Terrorists strike in Agrigento
Abdhul Dridiyah slowly edged the truck filled with TNT and Nitro into position to drive right through the front doors of the Murano Stock Exchange.
He told himself that he was about to become a hero of his people as he prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of the Communist Muslim Vanguard(CMV) led by Kendirr Al Shigara whom Abdhul had idolized when he was a child, he remember how he had dreamt of an oppurtunity to serve the cause in such an important way.
He sat in the driver's seat holding a walkie-talkie waiting for the signal to plow right through the doors and make the non-believers pay for their insolence.
All of a sudden he heard the voice of Guraga saying "Go! Go now!' he was ready, he was ready to die for his people and above all die for his cause. He slammed his foot down on the gas and in a moment he was zooming through the lanes and through the doors and glass flew everywhere injuring many people and then came an enormous blast. The force was so extreme it decimated the Murano Stock Exchange causing the first floor to be completely destroyed and the rest of the building to implode upon itself, however the damage did not stop at the Stock Exchange it also severely damaged the Empire Equities Stock Brockerage and the Murano Fedaral Reserves.

Several hours later a video tape is sent to the Agrigento Media. The contents of this videotape contain the group CMV who are claiming credit for the earlier attack on the Murano Stock Exchange.
"I am Kendirr Al Shigara, servant of Allah and leader of the Communist Muslim Vanguard, Today is a glorius day for my people for we have hit directly through the heart of the corrupt capitalist economy of Agrigento. The damage caused is much more than we had expected and we hope for many dead" the videotape was played over and over again on News Stations throughout the Eastern Azores.

"Dear Lord, what on earth motivated this?" Said a sleepy headed Mainwaring having been woken with news of the attack.
"I'm afraid we don't know much yet, Prime Minister. We're not even sure if the motivation iss religious, political, or merely criminal."
"Oh I'll say it's criminal alright, Wilson! The nerve of them! A rabble of Bolshevik..Arab..the nerve of it!"
Within the hour PM Mainwaring gave an address to thousands of early rising wireless listeners over the WBC, speaking of a surprise attack against the nation's friends in Agrigento, and pledging Walmington's support in whatever capacity it might be required.
(ooc:By the fact of the insistance that the RP's invite only I'm assuming that Agrigento's alright with the attack, and that it won't be ignored or anything- I'm stopping short of having WoS do..anything of course, but I'm assuming an address by the PM won't hamper anything- do carry on, and don't mind me.)

The news hit Iansisle like a tidal wave. Within hours, every IanCorp News Outlet in the Commonwealth and the world had picked up the story as their headline. An attack on a fellow ANH member could not be taken lightly.
However, not too far from the media giant's front office in Ianapalis, a split opinion was forming.
In the ancient debate forum of Jameston Place, curses were hurled back and forth from various Imperial and Dominioner MPs. While it was agreed that violence was never justified, Iansisle's appropriate response - be it nothing, a message of condolence, an official statement by Tarriff, a private message of support, or the all-out offer of military assistance was fiercly contested.
After nearly six hours of screaming, the ineffective Prime Minister at last managed to call the issue to a vote. The result - nothing. A public offering of condolence and a private message of condolence and support tied, 597 votes to 597, with other options reciving a variety of support. The Neo-Royalist Party - or rather, its one member of parliament - endorsed the immediate sending of ten thousand troops to Agrigento, regardless of their ally's desire for them.
IanCorp soon had the message about Parliament's inability to act on this crucial matter flying about the world's airwaves.

