I used to think that Richard Anderson would have made a pretty good Jordan but he's kind of old now.

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks for posting this.

Nathan Fillon would make a great Green Lantern.

Man, now I wish they were really making it. After all, GL is my favorite superhero.

Your point being? It's not like Hollywood has had anything good or new to offer in recent years.

At least the comic books can now be realized and like it or not, their stories actually are a good example of how storytelling works.
Not as good as the fanmade trailer for Thundercats.
Not a fan of Thundercats, so this GL one wins for me!

They are really making it (http://green-lantern.moviechronicles.com/).
That is just an old fan-made trailer.

nice fan made trailer. use of scenes from STAR TREK, WATCHMEN, STARSHIP TROOPERS, GI JOE, FANTASTIC FOUR, and various VGs was pretty creative.

No comic books are not a good example of story telling - they are an example of dull story telling cliches trotted out again and again.

Supposedly it's to come out in theaters in June of 2011. (See here:) (http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/05/07/green-lantern-and-sucker-punch-moved-to-2011/)

As for the fan made trailer part, at the time I posted it it wasn't declared as such on YouTube, so blame them.. not me.

Either way, a GL movie would be cool.

It's awesome, but if you read the comments it's a fan made trailer.
http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=green+lantern&x=0&y=0

There seem to be no GL movies even in preproduction... which is a shame.

Like there's anything else original coming out of Hollywood these days? It's all sequels and remakes and bloodbaths...

Please -- I've seen that trailer YEARS ago, and it was clear then it was fan made.

do you think they will have a "hilarious" 10 minuets where the superhero uses his powers all wrong followed by 5 minuets of a villain being made with motives that make no sense?

omg I hope they add in a chick who the superhero would be better suited glassing than being involved with! (dammit Spiderman ditch the mood swinging bint and get with the uber cool Russian chick who gives you not only cookies but connections with your landlord)

Go Green Lantern. Probably just to create a buzz. See if there is any interest. I would say yes it would sell. Good choice of actors.

If there's one rule I live by, it's that Bacon should be fresh. Anything else and it's a waste.

Also, I found it ironic that my local Jewish school was putting on a stage version of Footloose.

Why would the hero and villain do a 17th Century social dance of French origin? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minuets)

Indeed.

That's not to say that one cannot tell a good story in that venue, however. See, for example, The Order of the Stick, or any number of similar webcomics.

No, comic books are not a good example of story telling - they are an example of dull story telling cliches trotted out again and again.

No. Many are like that. But not all. Persepolis is a good example of a comic book that doesn't resort to clichés. The Sin City series is also quite good. Waltz with Bashir looks quite good as wel, though I haven't finished it yet. Superpowered people in tights comics that don't use tired clichés are the now-popular Watchmen graphic novel and the understandably less popular Wanted, which was totally raped and turned into an awful Angelina Jolie film. Ronin was also quite nice. Chester Brown's biography of Louis Riel is a wonderful use of minimalist comic art to depict the bleakness of his struggle and times. Art Spiegelman's Maus is also an interesting comic book view of horrifying historical events.

Of course, I am only discussing North American comics here. If we start looking at European and Asian comics, we open the door to all sorts of different interpretations that make the discussion more complicated. Is Asterix a comic book?
