Well, the Barret .50 HTI Sniper Rifle is really an anti-matter rifle, and is not really supposed to be used for anti-personell, although it can be. It can fire up to 2000m, but for it to be accurate up to this point, it must use a special type round. The rounds cost upwards of $3.50 per round.

Actually, we have adequate funds to purchase these items for our self-defense forces, as our buildup has been measured and carefully thought out.

OOC: Although my nation has no income tax, I have worked out a sales tax system to fund my budget. Since I have a compulsory consumerist state, my people spend at least 95% of what they make. I calculated that each dollar changed hands at least 4 times / year, thus yielding the equivalent of an 18% income tax. The 4x per year calculation is probably very conservative in RL terms, but it keeps it simple and out of godmodding territory.

I have no government to speak of; I devote virtually nothing to social programs. My thriving economy coupled with an across-the-board sales tax (which, unlike an income tax, affects everyone, young and old alike, as money is spent on them - but, I don't take that concept too far; best to be on the safe side) can support a good military budget which I keep track of with a calculator downloaded from one of the threads. Actually, according to my figures, I spend far less than I can afford. Again, though, I prefer to err on the safe side of things.

In short, I am careful not to spend more than is reasonable for a nation such as mine (even allowing, as part of my budget, for the upkeep of my military and the salaries, etc. of my soldiers). My consumerist populace is very jealous of their material possessions and spend much to safeguard them. I hope that helps to answer your concerns.