Site of the Terrorist Attack
__________________________
The scene was horrific to behold. The once majestic Stock Exchange, one of the most famous symbols of Capitalism to the people Agrigento lay in ruins, completely collapsed as the lower floor of the 50 story building was destroyed and all support it provided to the rest of the structure was lost. It was easily one of the smaller structures in the dense skyline of Murano, but nonetheless the emptiness of the space it once occupied brought no solace to the grieving people of Agrigento. In the blast and subsequent collapse the street became littered with debris and pieces of concrete and steel was sent flying as far as 3 miles away. The buildings directly adjacent to the Stock Exchange were also severely damaged.
Most heavily damaged was the Federal Reserve Bank, but thankfully 99% of the Gold used to back the currency remained safe inside their very secure underground vaults, effectively preventing a crippling economic disaster. The rest of the building, however did not fair as well. The upper floors especially were cratered with debris and missing walls from impact. The lower floors were damaged severely from the blast itself and witnessed a high fatality rate.
Also damaged was the Empire Equities Stock Brokerage, one of the oldest and largest firms in the history of Agrigento. Since the very creation of the Stock Market the Empire Equities Brokerage has existed and it has become a part of Agrigento's History, thankfully no one inside this building died, as it was significantly further from the Stock Exchange than the Federal Reserves. However it was not spared from damage as it too became the victim from flying debris.
The ambulances were rushing about, and a triage center was setup in the Empire Equities Building. The stock market at this time of day was it its busiest and had the most people in it. The Federal Reserve Bank too, was at its peak business hours. Estimated dead at this moment is numbered in the hundreds and could possibly reach the thousands. Injured is numbered much higher than this at about three thousand confirmed reports of nonfatal casualties.
The Carabinieri has shut the city down to all traffic for the time being and closed off the scene to all pedestrians. Cities all over Agrigento are in high risk and are told to be ready for any further attacks, although the AIA (Agrigentian Intelligence Agency) believes that to be unlikely.
----------------------------------
Just hours after the attack President Mario Corleone makes a speech which is broadcasted on all major news stations across The Eastern Azores.
"My Fellow Agrigentians, today we stand on bloodied lands. Our nation has been attacked, and for the first time in its long history enemies of the state had breached our soil. We are at a state of war at this moment, a state of war, which is different from all others before it, because this war is not a war against another country, or an enemy alliance, but rather a war against terrorism, and a war for the very survival of our way of life. Hundreds of our countrymen and women lost their lives today. We must not let their lives be in vain; we must strive on and keep on living. We must treat the injured, both emotionally and physically, we must support the grieving and provide them with any help we can, and we must, as a nation, stay united in this great time of adversity. I call out to the nations that are harboring the terrorists responsible for this heinous and malicious act to hand them over to us immediately, they will be given a fair trial and prosecuted to the fullest extent of our laws. We will not rest, even after our wounds are mended, we will not forget, even after our dead are buried, and we will not fall as a nation, even under the direst circumstances"
The president leaves the screen and the National Anthem is played while an Agrigentian flag waves in the background.

Colonel Tang watched as the Islandian troops rapelled from a helicopter onto the abandoned city of Wakano on the war torn island of Qiang Ti, which had been recaptured from West Islandian forces scarcely a year ago. They spread out into formation and assaulted the building with precision, moving as a cohesive whole and clearing the entire, four story, twenty room structure within twenty four minutes.
Tang sighed. Wakano was the perfect place for training counterterrorist units; the city's large spaces, close quarters, and unpredictable conditions were invaluable learning assets. FORCECOM was thinking about running a large, region wide training course there. But that, of course, was still in the works.
********
As news of the attacks on Agrigento spread throughout the Azores, the Islandians were particularly shocked. For one, they were accustomed to terrorism in their own lands, and knew of few other places that experienced it on a day to day basis like they did, save for some troubled countries in the Mideast, Africa, and the South Pacific.
"We offer our condolences to those who have perished in the attack, and we vow that such terror will not go unpunished. Such a strike signifies the unstable situation in the Azores, and we will stand behind Agrigento in whatever decision they make pertaining to the perpetrators of the attack," the East Islandian Politburo announced scarcely an hour after news of the attack reached Hukasa. "We will send aid if requested, and we will definitely overcome these enemies together."
****
Tang smiled. maybe that war college might just come into existence.
we applaud the heroic martyrs who have done this. May Allah be with them.
Meanwhile, we shall aid our brothers in Mossadiqville in their heroic struggle against the Agrigentian oppressors.

