North-Westerly Wind, Potentially Heavy Rain

Within a shroud of radio silence, two Relentless class 'orbital' cruisers lift themselves effortlessly out of orbit on a minimum-exertion maneuver, apparently headed out into the night of the solar system.

* * *

"Stats," requested Captain Gurandhi of the IDSS Perfect Night, tapping eight fingers together in a slow drumming pattern.

"No sensor echoes," reported SCOM - sensor command - and added, "everything looks green, sir."

"Weapons look great. Engines optimal; we should have a relativley small EMS, sir. Profile is being kept to a minimum, according to the MISAT - good job, helm," the BECOM reported. BECOM, of course, being 'bridge/engineering command'.

The helmsman - well, woman - smiled to herself smugly. "That's why they pay me the big money, baby," she commented.

Gurandhi grinned. He didn't run a tight ship, formality-wise - but his crew knew that if they screwed up, they'd be scraped off the deck and deposited in a matchbox to be sent home. It was surprisingly effective...

"Course steady. ETA to insertion point... twelve hours, twelve minutes, who-gives-a-damn seconds... sir," added the helmswoman.

"And ops?"

"All mission specialists report ready. Small-arms have been scrubbed of all MI systems. They should think it's exactly what it's meant to look like, sir. Orbital rain."

Garandhi smiled faintly. He was going to love this mission...

* * *

Rialla smiled faintly. "And... I assume all is proceeding well, Commodore?"

The IDF SN Commodore smiled faintly. "Just First Phase, milady, but all seems... optimal. We should have an accurate MSP within... nine hours. If all goes well, we'll be hearing a static burst from our friends in about... ten to thirteen hours."

Rialla nodded crisply. And then added warningly, "Commodore... this plan has been in the making for some time. Considering the fine detail aspect, I won't accept anything less than success. You understand your career hangs on this, considering this is your plan, yes?"

"Yes, milady. I know our motto, of course. 'High ranking IDF SN officers only make one mistake - they get fired out of the proverbial kinetic gun tube before they can make another.'"

Rialla smiled. "In a nutshell, Commodore. In a nutshell."

[OOC: This thread will be home to an assault against a certain space asset positioned above Arda. Namely, the Western Might shipyards. It's not meant to be high-visibility, and the ships are running cold-and-silent. Not many people posess the ability to see them moving, but if you have ships in the vicinity, notice of movement is acceptable.

No Arda nation should know, however, unless they have satelite assets above Lodoss. At T+4hours, Arda based assets with far-sighted sensors might well see the cruisers moving out into 'the night', but it's doubtful it'll be seen as important.]

Meanwhile, a small EOTED tender craft makes a bizarre run out of orbit and into a strange position vaguely relative to Arda (the region)... and then sits there.

A MISAT arrives moments later, and the tender craft docks with it. If anyone is looking, they may see spacesuited figures crawling over the MISAT, and assume that some sort of experimentation/adaption is occurring just outside Arda (the planet) orbit.

Aboard a small LRR PSC, an LRR fleet officer notices the Ma-tek ships as he passes by them at high accelleration.

He thought to himself- "Hmm. Interesting. Ma-tek ships. They must be on their way earthside."

Mission Time: T-plus 6 hours

The two cruisers move out to their prescribed mission position, far out from Arda - now a mere disc in the blackness of space.

Slowly, they wheel on a precisely calculated arc, turning but not losing momentum, and begin a slow acceleration for a return rendezvous with Arda.

Mission Time: T-plus 8 hours

The cruisers angle out of the arc, gracefully. Not a glint of sunlight reflects back from their dark, smooth hulls; the Three Star Sigil is, of course, not apparent. Their gunports remain, naturally, closed. 'Gentle' acceleration - that is, careful acceleration to prevent their hulls lighting up like Christmas trees - takes them, by now, to 4 PSL.

Mission Time: T-plus 11 hours, 59 minutes, 48 seconds

As they approach the designated position, the cruisers cease accelerating. Quietly - well, silently (this IS a vacuum) - the small-arms gunports on the ships open...

Mission Time: T-plus 12 hours

...and small, black objects, nigh on invisible against the blackness of space, float outwards.

The warships promptly begin decellerating, and slowly but surely, the black objects move away as the relative velocity difference between cruisers and small-arms canisters grows wider.

