Hi, I'm Julia Rodriguez for Channel 5 News at Nine with today's top stories. Agnostican athletes have medaled at the Olympics. A massive heat wave washes over the southern half of the Apostasian Hegemony. A lethal crackdown on illegal immigration hits Longhorn Isle, Intisar's Queen Intessa is seen at an Evanescence concert and the local sports teams are heating up as the International Basketball Tournament heads into the qualifying rounds.

In a surprising development, earlier today, Longhorn Isle military forces erected a nation spanning electrical fence along the country's borders. At approximately 9am this morning, the fence was turned on and the Isle's new illegal immigration policy went into effect. A short speech in the capital city of Isala, announced the intentions of Dictator for Life Jose-Miguel Escobedo.

"Today we see a NEW Longhorn Isle. One where nobody comes into this country without permission. If you do not have a work visa, passport and travel visa or are here on a diplomatic mission, then you will be removed from my country by any means possible. Do not defy me in this. Any persons attempting to cross the border will be warned twice and then forcibly prevented from entering the country. This is the case with aircraft as well. We have mounted radar towers and watch towers all along the border with surface to air missiles and anti-aircraft batteries.

For too long has our society been flooded with those who wish to gain work but not pay the taxes of the country. There are those who undercut the hard work of our native peoples by offering to work for less. NO LONGER! It shall not be tolerated and anyone seen as taking a job away from an Islander will be imprisoned!"

As further proof to Mr. Escobedo's new policy, five boatloads of immigrants were found off of the coast of Longhorn Isle early this evening and told to go back to wherever they had come from.

Camera picture changes to the massive form of a Longhorn Isle naval vessel sitting in the water, lined with sailors on the decks. In the water off of the bow are three boats lashed together and then lashed to two big yellow school busses with tires and flotation devices on either side, making it a huge platform for over 250 people, men women and children.

"Illegal immigrants, turn back from your present course immediately. You are not welcome here! You have no diplomatic status as refugees. You are in violation of Longhorn Isle sovereign waters. Turn away now or this will be construed as an act of invasion."

On the boat, numerous people start waving frantically, others begin to pray and beg. One stands up with a megaphone.

"Longhorn Isle! Please... we come in peace. We come only to live with you and join your great nation. We flee from a corrupt regime and beg of your leniency. Please, let us pass. We will pay you to let us go. We have over five-hundred thousand dollars if you will let us pass! Please, we cannot go back!"

"Turn away, now! You will not be accepted into this country. You are an affront to whichever nation whence you came. If you do not turn away, I repeat, we will treat this as a hostile act."

"WE CANNOT TURN BACK! LET US IN!"

Aboard the vessel, the forward gun depresses and fires a single warning shot into the water behind the ragtag fleet, showering them with water.

"Turn away or we will open fire!"

"NO! We will not turn away! You will not hurt us in front of the world you wil..." CRACK! The megaphone explodes as a single bullet blasts through the center and shatters the man's skull in a spray of blood. There is instant silence as both sides digest what has happened and then the massacre begins.

The five-inch deck gun roars to life, blasting ten quick shots into the collage of ships, instantly destroying the majority of the structure, sending people all over the place as they are thrown by the explosions or dive clear of the attack. The CIWS above the bridge suddenly whirrs to life as well, sounding like a harsh growl as it unloads at 6200 rounds-per-minute into the bodies, pulping them and geysering water and blodd into the air. Within minutes it's all over and the destroyer's engines hum to life, pushing her past the massacre.

As we can see, Longhorn Isle means business. This horror has been comitted under the sanction of Dictator for Life Escobedo and definitely changes foreign policy within the region. Already there have been reports of embassies closing in Longhorn Isle and many messages of displeasure for the actions of Mr. Escobedo. We promise to keep with this story as updates occur throughout the following days.

The Weegies deplore your violent tactics to curb a problem which was probably generated by harsh immigration laws in the first place.

The Weegies issue a statement saying that they will provide a haven for anyone fleeing from hatred or persecution. The Weegies wish to be known as a nation where anyone can live in safety.

We deplore the actions of Longhorn Isle and will offer sanctuary in Goobergunchia to any refugees that wish to enter.

We understand the need for immigration control, however we do not condone the actions of Longhorn Isle in this matter. This was simply too much. There was no need to massacre these innocents who were simply trying to immigrate to a new country. Perhaps accoutned for once they landed, but they did not deserve to be slain.

If further actions occur of this type, we will have to re-evaluate our relationship with Longhorn Isle.

Hello once again, ladies and gentlemen, I'm Julia Rodriguez for Channel 6 News at Nine. Our top story is the increase of tensions among neighboring countries and Longhorn Isle. The tiny nation of Adumas has issued a challenge against the actions of Longhorn Isle two days ago when we saw footage of an Islander warship gunning down illegal immigrants.

