seven men including Villi'jas, escaping into the surrounding forest. The other seven men, including Pombo and Ge'VeraH were now trapped in the ravine by a company of government troops. After another ten minutes of fighting, just as Ge'VeraH was about to fire another shot his M2 was struck in the center of the barrel by a bullet and was disabled. Now armed only with a pistol Ge'VeraH and Pombo made one last ditch effort to escape.
The two began running up the side of the ravine, but after only a few meters Ge'VeraH was struck in the right thigh by a machine gun bullet. Despite being hit, Ge'VeraH, with Pombo's help continued to limp up the side of the ravine. About three quarters of the way up the ravine the two were stopped by a gunshot into the air in the bushes beside them. A couple seconds later a Canadian Princes corporal stepped out of the bushes and leveled his rifle at Ge'VeraH and Pombo.
Ge'VeraH: Don't shoot! I am Ernesto Ge'VeraH! I'm worth more to you alive!
Corporal: Drop your pistol "Ge'VeraH"! *over his shoulder* Sir! I have two prisoners over here!
A few seconds later a Lieutenant stepped out of the bush and smiled broadly as he saw Ge'VeraH. After going through Ge'VeraH's pockets and finding several watches, a few thousand dollars in various foreign currencies and ammunition, the Lieutenant marched Ge'VeraH and Pombo to his superior.
Ge'VeraH and Pombo were loaded onto a helicopter with the corpses of seven of their comrades and flown to Fort Bigone. After arriving the two were locked up seperately.
The Next Day
After hours of interrogation, Ge'VeraH was informed that he was to be executed and had a half hour to make peace. Not a religious man, Ge'VeraH simply say silently on a small wooden chair in the room and waited. Twenty-five minutes later a few shots rang out nearby. Pombo had just been executed.
Five minutes later a young private entered the room, a rifle in his hand. After a few seconds of silence Ge'VeraH looked the man in the eyes and said "Shoot coward. You're only going to kill a man". The private than fired three shots into Ge'VeraH's chest, killing him instantly.
For the next few days Ge'VeraH's body lay "in state" for all local people to see.

After a few days Ge'VeraH, Pombo and their seven comrades were buried in an unmarked mass grave in the forests surrounding Fort Bigone. No official CP government acknowledgement of the capture, execution or burial of Ge'VeraH was given.

The failure and death of Ge'VeraH shook the Talaaxian government and military to the core. It was realised that the policy pursuing revolution at every turn simply wasn't feasible. The events of the past year would have profound effects on Talaaxian society.
Villi'jas and the six other survivors of the ill fated guerrilla venture were eventually exfiltrated from CP and returned to Talaax. Villi'jas was quietly named Hero of the Revolution. The title was also posthumously awarded to Pombo and Mass'ti and to Ge'VeraH for a second time.
The announcement of Ge'VeraH's death has still to be announced publicly, but is expected soon. The whereabouts of Ge'VeraH's body is not known and may never be. He will never be forgotten.
