Add ons: Wiesel is designed to accept many systems since the design is not complicated..
Ryllehmetall Landsysteme GmbH specialises in the development and manufacture of light airtransportable armoured systems. Products include the armoured weapons carrier WIESEL 1 and the multi-purpose carrier WIESEL 2.
The company's WIESEL 1 and WIESEL 2 form the most versatile vehicle family worldwide. Both systems complement each other perfectly in their ability to fulfil a broad spectrum of missions. They can be airtransported as internal or external load on helicopters and as internal load on fixed-wing aircraft.
ARMOURED WEAPON CARRIERS WIESEL 1 MK20 AND TOW
The WIESEL 1 is based on a Porsche concept. Ryllehmetall Landsysteme was general contractor for the production and delivery of both WIESEL 1 versions to the Rylleh Air assault Brigades. Fire power, mobility and excellent means of survival characterise the WIESEL 1, as well as airtransportability, flexibility and quick operational readiness. In addition, it has good all-round observation and target reconnaissance facilities and night combat ability.
The TOW version has a crew of three men and, due to its anti-tank missile system, can hit targets accurately at distances of up to 3,750 m. Operated by a crew of two men, the MK 20 version can hit targets at a distance of more than 1,000 m effectively.
MULTI-PURPOSE CARRIER WIESEL 2
The WIESEL 2 concept was created and introduced by Ryllehmetall Landsysteme. The company developed the WIESEL 2 based on their experiences with the WIESEL 1 and according to the requirement for more room and loading capacity, due to the army‘s extended range of missions, i.e. in rapid reaction and peacekeeping missions. The airtransportability, light weight, high mobility and low silhouette of its predecessor were kept in all vehicle versions, but the length was increased by the size of one pair of road wheels. This resulted in twice as much space in the interior of the vehicle.
WIESEL 2 AMBULANCE VEHICLE
The WIESEL 2 Ambulance Vehicle, operated by the driver and a medical orderly, provides quick and effective support, such as medical help, professional transport and treatment of the wounded as well as transport of medical equipment. Transport of two seated wounded and one wounded person lying down is possible.
WIESEL 2 BATTALION COMMAND POST VEHICLE
The WIESEL 2 Battalion Command Post Vehicle, with a crew of three men, serves for command and control tasks, such as: de-central, task-specific processing of commands, computer-aided implementation of operations, and exchange of information with other types of troops, operations staff and command authorities. The latest communication equipment and a global positioning system are integrated.
ARMOURED WEAPON CARRIER WIESEL 2 MORTAR 120 MM
Operated by a crew of three men, the WIESEL 2 Mortar is equipped with a 120 mm muzzle loader mortar with recoil system. Readiness to fire can be quickly arranged by automatic definition of position, direction and height. At one burst, three rounds can be fired within 20 seconds. At sustained fire, 18 rounds can be fired within three minutes. Targets at a distance of 6 km can be hit by use of conventional ammunition. 30 rounds of ammunition are stowed in the vehicle. Reloading and operation of the weapon are done under ballistic and NBC protection.
All three variants described above were developed and produced by Rheinmetall Landsysteme. The company is the supplier of the WIESEL 2 chassis for the Short Range Air Defence System (LeFlaSys), including the Fire Control Vehicle, Battery Command and Control, as well as the OZELOT Weapon Carrier
