What do you like about NSG?

Ok another simple title question fellow Generalities, so let's hear your answer.

What exactly do you like NSG? Why do you keep coming back?

Why did you come here in the first place?

And while we all know it is because I am a member of these forums I want to hear your other answers too.

I initially joined while I was studying politics and thought this place could help. In a way it has and broadened my horizons.

Why do I keep coming back? Tougher question. I guess its become habit. My internet usage now goes, check Facebook, check news, check NSG, check UMP and then browse/do work.

Despite a political and ideological bias, there's always someone willing to argue the opposite case - sometimes even quite well. It redeemed my faith in the internet not being comprised solely of halfwits and foetuses.

Why do you keep coming back?

Why did you come here in the first place?
Through playing the game - surely that's the most common reason?! then saw a forum that was actually discussing some interesting topics instead of the usual internet spam...

same here, though for me it initially broadened by horizons, then made me realise i don't care what other people think

but why do i come back? for the people, mostly. i also have a strange sense of loyalty after being here for so long, and having made friends here (and met my girlfriend of almost 4 years here). that said, the more that posters i know (more importantly, know well) move on, the less involved i find myself here, which in turn makes it harder to get to know newer posters, makes me grumpy, and turns into a vicious cycle. bleh.

I like how people here talk about anything and everything. I can't really do that with my friends or the people around me; they usually talk about something I don't care about (ex. Rockband 2), or I talk about something they don't care about. Here, everyone has something interesting and intelligent to say. I live in inner-city NYC, so I'm lucky if anyone knows the difference between socialism and capitalism, and much less cares.

Why did you come here in the first place?

Why do you keep coming back?
I have no idea... um, to help in my illusion that I have online friends? :(

Why did you come here in the first place?
I as lured into the forums via NSUN, then went to NSII, then wasted some time by lurking (and eventually posting) in NSG while waiting for posts. I now usually go to NSG as it is not as commitment-heavy as following up on RPs or campaigning/debating for WA Resolutions. (I can't commit time reliably on NS because of my work/studies.)

NSG was the first forum I ever posted on when I was just discovering such things. Aside from the odd lull, it manages to stay active enough that if you're involved in more than one thread, it can sometimes be challenging just to keep up. I like that. Waiting hours for a response is just not my thing.

I have to admit I'm not as interested in NSG as I once was, perhaps I'm a bit tired of the repetition, or the lack of new posters who really inspire me to post, but NSG continues to be one of my homes on the internet. I've posted with some of you for years now, and I actually like to keep in touch with what you're up to, and shoot the shit now and again. It's important to me.

I have met people on NSG that have ended up being really, really important to me, and I'm certainly not going to downplay the awesomeness of that. What do I like about NSG? More than I dislike I suppose, since I stick around:)

You bring up a good point Neesika, I have made a lot of friends here and continue to make friends with other posters from both International Incidents and General forums. I have made some very good friends here on NSG (Looking at you Nanatsu, Blouman, and Aerou wherever she is) that I'm not sure how I could get along without knowing before and several other friends I enjoy shooting the shit with as Neesika so eloquently (?) put it. Its prolly why I keep coming back.

I discovered NS through another forum I used to go to - a select group of people that posted about obscure stuff noone else cared about. Then I clicked on the topics on the side to find out what they were about. I've not left.

I have found people that have challenged and changed my beliefs about some things, and I have been convinced that my own unconvential beliefs about certain issues are valid. I have also learnt a great deal about the world, and about things which I perhaps wasn't so aware of previously.

What exactly do you like NSG? For Sin's debauchery, for Grave_n_idle and Jocabia's arguments, for Sarkhaan, to bug WYTYG, to get Ruffy to doctor photos for me, to be Amarenthe's official stalker, to watch Muravyets pound Verdigroth in scintillating gender-oriented discussion, to get into political and environmental fracas with Desperate Measures and Sumamba Buwhan, to get into Nanatsu No Tsuki's head in manner of music and perversion, to lament Drunk Commies Deleted/JesusSaves in one manner or another, to have some fun with Ladamesansmerci and Spam Local 144.92.7734 (in whatever form it's currently in), to get smilies from German Nightmare, to basically interact with people for some new ideas and argue about the old ones ...

Mock-sexing Nan is fun, and talking with her about history is highly enjoyable; but hearing about her personal life is fatiguing, especially when she demands no comments or questions be made in response.

No, the camp I go to starts on the Fouth of June, my birthday is on the twentythird of October. There I'm for 10 days, in a place that doesn't have indoor toilets or showers. With services every morning and evening. Then I go to a quite wonderful church, that looks beautiful. There I have a final service and then go home.

At least, I might free stuff for it.

Yeah, you just have to be 15 that year. And, there are a few private schools but the only difference is that private schools are ran by private people(hence, the name).

From the Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Finland):

There are private schools but they are made unattractive by legislation. The founding of a new private comprehensive school requires a political decision by the Council of State. When founded, private schools are given a state grant comparable to that given to a municipal school of the same size. However, even in private schools, the use of tuition fees is strictly prohibited, and any private school must admit all its pupils on the same basis as the corresponding municipal school. In addition, private schools are required to give their students all the social entitlements that are offered to the students of municipal schools.