"I stand here outside the senate building today to bring you this live report. There are crowds all around me and flags are everywhere. The tension here is like a thick fog, compounded by the unusual humid weather. All these people with me are awaiting the same thing. Inside the hallowed halls of the senate building there is an ongoing debate as the Federal and Legislative Branches meet to discuss the current turn of events, and the problematic nation of Mossadiqville. We await in silent anticipation, awaiting the outcome of this all-important meeting, just four months after the terrible terrorist attack that rocked our nation in Murano. I must stress again the fact that this is the first time in the last half-century that television cameras were not allowed inside.....wait a minute, I think they are coming out. Yes, there is President Corleone and the Senate Majority leader, Senator Bersconi."
The two men walked up to the podium set up at the end of the Piazza. Standing in the same spot that King Umberto VII stood in, when making the famous speech in which he officially ended Monarchy in Agrigento. The same spot that President Ubaldo Pianelli made the first State of the Republic Address. The same spot that President Neroluna called together all allied nations during the Great Azorean War.
"My fellow Agrigentians, today me and the other senators came to a very difficult, and hardfought decision. It took great effort to decide on this, but ultimately we feel it is the best choice for the people of Agrigento, as well as the rest of the world. We have decided, by a very large majority, that the nation of Mossadiqville is a threat to freedom all over the world", Sen. Berlusconi stepped away from the podium and was replaced by President Mario Corleone. The many people in attendance, as well as people watching on T.V. across the country remained breathless.
"As the distinguished gentleman, Sen. Bersconi said, we indeed have come to agree upon the fact that Mossadiqville must be dealt with. The corrupt, terrorist-supporting regime of that nation is a threat to all nations, and we cannot continue living in fear. With the graves of the people killed in the horrible attack against our country still fresh we must strike, not for retribution, not for revenge, but to insure that it never happens again. To insure the world will be safe, and that the innocent civilians of that nation no longer live under the tyranny of their oppressive government. Today we have officially declared war on the government of Mossadiqville!", he finished his speech.
There was silence. It lasted for almost three seconds while the audience processed what they just heard. Then, like a lion's roar, the applause rose. Drowning out all noise and shaking the ground. Car windows shattered blocks away, and people began to cover their ears, all the while never relenting their cheers.
Royal Palace, Calarca
The King of Calarca watched the taped IanCorp news braodcast his intelligence officer had brought to him, waking him at 3 in the morning Calarcian time to relay news that would have an effect on the Calarcian Sharemarket as investors the world around would likely start buying gold not shares as the news of the disaster got around.
"CMV eh... Find out if there are any of that group here in Calarca, if you find any, execute them immediately. put the group on the list of prohibited associations and put the internal intelligence on the jopb.
I'll draw up a letter of condolence and sympathy."

THe Islandian Forces Command has mobilized elements of the First Special Forces Detachment and several other unnamed Special Operations Forces for service in teh Agrigento war.
Several air divisions have been mobilized in order to join our valiant comrades.
Tu-22MS bombers of the WEst Islandian Air Expansionary Defence Forces have conducted airstrikes on Largeheadlandiaburg, in retaliation for the sinking of a West Islandian freighter off their coast, rumored to be carrying weapons. The Supreme Council denies this, and condemns the peoples of LBG.
Also, forward forces have initiated attacks on LBG defences in the Azorean sea and several of their Navy units in the East Lotus Sea.
As Largeheadlandiaburg president Seamus O'Reilly stepped up to the podium on this brisk fall day in Dublin Springs he was not thinking about the upcoming elections but rather the effect of what he was about to say to his people.
Ladies and gentlemen, earlier today forces from the Dictatorship of West Islandia launched an attack against this great nation of ours, an attack on freedom , took many of our countrymen and womens lives, today we lost 1,456 of our family, friends and loved ones, we will not forget these attacks, we will strike hard and we will strike right at their heart. We have declare war on West Islandia, its allies and terrorists worldwide, we will fight until we have freed the world from fear and the threat of terrorism,
we will fight until we have freed the world from fear and the threat of terrorism. Freedom will perservere! We as a people will prevail!...as he uttered those last words he was overcome by the patriotism his people as they cheered so loudly that people in Donegal could hear the noise.
