Summer Concerts

So, NSG, what concerts are you going to over the summer?

Yesterday, I went and saw Street Sweeper Social Club, Nine Inch Nails, and Jane's Addiction at the Lakewood in Atlanta yesterday, and it was great first concert I've been to that I can truly say that I very much enjoyed every band. Hell, they were all good enough that any one of them would have been enough to get me to want to go to a concert.

Other than that, I'm likely not going to any big shows this summer, though I might go to a see a few local bands here an there.

Hmm... hard to say. I've been totally disconnected from American music for the past year or so; my iPod contains 90% Japanese rock music. So, no, not really... unless any of the bands I know are going on tour or my friends drag me to a concert.

*Growls at those in the Northern Hemisphere who have their summer concerts now while I have to wait till November*

In saying that there are a few bands on tour over the winter which I may just go to, why this Friday I'm off to see The Presets, sickoooooo.

Yes I'll be seeing Blur in Hyde Park and the support acts include Vampire Weekend and Florence and the Machine. It shall be a good day.

Oh... for some reason, I read the title as "summer corsetts"... it seemed odd.

I don't know yet. Most of the clubs haven't updated their lists for the whole summer.

Although Leftover Crack and the Casualties are coming in early July.

It would have been a better thread. my only one is black and would make me meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellt.

I'm not going to any specifically summer concerts. Going to see the manics at the end of the month though. That happens to be in the summer.

Yeah I can't wait for the summer festival season to kick off again, definitely go to BDO and am thinking of finding a few people who want to go to Falls.

I've yet to get myself to a BDO. Heard very good things, but never had the money. Would love to get there.

Falls is too far out of my way, so, in the words of the girl on my train today, I ceebz.

Don't you live in Victoria? Falls is just along the coast.

However there is a festival held in the Melbourne CBD amongst some of the lanes. Don't remember what it is called would like to go but.

Yeah the Laneway festival is great (I also forget it's name), when it's organised properly. And it's all the way along the coast. Neither I nor any of my friends drive.

The real inhibitor to all of this is my lack of money. I realised that I spent $5 in the last two weeks. I haven't had the money for any more.

Yeah fair enough, money can be a problem just don't try and get in for free and end up like the guys this year lol.

And actually it is called the Laneway festival, well to be more precise St Jerome's Laneway Festival.

Pff. It'll be crap. Albarn clearly wanted to put Blur behind him, hence Gorillaz and that other one he did, so, even if (as I imagine they claim) they've patched up all differences and really "believe" in re-forming, his heart won't be in it. And Graham Coxon's a c*nt (that opinion is based on being forced to sit through a play-through of whatever album he had out in 2004) who's only doing this because his solo career dived like Tom Daley.

I actually liked Blur back in the day, and I honestly think that's the key difference between me and my brother (he liked Oasis...and still does).

As to the actual OP - not much certain as yet, but: will be seeing Maybeshewill a couple of times this month, and then festivals-wise should be going to Supersonic, Sonisphere and Summer Sundae (all the cool festivals start with S) (except ATP). And possibly Bestival. Oh, and Dot to Dot in Nottingham in a couple of weeks. My Vitriol are playing, should be a nostalgia trip.

I was going to go to it this year when in Melbourne (yes same line up as yours) but the two mates I was organising it with cancelled due to lack of funds and so I missed out in the end.
