Do they even know what it means?

So, I like to listen to Matt and Ramona while I work, (the joys of owning your own business), and every Wednesday at 5pm, they have Ramona's mom Weezy comes on. Now I've been listening to this show for awhile, but it was Yesterday that I made this connection. Weezy always calls herself a "Cougar" and Ramona I'm guessing is in her 30s, so that kinda gives you an idea of how old Weezy is. I'm beginning to wonder if Weezy, Matt, and Ramona realize that an old woman calling herself a Cougar means that she's wants younger guys.

I have no idea if this was intentional and the "In joke" on the show, or it didn't actually occur to them, but I thought it was funny.

How many of y'all have come across something like this? Has someone use a word or a phrase, and it just made you wonder if they know what it means or what it could mean?

Um...why would you think that this isn't exactly what they intended it to mean?

He mentioned that as a possibility.

...I don't see any reason to question whether she knows what it means. It's like having someone call in and mention that they have a job where they drive a big red truck and save people, and then wondering if he really knows what "firefighter" means when he calls himself one.

I get that, but I'm curious as to what OTHER possibility it might be? I mean, if a 50ish year old woman on a talk show starts calling herself a cougar, I'm going with the assumption they know exactly what it means. is there any other context to suggest that they are using it in any other use of the phrase?

As for the topic of unintended innuendo, nothing beats the "teabagger" protests.

Although as a runner-up, I remember Smunkee mentioning seeing a local news report about how "more and more people are enjoying watersports!" which cracked her up. :p

When I was student teaching 4th grade, I overheard a conversation between two of my students about pores and hair and how we have hair all over our bodies just like animals, only it's really light and small so it's hard to see. One of the boys looked at the backs of his hands for a moment, then flipped them over and contemplated the palms, and said, "Except for our palms, maybe... do we have hair on our palms?"

It was all I could do not to chime in, "Give it a few years."

I wish I would have had the DVR going.....because right after that the female anchor was like "my husband and I really enjoy watersports"......I almost died laughing.

Then there was the clip off Fox about Obama and his wife "fisting a lot".
