Deleuzenal?

Curious Inquiry

Gilles Deleuze (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_Deleuze), and some of his philosophy.
One critic:
"In What Is Neostructuralism? (1984), Manfred Frank claims that Deleuze's theory of individuation as a process of bottomless differentiation fails to explain the unity of consciousness."
But doesn't his theory of individuation preclude a unified consciousness? So why should he explain it?

This thread is motivated entirely by your need to make a pun on the philosopher's name.

I think you should admit that. Then we'll get down to some serious pseudo-philosophy and using words we don't know the meaning of yet.

I agree with NH---er, BSB.

Also, what reading I could get through on his philosophy was uninspiring and seemed to be built on varying ideas from Kant, Nietzsche and Freud, all three of which I would gladly toss overboard into shark-infested waters were they not otherwise occupied with being dead.

Is there a better reason to start a thread on philosophy?

Perhaps that one has an idea, and wants to argue about it?

Of course, that's much more fun in the pub than here on the internet. In the pub, you are less likely to meet a philosophy major, and even less likely to have a huge musty pile of books plonked on the bar, which you must read before making any sense of what they're talking about.

Also, you can "accidentally" spill your beer on them or poke them with a pool cue. Not that those tactics win the argument for you ... but they make up some ground. ;)

You should talk to Bodies Without Organs, if he ever still comes round these parts.

he usually does when someone invokes his name three times. darkened bathroom, mirror, and candles are optional.

I hear he kills you with phenomenology...

As to the OP, I've only managed to read a little of Anti-Oedipus and a few bits of Guatteri's stuff without Deleuze, so I can't comment on your question, or even confirm if it's a genuine query.
