Commando School Formed

08-08-2003, 09:03
The OKW officially drafted a class roster for its newly formed commando school. These highly trained soldiers, called "Flottenkommandotruppen" (OOC-To all the German speaking ppl out there, all I can do is say "online translators suck"), will be drilled in land, sea, and airborne operations. The newly formed group is expected to coordinate closely with Der Kriegsmarine's U-boatwaffe and Luftwaffe during the training phase. A number of modified Type IX U-boats have been assigned to the group as well.
The program is expected to be operational by late this summer. The force will be divided into 15 man units called Kommandogruppen.

OOC-These commandos can be considered a blend of Luftwaffe Fallschimjager and US Navy UDT, and a precursor to modern Special Forces.

Arms used by the Kommandogruppen:

The standard arm for Kommandos is the MP-40 (http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg33-e.htm), which replaced the aging MP-18.
Another small arm employed is the FG-42 (http://www.geocities.com/pentagon/2833/heer/infantry/fg42/fg42.html), normally found in the hands of Luftwaffe paratroopers. This weapon is used in situations where greater firepower than can be produced by a SMG is needed; typically, at least 4 are used per 15 man Kommandogruppen.
The standard sidearm is the wz 35 (http://members.madasafish.com/~jklm/vis.htm), also called the "Radom" for the arsenal that made them. It's heavier and less complicated than the P-08 Luger.
The kommandos also employ a collection of close combat weapons, used for silently eliminating lookouts and in boarding actions. These include knives, short swords, various bludgeons, and hand axes.
