The space station Growly's core module has been launched from an Energia K407-807DTX rocket and is now entering a high orbit. The subsequent modules are still being designed, and only the next 2 modules have started construction, the purpose of the station will be for an orbital lab, and to support military operations, such as the refueling/repair of our Wraith and Hammer head fighters. We expect construction will go faster once we purchase a pre-built or choose to design our own space shuttle as we are only using soyuz type space craft for large cargo and large numbers of space station crews/ maintaince personell. I will be posting pictures, specs and more info in this thread as our project progresses.

The 2nd module has been completed
http://spaceflightnow.com/news/9912/10spacehab/991210enterprise-2.jpg
This service module contains auxillary communications life-support, engines and power systems. It will be launched by shuttle soon to be connected with the core module already on orbit.

The first lab module should be completed next year. It contains a science lab and sleeping quarters.

We Rationalist Earthlings are very impresed by your space station. Whilst we are a very new nation we would be delighted to supply you with toilet fittings for this and any other project that you may have. And we have the most competitive prices on anti-radiation 'cosmic cosmetics too. How about a contract for mugs and T-shirts??

A large derelict probe floats slowly through the blank space. Then it impacts an asteroid. A piece of it is broken off,but it starts spinning in an uncrontallable manner. It spins away from the asteroid, building speed, and heading for a small space station...

(Sorry,I just think it needs some tense stuff and tragedy involved, because either the crew destroys the probe, or the probe impacts the spaceship and destroys it)

A single SA-43 Hammerhead fighter is launched on notice from an X-ray telescope that an unkonw object is coming in on a collision course. The hammer head fires its weapons disintergrating the object into several small pieces. Three of four space based lasers target and further destroy the frmagements into dust. The ground controllers notice a fine misty rain going by the cameras of the Growly. There is no damage to report, the shuttle launch is still going off as scheduled.

The space shuttle "Asshole" has been launched with the docking module.
http://www.gotoflorida.net/img/see-a-space-shuttle-launch.jpg

After launch the docking node was released and automaticly docked with the lab module
http://www.cnn.com/2000/TECH/space/01/05/space.station.01/modules.large.jpg

Then the shuttle retrived the 2 new modules and connected them with the robot arm to the core and service module of the growly.

Some minor maintance, assmebly and a little construciton needs to be done then the crew will transfer supplies to the station and return to earth. The first 3 man crew will come up in an X-38 (once it is built) atop a titanII rocket and dock with the station next year.

The titanII rocket carrying the first production version of the -SX-38A CRV has exploded on its first test-launch. Millions of dollars in flight data instruments have been destroyed as have the hopes of our space agency to bring the first crew on board next month. We have decided to retire all remaining titanII rockets, we will continue to use the titan 4 and titan centaur rockets for larger cargo but we are now seeking to develop a new mid-size rocket. The SX-38B will be launched from one of our shuttles ->

for now, until we develop the new rocket. Luckily the SX-38A was not manned at the time of the explosion.

The space shuttle "Tits" has been launched succesfuly.

Once on orbit the "Tits" released the space vehicle "nipple 1" aka SX-38B into a parallel orbit with the Growly.

A solid soft-seal dock was achieved at 01:05 GMT and the 3 astronauts boarded the station to begin occupying it.

The first science lab experiment will be conducted in 4 months when the next module and 2 additional crew members come up on board the shuttle "EL-29-Alpha"
09-09-2003, 12:02
Last year the EL-29 completed its mission and everything is procedeing nicely. After 2 titan centaur rocket launches and the "Tits" last shuttle mission the station now has an additonal lab module and large habitation quaters. The shuttle "Asshole" has docked with the station (shown below)
http://www.hyperreal.org/~mike/x-38/x-38.jpg
and exchanged crew members, taking off 3 old and putting on 5 new crew. One of the new crew members is the first Islamaisbad woman astronaut (her name will not be released do to privacy issues) Currently we have 16 of our citizens in space at one time, a record for our space program. with the extra hands availble, the station commander has enlisted all but 2 astronauts into a massive space-walk operation in which construction, maintance and improvements to the Growly are being made. With the next 2 titan launches, the station will revieve its final life support/hab module and a combination lab and space construction module. Hopefully the final module will give the station the abiltiy to repair satelites, shuttles and fighters in orbit. The next shuttle mission will be launched in 4 months with some minor resupply and to exchange 2 crew members, also on board the next shuttle will be the final docking module that will allow fighters to dock with the station. One final note, two of our KH-11 keyhole equivalent spy satelites will be docking automusly to the station, one will be pointed out at space, and act as an extra telescope the other will focus on the earth surface, to monitor our.. crops and weather patterns.. yeah that's the ticket.
13-09-2003, 04:05
After a few additional launches and shuttle missions, the Growly is now 100% completed and operational. Now only re-supply, crew transfer and improvements will be launched periodicaly.
We now plan to maintain 1 Wraith fighter attached to the station 24/7 as well as 1 or 2 pilots and exactly 7 astrounauts who will run experiments and maintaince.
21-09-2003, 04:06
Station crew is now 3 pilots and 8 astronauts. 2 SX-38s are docked as is one SF-43 Hammerhead and one SF-17 Wraith. Several imporvents have been made including the additon of a refurbished topaz-2 nuclear reactor and new "electric rockets" to provide stabilization instead ofthe old nitrogen thrusters. Also a radio telescope and exposed labaorty have been added. Today, onboard 2 shuttles and a titan-centaur rocket, the exposed repair facility (in three parts) was launched. the shuttle missions are simply delivery and only are carrying 2 pilots each. The EL-29 will be launched in 1 week (ns time) and link the three modules (two will already be docked together) to the spacestation at the new docking and expansion module. the exposed repair facilty will allow: in space repair of the SX-38s, SF-17s, SF-43s and the EL-29. An expansion to the ERF will allow large satelites (like our space lasers) and the larger 2 shuttles to be repaired as well. when the expanison is completed and launched in a shuttle misson next year, the station growly will have the capabilty to capture and asseble space station modules, rockets, satelites and space probes.

The Dictatorship of Stap can offer its services in any way possible
24-09-2003, 05:19
We are not sure what assitance you could offer, or what we would need...

The Growly is now assembleing rockets on a regular basis and will soon take the adddition of a new crew module, extra power module and a large additon to allow machining of NEW parts in orbit, perhaps we will construct more Wraiths in this neworbital facility.
26-09-2003, 04:59
LAST BUMP AND NOTE:
We put a laser on the station, its secret... it would be used for shooting down ICMBS or missiles fired at the station
We also put 2 launchers holding 3 modifed SAM missiles on the station, and there are provision for up to 5 MIRV warheads that would be jettisoned toward earth for a suprise attack we havent put nukes up there yet.... ALSO this is OOC so noone knows about it..
18-10-2003, 19:58
A new hab and docking module has been installed adding support for 4 more crew and 2 more fighters, and an additonal SX-38 is now permantly docked to the station as well.
We are also going to put something simmilar to a Phalanx CIWS turret on either end of the station. We are constructing a 25mm 8 barrel pressurized machinegun which puffs compressed CO2 every time a bullet is fired to totally counteract the force encountered in the low grav environment of high earth orbit. We intend to use a specialized ammunition that has been developed by another nation.
25-10-2003, 19:44
The Growly will be the launch site for a new manned deep space probe, mars will be the target, the mission is to take orbital scans of the surface and report back. A robot lander will take video and samples back to the spacecraft.
