Should politicians apologise for making wrong comparisons?

Within the walls of the cowards castle (i.e Parliament) a government MP Steve Gibbons compared the opposition t having the same attitude as the Third Reich effectively calling them NAZI's.

When Parliament resumed today the Leader of opposition business seeked an apology for this comment. It was knocked down by the Government by using their numbers to block the motion.

Now the question is should politicians be made to apologise for making incorrect comparisons or even trying to make a Goodwin within Parliament?

Or should he be allowed to make whatever comparisons that he likes regardless of accuracy?

Me personally I don't think he should be made to apologise even though it seems he deliberately used the term to stir up emotions, however, I believe that he should be shown that his comparisons are wrong and maybe even told to at least acknowledge his mistake.

What do you guys think?

This is a silly question. "Should"? They shouldn't exist in the first place. For most of us, it would be better if there was no such profession as a "politician". Professional administrators, I understand; but having someone who has never seen an inch of your life debate and decide on what's best for you - now that strikes me as something of little use. And, indeed, it is proven by the detachment of the political parties from the reality.