Mission Time: T-plus 12 hours, six minutes

A static-imbued comms transmission arrives in LEO, via radio waves:

"Mayday, mayday! This is IDTS Support 12! We have incoming... ice? Damn, Timur, is that ice? I can't quite-"

Static breaks in on the transmission, and a brief white flash is visible seconds later in the region of space that was once home - a temporary home - to the MISAT and the tender ship that EOTED had dispatched earlier.

Mission Time: T-plus 12 hours, 12 minutes, 18 seconds

The Western Might shipyards might well detect a vast swathe of metallic objects inbound at this point, but any sensor systems won't get a lock on them. They're just too small; the most likely assumption would be that there are incoming meteorites, but no shower was predicted. And the objects are moving at some 12 PSL - it seems unlikely that any intercept or prevention measure could be deployed fast enough, with such little time.

The objects are at 14,000km and closing at blinding speed.

The IDF SN officer dashed into the High Lady's office in the old building once known as Government House, Turath, clutching the flexisheet tightly between trembling fingers.

"Milady! Milady!"

Rialla swung about on her seat, glancing up. "Yes?"

"Milady, we have the pre-strike report in from the-"

Rialla waved a hand. "And?"

"They launched succesfully, ma'am. Unless something unforseen occurs, the Western Might shipyards should be going up in flames any moment now. And, ma'am? There should be nothing to link it to us. The cruisers are proceeding to the designated area; our MISAT above Arda is monitoring the situation. When it goes offline, we'll know that the attack has been succesful. If not... then we'll have data and be able to determine why."

Rialla bobbed her head, her hair, as ever, miraculously staying exactly in place. "And then we can determine what action to take. Excellent, Lieutenant. I assume the Commodore has seen the report?"

The Lieutenant shook his head, lifting a hand to wipe his brow slightly. It had been a long run...

"No, ma'am. I thought you should hear first."

"Excellent," Rialla intoned, adding a crisp, "dismissed, Lieutenant."

The IDF SN man bobbed his head, dashing back out of the office again.

"Hrm," noted the SCOM.

Garandhi frowned. He knew that 'hrm'; it meant something bad was up. "What is it, Ensign?"

"I just got a brief spike, sir. Energy spike. Looks like a scan. Someone's picked us up with active scanners, I'd guess."

Garandhi scowled. "Fine. Shift course by... 28 degrees by 15 degrees by 128 degrees. Increase decelleration. Make it look like we're doing something, Weapons. Open and close the gunports, frequently. Make it look like we're flushing a glitch. Then fire off a single kinetic, non-active, with MI core cold. Then vape it with the EF beams."

"Aye, aye, Captain," replied the weapons officer.

* * *

The Perfect Night and her accompanying ship shift course somewhat, and the Perfect Night's gunports open and close rapidly.

After a few seconds, a single flash comes from one of the gunports. And then a blue-white light flashes out from the EF defence grid, nailing the missile and superheating it. It flashes quietly in the blackness of space.

Control center of the Construction Yards.

Seaman Cheranchov sat at his control station. His job was to make sure nothing like space junk hit the yards. "Yea peace and quiet. Man I I love third watch." The reach for his coffie mug.

"BEEP BEEP BEEP Object detercted bear mark 200 impact in 10 seconds"

Droping the mug half way to his mouth he bolted strait in his chair." Shit, what in the hell is going on.

Impact in 5...4...

"Computer bring up object onscreen." The last thing he saw was the large ball of light right before it slammed into the control center. The occuring explosion totally destroyed the control center. The closest 6 of the 13 yards were also totally destroyed. Along with the ships within them.(A Battleship and 5 Cruisers). 4 more of the yards took extream damage that soon after the power cell overloaded and the two were gone though they were empty. The last of the yards which were the older olnes and farthest away from the control center took minimal damage, but had at least 39% crew lost.

Off 59000km away the crew of the scout ship Luise & Clark watch in horror as the construction yards were destroyed. The L&C had been coing in for refitting and was aproching from behind a contruction yard.

