On the Moderation board, we were told that going hogwild would be a "bad idea". Presumably the penalties for sufficiently blatant offenses will carry over to the new board?
It is not totally an "abandoned building", more like an abandoned wing of the building. Over in the II and NS subforums, posters are still continuing as if nothing has changed; rather odd really, don't know how long that will continue.
I, for one, plan to spam as hard as I can without getting B&. I'm sure the mods will give us some leniency since we're going to feel the touch of the MIGHTY DEAT-HAMMER OF JOLT.

It was a natural evolution of "delete" when used a lot on the internet. Delete was too long, to it got shorted to deat, probably by some n00b posting "OMAD I UR GOIN 2 GET DELATED!" and then other people mocking him "LOL YEA U R GETIN DEATED!" or something like that.
How can you even utter such a notion?

Actually, the origin of DEAT on Nationstates goes back to when Neutered Sputniks was a mod. He brought the term over from some other forum he was on, where as he described it, a mod typoed "DEAD" as "DEAT" and it stuck.
... And it's made it into Urban Dictionary now? o_O