Tarik Luthor, the declared leader of Adumas and Chairmain of their ruling body, the Council of Nine, stood up and openly threatened the much larger Longhorn Isle. I quote: "If these acts continue, we shall wage our war of freedom against Longhorn Isle with all assets."

In response, Dictator for Life Jose-Miguel Escobedo had this to say:

"Bah, you do not frighten us little terrorist haven that you are. Declare your war against the might of the Longhorn and we shall see who emerges victorious. We shall not be told by other nations what our sovereign rights are. We are doing this to preserve the culture of our country and protect the jobs of the people of the Isle.

Who do you think that you are, to comdemn us!?!?! You who are but an outcast yourself. I do not know how it is that you were able to establish a nation of your own but I do know that if you continue in thsi foolish posturing, that we shall crush you like a grape."

Strong words coming from these two men on the political level, but sources say that indeed, the alert level of Longhorn Isle military facilities and the police, firefighter and EMS services are all now on a heightened alert status.

And now we go to correspondent Carlos Bucho, at the border of Longhorn Isle. How are you doing Carlos?

"That's great... what do you have to tell us about this border checkpoint, Carlos?"

"Well, Julia, it seems as though the actions taken two days ago by that Islander destryer were not just a one-day occurence. Three hours ago as I was doing a piece on the new border control guards, shots rang out and a huge firefight erupted along the south side of the checkpoint.

We ran over in the direction of the firefight and saw another scene of ruthless action to prevent the entrance of illegal immigrants. Left unguarded and unblocked in the recent crackdowns, this tunnel (camera pans down to show a waterway with a tunnel going under the huge electrical fence to allow the watre to flow) was being exploited by about thirty young men, armed with simple handguns and rifles. They were trying to sneak past the border checkpoint when one of the sniffing dogs used to search for bombs and drugs starting barking. Three of the border partol cops went to find out what the dog was barking at and found the illegals.

After demands that they go back the way they had come and then being told to lie down as they were under arrest, the illegals opened fire. Two of the border guards were killed outright and the third only jsut able to save his own life as he dove backwards. The ensuing firefight was brief and bloody as one of the guard towers swiveled it's .50 caliber machine guns and decimated the tresspassers."

Wow... so it seems as though Escobedo means business?

Absolutely, Julia. This is only one of about five incidents today throughout the country where action has been taken against illegal immigrants. In the town just east of this checkpoint, a little place called Huevos Rancheros (after the famous cooking of that dish by a settler), seventeen workers at the local computer plant were summarily exectued in front of the entire town the the cheering of the people. Indeed, it seems as if anti-illegal immigrant feelings are becoming more and more out of hand.

We consider the rash actions of Longhorn Isle to be deplorable and henceforth renounce all trade agreements with Mr. Escobedo. Until he sees fit as to reduce the lethality of these horrendous anti-illegal immigrant edicts, Leichsmark shall keep its borders closed and cut off all economic ties.

In a bold response to nations within the Apostasian Hegemony denouncing Longhorn Isle's new policy on illegal immigration, Islander forces attacked another ragtag fleet of immigrants off the southern coast this afternoon. This footage was sent to us, courtesy of the Islander government, as a statement that they intend to maintain their stance against illegitimate immigrants.

The picture changes from news broadcaster to a collection of rafts and buoyant vehicles, a few boats and about a hundred people. The wash from the helicopter taking the shot is spraying seawater all over the people and knocking a few of the more feeble down. Outstretched hands and smiles are on the faces of the immigrants but they quickly turn to frowns and looks of consternation as the helo starts to pull away. From the left, something suddenly streaks in and explodes, a sudden fireball washing over the collection of craft and people, consuming everything in a huge conflagaration. When the smoke clears, a few scraps of the vessels and the charred bodies of the few visible immigrants are seen amongst the waves.

Once again, Longhorn Isle military forces have exhibited no remorse in swiftly dealing with the illegal immigration. The policies from Mr. Escobedo are taking a huge toll on the fleeing populaces of other nations and the body count rises daily. More from Longhorn Isle, after these few words from our sponsors...

To all nations who would seek to dictate the terms of our internal policies, I have but one reply. Keep to your own. Longhorn Isle business is not your business but in this case, I will announce why our policies have become as harsh as they have.

You maythink thsi extreme, but I will not have my people suffering and out of work because your riff-raff has decided to flee your nations and inhabit mine. These kill teams are exactly that. I have chosen the most remorseless, yet intelligent men and women that I can find for the job. They will be checking for birth tags and the tatooed barcodes received at birth or, if you are a legal immigrant or foreign national, your work visas or papers hsould be sufficient. We are watermarking them and making them from a specific paper that must pass four tests to ensure authenticity so beware. Imposters shall be met with lethal force. I offer one week of leniency to those currently within my borders.

Leave now or when the teams are dispatched within seven days, you will be exterminated like the vermin you are.