Aboard the bridge of the Luise and Clark.
The Capitan of the Ship looked blankly at the sceen and the Chaos before him. "My God... Com get ahold of fleet command and report on what has happened keep the line open. Western Might SDF HQ station New Hope.

ensign Collins Jr. was ready to get off duty. For 14 hours he had been sitting in the same com officers chair, drinking cup after cup of coffie. He looked up at the time panel. Just 5 more minutes to go till I can sleep. Just as he was about to get anouther cup of brew his panel started lighting up like a christmas tree. curiously he began typng in acces codes so that the messeges could be decoded. Just as he pushes the eneter key static erupted from the speakers." What the.." mutterd the ensign as he cleaned up the messege. by the time he could hear the voice the oficer of the watch had walk over to see what the noise was about.

"This is the com officer of the Scout ship Luise and Clack to SDF Command to you copy over."

"Luise and Clark this is SDF coand we read you 5 by..."

"SDF Command request ships be deployed to sector Alfa Zulu Delta 15."

"Scout ship Luise and Clark you have no right.."

Just then a new voice came over the com" SDF Command this is the Capitan of the Luise and Clark, Commander Ruse . I want to speak with the Officer of the Watch."

Hearing being called, the OOTW took over for the Ensign. "This is Capitan Mike, what can I do for you Comander?"

"Sir the construction yards have been hit sir."

For several second there was dead silence.W what is the damage Commander?" asked a now shoked Capitan

"Sir Damage to the yards is at 70% to 80% Including the control center."

"Good god. over 800 men lost. Petty Offiver Records wake the Admiral now." The Capitan turned his attention by to the com, asking the capitan more questions. less than 1.5 inuts later the Admiral can jogging in a sharp battle uniform.

"Ok Commander Ruse I have gotten your information fro aid the capitan as sent now your orders are to search in a arch fomation. Ships are on there way now to help with the search. That is all."The tranmision ened.

The com officer looked at the panel agian"Um.. sir there another call coming in... its from the President." not waiting for a answer the ensign pushed the on/in messege. The president Face then apperd on on e of the panels.

"Admiral Higs What in the hell is going on?" the president did not look happy.

"Mr. President to put it short we lost the construction yards." stated Adiral Higs.

The only change in in the President face was him blinking, once. Admiral Higs I want the 6th 8th and 9th Fleets deployed in a search pattern. I don't care how you do it just get those fleets out now. And I want no leeks about this you understand none. Goodday gentalmen." Wirth that the tranmition ended.

The Officers now begane waking the entire station sending out order for the 6th 8th and 9th fllets to get moving.

Meanwhile Ensign got a entire pot of coffie going cause he was going to need it.

The crew of the carrier IDSS Vector of Judgement gasped at the image onscreen.

"Great Stars," breathed Commander Elrahn, first officer, "they're... they're being blown out of the sky... helm! Get us the hell over there. - Captain to the Nest! - And let's see if we can lend a hand... before it's too damned late."

* * *

The carrier arced around the curve of the planet, speeding towards Arda with launchports closed, blaring, "This is IDSS Vector of Judgement; MISAT network reads extreme cataclysmic activity in the vicinity of the Western Might Shipyards. WMS, do you read? Do you require assistance? Repeat, this is IDSS Vector of Judgement..."

* * *

Rialla chuckled quietly at the image as the Commodore rewound it and showed it again.

And again.

And again.

"Well, well, well. I think that all happened too fast for anyone to-"

The Commodore wagged a finger, laying his champagne down on the table. "Don't bet on it. Eggs not hatched, you know, as the saying goes."

"Hrm," Rialla breathed, "well. We'll see. For now? A fantastic job, Commodore. If those shipyards are half as important - were half as important - as Intelligence believed... well. Well. We might be celebrating this - quietly - for some time to come, eh? - And I assume at least one of our ships has diverted to render aid?"

The Commodore grinned. "Yup, milady. Nobody but the special few even have a clue what's happened out there yet... but when it hits the news, we want to be 'the good guys' in this, eh? Something like, 'EOTED Warship Responds First To Western Might Catastrophe' - something like that..."

minutes later

"Sir, we are getting a messege from a Ma-tek vessal."

"This is IDSS Vector of Judgement; MISAT network reads extreme cataclysmic activity in the vicinity of the Western Might Shipyards. WMS, do you read? Do you require assistance? Repeat, this is IDSS Vector of Judgement..."

