Jackques Rudolph, a South African cricket player, hit with a rake throw a pigeon. The animal didn't survive it. If the 'murder' on the dove is responsible for something, but Yorkshire the club of Rudolph, eventually lost the duel against Lancashire.

Randy Johnson did it first, with a 95mph fastball.

Dave Winfield, an outfielder, killed a seagull once as well, during a mid inning warmup.

Your thread title is a tautology.

EDIT: and it's happened before, a number of times. Awesome throw though.

The Randy Johnson throw was the first thing I thought of when I read this thread. His was way grosser than this cricket throw.

Cricket balls are a lot harder and heavier though. I think the Randy Johnson throw was so gross because the bird was flying a lot faster.

I think of that every time I see the Big Unit pitch... which is quite often now that he's in SF. :(

He's so nice, too...

Damn Lancastrians! *shakes fist*

Not that I actually care about cricket, but it's the principle of the matter

Yeah, cricket is still boring. Just because a bird gets killed doesn't suddenly make it interesting.

For that matter, baseball and American Football are also boring.

Cricket is a wicked sport. Have you ever looked at the chicks who go to cricket games? Hawt.

But on baseball and American Football, I can agree with you. I'd like to add Rugby of all forms, swimming, and tunnelball.

The only way test cricket could be made better, for mine, is to remove the time limit. Six days, ten days ... two months. However long it takes, one team would amass more runs in two innings than the other, and would win.

Needless to say, I find the idea of limiting overs utterly inimical to cricket. It just isn't the same game when the scoring-rate means victory or defeat.

The ideal game of cricket is closely-fought, five days long ... and a draw.

They both have their pros and cons. Rumours of the death of test cricket have been greatly exaggerated, both forms can remain competitive.

Also, that's one reason I love the Ashes. Some of the games go for six days... yummo!
