I don't think it'll be any of us. I'm pretty sure all of us could manage to do the whole troll puppet thing a little better than just randomly spamming the same picture and message dozens of times across the forums.

I only visit one other forum regularly, and I'm pretty sure you're not on it. You may be referring to a forum I formerly used to visit but recently quit. If so, you might notice that in my post explaining why I was leaving, I actually did, at length, condemn the person you're probably referring to.

I was annoyed by the spamming of threads with that stuff, but I'll leave it since I think we've both made our points clear, and going on about small irritations for days, months, or years on end is the sort of thing that made me get fed up of UMP :p

I didn't actually know it was you when I first posted that I didn't think it was very good, so it wasn't personal. In fairness, my initial reason for disliking you was a thread where I thought you were deliberately repeatedly misrepresenting an argument I was making about a year ago, but I wasn't aware of the language issues so I suppose "benefit of the doubt" is due. Essentially, and this is one of the reasons I left, it seemed almost the 'UMP' thing to do to give you shit about something that happened years ago.

Just to clarify, though, I left because GT wasn't the only person I was fed up with, and I was sick of both sides trying to drag me into the endless GT vs. Dobbs war. It wasn't fun anymore, so I got bored, which is an excellent reason for stopping an activity that's meant to be enjoyable, no?

I might return to a "UMP" at some point, after all a site about "Unicorns Mounting Pandas" or "Unruly Massive Pliers" would have a "must view" value that's almost irresistable. The other UMP? Whereas on UMP there's virtually a norm that to be part of the group you have to act like a dick towards others. It's fine if people like that sort of thing, but it's not my bag.

I'm not that kind of masochist who stays when things aren't enjoyable, so leaving made a lot of sense. Most of the other people I like from there are on another forum where people tend to be friendlier, so I have no reason to return. Sure, I'm fairly decent at defending myself from personal attacks, but I don't enjoy doing so or dishing them out to others. The idea of inviting NM kinda made clear to me that there was almost an ethos of inviting and enjoying trouble, which for me, as a humble exponent of the friendly social spam thread as 'good times' made me question why I was there.

That's a bummer, DI. But you're mistaken in what you think UMP is about. We don't a desire as a society, we individually think whatever the hell we want, and that's the whole point of the forum. Some posters there are assholes, like GT, me and sin, and some posters there pretty damned nice, like m00n, JB and Kiryu. The only posters that fight are the ones who want to fight, as the forum was never about fighting, which you'd realize if you looked at the all of the threads in General that didn't contain any fighting. It's about freedom to be a dick, freedom to be kind, freedom to love it, hate it or leave it. You're free to laugh at the assholes, put them on ignore or just leave them alone while we chat and joke. You'll notice that even the idea of inviting NM, which you claimed represented all of UMP, was heavily debated and never acted upon, so it is a very poor example of the general feelings on UMP.

I've watched enough anime to know that when people pretend to hate someone but act in ways to try to keep them close there is usually a very different relationship dynamic underneath.

In my early days on Jolt and NSG, I rarely complained about such things. Mostly because I don't give a rat's ass what some people think about me. I also hate being a whining little bitch like so many of those who "dont like me" are. (Although that's changed on NSG now, for defensive reasons). Not only that, I'm fully capable of taking care of myself, and I can dish it out at least as well as they can. If they wanted to run smack, they'd have come to the right place.

It was to support DCD, not because I liked all that many people who were also there (or even DCD all that much, I just thought the Mods were unnecessarily harsh). Later, I created a puppet on NSG, Linda Avens (a parody homage to fugly Linda Evans :p)...

What I did was speak my mind, argue logically, back up what I said, blow up their comfy little liberal orthodoxies, and never back down. Smoking fools and lighting up chumps--that was what I was doing. Like I said before, I think a lot of them know in their hearts that I'm right, and it devastates their whole world view.

I don't think this has been resolved yet, so I'm posting on behalf of Gift-of-god. HK created a thread on another forum telling us he was going to troll NSG, and giving the nation name and password. Gift-of-god used this information to log in and let people participating in that thread know, that the OP (HK) was trolling, that the entire thread was a troll thread. Now, when the modhammer came down, I think GoG ended up being the one banned, maybe in addition to, or perhaps rather than HK.

So I'd just like to bring this to the attention of the mods. The only post made by GoG was the one explaining that the OP was trolling. Can something please be done about his ban?

Not so much that, as that it's hard for me to take writing with large numbers of grammatical errors seriously. Thus, it's possible that you would intend a post completely seriously, but by wording it according to the grammatical rules of Flemish or Dutch or whatever instead of English, it will come to sound rather silly. That's why the English subtitles of the Chinese (?) release of Star Wars III became so infamous on the internet. (It doesn't help that George Lucas's writing already sounds rather silly in normal English.)