"IDSS Vector of Judgement, this is Commander Ruse capitan of the Scout ship Luise & Clark. The ships yards have mostly been destroyed but some remain intact with their crews in them. Since we are unable to handel all the dead and wounded abardt could you lend us a hand to get them off the spacedocks before their air runs out."

It just wasn't natural.

"Luis and Clarke, our ETA is 48 seconds. Please make sure nobody fires at us - we'd really rather not take any flak on our way in. - We have capacity for about six hundred, Luis and Clarke, and we have a contingent of dropships. We can ferry wounded down to the surface, if that's helpful?"

"Vector of Judgement have no fear about flack. Since we are the only ship in the area, and the spacedock have no weapons online at the oment. No need to ferry them down to the surface, the hospital ship from the fleet will arrive in 13 minutes. The reason why we need to get them out of there is that their life support systems will fail in 6 to 8 minutes. We will get the crew from Spacedock 13 as we are closer to that one. You should start on 11 as it will take you 59 second to get there. Well enough chatter lets get to work. Commander Ruse out."

Especially considering he had forgotten the hospital ship himself.

The Vector of Judgement does just that, following the Western Might vessel in at - for a ship with a top speed of the level of the Vector of Judgement - an extremely sedate velocity of 20m/s.

And, naturally, her gunports remain firmly closed, with weapons systems running cold. Her EF grid remains on barely detectable so-called 'luke-warm' standby, however - the captain of the EOTED ship trusts the Western Might commanders...

"Unlikely, weapon control fire torpedos 1 and 2, followed by a blast from the forward lasers."

From the outside of the ship two 60 inch tubes could be seen racing fro the Luise & Clark. The Torpedos inpacted on the CHS Ender Wigens lower Left engine truster. Then 3 shots of deep green blast came shotng out of the forward part of the Luise&Clark. one isses the CHS Ender Wigen but the other two hit their mark. which was the weapon control syste leaveing the Ender Wigen defenceless.

**Burst transmition fro the Luise and clark to the Vector of Judgement

The Luise and Clark docked withing minutes with the Ender Wigen. The minutes ticked by. The time was approching 10 inutes when a transmission was sent to the Vector of Judgement.

The Commander face appeared on screen. One could see several of the E W's crew on the deck alive but looking as if asleep. "Vector of Judgement you are clear to dock. Sorry for the wait we had to read these guys and gals their rights. As they are on under arrest." he moved to sit in the capitans chair. you could see the E W's capitan plasti-cuffed and asleep like his crew. And as the Commander turned you could see the blood staining the right side of his uniform. he cringed as he sat in the chair." I'll be at the docking lock when you arrive. "

End transmission/wait for reply.

The reply is a curt one. "Understood. Oh, and one small question... what are the exact dimensions of the docking bay door? We need to be sure the CBT is exactly aligned, or it could rip your hull open."

The IDSS Vector of Judgement executes a smooth and graceful approach to the hospital ship...

...but halts nearly two kilometres away.

A small-arms gunport irises open on her side...

...and a small black thing is hurled forth, extending out into an apparently pencil-thin line.

The line intersects with the exact centre of the airlock door - guided in by a laser, probably - and the line expands outwards, rippling gently along its entire length as more material is pumped into the buckyball-coated cable from the Vector of Judgement. The cable expands into a stiff-but-pliable sectored tube; motion is unlikely, however, as the Vector of Judgement uses the cable as a kind of tether, holding both ships absolutely still - relative to one another.

The inside of the now-tube, perfectly smooth and hollow on the interior, fills with viable atmosphere...

...and several moments later, the airlock door opens, with patients on trolleys being rushed onto the hospital ship as fast as is safely possible.

On the other side of the airlock ar ethe ships doctors who get to work tending to the wounded as the come aboard. The Commander statds off to the side of the airlock, talking to some of the woundee that could talk.
But the main reson he was there was that he wanted to talk of the Capitan of the Vector of Judgement. He approched a Ma-tek crewman who did not looks to busy at the moment.
"Pardon me Crewman but do you know if your capitan in coming aboard? I would like to thank him in person for what he did."

ooc:reason i put crewman instead of a rank is because I didn't know what they are for your naval forces. Mine is the standard the US uses now.

It takes a while for the worst of the wounded to be moved through the tunnel system; but once they are, the Captain of the Vector of Judgement - resplendant in his gold-and-white dress uniform - strides out onto the hospital ship-

And the med tech merely raises a finger and points, calmly informing the crewmember, "He's there."

