Greetings, NSG!

What was the most recent event that you simply had to celebrate by partying as hard as you could?

As a personal achievement, that was my graduation from university.

As a fan - definitely the win of the Deutsche Fußballmeisterschaft by my team VfL Wolfsburg today. http://www.hallo-spass.de/smilies/fussball/smilie_wolfsb.gif

(And I had the chance to watch history in the making 'cause I was in the stadium... http://www.hallo-spass.de/smilies/smilie_schal2.gif)

So, miracles do come true - what's yours? And how did you celebrate it?

hmm...

well, there was that time that I... no... didn't party...

last year I... nope... didn't celebrate that...

lets see...

I know there was something where I partied in celebration...

lemme get back to you on that one...

I'm celebrating that in less than 2 weeks, I'll be out of here and where I want to be. I'm also celebrating that it's a long weekend and that in a matter of an hour I'll be drinking ice cold Dos XX, lager and enjoying the warm water of the pool. Oh, and that I don't need to see people at the consulate until Tuesday!

When this fellow on TV said "Obama has won the election" :D

Was pretty happy when Alabama was 12-0 but then the Gators chomped us down a notch in the SEC championship. :(

I haven't done anything big since February, but that was enough. I somehow ended up dancing in a gay bar at 4am, found receipts in my pockets for 2 bars I have no recollection of drinking in, and lost my coat.

I wasn't even celebrating anything in particular!

1. Palin is not and, God willing, never will be an elected official on the national stage.

2. The World's still here.

3. There's a new Star Trek, a new Terminator, and a new Harry Potter this summer. Good times for nerds.:)

4. Now there's two NS forums.:)

5. I'm almost off for the summer. Just in time to look for a new job and a new appartment. Oh wait, this was supposed to be good news.;)

That's always nice if you get off work a little earlier.

How much longer do you have to attend? Another 2 years?

1. and 2. may have something to do with each other!

3. Two out of three ain't bad. Although I'm still unsure whether I really want to see the new Star Trek movie. Is T4 any good?
(I might like a hairy pooter, Harry Potter is a whole different story!)

4. I just saw that yesterday. Still undecided whether to go or stay or even be around both places.

5. It can be if you make it so!

I've a lot to celebrate, but none of it yet, and I'm not really the celebrating sort. Well I might go out to a restaurant and have a nice year, but I don't drink and I don't like noisy crowds, so... here's what.

Me and my girlfriend are going to be moving out of the house we're staying in and hopefully into a city that has a city centre larger than 7 or 8 streets. We're both going back to college, and then seeing about university from there, I'm looking about doing some volunteering at the local LGBT youth centre, and I finally decided after many years deliberating, to absolutely and definitely get surgery on something that's been bugging me.

So... what had gone from Jordi's 'sit around and do nothing forever' life is suddenly looking up. Worth celebrating I think.

I'm seeing and hearing much better things. Just to hear a president take alt energy more seriously and try put an end to the billion dollar spitballs that couldn't defend a parking lot is very good news to me. :)

What is this Dillinger you're talking about?

Oops! Sorry. It's called "Public Enemies" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152836/)
Johnny Depp playing a part that Warren Oates (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069976/) once played. That itself should prove to be interesting. :D

They're at different places and at different times, but the basic idea is the same: there they teach you about christianity and things related to christianity. And there's different camps for Eastern Ortodoxes(like me) and Lutherans, the largest religion in Finland.

what if you told your parents that you didnt want to go?

what if your parents gave you permission to skip it, would there be some kind of societal notice?

what if you went and didnt pay attention?

at 15 is there all that much you dont know about christianity already?

It's not mandatory. For example, my brother didn't go and he just didn't apply for it. And they don't actually punish for not paying attention if you aren't loud. BTW, I've noticed that you can go through classes not paying attention by keeping quit. And as for that last part, that depends on the person.

And, you go there the year you become 15. You can go there next year but not after that.

Yup, 150 euros. No, I'm not excited to go there. First of all: No indoor toilets or showers. Second: I'd wager I'm gonna be bored and mostly think about my own stuff during classes. Oh well, gotta take a lot of books there.

Tell me about it... Ten days there.. And I might actually become more of a Christian! I know this guy who went to one of these camps and he came back as a this mellowed out Christian. He used to be near-Atheist but now he's more of a Christian.

As for celebration well I don't need a reason to party hard.

However last year when I finished my last exam for my undergraduate degree at midday I started partying went round to a mates house got back to mine at 5 went out again an hour later into the city till 5 in the morning drinking and partying the entire time needless to say I don't remember all of it.

When I had my birthday in January with a few friends around I certainly went hard then too.

So, I finished my last exam of university today. It was a bit of an anti-climax really. Supposed the climax of three years of my life, but I didn't really feel that. Sure, a relief that my exams are over, but an uncertainty of what lies ahead, plus the fact that most of my friends don't finish on the same day so just a load of near-strangers to celebrate with.
