RT-S10 All-In-One Transport/Landing Craft carrier! BIG!

Ferrussia
18-08-2003, 09:55
The People's Republic of Ferrussia reserves full rights to this ship. Manufacturing/production licenses have not been issued, and will probably not be for some time. Please don't rip me off.

The Ferrussian Coalition of Defense Agencies (FCDA) recently announced the launch of a radical new sea transport: the RT-S10. The colossal ship is a platform for any major sea-based invasion, with an integrated LCAC (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/lcac.htm) (hovercraft) deployment and recovery system and a maximum capacity of 2,176 M1A1 Abrams tanks*.

The transport holds up to 60 LCAC hovercrafts (sold with the transport) and the 4 elevators can altogether lower 20 hovercrafts every 10 minutes. With 16 decks for tank/personell/truck transport, and another 2 for hovercraft storage, the space limitations are few. With space in the back for fuel and food (see schematic below), the transport is largely self-sustaining, at least for short periods of time. Additional supplies are recommended for any extended voyage, as is heavy escort.

The transport is armored quite substantially, as the capacity means that losing just one transport could be potentially devastating. It is equipped with a helipad, RO/RO ramps in the front for faster loading/unloading of tanks when at a major port, and quarters for the hovercraft and tank/truck crews. Loading and unloading MUST take place in relatively calm waters.

The ships are being produced as quickly as possible, but it takes quite some time to complete a single vessel. With the included 60 LCAC hovercrafts, an RT-S10 transport costs $6 billion.

Good to see you again, Crookfur. :D Thanks to your help with the R-MM-1, the FCDA is about ready to come out with the prototype for a second version. We'll let you know when something happens.

Your order should take about 1 RL day to fill. Much of the money will probably be going to a project to expand the shipyard capabilities of the FCDA, as we're looking at naval power to be one of our strongest industries.

We appreciate your business, and hope to see you again soon!

an LCAC can only carry 1 M1A2. Hope they like making alot of trips
19-08-2003, 22:43
dumb
Ferrussia
19-08-2003, 23:02
Of course they have to make a lot of freaking trips. You can't land all your forces at once; that'd be chaos and suicide. Most other transport systems take even longer to get all of their forces on land, anyway.

Plus, if you really are carrying the maximum capacity in M1A2s, they'd need one or two other RT-S10s just for all the supply trucks needed. LCACs can carry a lot more supply trucks than M1A2s, so if you have a good balance of support and fighting cargo, it shouldn't be a problem.

Wow... :D We'll be happy to fulfill your order, however it could take a little time. We have 3 already produced, waiting for sales, and they will be taken with light escort to your waters by a skeleton crew immediately. The remaining 7 should be produced over the next NS year (1 RL day), each taken to your waters (with escort, of course) as soon as completed.

$50 billion, total. I hope they serve you well!

Your people would advise mine if we went to convert one for seabee use correct?
Ferrussia

We could send over some FCDA engineers to help with the technical issues involved, or build it with a SEABEE-compatible conveyor system to begin with, for an extra $100 million. We have plenty of time to design such a system internally, considering the backlog on the transports, and we feel it would take minimal tampering to accomplish. Let us know what you decide, and if you go with already-built in SEABEE systems, make sure to confirm the amount to be modified.

Thanks again!

Aah, sorry, I forgot to edit the in-description price. They're 5 billion each (can transport over 2100 MBTs, remember). We'd give you a discount to 50 billion for 12 of them, and despite the high cost they are relatively low cost to maintain.

Sorry for the confusion.