The Captain half-salutes, bringing his fist half the way to his breast and clasping his hip with his free hand; before lowering the fist and standing at ease, left hand clasped about right wrist.

He does wear gloves, but it is doubtful that the Western Might officer is aware of that. The gloves are clear plastic, moulded to the skin.

He doesn't remove them.

He wears, of course, the white-and-gold dress uniform. Perfectly cut, the uniform glides over his shoulders rather than resting on them; covered from head to toe in white, with gold braiding making up a rough rectangle from top of stomach to shoulder and out to waist. Three stars rest upon his shoulder, left. On his right breast sits the triangle-in-a-circle blaze of the Three Star Sigil, with the now-customary X# interceptor inserted in. Fighter-and-Star Sigil of the Imperial Defence Forces Special Space Navy - First Orbital Battlegroup, essentially.

"Captain... Duty commits us to our own actions. We merely act out the protocols that duty provides. But it is an honour to be the ship to be able to make this historic action; symbolic of my great Empire's only true desire: peaceful relations with all."

His voice is smooth, but lilting in a Nenyan roll over the vowels; and his 'n's are a little more open than they ought. To the knowledgable of Nenyan accents and dialects, it would be obvious that this is not just any Nenyan - but a Nenyan of the Aelinenya area of Nenya, Ma-Nenya.

Undoubtedly a noble.

Chin is at 3rd Degree Vertical; that is, it is just slightly above the horizontal. Amongst EOTED noble society, this would indicate to the second person that they were speaking to one of greater rank. And for the Captain to automatically assume the position... this would imply one of two things. Either great arrogance in assuming greater rank; or that the Captain is quite used to being the greater of stature in social situations.

Underneath the accent rests a gentle voice, but with clear and obvious booming capacity. A well-contained bass.

"Ah.. that well some coperations have gained some power over that past 50 years or so" the commander began as he and the capitan walked down the corridor. None at the toime thought much about it cause they were very helpfun in the building of our Space defence force. But along with us the began building their own fleets. Though still part of western Might they think they are above Military regulations and go by their own. That has caused mare injury and in some cases death in the past. But they were never held accountable for those action" He Commander paused as to chose he words well. " But as you saw minutes ago they broke my last straw. Many men would've died had they not been brought here. And I will admit I was a little harsh in my actions. But I was fed up with it."

The EOTED captain's eyebrows shoot up momentarily, but he merely agrees with a nod of his head and a deeply sympathetic, "Indeed, indeed. I can quite see how that would be an annoyance."

Internally, he took a note. The rumours about their lack of discipline are clearly true.

Externally, he kept a truly sympathetic looking expression fixed on his features.

The Commander ran through the tour of the Ender wigen in short order .Since most of the ship was med deck and those were at the moment in use. But the tour did inclued the Engine room, Main Engineering, the weapons control center and the bridge. Once at the bridge the Commander turned to face the Capitan. "And that Capitan is the Ender Wigen. Not a mighty ship like yours or the FRS Hugo. Ah now that is a ship indeed. Have you heard of her Capitan?"

"Oh the FRS Hugo is our newest flagship she was being made in the canstruction yard at New Hope, which is just for building large cap ships." But at the mention of his ship a brod grin appears on the Commanders face "Oh shes fast all right Capitan. The commander raises one of his own eyebrows You mean to tell me commander that your intel dose not now of them? They are not the bigest secret in the Republic. The Jump gate network system is a grouping Jump gates. Some other contries call them Hyper gates or quantum gate. But they allow for a ship to be 'transported' to a conected to anouther Jump gate. But plans are in the works now that we don't need them anymore. See we have accired a star drive several in fact, from battles with Angelus and other enemy's of the Republic." The commander paused at a hatchway one could see mulitpul skorch marks from stun rifles. "Ah here we are Capitan this will take us to the the Luise & Clark. Oh and Capitan if your counrty dose not already now this information about the jump gate then or refitting out ships with star drives then it must me slipping. The captain shook his head. "I wouldn't know for sure, but I'd doubt it. What would be the need? We aren't enemies, exactly. - And anyway, who knows what intel knows? It's what I don't know that I was trying to shed light on."
