The Advisory Council for Commercial Exploration of the Solar System is proud to announce plans for several city-stations in deep space, to act as living areas, waypoints, research facilities, etc.
After the Worldring is transferred to Venusian orbit to oversee the terraforming operations there, E-DS Alpha will be constructed in its former orbit halfway between Mars and Earth. E-DS Bravo is slated to be constructed in synchronous orbit with Earth, but on the other side of the sun.
We hate to have to resort to Star Trek for descriptions, but we couldn't come up with anything better, so:
The station consists of a central core and two ring sections. The central core looks like, *ahem*, the central core of DS-9, but elongated. The ring sections are to be .75 kilometers in diameter, and toroidal. The outside of each torus will be opaque, but the inward facing sections will be constructed from transparent plastics. Docking bays will be situated at the top and bottom of the central core, and the two ring sections will be connected to the core via 4 passageways each. Other than through the core, the ring sections will remain unconnected.
