It's been a while, so I thought I'd do one of these and see if anything has changed. When Bush was in office if you asked the question "what is the most hated country on earth" invariably lots of people would answer "US". Then, inevitably there'd be some "America fuck yeah" thing before it all degenerated into an argument about why North Korea isn't all that bad and Muslims.

Now Obama is in charge I want to see if people's perceptions have changed. Has he restored the reputation of the US, or is it still worse than DPRK? (Or France).

So let's hear it. Which, in the opinion of NSG, is the most hated country?

I've always hated visiting relatives in Ukraine. Past the bordering areas, the train people want you to speak Ukrainian, when they themselves obviously don't speak it well[it's not terribly different, but it's a little noticeable]. Also, relatives bitching "You don't belong in the Urals!!! You need to live here like most of the family!! [I haven't lived near the Urals in almost 10 years, and I like my job.]

I don't hate nations. I like them, or dislike them. However, there's one territory i dislike so much, i refuse to consider it a nation: the Vatican.

It baffles me how catholic nations can consider themselves sovereign, when clearly their policy is dictated by what they consider another country.

The US, France, The UK, Isreal, ect.

I have been very critical of the US under the Bush administration but there have always been countries run in far worse ways. Zimbabwe, North Korea, Sudan etc. are much worse. The reason why I criticise the US under Bush is that they should know better, and as has been shown, can change for the better.

Actually, no. They are not about booting out black people. The SVP like to think of itself (and it is indeed) a pro-security / anti-crime party...and a ridiculously high amount of crime in Switzerland comes from immigrants from the Balkans...White European people. Usually the anti-immigrant from the SVP has to do with the increase in crime resulting from the influx of Balkan people.

Really not lies though . . . There aren't even that many black people in Switzerland. Where there are, they are usually in the French part, coming from French speaking former African colonies. In the German part, the SVP heartland, the main immigrants are from the the Balkans.

Nah, I don't actually hate any of those countries, but I do have a tendency to dislike the French people I meet. While they are in France... if I meet them else where they are fine usually. I'm sure there are plenty of nice French people in France, but I just haven't met any.

Why do you hate Israel? It has a highly developed high tech industry that provides technologies, education, medicines and scientific research (it's quite an impressive entrepreneur state) to the global community on an incredible level. For example, Israeli publishes the most scientific papers in the world per capita and is on the cutting edge of alternate energies (solar and geo-thermal) and water conservatiion.

Eh, I'll admit, it's patriotism. I don't like what we're doing in Iraq. I don't like what we've done. But I still maintain some amount of Patriotism for my country. I think the reason that the USA doesn't rank up there is because I have a little more faith in Obama. Heh. Maybe the rhetoric has finally gotten to me. ;) In Israel, however, nothing I've seen seems to be leading towards any kind of change in their policies. Not only that, but it's blatantly hypocritical, seeing as the events leading up to Israel's creation as a State.

Israel is a good bet if Obama's election plus the departure of President Bush and his cronies is enough to knock America from the top spot. You've got much of the Muslim world for a start. And a lot of people who may not hate the Israeli people but who don't think much of their government's policies towards the Palestinians, with good cause.

Also, when we talk about hating a country, do we nessissarily mean it as hating all its people, or simply hating its government? When I refer to my dislike of a country, I'm generally referring more to it's government.

Ukraine is fantastic and the people are wonderful. The country is huge, so there's good and not so good parts. It is still developing, so things are a little wonky and broken, but the country is facinating. Wonderful, wonderful culture and people. The kindest and most genrous people I've met.

Sorry if that came off harsher than I intended. I am just genuinely confused about some people's reaction to Poland/Poles. Like, I don't get the jokes or understand the sterotypes on any level. I had horses as a kid and I don't feel great about eating the sweeties. I couldn't eat dog either. Octopus is tastey, but after I found out how smart they were, I couldn't eat them again.
